When Sony Pictures’ corporate e-mail servers were taken down by hackers last month, it was BlackBerrys that “saved” the day. Sony employees were able to get back online because BlackBerrys send and receive email via their own servers. The incident was widely reported by mainstream news media including: The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Bloomberg News, and others. Inside BlackBerry says: The BlackBerry devices, along with other tactics, were key to the efforts of Sony’s IT department to keep its 6,000 employees productive in the aftermath of the cyberattack, which took down computers and landline phones during Thanksgiving week, as well as resulted in the temporary halting of the distribution of the movie, “The Interview.” Security has always been a big deal. This incident only served to highlight it. Many high profile individuals and corporations globally still trust BlackBerry for their mobile security. http://mobilityarena.com/interview-blackberry-saved-sony-pictures/ |

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to show leadership by example instead of engaging in mere rhetoric, saying talk becomes cheap the moment words lose their meaning In a statement issued in Lagos on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said President Jonathan’s exhortations at a Christmas service in Abuja on Thursday would have carried weight if the President had acted in such a way that his compatriots would not doubt his sincerity. Jonathan-Lai Jonathan-Lai It wondered how the President could admonish others to avoid sowing the seeds of discord and hatred through their utterances when that is exactly the stock in trade of his political associates, supporters and spokespersons. ”Everything that the President’s political associates, supporters and spokespersons have done has been geared toward creating division among Nigerians and sowing the seeds of discord and hatred, and the President is not on record as having ever called them to order. ”Recently, Chief Edwin Clark, a die-hard supporter of the President, said glibly that if the opposition has its way it can poison or kill President Jonathan just to take power. No statement could be more absurd and incendiary, yet the President never called him to order. ”Another dyed-in-the-wool supporter of the President, Mujaheed Asari Dokubo, said on national television that there will be blood on the streets if President Jonathan is not re-elected in 2015. He also said ‘we will not take any prisoner of war. It will be total battle’, but the President never uttered a word in his rebuke. ”Since President Jonathan’s main opponent in the 2015 elections, Gen.Muhammadu Buhari, emerged, his party members and spokesmen have been falling over themselves to pour invective on him and his party, the APC. The National Secretary of the President’s party, Wale Oladipo, called the former head of state a ‘semi-literate jackboot’, Doyin Okupe lambasted Gen. Buhari for not stealing money during his many public appointments while PDP spokesman Olisa Metuh issued his most jejune statement to date just to pillory the APC and its leaders. ”In all this, President Jonathan never saw a comment that could fan the embers of discord and hatred. Having failed to call his spokesmen, party members and supporters to order when they made incendiary comments, President Jonathan has lost the moral authority to call anyone else to order for the same wrong doing,” APC said. ”Nigerians are more divided along ethnic and religious lines today than at any time in the history of the nation, and this is traceable to the President. President Jonathan should therefore look inwards and stop being sanctimonious. ”On our part, we say, without equivocating, that we do not need any admonition from anyone, least of all a holier-than-thou President, to avoid actions that could divide the people or create discord or hatred. We are a party of peace, inclusiveness and concord, so President Jonathan should first speak the truth to his party before saying it to anyone else,” it said. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/incendiary-comments-politicians-apc-urges-president-jonathan-lead-example/ |

By Abiodun Alade, @biodunpen Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri has faulted the claim by the Vice-Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo that President Goodluck Jonathan is leading a visionless government. Omokri pointed out that the administration of Jonathan has recorded laudable achievements which are alien to a visionless government, stressing that such feats have been acknowledged by International organisation such as the United Nations, International Food Policy Research Institute, KPMG among others. The Special Assistant argued that Prof. Osinbajo’s report differs from the reality. “Prof. Osinbajo’s report differs from that of KPMG, The UN and The Global HungRenobajoooer Index. Whose report will you believe?” he said in a tweet. Omokri was reacting to the earlier claim by the V.P candidate of the APC, who described the Jonathan-led Federal Government as “inadequate and visionless.” Osinbajo argued via his Twitter page that “Nigeria is great and her citizens give so much, yet get nothing in return from today’s inadequate and visionless leadership. RenobajooOmokri also used the opportunity to take a swipe at the Presidential candidate of the APC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari who he alleged threatened that 2015 will be bloody if what happened in 2011 repeat itself, pointing out that President Jonathan has repeatedly maintained that his ambition is not worth any Nigerian’s blood. He urged Pastor Osinbajo to prayerfully consider the vision of Jonathan and Buhari for Nigeria. “If Pastor Osinbajo wants to talk about ‘vision’, he should prayerfully consider these two visions of the future,” he added in his tweet. He urges Nigerians to make use of the infrastructure provided by Goodluck Jonathan during the festive period. Renobajo“This Christmas, travel on our revived railways, reconstructed Benin-Ore Road or upgraded Enugu Airport. Powered by GEJ!” The KPMG has rated Nigeria’s high speed rail as world-class, the Global Hunger index also stated that hunger level has fall in Nigeria. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/you-lied-jonathans-aide-replies-osinbajo/ |

