New Baltimore Catechism defines Relic as 'Something belonging to, or connected with Our Lord or the Saints, such as a portion of their bodies or a garment they wore' The teaching of the Catholic Church with regard to the veneration of relics is summed up in a decree of the Council of Trent (Sess. XXV) There are three categories of relics 1st Class Items directly associated with the events of Christ’s life (manger, cross, etc.), or the physical remains of a saint (a bone, a hair, a limb, etc.). Traditionally, a martyr’s relics are often more prized than the relics of other saints. Also, some saints relics are known for their extraordinary incorruptibility and so would have high regard. It is important to note that parts of the saint that were significant to that saint’s life are more prized relics. For instance, King St. Stephen of Hungary’s right forearm is especially important because of his status as a ruler 2nd Class An item that the saint wore (a sock, a shirt, a glove, etc.) Also included is an item that the saint owned or frequently used, for example, a crucifix, book etc. Again, an item more important in the saint’s life is thus a more important relic. 3rd Class Anything which has touched a first or second class relic of a saint. Apart from Roman Catholic relics are part Buddhism, Hinduism, Shamanism etc Attached is Relic skull and reliquary of Saint Ivo of Kermartin (also St. Yves or St. Ives), (1253–1303) in Tréguier, Brittany, France (wikipedia)

obowunmi: Babes for UConn dey sweet. That is all you know about the school? |
zigggy: See u soon. BroWe will, do have a splendid time |
italo: It's not just me who knows you as a liar now, Superior. We are growing in number each day. You havent noticed? And i dont call you liar because you disagree with me, I call you liar because you LIE habitually on this forum. You intentionally say things that you know are untrue...and refuse to recant them even when you are proved wrong (and you know i have examples).Poor you, you have this much of unspent emotions?, I must have caused you a lot of pains and grieve. If this is your idea of stopping me, its a shame, you will be disappointed. It is time you accept Jesus as your Lord and stop romancing the doctrines and tradition of hell written by men under demonic intoxication. |
Syncan: O purest of creatures! sweet Mother, sweet Maid;Mary was saved like any other through Christ death, no? |
italo: How was Jesus the Son of God and yet the Son of Mary and Joseph?Italo, quite awhile, so anyone who doesnt agree with you are liars?, then you must also be a great liar (because i dont buy into your stuffs and they arent true from my perspective). We should be civil, dont you think so? |
zigggy: University of bridgeportWill be running a course at University of Connecticut in January |
How was Mary a spouse to the Holy Spirit and yet married to Joseph?? |
Syncan: There is a difference but,I will stop my enlightenment of you on this. Experience with you in this thread has taught me better than to waste my time. So, what is the difference and where can it be seen in the gospel? You mean not being able to make a scripture out of book of Enoch makes you feel bad eeyah!!, sorry about that |
Well, I have never been charged for my baggage. Truth be told about people bringing in cargo in the name of baggage. I remembered coming in from heathrow the other day on BA, fear catch me with the kin baggage Naijas dem dey check in, even what they claimed to be hand luggage na my own check in luggage. |
zigggy: Hi guyz ,I am coming to connecticut o for Msc. Abeg I no sabi anybody o,hw z d place nd I. dnt mind if we. Hook upWhich school is that? |
Syncan: 1. I never claimed to know the author of the book of Enoch, why ask me?Facts 1. Enoch wasn't the author of the book of Enoch 2. Jude mentioned Enoch prophesy is his letter but Enoch didn't write book of Enoch (so how can his mention of Enoch be automatically be the book of Enoch when Enoch didn't write the book ) 3. According to the wikipedia you posted, the book as been re-arranged and re-visited. While they both share a good similarities, there are some differences to point to. The book of Enoch is a fraud and its claims to Enoch as the author has been established to be lies, we can't conclude Jude was quoting from it (Because even the largest population of Jews do not accept this book neither Christians). |
Syncan: Thank you. They are different, one is the virgin birth, the other is Perpetual Virginity.Virgin birth and Perpetual Virginity (what is the difference, where are they in the gospel?) No, the question wasn't answered, I just wanted to be sure it is on the premise of those words you arrived on the virginity of mary after she gave birth to Jesus (because this was not stated in the passage) |
Syncan: Dear one,Its just tiresome explaining to someone who will never accept that 1 comes before 2 in numeric order. Even when it does not concern core faith issues like "the book of Enoch existed before Jude". When we make up our mind that a certain belief is wrong, why do we bother asking for explanation, if we will not be truthful in receiving it? I just wonder.Syncan, I earnestly pray you to always be honest, I asked you two questions ' who is the author of the book' and also asked you to post the two alleged quoting so we can see if they are exactly the same. You have not got back on that. It was also written that part of the book was ESTIMATEDLY around 1BC and the writers are different but you still believe what you wanted. Please bro, be honest !!(like you will say if it were me) |
Syncan: Please highlight where the angel talked about conception, there(like i told you earlier) you will find the Birth. Meanwhile I earnestly enjoin you to always be honest, the question you asked(which i came in to answer) was how she gave birth to Jesus and still retained her virginity. It is quite different from being a virgin for life as you now wrote.Ok, sorry if that offends you, i simply equate both to be same (It takes her to be a virgin after Jesus birth for her to remain virgin for life). 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” 29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” So, the bolded is it? |
