Is there any additional fee to be paid at VFS Lagos, when doing biometrics single applicant for visit visa? If any, what's the estimate amount and if payment is by cash or debit card? Thanks!
There is no additional fee.

Thank you. This was really helpful. Initially before coming here I tried several times to upload but it was not uploading it. This is because I changed the generic name of the biometrics letter when i was saving it. Immediately I saw your response I downloaded and saved biometrics letter without changing the generic name and problem solved. Thanks 👍🏻
It’s my pleasure.

Hello house, I am having issues with booking Lagos appointment for my mom on VFS website. Its requesting I should complete the DOB but doesn't accept when I tried to insert it before i can submit. What could be the problem?
Click on “choose file” to upload the biometric instruction letter sent by IRCC. This will automatically populate the DOB and IRCC No details.

I think it should be when interst in paid. If it's paid upfront, they deduct 10%, if it's at maturity, they collect the WHT at maturity
Okay.
Thank you.

They now deduct during interest payment!
Ok

Can one decide when the new WHT can be deducted from treasurybill investment, during the transaction or after the maturity? I would prefer the later if the option is available so that I can make use of the tax fee to make more money before the maturity.
Currently GTB deduct upon maturity.

While trying alternative investments aside what exists here, I did a corporate Sukuk (Taj Sukuk 2) last year. Right now it's about looking like the worst investment I have tried. I have done CP's, PN's and other alternative investments but this Taj Sukuk seems to be the the worst. I complain about FGN Sukuk and bonds proceeds for sometimes taking up to 5 days before being credited but this one is worse.

First of all, it was advertised from June to July 2025. We made payment by July ending and after that, we expected to get the allocation (Proof and terms of investment) immediately to no avail until after like 2 months and a week or so in October. The bi-annual rent payment (coupon payment) was to start in January 2026. However, we got a mail informing us that they have graciously decided to pay us quarterly payment this January 2026 which means they want the investment to start counting from the October when the allocation notice was sent.

Also, we were informed about 2 weeks and 2 days ago that the funds for the payment of rent was ready and that they are waiting for approval from SEC before disbursement. Up till now, nothing.

1. My first question that I would love to ask them is ' who bears the loss of rent on the first lose to 3 months the money spent with them? All the FGN SUKUK, Bonds, Savings bonds, CP's and PN's that I have done before starts counting from the closing date as stated in the advert. In this case, it is 28th July.

2. Payment dates are supposed to be fixed and payment is expected to be made to investors on the fixed days for as long as the the investment last. Which is minimum of 5 years in this case. Going by their 3 months, it starts counting from October 3rd meaning January 3rd was supposed to be their payment date. Yet we were only informed on the 9th of January that the funds is ready but needs SEC approval. It's supposed to be bi-annual payment or even quarterly if we go by their mail. Is this how we will continue to use almost 1 month to wait for SEC approval anytime payment is due or it's just a one off thing.

I am posting this here to hear from other investors investors if there is any and to other potential investors of what it entails incase the ever come across and develop interest.
Reasons I only do FGN Bonds, Treasury Bills and MMF.
I don’t do anything corporate bonds or commercial paper no matter how high the interest rate is.

I pray they sort things out soon for you!

In coming days, Secondary market rate should adjust upward, but it won't be up to the primary market in terms of rate and tenor.
I use to like the secondary market because of its different tenure available.

For now, I dn port go FD
FD is how many percent?

If I even invested at 15. 7% I for no dey cry this much I. I invested 11.2% for 7yrs since 2020. I still have till June 2027. I hate to remember it.. It ruins my day 😭
I am also in this boat (11.2% for 7yrs since 2020). This was my very first time!
Since then I have been investing in the sukuk every year so my average is now above 17%.
You just have to keep investing so you can have a nice average.

Yes boss, and in addition, Stanbic compound monthly too. That is, interest of Nov forms part of capital for the month of December. It becomes the 7th wonder of the world if you contribute monthly for yrs.
Sounds good.

Lol
Month end recon shenanigans are normal with stanbic.
I also got credited double my interest, but they'll rectify and balance all accounts by tomorrow.
I use United Capital and they only credit interest quarterly. Does stanbic credit interest monthly?

It was a systemic error. It will be deducted from your account before the close of business tomorrow. It has happened in the past. I was also credited with my accumulated interest for the month of November.

Is the debit from upfront interest or at maturity?

Maybe it's tunnel vision or whatever crappy word that can be used to describe this. What I am insisting is that at maturity, WHT will be deducted.

How about people who received their interest upfront since last year and the WHT was not deducted at the time?
For people who received their interest upfront since last year and the WHT was not deducted at the time, WHT will be deducted at maturity from their capital.

We should always seek to understand before speaking.
First, no bank is allowed to deduct anything from your principal amount.

From my own investments in FBN and GTB, I can confirm that there is no such thing as Withholding Tax (WHT) on the principal nor interest. The only deductions applied on interest are Custody Fees, Transaction Fees, and VAT on those fees, all of which are relatively small.

I’ve attached my two investment certificates for your reference.
If any bank deducts from your principal, you should take immediate legal action.
With GTB, you will be debited WHT upon maturity from your capital.
By the way, I am speaking from experience.

Thanks. Mine just matured and dropped and I immediately transferred it to another account with nothing left in the account.😂

It's GTB

With GTB, you can’t escape it. Your account will show negative in few days 😀

Thank you she get upfront but now the percentage of T-bill is even 14.50 percent,
Is this 14.5% before withholding tax or after?
