Yea. The issue is, suspense is not good for the heart.
My brother, DreManuel is very right. Some of us have deadlines that wouldn't respect PTDF's scholarship once they are reached. Hence the need to know whats up from PTDF on time as we need to resume September 2017. FlexisafSupport, please can you give us an update on when the list will be released?

You guys are really doing a great job.

Gracias!!

What about those that refuse returning?
Kai! Rocorleone my guy, You don reach here again?!! Anyway its good. We need to quickly know how far with PTDF shey!!!! grin......coded guy!!

Baba you don't need to come back o if the immigration policy of the country you're going to favours you. I think PTDF also understands that a good number of decent oil and gas jobs are scarce in the country, hence its relaxation of its policies on coming back to the country.

Though being a scholar may possibly give an edge, it shouldn't be banked upon in a country where nepotism and connections are the order of the day. This also does not mean that all PTDF returnee scholars would not be able to secure good jobs in Nigeria but all i'm trying to say is that we shouldn't loose touch with the realities of Nigeria's job market.

On the other hand, How parole naaa!!! Make we see for the other room abeg!!! cheesy

#badt guy....Don't worry PTDF go select us!!

Our case is different!!

OVERRELIGIOUSITY is one of the reasons why Nigeria is like this. We tend to b illogical and attribute help and problems for God to solve without working and striving for it. Nigerians believe by going to churches and mosques all their problems will b solved thereby making d country lack creativity, innovation and advancement.

We have more religious centres in almost all places with industries only in few selected states. We are the most religious yet the most corrupt cos we are bad with no human feeling. We believe we can get away with any bad deeds by visiting the religious centres and giving alms regularly and pray for forgiveness of God. The so called leader in d religious centre wil pray for u extremely thereby giving u self- contentment and self-worth.

The advanced country has churches and mosques but have many industries in all places. They are fair in judgement and believe in hard work and innovation to achieve success and seek God mercy. There is no difference btw poor and rich in terms of dressing, housing and neccessity things in life. They give their citizens welfare packages and benefits.

Is this not what religious country like Nigeria should do if actually u guys are sincere. Are we not rich enough? Corruption has killed us and even religious centres are propgating them. How can u accept million dollars as religious alms without ask even asking for its source. Majority of Nigerians are hypocrites. The bad leaders we have are reflection of the society.
Nothing is faked except it has an Original. smiley There is always an original version of this religiosity or spirituality as the case may be.

I got inspired by what jnyuwa02 just shared. I nearly wanted to advice anyone aspiring for a higher degree in the health sector to quickly copy the rationale behind what he was writing wink, not knowing the idea was actually his research thesis. Bro, that a very good one!!!. I'm really impressed. Yea!! very nice. cheesy

To those seeking admission into a research program and hence need to get a supervisor, the following tips may probably be of help. I have actually sent them to some people here on PMs. The more we start seeing research from this standpoint, the higher our chances of getting into a research program and the less we need to worry about hometie.

Please read with an open heart and don't hesitate to add-to or criticize this write up.

TIPS

Always propose a research proposal that solves a problem in your field of study but also has an undertone of your supervisor's research interest.

You can try to create rationales or problem statements from projected or current challenges facing Nigeria, Africa, or the World in your field of study, taking into account some of the global issues presently facing our world. An example of this is climate change, ..Global issues like this can even open up the supervisor's mindset in to how his or her research work can be scaled up for global impact........In order words, let the supervisor see you in his/her future.

One question I think everyone writing a research proposal should put to mind is : What problem(s) do i intend to solve and how can this supervisor be of help in solving these problems? This does not mean that you shouldn't intelligently create problems from the supervisors area of interest, in fact, the supervisor's interest should ultimately form the basis of your thinking or reasoning, but let your research proposal be clear enough on the problem you intend to solve.

Research without solving issues, challenges, or problems is a waste of time and energy and this shouldn't be funded.

Why should a research be conducted and funded in the first place if not to solve a problem, improve existing theories, methodologies, strategies or systems as the case maybe. This is why every research is expected to lead to development one way or the other.

So, applicants who desire a funded research program need to start thinking locally, continentally and globally about problems in their
various specializations and most importantly in their supervisor's area of interest.

Ruminate about current and projected future problems that is or may affect Nigeria, Africa and the World in your area of study and propose
possible ways you and your supervisor can have them solved.

****Note*****************************

1. Write your letters as if you are talking to the supervisor eye to eye. Let him or her feel your pulse. Forget all the too formal or standardized
way of writing, they've seen so many of it and it's not attractive any more.

2. Write to the supervisor as if you are given 3 - 4 mins to woo him/her into being your research supervisor. Write it the way you would say or woo in him/her.

*************************************

And lastly, God,,,God.....God!!! Only God. Dont leave God out of it. Rely on him for ideas and talk to him before writing or even sending any research proposal, ask for his direction and wisdom cos God can consciously and unconsciously guide you to the right supervisor to write to and before you know it, he or she is already interested in your case.
A little prayer will do!......Remember, the heart of kings is in his hands.

Supervisors with good funding would beckon at you this season.

Remain Positive

Disclaimer: The above tips may not be so relevant in some very specialized programs.

