Without even mentioning any of Obiano physical infrastructure as bridges, malls, hotels, airports, roads, intl. conference center and flyovers, let's just look at his Human Development efforts and poverty reduction strategies and achievements. That is where he beat Dave Umahi hands down. Imagine that Obiano somehow even managed to get Anambra to become one of the biggest rice producers in Nigeria! He managed to find ways of stimulating economic growth in almost forgotten communities by building some type of community project in every community and using their own people as the construction folks. So that the money reflates the economy of the community. Umahi only did community projects in his own Uburu and nowhere else in the vast rural communities of Ebonyi state.

By direct comparison to Obiano's efforts in poverty reduction, Umahi has done nothing to directly create jobs for the Ebonyi youths to create a skills acquisition center to empower Ebonyi youths with a trade skill for them to be self-employed. Umahi has not made any effort whatsoever to improve Ebonyi's agricultural advantage or to foster the industrialization of Ebonyi state by providing well-equipped industrial estates to incentivize the setting up of agro-processing factories in his state. All of which would have greatly reduced the crushing poverty rate in his state. Again, I appreciate that Umahi did a lot of flyover bridges, but I have mixed feelings every time I see Ebonyi's poverty rate being worse than the poverty rate in even far northern states! It is an abomination to see such a poverty rate in Igboland and the governor only concentrates on building flyovers to compete with Rivers state!

The only positive thing you said done by Obiano is Pick your community project initiative because it helps spreads development to every community.

Nwokem, without diminishing Umahi's excellent projects,, Obiano performed way better than Umahi.

Apart from Obiano's physical infrastructural projects, he heavily invested in human resources improvement and poverty alleviation projects to reduce poverty in Anambra.

Conversely Umahi used money which could have been wisely invested in education, agriculture and Healthcare to build too many flyovers at irrelevant junctions. This is not to say his countless multicolored flyovers are a bad thing. But if you consider that he ruled the state with the worst poverty in Southern Nigeria and one of the least human development index in Nigeria, his multicolored flyovers where there were no traffic becomes a tragic misuse of public wealth. While we have praised Umahi for doing many concrete roads to ease accessibility to rural parts of Ebonyi state. I believe the money he spent on too many flyovers where there were no traffic gridlock as a tragic waste of precious state resources.

Unike Wike that also built multiple flyovers because he ruled a state with serious traffic problems and relatively more wealthy citizens. Umahi had no such problems. Yet he acted like he had some inferiority complex that flyovers were a symbol of development and to prove Ebonyi was developed he had to have more flyovers. Thus he went on a flyover building spree while other areas of human development suffered.. Umahi's only useful projects are the concrete roads, Abakaliki mall and airport. Even at that it is questionable if those projects will be viable due to the crushing poverty rate in his state. That is why I praise Umahi and bash him sometimes for doing nothing on the poverty alleviation front.Overall I rate Umahi as a great transformative governor, but he could easily have been the greatest Igbo governor since 1999 and done better on all fronts not just on physical infrastructure, and thus be rated as a well rounded governor.
What are the poverty alleviation projects done by Obiano?

PoliticsRe: Peter Obi Is Too Naive And Gentle To Win A Presidential Election by TabletMan: 12:17pm On Mar 01, 2023
You don't know Peter Obi.
He might be everything but not naive or gentle. Unlike Soludo and Obiano, PO tamed the stupidity of Massob within the space of 3 months but we're still struggling with auto-pilot for almost two years in some of our villages.
Peter Obi retire the Godfathers in Anambra politics that even kidnaps a sitting governor.

His chances of winning the Presidential Election in this country are slim. He only has the will and mandate of the people. Governors are very powerful and without you won't go far in the National election. He is likely not to contest anything in court because nothing positive will come out of the court case. Lagos, Plateau, Delta, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom are states where non of his opponents secured 20% votes combined but just check the results declared by Inec.
I will just implore PO supporters to take their L and pray for the new government in Power. Let God guide and direct him to steer our country in the part of economic progress.

His mother is an Igbo woman and his wife is an Igbo woman. What are you saying?

He came out of an Igbo woman and he enters an Igbo woman every day.

He won’t even get up to 15% of the votes.

Tinubu has won and I’m sure Ibos in Lagos need to change their strategy and vote wisely. They might just lessen the punishment that awaits them.

