Governor Wike Replies to APC Threats: Rivers People will never support violence

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has told President Muhammadu Buhari that Rivers people will never support violence as being orchestrated by leaders of Rivers APC.

Speaking during an interactive session between President Muhammadu Buhari and traditional rulers of Rivers State in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Governor Wike said leaders who have imported war songs will not succeed.

The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi at the APC Presidential Campaign Rally, sang a war song in Igbo Language, threatening to unleash violence on Rivers State during the forthcoming elections.

"Rivers State does not believe in violence and we will not support any dance for violence.

"Those who sing other people's song for violence, they know what they achieve. They know what they gain", he said.

Governor Wike assured Nigerians that the evil plots to fuel violence by the APC will fail.

"I want to assure the President that Rivers State is a peaceful state . It will never be a violent state. I will not support violence and Rivers people will not support violence", he said.

In his address, Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that security agencies act professionally during the forthcoming elections. He said that security agencies should not join the fray and complicate the issues of electoral violence.

The Rivers Traditional Rulers lamented the closure of the seaports in Rivers State which have negatively affected the economy of the area. They called for restructuring of the country so that all parts of the Federation will grow at their own pace and control their resources.

The Traditional Rulers called for free, fair and credible polls in Rivers State. They appealed to the President to check the tide of violence in the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari stated that law enforcement agencies would be asked to respect Nigerians and that elections will be free and fair.

The President said nobody will be allowed to intimidate people. He added that the snatching of ballot boxes will be discouraged.

Buhari said that his administration has achieved the three cardinal points of his 2015 campaign. He said that security, economy and fight against corruption have witnessed improvements.

Over four Persons Die In Rivers APC Presidential Campaign Rally Stampede

Over four Persons are feared dead in a stampede at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt after the Rivers APC Presidential Campaign Rally.

The person's were trampled to death after they struggled to leave the stadium before the conclusion of the rally on Tuesday .

On the arrival of President Muhammadu Buhari, the people tried to exit, but the gates were locked by organisers. It was during the struggled that they were trampled.

During the PDP Presidential Campaign at the same venue, no life was lost because the gates were left open for the crowd to go in and out.

VOTE PDP FOR NIGERIA TO RETURN TO THE DAYS OF PERFORMANCE -- GOVERNOR WIKE.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has charged Nigerians to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the country for Nigeria to return to the days of performance and development.

Addressing thousands of supporters during the PDP Campaign Rally at Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Saturday, Governor Wike said that it is only under the PDP that sustained development can take place.

He said: "PDP is not a party of excuses. It is a party founded on development . It is a party of performance. That is why Nigerians must return to the PDP".

The governor urged the people of Rivers State to vote massively for Atiku Abubakar for the revival of the seaports killed by the non-performing APC Federal Government in the state.

"Atiku Abubakar through quality economic policies will revive the Trans-Amadi Industrial Estate and the two seaports in Rivers State.

"Atiku Abubakar will create jobs and ensure that the government works for the good of all Nigerians", he said.

While acknowledging Obio/Akpor as the Local Government Area with the highest number of registered voters in the state, Governor Wike urged the people to cast 90percent of their votes for the PDP and her candidates.

Governor Wike advised PDP members to ensure that the party wins all the 359 polling units of the Local Government Area. He said that political patronage would be based on winning of polling units.

"You must deliver your polling unit. Victory of the polling unit is the ticket to political appointments. We don't want to hear any excuse that your polling unit result was snatched. You must protect the results ", he said.

The governor advised the people not to be deceived by INEC claims that they will organise credible polls. He said they should remain vigilant to protect their votes.

He said that the PDP remains sure of victory in Rivers State because his administration has satisfied the people.

Speaking further, Governor Wike said only those who have impacted positively on the state should contest elections or promote candidates. He said as a Minister he attracted development to the state. He wondered why the Minister of Transportation has failed Rivers People, despite his opportunities in the failed APC Federal Government.

Buhari reveals how APC won Osun governorship with ‘remote control’



President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, while appealing to traditional rulers in Osun State to support his reelection to enable his administration consolidate on its achievements, revealed that APC was able to win the state’s governorship election held months back with the aid of remove control.

Buhari, who failed to provide details of what he meant by remote control, said: “I know how much trouble we had in the last election here. I know by remote control through so many sources how we managed to maintain the party (APC) in power in this state.”

The President said this while interacting with the monarchs led by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan at the banquet hall of Osun State Government House.

Buhari, received on arrival along with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo by Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola and his entourage, said the APC has recorded gains in the areas of infrastructural hence the need for the people to return the administration to consolidate on the achievement its has made in the last three years.

He urged the traditional rulers to join hands with his government to tackle the menace of insecurity, assuring that his government was working towards providing social service programmes and soft loans to farmers to boost the agriculture sector of the economy. Oba Wahab Kayode Oyedotun, speaking on behalf of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi who arrived later, assured President Buhari of victory at the February 16 Presidential election.

President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Chief Justice of Nigeira (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, pending the completion of his trial at the Code of Condcut Tribunal.

President Buhari announced the suspension at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja He said the suspension followed the order of the CCT directing him to suspend Onnoghen, pending the completion of his trial.

Despite the widely-reported cries of hunger by internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the north-east and the acute malnutrition ravaging their children, 162,696 bags of rice donated by the Chinese government to the IDPs have been abandoned and left to rot in stores belonging to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

According to the United Nations, Nigeria is still facing a crisis of global magnitude with 7.7 million people in need of humanitarian assistance in the north east.