Hello Surgee, London may not be the best place but I would prefer it by far than living in Toronto and much less in Montreal. As the say goes to each his own wink

I don't know much about Waterloo though it isn't very far from London. I always pass by on my way to Toronto. It is often considered twin cities with Kitchener and often be refered to as Kitchener-Waterloo. I work with a good number of people who commute daily from Kitchener-Waterloo to London.
I have head a lot about the University of Waterloo and it has a good reputation.
When you get to Waterloo, please update the thread.
Okay. Thank you very much for the information Sir. I will also update the house immediately i land by God's grace. Abeg remember in your prayers oooo (TRV Hopeful)...... cheesy

Getting an apartment in London was very easy for me. From my perception, there is greater supply than demand in London as oppose to greater demand than supply in places like Toronto. You can go on kijiji to check apartments in London and get in touch with landlords via pohone or email.

As for the cost of preschool for children, Kindergarten is free. A child has to be 4 years old of age to start Kindergarten. Any child under 4 should be put in daycare. The cost of daycare may be around $50 per day. But, if you are a permanent resident, you can apply for financial assistance from the government.
Mr thecongo2 should pls be tagged the Mayor of London, Ontario. He's so in love with the city and I love that Sir.

Could you possibly give me some general nuggets about living in Waterloo, Just anything you've heard or know about the city. I'm heading to uWaterloo this fall by Gods grace (TRV Hopeful) and will like to just learn something about the city. ( Kitchener-Waterloo)

Thanks.

Checking your cic account everyday has no negative impact on your application. It really doesn't matter to them

If there's anything to check in your cic account, there will first of all be a mail sent to your email address that there's a message in your cic account that you should go and check.

Cheers

It shall end in praise
Once you have successfully linked your application online, kindly dem it fit to check the status of your application from time to time cos CIC may not necessarily send you a mail that you have an update on your account. This happened to me, even though my email was correctly updated they didn't send me any mail when my medicals was passed. I'll also like to encourage anyone who hasn't linked his/her application online to please do so.

My hearty congratulations to CanadianNurse and Shonky. God is ever faithful.

Please this goes out to all of us who applied with upfront medicals to CIC and have been getting medicals passed in just 1 or 2 weeks after application. I think the way they review application files have changed from Background Check to Medical. It is now Medical - Background - Review of Eligibility. So, Yea! get excited! but don't be carried away. Let us keep firing in our prayers for immediate approval as well as positive review of our Eligibility and Backgrounds.

I have a degree in Chemistry but I worked as a business development manager for 3 years in Nigeria. I applied for a 2 year PGD in Global business management in North Island College in 2014. I got a student visa and I finished my program last December. I have a good full time job today in Vancouver. YES MY DEAR ITS POSSIBLE TO GET YOUR VISA. Just prove that you have been in business since your graduation. Write a good SOP. I wrote that although I studied chemistry, I have been in the business environment since I graduated and I want to get the theoretical knowledge of what am doing and how it will help me in my career goal as a business analyst. I had a 2.2 in chemistry and it was difficult getting an admission for an MBA so I went for a PGD. I will go for an MBA after I get my PR.
Believe in your dream and package yourself. I ended up winning best international student award in business school and I also made the deans list.

Do the house not think one should confirm from them or something if this Foreign Reference/Bank Assurance whatever is been called is applicable to EVERYBODY seeking for a study permit and that the usual letter of reference/guarantee will not suffice?

Or am I just the only one thinking this way? Cos this reference tingin is driving me nut!!!

I even met with one of the officials of Zenith Bank who happens to be abreast of this foreign reference tingin but also of the view that if at all my request will fly that it will be from the headquarters cos there's a template that CBN bla bla bla....just the same story from first bank....
My brother, We cannot come and kill ourselves faa. I even spoke to a Branch Manager at Zenith Bank and he said they cant issue such letter or something. Abeg make we just attach the CBN Circular to our application and cull out some of the vital points relevant to the possibility of getting funds Exported to Canada in our SOP. My thoughts dou!!

Please can someone post the Circular here for us to analyse and see how we can frame some of the CBN relevant policies in the SOP to our advantage.

For those of us who havent submitted an application for a study permit. Kindly read this http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-how-documents.asp#doc3

Where i'm trying to lay emphasis on is the Section 3 which talks about Proof of Financial Support and then a part that says......

.......If there are foreign-exchange control measures in your country, you must provide proof that the exchange control authorities will allow you to export funds for all of your expenses......

I think we can easily provide proof by including the CBN circular and if possible, get a letter from the Bank on the new CBN (Exchange Control Authority) to the Embassy and that the amount required for tuition and/or living expenses as the case may be, will be allowed for exporting. I think we can also mention this in our SOP/LOE under the financial matters section.

This i guess may reduce the processing time on our application if documents on 'getting funds exported to Canada' are added to our application even from the on set.

Note: the Webpage was also updated this month - 1st May, 2017

Cheers

Very true bro. I am very well familiar with the latest happenings on getting funds ready to be exported abroad. My plan is to get that stuff done to apply for visa first and by God's grace once my hustle clicks, i can personally put funds into the account to settle the living expenses palava.
It will end in praise.
Austinpee4:
Funny enough, with the recent development, all applicant MUST have funds for study available. There will be no such thing as borrow anymore because an applicant either will show the embassy that money is already domiciled in canada or the bank will assure the embassy that funds are on deposit and will be transfered to canada.

So how will a bank give such assurances when kobo no dey the akant again after submission? The reality now is that person MUST get money for study in canada.

The prayer now go be say make the embassy send that mail to get assurance from the bank if person never pay or transfer any fees/funds. It's even more important now than medical mail because application still get refused after medical call but that recent mail from IRCC give more confidence of an approval if the bank assurances are given.
