uzoo: What i am going to advice here may be quite hard for you to accept but trust me in a few months time you'll be glad you did this.

you need to chop it all out using a pair of scissors.Yes ,you might feel a bit emotional about doing this but if you can go through the hassle of maintaining two textures(relaxed and new growth) on the little ones hair then its fine.But if not then please cut it .

once you have cut it to the level where the natural hair ( new growth) is, then its much easier to start maintaining the hair from there.

once you start making her hair again , braids, corn rows, or even using wool thread then get a detangling spray. ( for a natural african kids hair you really have to use this spray 3 times daily.) This is what will help you manage the hair properly when ever you want to comb , or when ever you want to take out the braids or weave,(corn rows).
it softens the air ,also get a sulfate free shampoo and wash her hair once or twice a week,dont forget to use a conditioner after washing .leave it on the damp hair for say 20 to 30 m ins and rinse off.

The hair should never be left dry , so oil her scalp with natural oils in the mornings(coconut oil ,or olive oil, or castor oil), then use moisturising lotions for the rest of the hair , try to make her hair once a week.Dont use salon products , they are not kind to children's hair.

when making her hair in the salon(weaving,braids etc) ensure that they dont pull the edges around her face or neck or ears,its tender and breaks away when the hair is due for washing and it hurts too.

Tip.

If you really want her hair to grow quicker try making it using threads, the ones our grannies use in the villages .. (lol) i know its outdated and doesnt look as pretty as braids and the rest , but it stretches the hair , and makes it easy to take out and ready for washing without tangles. All you do is just pull the thread gently and it releases the hair like a rotating fan . You get the picture.That was my hair style up until i got into secondary school.(lol)

Helooooo we r talking about 'babies' not adults and u just said when ur baby was 'small' every lil thing u run 2 d hospital, why? because u feel that's d right place 4 u to go even when other ppl tell u 2 use this or that,i also went 2 d hospital 4 every lil thing even to ask 4 a good food 4 my second child and I also tell mothers that come 2 me and ask what I'm feeding my kids(cos they r chubby)2 go to their baby doctor first.So let her do her own 'going 2 d hospital 4 every lil thing' thingy now then when d child is old enough and she knows everything then she can stop frequent visit 2 d hospital.

@jade we can't be so sure about this drugs,if doctors say we shouldn't use them so why should we?I used it 4 my first child like I stated in my comment and I also know other children that used it and it didn't harm them that was 6yrs ago,don't u think doctors wud av done their research for them 2 say it.You and I know that there are some products we once used yrs back n l8r they tell us its not good cos it contains someting that is bad 4 d health or it causes cancer e.g Bro mate,hydroquinone etc.....

Many mothers would tell u different food like 4 me I wud say cerelac and sma but pls go to ur baby's doctor cos they know her medical history and he/she is in better place 2 tell u d kind of food 2 give ur baby and pls don't give ur baby Golden morn now.

Pls missmishel,doctors had advised mothers 2 stop using silver bird for their children especially on their fontanelle ( d soft spot on their head),I didn't know until last 2yrs when I gave birth 2 my 2nd child cos I used it 4 my 1st child,they confirmed that it was 2 strong 4 babies and it actually killed some babies.

Pls do not take any drugs except paracetamol that is when u av started weaning.I wont lie it is indeed painful especially when you av a big breast like me#lol#and pls don't drink hot water or massage ur breast with hot water cos it wud just make u produce more milk and don't extract d milk as well cos ur body wud also produce milk.I used hot water and I felt so much pain that I started crying,my breast was so big and painful (this was for a week) I didn't know I was using d wrong method until someone told me about 'ice block'and when I used it,d next day my milk dried up(its just like when u r using ice block 4 a swollen part of d body)also stay away from pap or foods u eat that made u produce much milk and pls talk 2 ur doctor about it

Pls mothers in d house don't just give drugs or do things for ur baby without informing ur baby's doctor,I feel this thread is 4 us 2 share our opinions n also review things n products we've used for our babies that as helped.If anyone prescribes drugs,don't just go and use it for ur baby without d knowledge of ur doctor