All those flatinoes at festac and other places will be hit with levies. They will have to cough up the money and sell their houses. Ladipo and those thieves at computer village will be visited. Heavy taxes etc await them all.
Iyaloja will then flex her muscles small and those container people will either bow down or carry their spare parts to Onitsha.
Most of you tribalists are usually dull and empty.
So voting wisely means voting for only the people a nonentity as you choose?
If they check now, you might not even know anywhere in Lagos but you're proposing what they will do to other tribes living there.
The election will come and go, whether APC wins or loses Lagos Guber nothing will happen to Igbo and other ethnic groups because there's free movement in Nigeria.

PoliticsRe: Breaking Labour Party Will Reject And Challenge Lagos Results Despite Winning by TabletMan: 1:59am On Feb 28, 2023
This election is funny.
In Ondo state, the number of votes gotten from across political parties is bigger than the number of accredited voters.
In Bauchi LGA, LP scored 190 in just 1 PU but in the LG they have 185 total votes.
In Oyigbo and PH LGA, the results announced are different from what is collated and signed by each party agent.

Sadly, this is Nigeria and we are about to witness the birth of a One-party State. I just pray and hope that people celebrating and supporting this won't be angry when all opposition join the one mighty party and work against their preferred candidates.
Lack of transparency and not conducting free and fair elections are the reasons why people normally die untimely during Nigeria elections. Leaders killing their citizens because they want to force themselves on them.

Atiku and Obi have a strong case in this election but I don't think their lonely voice will be heard.

You are still spewing more nonsense. You talked about Okorocha, then I laid his projects side by side with that of Obiano because they were governors the same time. When we compared both governor's projects, Obiano beats him. You are talking about sidewalks, aside Abuja and some areas in Lagos there's no city in Nigeria that has a well planned sidewalks with covered drainage except the new roads at Awka Millennium city that's well planned with sidewalks and covered drainage and that's is the only such infrastructure in the eastern Nigeria.
You have an office at PH and you always pass Owerri on your way to PH and you're saying that only Lagos and Abuja have roads with sidewalks?
Stop bringing Okorocha into this discussion because you know that's the only governor whose roads are not standing.

While I don't believe Anambra has arrived but Anambra beats all the states in igboland in roads, infrastructures, etc. Recently Soludo has turned Anambra into a construction site but some of you because of mischief are still here spewing nonsense. But we won't allow any of your lies to stand here
Since the days of Peter till now, I'm always vocal about only roads.
Bring all my comments on this thread and even the one started by investnow2013 few years ago, they're all the same. Any person that was born and brought up in Onitsha and its environs that has not left Onitsha doesn't know what roads with sidewalks look like. Is that supposed to be so for a big city with a large population?
You know I'm not a mischief maker so maybe I will stop this front-and-back argument because I even decide to keep quiet since Obiano left my hope hanging.

You are talking nonsense. Where are the Okorocha roads today, they are all washed away. Where is the Okorocha owerri ICC today? Isn't it gone too? Where are all Okorocha projects today, all disappeared with him immediately he left office because they were all substandard. But you ediots would come here trying to cause mischief. If it was Obiano that built the kind of ICC but by Okorocha I am sure this thread would have exploded. But today that ICC Okorocha built had collapsed but none of have even mentioned it here but you claimed to know everything in SE.

Yes, Okezie is a failure just like abia is a failed state. No amount of propaganda can change anything here. Okezie hasn't even paid ordinary salaries for almost 24months but you want us to believe he has done well. Almost all the roads in aba are dilapidated same as umuahia but people because of your mischief in this thread won't point that out. Okezie took almost 8yrs to build one substandard flyover in abia state and today that remains his only signature project but under the period in view Obiano built flyovers, bridges, ICC, roads, airport, etc, but you ediots would come here thinking you can deceive any sane mind. It won't happen.

Anambra has the best roads including dual and single lanes in igboland. Anambra shall continue to be the best and most developed state in igboland. No amount of deception can stand in this thread
I'm not praising Okorocha but I'm pointing out how even his substandard roads are dual carriageways. Anambra urban and major cities' roads deserved a good facelift.

