emmanuelewumi: What do you have in your investment portfolio eg bonds, money market, Eurobonds, real estate, equity, small business etc.
For now I am very bullish about the stock market.
So I will advise selling half at N10 million. The remaining bond will generate an annual coupon of N1 million for the next 16 years
Zenith bank, UBA, APR, United Capital will give you a dividend yield of 15% and above.
Dangote cement, Lafarge, Dangote sugar, Julius Berger will give you a dividend yield of about 12%.
If you are considering investments that are linked to forex, you can consider Seplat and Airtel.
Seplat paid dividend 2 months ago at $1 to N350.
Airtel paid yesterday at $1 to N430 Thank you very much for sharing this. Now, I will go ahead and update my equity portfolio with some of these stocks. |

I have noticed that some persons whom I will refer to as “Real Economy Advocate” Usually come to this thread once in a while to advocate for investing in the real economy.
While I some times enjoy the argument for and against because it is educating; please note that some of us here prefer to invest in fixed income, equity and real estate because we are salary earners; and do not have time for business since it requires our presence. There is a difference between business and investment. Obviously, investment does not require much of our time. Kindly let us invest in peace, we will go into the real economy for you when we have the time. |

Barrytone: Permit me to laff, also tell him to consider the troubles surrounding that building, pre and post. Also remember that in your calculated 15years you do not manufacture tenants that are on standby to occupy immediately one tenant packs out. Also remember you will be maintaining that house during the said 15years. In 15years u are only getting your capital, no interest. That building will boost your ego, physical achievement and attracts penalty. House is not an investment for a life time, its beneficial for reincarnation purposes. Lol |

ahiboilandgas: My findings on Federal Government Bonds. I was at GTBANK head office today... The elucidations below are my fact-findings 1.,The 50Million stipulated by DMO on Federal government bonds is for those who want to bid their own rates. 2.,Can one get secondary market tenor..? Yes you can,but you will have to go with the Bank rates. The bank purchases in bulk and sells in bits to retail susribers. Hence, profit orientation. 3.,What is the minimum amount one can suscribe on? Minimum of 10k and it varies on units, but some banks will peg their minimum as 10k,50k,100k, 500k,or,1m in variant of the bank. 4.,Can one liquiate federal bonds..? Yes you can,but its not as liquid as TB.... It's a capital market investment, hence,it has to stay for a particular period of time before it can be termed liquid. Note; Banks are more rigid when selling Bond than TB....Liquidation make take forever depending on the demands. She evidently, showed me some treated transactions that came from branches. I'm open to further questions.. Thank you very much for this information. All effort to buy fgn secondary bond from Gtb proved abortive as my account manager insisted that Gtb does not offer secondary market. So now am settling for primary market since there is a new issue. However, what range of % bid do you think could fly for this new issue considering the situation of the bond market now? |

michealekene: Hello boss, think that's where my problem was in the FG secondary bonds. I think that of pry bonds need capital of 50m. Or is there any bank that can do the 2.5m proposed earlier? Since your fund is below 50m then you can contact stanbic Ibtc stockbrokers for fgn bond secondary market. |

Akin3891: Thanks. Which of the tenures are you going for and what % do you have in mind to bid for? Are u buying through the bank or stock broking firms, I contacted fbnquest but they couldn't help out, was told that thier bonds start from 200m For fgn primary market bond, you buy through your bank and for secondary market fgn bond you buy through your stockbroker(preferably stanbicibtc brokers). Am looking at the new issue but still confuse at the % to bid. |

Akin3891: Have you buy this type of bond before? Must one have a cscs account before purchase? Banks seem to have little understanding regarding this I bought the last sukuk bond using my cscs account, so I intend to use same cscs account for the Fgn bond. You may contact a stock broking firm to open a cscs account for you just incase your bank says it is compulsory. |

Gavrelino123: Brilliant Ideas. Treasury Bill's is most transparent to me.....FGN Bonds is good but the process ain't funny..
VGIF and United capital bonds, are they backed by the Federal Government & regulated by CBN??
I'm not really a fan of making investments that is not backed by FGN These asset management companies (United Capital plc & investment one) are registered and licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria (SEC) to act as Investment Advisers, Portfolio and Asset Managers. FGN bond primary market auction is pretty straightforward once you have the required 50m just like treasury bills. |

Gavrelino123: Chief, longest time.
The low TB rates has really dampened spirit....Cash just lying idle in Savings..
Saving now have a better interest rate than Fixed deposit. Why is your cash idle in savings account at 3.75% when investment one VGIF is 7.5% and United Capital Bond fund is 8.2%?. You can choose any of the 2 or both after carrying out your due diligence. Alternatively, you can go for fgn bond if you are 50m loaded. |

seyisanya: Since you already missed their year-lows, I think they're still good at current prices. However, you may wait and see how the market will respond to their Q2 financial reports then you decide afterwards.
Kindly note that no one can accurately time the market and my suggestion has nothing to do with market-timing. It's just that we're already in the earnings season which might(or might not) create entry opportunities due to the ongoing situation. Thank you for your response. |