In June 2017, the Chinese government had donated and shipped a total of 6,779 metric tons of rice, which is 271 trucks and approximately 162,696 bags of rice into the country’s seaport meant for distribution to IDPs in the north-east as food assistance.


Hunger in the land yet these bags wasting away

Government agencies, like the ministry of budget and national planning, ministry of agriculture, ministry of finance and NEMA were tasked with different responsibilities of receiving, clearing, storage, transportation and distribution of the consignments to the IDPs.

But one year later, after the food items were cleared from the port, they have not reached their destinations – even after another N161m was said to have been spent on transportation, delivery and logistics.

In April, while testifying in company of an official of the Nigeria Customs Service before the house of representatives ad hoc committee on emergency and disaster preparedness, Mustapha Maihaja, director-general of NEMA, denied that the rice was missing.



Maihaja told the committee that the first batch was cleared from the ports and stored in a warehouse in Maiduguri, Borno state, and Yola in Adamawa state.

However, the state governments where the beneficiaries are have denied receiving any single bag of rice from the consignment purported to have been delivered and distributed to the IDPs by NEMA.

Meanwhile, a report by the investigative committee indicted the governing board of NEMA, chaired by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, and recommended the dismissal of Maihaja over breach of public trust and alleged fraudulent practices.

In a telephone interview with TheCable, Sani Datti, NEMA spokesperson, said it is not true that the whole consignment is still with NEMA.

He said the organisation started distributing them last year.

“The distribution started last year. Some of the items are still there and they are being distributed monthly. It’s not that we kept them. We distributed them directly to the beneficiaries. You know the items are large in quantity. I’m a little bit busy right now. You can get my attention later,” Datti said.

When asked to clarify the issues raised in the report by the house of rep committee, he said, “Don’t mind that report. We have our own submission; we’ve made it available. I’ll make it available to you.”

Datti, however, has not responded to inquiries sent to him to provide more information on the quantity of rice distributed so far, the ones still with NEMA and their current condition, the states that have received the items and when they were distributed.

GOVERNOR WIKE BERATES APC FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR STOPPING PRINCE CHARLES FROM COMING TO SOUTH-SOUTH

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has berated the APC Federal Government for shielding Prince Charles of Wales from the neglected Niger Delta that produces the nation's wealth.

Speaking when he granted audience to international preacher, Evangelist Daniel Kolenda at Government House Port Harcourt on Thursday, Governor Wike wondered what parameters were used in confining the Prince of Wales to Abuja and Lagos.

He said the actions of the APC Federal Government in the course of the visit of Prince of Wales undercored the negativity that has characterised governance under the present administration.

He said: "The Prince of Wales came to Nigeria and they took him to Abuja and Lagos. They didn't want him to see the suffering people of the Niger Delta.

"It is our money and resources that they used to develop Lagos and Abuja. Yet they did not want the Prince of Wales to see how they have neglected the area that produces the wealth of the nation.

"Look at the sitting arrangement of their photograph with the Prince of Wales and where they placed the producers of national wealth?".

He said that the action of the APC Federal Government is very painful.

Governor Wike commended the leaders of CFAN for coming to Rivers State, despite the plots by the APC Federal Government to de-market oil oil producing states.

Davido endorses wike 1 million youth movement for reelection, a movement that is swearing across the Rivers state and popular amongst the youth. The governor and musician were joined by the PDP chairman of Rivers state and other party stalwards.

The PDP won the 2014 Ekiti gubernatorial elections and celebrated because they thought it was a pointer to victory in 2015. But we all know how that turned out. Barely months to the 2019 elections, history is repeating itself so APC had better be careful how they pop the champagne and celebrate.

Following the botched APC ward elections in Rivers state that saw minister of transportation, rotimi ameachi and state chairman of APC in Rivers state highjack the process from the party secretariat to Intels estate. 1. Early this morning, members of the State Working Committee addressed a press conference at the APC Secretariat in Port Harcourt.

2. Deputy State Chairman of the Rivers APC, Chief Peter Odike, lead the Youth leader, Legal Adviser, Welfare Officer, State Auditor, Senatorial Vice Chairmen of Rivers south-East and Rivers East, Assistant Youth Leader, ex officios and many other members of the SWC of the party in the press conference which was attended by thousands of party members.

3. What necessitated the press conference was when thousands of party faithful across the 319 wards of the state who had duly obtained tellers from designated banks by the APC national and paid money for the nomination forms into the party’s dedicated accounts got to the secretariat to obtain their nomination forms only to discover that all the nomination forms have been hijacked on the orders of Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to INTELS camp facility in Port Harcourt.

4. The State Secretariat of the party where all party activities are supposed to take place was, as is still deserted. Faithful Party members raising their bank tellers to members of the press are only those seen at the APC secretariat. Chief Dr Ikanya has relocated to the INTELS camp in Port Harcourt under heavy security guard where he is colluding with Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to subvert the will of APC members.

5. The effect of the shenanigans perpetrated by Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Dr Ikanya is that party members have paid money for nomination forms, yet, no form has been issued to them few hours to the ward congresses. All the nomination forms are in possession of Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi at INTELS camp where on his instruction, the forms are being issued to some persons and a list of purportedly elected ward officers of compiled ahead of the congresses.

Are old men all that Nigeria has to offer? Old president and older ambassador.. No wonder the youths are called lazy because we sit around and allow these things to be perpetuated.
