Valto: but an electric car buyer, should first of all have a good means of charging the car.. that means lots of millions spent on an efficient solar setup! but non the less.... The people that are eager to buy the most, are people who have a large array already we are talking of 20KW and above.... The first house i saw victron and fronius being combined, the house had a 40kw array, producing 150kwh a day na normal thing for the man setup.... Some days e de hit 180kwh a day...but its just a house of a family of four, the couple plus two children....setup like this na electric car(s) remain to take all the excess... |

Valto: but an electric car buyer, should first of all have a good means of charging the car.. that means lots of millions spent on an efficient solar setup! if you still wan use nepa no wam... If you can draw 7.2KW from nepa for just ten hours.... That should be enough to run you 400km on average before next charge,..if you rarely drive above 100km/h you can get up to 500km of range with AC.... With even band A and its high price, a typical 75Kwh battery can be charged for less than 18,000 naira worth of electricity,..... My house is on band B.....That same 75kwh battery if i use nepa charge am e no go chop up to 6,000 naira worth of electricity... abeg which car today wey 18k fuel go carry am from abuja to kaduna and back to abuja without refuel.... |

litaninja: That foreseeing will never come to pass in the next 5 - 10 years. The country has no manufacturing industry / sector to speak of and no basic infrastructure. You can't produce vehicles in isolation or out of thin air. before GSM, naija electricity infrastructure was not the best.. But we went from 2G...3G...5G....some people that never used landline, never used nokia torchlight with 2G...there first phone na 5G...serious jumping if you ask me... Electric cars will thrive without waiting for proper infrastructure trust me. |

isangjohnson: When the big truck is coming, just clear it by the road side . I doubt if there is any charging station in Nigeria. I'm sure people are working on that project and I'm also waiting to hear the cost and the materials used. I guess people are charging their electric cars at home now using PV and NEPA light. Pv is the best option ẞom there is a charging station in apo next to dansville plaza after apo Bridge... Its inside one government auto office..... There is another one in jabi lake mall... That one six cars can charge at the same time.... There is another one in wuse 2 near exclusive Stores.... Its inside a restaurant... Sterling bank have one in lagos... Every House with socket is a potential charge point... It may be slow but its still cheaper than petrol |

odimbannamdi: Demand for Fuel following increased prices is inelastic in nature, meaning even if they sell fuel for 2000/litre today, people will still buy. But the demand will be very elastic in the future as people will actively look for and be more receptive to alternatives to fuel.
We are already seeing a lot of adoption of solar energy as an alternative to fuel for domestic application. Next in line are solar-powered or electric vehicles. One good thing this whole fuel crisis is going to do for us is eventual uncoupling or reduced dependence on fuel, at least for the transportation sector. It may look impossible, but it is doable.
I forsee an EV/solar energy company producing vehicles suitable for our market, especially as regards budget. It will definitely open up new opportunities as well. solar powered vehicle? Like to power the radio and lights abi? Cause the amount of panels you need to turn the four tires at up to even 50km/h no be small thing o. |

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by swagifted(m): 9:50am On May 01, 2024 |
to be honest , if nigeria had net metering and the grid was highly reliable and also the agreement is 1kwh for 1kwh (i supply the grid 1kwh with my solar in the afternoon and the grid gives me back the 1kwh in the night), i will not take a hybrid over an ON grid inverter, the grid is essentially my battery so why spend so much on batteries?....as much as i love hybrids(because nepa too de take light), they don't last as long as on grids only. Dam5reey: Hybrids are here to stay and have stood the test of time already. why are people still contemplating? Hybrid gives you an Inverter, Charger, and MPPT, cheaper than any standalone.
example with 250K. you can have a 3kva inverter with 60A charger, 80A MPPT, go and price stand-alone equivalent.
Hybrid allows you to customize slightly when grid charge, how much grid charge, when Solarcharge, Only Solar charge during the day and Grid charge in the night, etc. with standalone, you need to have good know-how and other tools to achieve these. |