I'm so pained that all the successive governors till date do not know what developments are, they all sees Anambra as one country side village not minding the huge IGR that state makes, Where is that money ? who is pocketing all that money ? They will promise heaven on earth during their campaigns but show little or nothing during their tenures, Just look at the whole Anambra state, an eyesore which shows that all the successive leaders got it very wrong, I will spare Ngige and Mr Obi because they started doing something but it wasn't enough. Obiano came and messed everything up again and the same is happening till date. None of these guys has what it takes to move Anambra forward, The industrial Estate Mr Obi built with dual carriage in Onitsha , no maintainance from the successive governors, a well layout harbour. The worst part of it , some village touts will come out here to insult anybody that says anything about Anambra as if they are more Anambra than others, their argument is that they have three mediocre worst flyover and airport/icc which make me to think if these guys have ever travel out of Anambra or have even good access internet to surf what is going outside or they only use it to insult everyone that says otherwise from their primitive thinking. River Niger bank/coastal line could have been developed since with five stars hotels, artificial beaches , etc, go there and see all kinds of dirty activities going on without being checked. The list goes endlessly,I just hope that Soludo will do the needful because other states are moving so fast with infrastructures/ industrialisation being it private or government owned.
I have problem with some people on this thread because I was against the kind of roads Obi was constructing during his time, but do you know that most of them have left this thread because Obiano continues on the same part of road construction.
What is worth doing is worth doing well, even Rochas manage to construct a poor-quality dual carriageway around Imo state but now Hope is turning most of those roads into standard roads while ANSG will be constructing single lanes that will be hard to fit big lorries moving across each other lipsrsealed embarassed .
I don't even want to speak of Obiano's projects cos that man do us willy-willy embarassed embarassed .
I just laugh when some people call Ikpeazu a failure, The man built a lot of dual carriageways with sidewalks in Abia state and even construct a dual carriageway from Aba to his house in Umuobiakwa. Now Obingwa LG is fast joining Aba as a single city even though you don't have to see rapid new buildings like you see at Oba, Umuoji, Obosi and other adjoining cities around Onitsha.

Come there in 2 years time, you will see unplanned 2 to 5 storey building scattered everywhere with no good access road .

None of these Governors has no vision whatsoever , a bunch of idi0ts.
Roads and town planning are very important aspects of development being ignored by successive Anambra state governors. I have been here since the days of Peter Obi and this is always my point. I remember when they were arguing about how viable Anambra airport will be, I'm for whatever project will bring development if only the governor that started it will complete it. Frank said that the airport will open up new areas and people will be building hotels and offices and he gave Asaba airport as a reference of what will happen to Anambra airport. But he's not aware that Delta state government equally invested so much in developing the areas around the airport. Solid roads with sidewalks are constructed in Mirian Babandiga and the Vanguard area was not left out. The three tallest hotels around there are under construction and they're owned by Anambra men out of the three two are doing/have business at Onitsha. One is Ejison(his hotel exterior is completed) and the second one is a trader at Ogbo Ogwu he's done with Skeleton and now laying blocks, the other person is the owner of Efab Estate who even has an already functional hotel( Top rank) which is five-story building and is speedily building this current one that will join the leagues of tall hotels at Asaba. If 3-3 to Nsugbe roads is dualized, the face of that area will positively be changed and it will give that side an unimaginable facelift but to even repair the road dey very hard and I believe that Willie and the wife jump that pothole if they came to Onitsha from Aguleri last week he came to campaign for the wife at Onitsha main market. lipsrsealed embarassed

This is really heartwarming to see. I arrived in the state for the 3rd time this year and observed a simmering disillusionment among the people.

I hope that Gov. Soludo will be mindful that apart from patching up roads, the people had high hopes that he would deliver concrete projects that would leap-frog the state into the Dubai he promised.

There were 4 key projects that had been identified as cornerstones to accelerating industrialization and commerce in the state. One of which was the Anambra International Airport project which Chief Obiano managed to deliver before leaving office.

The other three are:
1. The Orient Refineries Project
2. The Anambra Light Rail Network
3. The Anambra Independent Power Plant and Natural gas network

One hopes that Gov. Soludo will endeavor to achieve one or more of these cornerstone projects before leaving office. Anambra people do have very high hopes that Gov. Soludo would open up the future of industrialization and build a liveable homeland by finding finances for these cornerstone projects that would spur the growth of other industries.
Una don come again. As you enter Anambra don't you see Onitsha virtually have tons of bad roads?
We are still struggling with bad roads and you're telling the governor to build light rail which won't see the light of the day. You know how far the cities you're even proposing is? you will know say na big illusionary project. This was how you guys where importing pictures from Kigali and European roads suggesting that Obiano will build it but the Aguleri guyman left our roads in a very bad shape even the 3-3 to Aguleri he promised to dualized is cutting into two and drivers going to otuocha from Onitsha are taking inside Nsugbe route during raining season.
