afrobaby: Depends on the school involved and what they need, just finished developing sometin like a portal for a small nursery and primary school, thoug I used an open source application for it, but I must confess, the time it took me to edit and fine-tune to my taste is damn too much, yet, I couldnt still get what I would actually have loved to have. It will be better to to do urs afresh, as in, if u are good in programming, start from scratch, that was the set back I had.

that is the main disadvantage of those open software like fedena e.t.c. after several days in configuring them, you wil stil found out that most of the needs of the school still not met.
it is more better for someone to know how to design those portal from scratch to meet those schl needs.
try dreamweaver with some extensions, your work will be very faster.i assure you!

I will advice you to create a portal from scratch as it wil allow you to have a full control over your portal and even add many features which those softwares lack.
i always enjoy dreamweaver to build any school portal though, i equip my dreamweaver with a few interesting dreamweaver extensions.
no need for someone to be guru in programming as the dreamweaver will write all the code for you.
many times, i visited many school portal to see their style to add to my own.
i generated many pin no and serial no for the scrath card to allow students to login to their student member area to check their result,update their profile, change their upload picture e.t.c.

in summary ,i suggest dreamweaver for you to build your portal from scratch

there are different forms of charity/levies in the sharia. Some are
.. the general zakat we know which is of different percentages of selected properties for a particular set of people elligible.
..this zakatul fitr which is an amount of staple food onevery head of which one is responsible of
...the general sadaqah which is not defined.i.e as u wish.

This differences is from the wisdom of Allah,because he could easily hav legislated this(zakatul fitr )as a percentage or not limiting its substance.

So except we get specific evidence from the sharia we maintain status quo..
To allay ur fears about the poor being not able to prepare,i encourage u as well as others to give upon the zakatul fitr as much money as u can give wisely. AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST. ASMLYKM
