Your doctor can only tell you to stay away from blood tonics containing iron to prevent iron overloads. Multivitamins like ASTYMIN are ok. NOTE: there is also ASTYFER that contains iron & not good for SS. Picomon: Doc told me to stay away from blood tonic and that it affects d b marrow. |

Judith & endy,if possible spend time observing the birds in the morning when they are eating and late in the evening when they are sleeping, look out for watery eyes,inactive/dull birds, continuos sneezing/wheezing,coughing and other anomalies.this could help detect diseases. Som advice planting tobacco around the farm, som say spreading carbide (d one used by panel beaters 4welding)helps.som say burning tires around farm boundary(1 has 2b careful nt 2cause respiratory disease 4d birds). You can also try any of these: #place boiled eggs around dpen,if d snake swallows d egg,it gets stuck in d throath & unable 2move. #if u have any dead bird, get a fishing hook, stick it inside d bird, tie a string 2d hook and tie other end 2a pole/smtin heavy. If d snake swallows dbird,d hook gets stuck in d throath, then u can do dneedful. TAKE NOTE: smoked snake meat dey sweet for egusi soup,or beta pepper soup. Above all, clear dpen surroundings. davidzfarm18: @Segun1976 Congrats. as stated, nothing unusual in d production. I know of a farm that picked just 2 eggs every day for the 1st 2 wks of lay but they are getting more than 50% now less than four weeks of lay.

POUR ON is a liquid solution that is applied on the bird in small quantity for delousing. There are various types like the ivermectin pour on (different from ivermectin oral you put in water), cypermethrine or so(i forgot the correct name now). Visit any vet drug store, ask for pour on for birds and ask for usage direction. Juliana7: @tabontabon, pls sir what do u mean by d word "POUR ON" in ur previous post concerning delousing. Thanks |

Sorry for the late response,i'd been down & my newly laying birds production crashed recently from 90% to about 70+%. As per using ivermectin for delousing, you have to take note of the following,i will base it on 1k birds bt convert to suit your need: it is advised to use 90mls per 1000birds for each day, treatment is for 2days. You put the whole 90mls(or as applicable in your situation) in about 25% of their total daily water consumption. When they drink it completely, wait for 3 mins-1hr before resuming normal water. Repeat the above step the 2nd day, then start multivitamin 3rd day. After two weeks, repeat the treatment all over and ensure you pack the litter as earlier advised. I will continue in my next post. endy247: ok thanks, bt how can it be treated? cos i've noticed it in my birds and i'm suspecting dat it might be d reason they haven't started laying @21 weeks. |

Obnelly, though the harsh heat do result in small sized egg. But with the sneezing you observed in some of them, your birds may be having complex CRD(most of them may not sneeze at all) which may also cause the low output, you can ask your vet about administering FLORFENICOL (hope i got d spelling) based drugs, from my read ups,its good for complex CRD,there is one marketed by zygosis. Also, check for lice, that is another culprit for low output, delouse if need be using pour on. Just my opinion. obnelly: Anybody using top feed for the past few months? I copy you. I just wanted the clarification for the sake of newbies,so they dont start trying to sell pullet egg #620. Eggcelent: tabontabon. No. Pullets-sized eggs don't sell for #620/crate. I'm resident in Ondo State. Average size eggs go for between #600 & #650 here. The average being #620/#630 is what I used in the estimate since this size of eggs is what a farmer gets for significant period of the birds laying cycle. Thanks |

Globaby01: my broiler turns 6 weeks today, many looks sick, two died this morning making it 10 mortality since the day it was bought, reason: i cant explain. i also noticed that they are not feeding as they used to, i started noticing it yesterday where i gave them the quota that i used to give them. when i came back from work, i saw they couldn't finish it. i don't know if they noticed the finisher inside their grower mash because i mixed some quantity as i will soon change to finisher. but that is how i changed from starter to grower. so what is happening. can someone who has same experience share on what i can do to save the remaining 41 broilers to Easter sales. |

Pls,what is the yoruba or street(market women) name for soursop? world1: AGRIBUSINESS OPPOURTUNITY 2.
INVEST IN GRAVIOLA FARMING BUSINESS Soursop is a Promising Cash Crop Soursop (Annona muricata L.), also known as graviola, guyabano, guayabano guanabano and babana, is a shrub or small tree 3-10 meters in height. It is adapted to warm, humid tropical climate, and can tolerate both drought conditions and partial shade.
This fruit crop grows in any kind of soil but prefers loose, fairly rich, deep loam and well drained soil with pH ranging from 6.1 to 6.5. It thrives well from sea level up to 300 meters above sea level although it is known to grow up to 1000 m.
It has numerous uses. The young green fruits with seeds that are still soft can be cooked as vegetable. When ripe, the flesh can be eaten off hand or as dessert, or processed into candies, jams and jelly.
Its juice is used for flavoring or packaged into refreshing guyabano drinks. The leaves are used as herbal medicine. Because the tree is small and tolerant of partial shade, it can be intercropped with coconut or with large fruit trees like mango, durian, avocado and jackfruit. |

Fig1: The Egg weighing 98grams. Fig2: The cracked Egg carrying another shelled egg inside. Fig3: The inner Egg after crack has a normal yolk and egg white.
Flock age: 24week old.
The average egg size of my flock is 55grams. Though on the average daily I get 1 or 2 extra large size egg, but they usually carry 2 yolks (not shelled egg like this one)

I read that phenomenon online not long ago. simply, the inner egg rather than come towards the outside after formation went back inside while another egg is at the shell forming stage. So the inner egg was encased within the outer. Google it! AkayTopsy: Farmers in the house. Can anyone give a scientific explanation to the following:
