Looks like she corrected yall. She is still going to call it what it is to her. This twit Ybutterfly wasted her energy, and anyone else who tries to correct an American for calling a sport what they know it as will be wasting their energy. From what I read, football was mentioned to her, therefore she recognized it as she knows it, not as you do. Yall look stupid as hell trying to make her call it what yall call it. LMAO!!! Damn DUMB!

she can call it how ever she wants but when Nigerians are saying football in nairaland(they always mean international football) and she mistaken it for American football when Nigerians don't care for American football or even recognize it, then she made a mistake

Ybuttertfly may seem loony/crazy......which is true at times but she is correct here

this is not a American forum where she can assume we are talking about American football

So what. It's called soccer in America, why should she change what she knows it as for you?
Nobody is telling her to change it

but nairaland is not america, it is for nigerians. If you mention football to non-americans they are talking about international football not American football

she should have known better.....and she got corrected for it

It's invevitable that many Nigerians will become beige as well. It may not be as predominant as it is in the US, but there will be beige folks running up and through Naija whether you like it or not. I'm not sayn EVERYONE, but there will be some white washed negroes in West Africa.

Not in Nigeria...........maybe albino's but not.......white something you call it

I'm not talking about America.............it is inevitable there that they turn beige......not concerned about how blackness is kept in the AA group

Who are you to say who this board is made for? This is the world wide web, and people are free to come and go on this board as they please whether you like it or not. Why wouldn't you go to an AA board? On the boards I frequent, you would be more than welcomed to join in the conversation. You exclude yourself, we don't exclude you. Matter of fact, I am throwing out an invitation to you to go to the boards I frequent. The links are in my siggy. The most popular one in "My Urban Hangout". The folks there would welcome you with virtual open arms.

And those that like Africans too much are the same as those that dislike us - Condescending!!!

Try to put these kinds of statements in proper context next time though. A non-African professor of African history at some university may know certain details of African history better than the average African and know certain things that the average African generally doesn't - for example, when this or that treaty was signed between an African group and a European representative, or what exactly was traded at some time in the 17th century between two different groups, etc., but there are certain things that that person simply can't know or understand unless he goes straight to the actual Africans for information and clarification. There are many instances where this applies with regard to African history.

And when you start to talk of non-professors/scholars etc., I would say that on some issues there's some pretty glaring ignorance on certain parts of African history from many non-Africans actually. There's also some ignorance from some Africans, but I doubt it generally outweighs that of the non-Africans.

Tell the AA ms. know it all, that thinks she knows more the Africans

Okontami: Akata or no Akata, we are all free about our opinions. Let us listen more so we can understand how much people know about us and their ignorance. We don't have to rain curses and abuses, all we need is to inform and educate others. A whole lot of foreigners don't know that Africa is a continent, they feel Africa is a country. I met a chap that cant even believe Egypt is in Africa. Cos, it beats his imagination that such land marks could be in Africa. Lets continue to inform and educate them. I consulted for a dutch company recently and the chaps kept asking me how come i have so much grip and command. Few of them know a lot about us and are very good ambassadors at spreading the right view about Africa. They know we are very competitive and very proud people, never taking no for an answer. We are just rugged, but plenty wahala dey ground o. I rest my case

True but when you have ones claiming they know more of our lands & culture then we that's where the problem starts

Other than that, most times you are extremely welcomed to join in in our conversations. We could learn alot from each other without the ruckus from either side.