Ubenedictus: i'm quite sure i,m more conversants with these topics compared to the blunder you've been making on the thread. i also have been following the thread from the first page and i've read very word since. your assumption that i know nothing about the discussion is what is really laughable. This is just typical of the petty nonsense i have come to identify you with. Next time, i will just ignore it |
Syncan: My friend,I think you need to read Luke again, the angel's exposition covered both conception and birth. This is what i found as the angel's interaction with Mary (Luke Gospel), can you point to your claims there and where it is said of Mary she will remain a virgin for life 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” 34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” 35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[b] the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.” 38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. |
Ubenedictus: since u want to escape the enoch question, please tell me who is the person that prays in the name of mary? You have this funny character of jumping into a discussion you know nothing about and making laughable claims. |
Ubenedictus: WHERE DID PAUL SAY "ALL MY TEACHINGS ARE IN THE EPISTLES"?Paul's known epistles are what is found in the pages of the Bible. Do you have where he says 'ALL MY TEACHINGS ARE NOT IN THE EPISTLES'? |
Syncan: His "delivery" was like His Conception. You can figure that out.ThanksThe Bible recorded His conception as through the Holy Spirit but didn't mention same of His delivery neither did it mention of Mary becoming a virgin after His birth. |
Is there anything impossible for God?
Certainly not Maria, was the delivery of Jesus miraculous? as in Jesus didn't came out from (...where you know) of His mother? like you and I |
How did Mary remain virgin for life after the birth of Jesus, how was baby Jesus gave birth to?? |
chukwudi44: The book of job is the first book in the bible to be written. The much acclaimed books of moses were not actually written by moses. Sal C: I don't want to derail this thread but can I also ask you who is the author of Deuteronomy and Hebrews?.You guys should open a thread for this discussion. I want to get back to the doctrine of Mary (still many questions without answers) |
The police is your friend, Bail is free |
Syncan: Did the book of Enoch exist before Jude? Ans = Yes 300BC atleast for the first partAnd who is the author of the book of Enoch? Can you post Jude 1:14 and 1Enoch1:9 and let see if they are exactly the same? |
Syncan: You call a book Jude used in preaching a fraud, claiming it was written after Jude. I showed you it was written before Jude, you have not proved me wrong, as a matter of fact your post supported me. Yet you cannot own up that you were wrong earlier, what do you call that? I am in no way sarcastic, I am speaking frankly. My response above also applied to this, answer the question |
Sal C: Are you guys discussing the authorship of The book of Enoch and the year it was written, or are you guys trying to show us who quote who between Jude and Enoch?.If Enoch isn't the author, how can Jude be quoting him? |
brightk: hi everyone,Cut the relationship and move ahead in developing your relationship with God. If it is God's will you marry her, you will and if not, so be it. Keeping your relationship with her without fornicating isn't very practicable considering your past together. Flee every appearance of evil |
Syncan: Superior1, I said:You cant be a judge in your own case, i have showed you that book is a fraud and not what is claimed to be. Is the bolded an attempt at being sarcastic? |
Joagbaje:Well said. Gal 3 …12However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, "HE WHO PRACTICES THEM SHALL LIVE BY THEM." 13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us-- for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE "-- 14in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith REVELATION 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. Ancient of Days, King of Kings, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, Alpha and Omega etc are just few names i love to worship my God with but my prayers are said IN JESUS NAME |
Syncan: Superior1, I will enlighten you as best as I can on your question. You however will agree to be honest unlike what I've seen so far.The question is already answered (Prayer through and in Mary name isnt in the Bible), what i need you to agree is that next time, you will come straight on answers without playing around, ok? |
Syncan: You see my problem with you? Are we now determining who wrote Enoch. What I said is that Jude quoted Enoch in his teachings, you said no, that Enoch was written after Jude. You promised to show it here, how come you are now talking BC now? You owe me thanks my friend, be truthful. If we don't speak truthfully, then we will not make progress.I just showed you the author of that book wasn't Enoch. Compare when Enoch lived and the period this book came to existence (It is no calculus). The following are from the link you posted Most scholars share the view[5] that these five sections were originally independent works (with different dates of composition), themselves a product of much editorial arrangement, and were only later redacted into what we now call 1 Enoch. The older sections (mainly in the Book of the Watchers) are estimated to date from about 300 BC, and the latest part (Book of Parables) probably was composed at the end of the 1st century BC.[2] Jesus was born in 6 BC, Enoch was alive then? |
