charles316: saxywale,surgee and others

hi guys,is it possible to school in canada with 4m naira(tuition for masters, accommodation, feeding etc)
just like oga saxywale said it all depends on your school and course. what course and is it a uni or college. colleges tend to be cheaper than universities, I stand to be corrected tho. but with that amount you are cool with so many schools for just 1 year.

standupguy: Changing institutions: your responsibility
If you are thinking about changing your institution or your program, you need to ensure that you continue to meet the conditions of your study permit, as well as the conditions that allow you to work, should you wish to work during your studies.
okay sir. thanks but can you post the link to the study and work terms though I am retreating to MUN and later move to other provinces on program completion, I think its quite better that way, even now that NFL is also booming in oil and gas who knows if someone could also land job there as an engineer.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by SURGEE(m): 11:08pm On Sep 20, 2014
PlayPays: I don't understand the bolded but one thing I know about the new rule since June 1st is that a change of school would have to be granted by cic which means u'll have to convince em why you wna change after you receive ur permit with another school. The common thing is to finish from one school then move to another province for better things.
I now get it my oga. it wouldn't be easy convincing CIC on that. it just pays to wait and find greener pastures. thanks bro.
however. can you give an overview of what life is like in NFL(jobs, community, bills, socials and study life) if you have any idea sir or anyone in the house o abeg, though I read some other forums but I really don't know what's in for international students.
thanks once again

my ogas o, is it possible to change uni on getting to Canada for a graduate program. I am stuck between MUN n UoA. from my searches, I discover that there are a lot of opportunities for civil engineers in Alberta compared to NFL. so, could it be possible to have a year of study in MUN and then move to UoA for degree completion, consequent on job prospects and obtaining PR.
pls what's your take on this, as we all know that Alberta has a booming economy at present?

akanni: @siga, wetin u advise? My application has not yet been treated and my school mandated i be around for orientation program, this wednesday, while classes starts on monday. My advisor said if i don't make orientation and start of class,i will be removed from my registered courses.Anyway, my question now is if i have been removed from my courses and they ask me to go for medicals and thereafter submit my passport for the visa, how do i handle this especially at POE?
brother, pls do I need to have to contact an advisor from my dept to be qualified to apply at the UoM? anticipating civil engineering.
kindly detail
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by SURGEE(m): 11:33pm On Sep 10, 2014
akanni: sorry about that, you will need to look at the reasons for refusal though and cover those grounds before reapplying. What date did you submit your application by the way?If you can share those reasons, some of us could assist you with what you need to put right.
hello bro, pls can you give me insight as to the acceptance fee for a masters degree at University of Mant? my course, civil engineering is $8911($4600 per term) for a year and subsequent year is $900 per year. however, I want to clarify if the school runs only 2semesters in a year for masters and how is the tuition fee stated to be paid on reception of admission letter? Also, pls are there jobs in Manitoba that will aid sustainability and how is the construction industry?
hope my question is not to much.....abeg pardon me and help a brother out.
thanks

einsteino: Lol I have to correct u there, am not rili a senior engineer. Am a graduate engineer with barely a year experience. I just happen to be in a consultancy firm that always has a plethora of jobs, hence I managed to garner much experience in little time coupled with the fact that my boss is more of a leader and mentor than a boss.

This explains why I dont know how to ask him for a study leave, I feel like the prodigal son running away from his father.

experience is not exactly a function of time, it is a function of exposure and how much you have been able to achieve. Am saying this as an encouragement because I remember when I started, someone in my firm told me I was too young and was a blank. Today when that someone runs into problems in his project, I often end up being the one who solves it. so to me the most important thing is ur resilience at the face of challenges, with it you would have a steep learning curve. everyone started as a blank
oh! Charming bro. thanks very much. I also want to start out at a consulting firm if given the opportunity, it opens up the whole enginnering sector like an overview. but will prefer an oil consulting firm. conversely, I believe your boss will love to see you move ahead but just let him know only when you've gotten your admission letter. we have to move and think farther than our bosses cos every one has is own life to live. moreover, he will proudly say he mentored you when he hears that you now consult for the works division of the Canadian government or now working in a company like PCL or Balfour Beatty.
bro, the sky is just the starting point. Abi no be so? especially when you are in the land of opportunities.....canny on ma mind. lol
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by SURGEE(m): 10:43pm On Aug 30, 2014
einsteino: Honestly I am still very much confused. My job has exposed me to all aspects of civil engr and I am finding it hard to pick one over another. I wish I could just do all in one package as in an M.civil as some countries do. Nonetheless, I will choose either transportation engr, structural engr or geotech engr.
I also have the same feel but I haven't practised that much compared to your wealth of experience. I was actually checking through university of Manitoba and it stated that practicing engineers are better go for M.Eng rather than M Sc in civil engineering where the required qualification is just a bachelors degree. so I think a M Eng in Civil will do but your thesis will just be in requisite specialty.
consequently, Alberta school of civil engineering raps up the mining and petroleum engineering division together which is my own foci already. I just hope to specialize in petroleum engineering and start looting Alberta's oil reserves and also getting paid doing so.lol.
Good to meet you senior engineer.

einsteino: Pls I have a B.Engr Civil Engineering from the univerity of Nigeria(second class upper) and intend to do an M.Eng at university of alberta. I also have the intention of getting a job in canada after my studies. I was told by someone that employers are reluctant to employ someone who does not have a first degree from their school(in this case canadian sch) irrespective of the M.eng that was gotten from their sch? Pls is this true?
hello everyone, pls do we have anyone who as applied to the university of Alberta for a grad program, kindly detail on there entry requirement and can someone substitute IELTS with a letter of instruction from ones undergrad university that courses taken was in English, as I want to believe that this works with MUN.

manmeta: You may need to assess yourself if a year experience will contribute in fetching you the minimum 60 points. Pls check. Otherwise, if you're bent on migrating, you may have to consider the student visa route.
thanks 4 d reply. Its like u'r suggesting the student visa indirectly. Ok thanks pls any other tips will be highly appreciated.
TravelRe: General Australian Visa Enquiries by SURGEE(m): 10:45pm On Jul 01, 2013
manmeta: Philosophically speaking, life only mirrors what you present to it.

If you're trying to claim experience in IT, I believe ACS will be the relevant assessing body. To be sincere, (if I'm correct) most assessors will first reckon with your first degree rather than your subsequent ones.

My example: I'm an Engineer with a BSc in my field and a MSc in a sector of that field. Engineers Australia PRIMARILY assessed me on my BSc and an appendage assessment was also given to my MSc even though I studied it abroad. There are three levels you may claim from Engineers Australia: 1. Engineering Manager. 2. Professional Engineer 3. Engineering Technician. I knew my qualifications and years off experience suit a Professional Engineer. I applied for that and I got it. As I continue to practise here, in 10 to 15 years from now, I qualify to be a Engineering Manager (the highest level). See.

If I were you, I will still present my BSc in History & Strategic studies but when I'm writing the report for my application, I'll base my application PRIMARILY on my CISCO, MITP, etc certificates and MSc and seek to be assessed for relevant level. In my own case, say I have an HND, I'd have gone for Engineering Technician. Once I arrive here, I'd work it up from there to the highest level I desire.

Did you get the drift?
my bros, thank God am meeting an engineer. Pls do u think i can put in for Assessment on completn of my B.TECH in Civil Engr dis year or after Nysc nxt year prior to EA's assesment, seriouly am nt thinking of doing the nysc gan self and can i put in as a professional engineer considering the years of experience? As at nw, i just have a year experience in my field. Thanks
