Good day nairalanders, happy Sunday to all of us. In recent weeks I have been searching for used Lexus Rx 350 cars especially 2007-2009. I have been searching through copart, Auction export, Iaai, ridesafely etc. I have observed that 99% of cars in Lagos are either over high mileage cars, savage or accident cars or flood damage cars. I have search for clean used cars in the US and the price I saw surprise me. They sale used cars based on mileage for example, a 2007 Rx 350 is been sold at $12,000, now do the calculation include $1,200 For shipping it will be $13,200 = 4,752,000 excluding clearing. Now how much is a Lexus Rx 350 2007 in Lagos? Check and know your self. My advice is for you and me to check the car history through VIN verification that will tell you what exactly you are buying.
Some car dealers will buy high mileage cars of 280,000 ,when it gets to Lagos they will reduce it to 80,000 and sell it as clean low mileage car.
I hereby submit that no Nigerian car dealer sales clean low mileage US used cars.

How many Nigerians can afford to buy these cars at that price?

My advise, run the vin of any car you want to buy, know the car details and bargain with the dealer if you cool with it

What you don't know is NL is a traffic driven forum. There was no competitor 10 years ago but now we have the likes of olx,cheki and who is giving NL a run for his money but they fail to understand people like me are addicted to NL.
When rules are too stringent, attention and traffic shifts to other websites, that is why such rule will NEVER see the light of the day because it affects oga's pocket. I could remember how we fought to ensure our adverts stay in front page then. I can confidently tell you soo many great people has left NL or rather visit NL once in a blue moon unlike before.
NL design is simple, have so many unique factors and above all it's educative and interactive.

Not possible for run and drive 2006 Corolla to be sold $250.

People are given opportunity to place bid on cars before the live bidding.

This particular car should be at the range of $1000 to $1300 buying on copart

Corpart charges is about $380

Towing to port should be around $300 to $380 because the car location was Martinez and the closest port to the location is port of Los Angeles. That’s about 5 to 6 hours trip, Aprox 398mils. And if no roro service and no one to share container with, he wil locate the nearest port which wil attract more charges

Shipping is $850

Lagos clearing 430k naira

Fixing and spraying, approximately 100k naira because he wil buy some parts.

This car market range in Lagos is at the range of 1.7m to 1.9m depending on how clean it is.

If he claimed the man bought it 2.2m , that’s the man’ problem. Did he confirmed from d seller? You don’t just jump into conclusion. The man is more learned and smarter than this poster. The man may bought the car 1.7m, and you don’t expect the man to tell you the actual price. It’s normal Nigerian thing. I delivered 2010 Range Rover sport to PH in 2013 with the total cost of about 9.5m or so, I was enjoying my wine at the client’ office when I heard him telling his colleagues that he bought the car at my car stand in Lagos 14m. I was like oga!! Wetting happened na!!! Lols. It’s normal Nigerian things.

The man is enjoying his car while you hear taking paracetamol on his headache.

I don’t support hiding the car history from potential buyers . I always advise buyers to check the car history so than you can know the worth or how to bargain the price.

My opinion. Please nobody should take it personal.

Not here to abuse or argue wit anybody. Have made my point cleared. Not also in support of hidden vin from potential buyers. I only said it’s not advisable for a seller to be wasting his/her precious time responding to idle and teens on nairaland.

The buyer of the said Camry is active Nairalander. He also contributed bitterly on the post. But eventually settled for the car wen he saw it and his engineer gave him go ahead to buy. He only used d negative comments to reduce the price

It’s your duty to check vin of any car before purchase .

I didn't say VIN should be hidden from an actual buyer but third party who has no money or interest in the car but needs the VIN simply because they think they are entitled to it. Take your mechanic for inspection, that is the best option.

I agree with you. People are entitle to their opinion. No stress. When you see a serious buyer, you will know and when you see a jobless person, with their comments, you will know. Learn to overlook some people’ comment on nairaland. My 14yrs old cousin is active member of nairaland. If you intend replying everyone here, you wil eventually find out you chatting with teenage or idle person.

If someone posted car for sale, it’s your duty or right as potential buyer to ask for the car details personally. What’s is wrong if a buyer call or WhatsApp d seller and asked for the VIN?

80% of cars in nigeria is salvage, do you findings and come back to argue with me. But we have cars that are minor or major. Even in USA, they drive salvage cars too but fixed, some re-built. But it’s advisable to check the Vin as a potential buyer to know the worth of what you buying.

I posted a Camry 2009 on Nairaland for sale few months ago, I was attacked by some people that the car is flooded. Some even starts cursing their generation. I wanted to respond buh when I remembered that it’s faceless forum and I might be responding to a teenage, I ignored them. Eventually, I sold the car, after two weeks the buyer called me to confess to me that he was one of those people that condemn the car on nairaland and apologized. He has been enjoying the car. Oga you know yourself..lols. It’s nice doing biz with you though but that car pass the 2.5m wey you buy am . My joy is that you r enjoying the car. More bigger cars in your garage soon by God’ grace
