Following the attack St Phillips Catholic Church in Ozubulu has been subjected to after it was alleged that last Sunday's massacre in the church was a business deal gone wrong between two drug lords, one of whom had donated a building to the church, Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev Hilary Odili Okeke, has explained why the church does not investigate the source of income of those who give it offerings and donations.

Bishop Hillary Okeke said;

"If you get the information that the person is making his money through a dubious way in criminality, then you know what to do. It is not just a question of anybody who brings money or offers anything to the church, you go to the police and ask them to investigate this man’s source of wealth before you accept it. It is not done. If you do it, then even in the church we should not be accepting any money because evil people can come to church and give. It is God who knows if the person is giving the money from criminal or immoral source. God knows everybody and will reward the person accordingly. If you know that the person is a criminal that is when you now tell him, my man go and change.”he said

He also lashed out at some parishioners who have called for his resignation following the attack.

“They themselves will resign first. If they want me to resign, let them resign first. Let them resign. People just open their mouth and begin to say what they like and you should not listen to all that people say. If people who know everything will come out and bring any criminality upon the bishop, bishop will take action, the church will take action. Not that someone opens his mouth to say whatever he likes. They are free to say whatever they want to say.”

In continuation of its onslaught on militants operating from the creeks, Lagos State Police Command early this morning raided and recovered seven army and police bullet proof vests, eight ballistic helmets and nine life jackets from a new kidnappers hideouts in Ishawo, Ikorodu, Lagos.

The hideout was discovered at about 8:00 a.m yesterday by a team of Ikorodu Special Anti – Robber Squad (SARS) and Volunteer Police led by Superintendent Godfrey Soriweiu.

This success came two weeks after the discovery of a similar hideout in Ishawo, Ikorodu, Lagos.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Owoseni had two weeks ago charged the team to embark on a continuous combing of the Lagos waterways and creeks in search of suspected kidnappers.

The suspected kidnappers, who were preparing their morning meal scampered into safety on sighting the special team abandoning several items.

Other items recovered by the team includes a speedboat belonging to the suspected kidnappers.

The team thereafter destroyed the hideout before moving the recovered items out of the location.

Details has emerged on how the ‘yet to be identified’ University of Benin student drowned in River Benue during the just concluded Nigeria Universities Games Association (NUGA) which held at Benue state and hosted by the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

According to a closed friend of the deceased who spoke with Campus Gist on the condition of anonymity, James was warned not go beyond a particular point at the river which he failed to obey.

Coursemates of the deceased who lamented the unfortunate incident described Late James as a loving and playful fellow.

One of his friends (and probably an eyewitness) who took to their class Whatsapp group said the incident was quite unfortunate and could have been avoided.

According to him, he (James) and his team have been visiting the river for 3days. For some weird reasons, he decided to venture deep inside the river, which he eventually drowned.

“It is just crazy why one would decide to swim in one of the biggest River in Nigeria, a highly diabolic one for that matter”, he lamented.

“It was just sudden. He just went down, no struggle, no shout.

“Local fishermen found his body two hours after the incident”, he added.

The body of late James has since been deposited in Madonna Hospital, Makurdi, Premium Times reports.

Until his death, James was a 200level student of the department of Medical Laboratory Science, school of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Benin.

Unconfirmed reports has it that James was born Twin. His twin brother who was said to have collapsed on hearing the ugly incident, is currently recuperating at the hospital.

Women prefer court marriage because a lot of them know that it is usually difficult to annul, plus it scares men off from having extra marital affairs even if they do, it makes it impossible to conduct another marriage without the dissolving the first one. it is actually bigamy to marry without dissolving the first one, a crime punishable with atleast two years imprisonment upon conviction. What women fail to realize is that sauce for goose, sauce for the gander, if the men can't do it, the women also cannot do it, plus it takes only the court of law to annul marriage under the act I.e. Marriage Act. I think most women feel that court marriage protects them from their hubby cheating on them. But what of when the man becomes unbearably and deadly violent then it is the woman that will want divorce and suffer, a procedure that is slow, tedious and expensive. I think women most of the time do it out of fear and insecurity. As I see nothing smart in court marriage, marriage is marriage what matters is sinceritym

As for money, nigerians court are generally not keen on allowing gold digging like it is obtainable else where, off course only when issues are involved that maintenance becomes issue. That is even subject to the condition that the man is liquid enough, from experience and as a professional, women rarely do it for money as alimony is seriously downplayed under the extant law.

The alleged killers of Jumia delivery man, Chukwuma Eleje, have been arraigned in court . They appeared before the Port Harcourt magistrate court in Rivers state today and the judge ordered the suspects to be remanded in prison.

Chukwuma was on March 25th, killed by the suspects when he went to deliver iphones and a motorcycle they ordered form the online store. Not wanting to pay, they killed him and dumped his corpse in a septic tank.Luckily, neighbors tipped off the police after noticing strange movements.