Authorities have come out to say that the "mysterious aircraft" belongs to the Nigerian military. If this witness is correct, the questions would now be 1) Does the Nigerian military actually own an infrasonic weapon ? 2) What or whose interest were they serving if such a weapon could be unleashed on its own citizens ? Guess we might have to wait for WikiLeaks to give us the main gist again ![]() |
By Abdulwahab Abdulah, Bartholomew Madukwe & Ebele Okafor Lagos—An expert in explosives and weapons, Mr Biedomo Iguniwei, yesterday, said the collapsed building of Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, was caused by a high energy infrasonic weapon. TB Joshua-Synagogue Church TB Joshua-Synagogue Church Iguniwei, former research scientist in weapons production with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, Kaduna, made the remark while testifying before the coroner’s court investigating the incident. One hundred and sixteen persons were killed in the collapse of the six-storey building on September 12. Scientific analysis Iguniwei said he was instructed by the church to carry out scientific analysis of the materials from the scene, to ascertain the possibility of the collapse being caused by deployment of infrasonic weapon. The witness said an infrasonic weapon was a low sonic radiation used as a weapon to cause structural damage and destruction to objects. According to him, he interviewed two of the survivors and also analysed the CCTV footage of the incident before arriving at his conclusion. Plane-like object He said the “plane-like object” that flew over the church fired an infrasonic weapon that made the building crumble. “An infrasonic weapon can be fired or deployed from any flying object or from a location within a distance of between one hundred metres and 1,000 metres away from the intended target. “This infrasonic weapon employs vibration to induce high density destructive resonance in the building leading to a near perfect vertical crumbling experience. “I bring to bear my experience in arriving at this conclusion that the building collapsed as a result of uniform destruction due to the infrasonic pulse fired unto the building”, Iguniwei said. He cited the destruction of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Washington in 1940 as one of the cases where an infrasonic weapon was deployed. The witness told the court that the technology was not visible to human eyes as radiation does not generate heat or lead to burning as in the case of bombs. “The bomb expert who is looking for chemical residue will not see anything like a by-product. “Of course, there is no charring because all that the radiation does is to cause a vibration of the atoms from their position resulting in the emission of electrons. “Engineers generally believe that a structure would fail due to bad foundation and materials, but if you go there now, the foundation pillars are still very intact. “My position is that the building weakened from the top”, Iguniwei added. Research on incident Following the testimony, the Coroner, Mr Oyetade Komolafe, directed him to submit his research on the incident to the court on January 5, 2015. Also testifying, Mr Sunday Okojie, the Chief Security Officer of SCOAN, said church members swung into action immediately the building collapsed. Okojie debunked the claims by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, and National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, that their officials were assaulted. He said both agencies came to the scene without an ambulance, adding that the church provided 11 ambulances while the Nigerian Red Cross Society and Life Savers provided one each. The matter was adjourned till December 23 for further hearing. Meanwhile, Justice Lateefa Okunnu of an Ikeja High Court has adjourned the hearing of another suit filed by the founder of the church, Prophet Temitope Joshua, against the coroner till Jan. 12, 2015. The judge adjourned the matter to give respondents (the Lagos State Government) time to respond to a further affidavit filed by Joshua’s counsel, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN. In the originating summons designated ID/188MJR/2014, Joshua is asking the court for a judicial review of the proceedings before the coroner’s inquest. He asked the court to declare the coroner’s summons on him to personally appear before the inquest as unconstitutional and a breach of his right to fair hearing. The cleric also asked for an order restraining the coroner from taking evidence on the issues of approval and construction of the collapsed building. According to him, these issues are clearly outside the scope and jurisdiction of the coroner’s court. Joshua also asked for an order restraining Komolafe from continuing with the inquest “having demonstrated personal interest in the subject matter and his neutrality clearly compromised.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/synagogue-collapse-caused-infrasonic-weapon-witness/ |

Where is the mockery in this article ? |
Recently, a Nigerian military tribunal sentenced 54 soldiers to die via firing squad while setting 5 of their colleagues free. The events leading up to their "mutiny"has been severally trashed here on nairaland and across various other social media but the fact of the matter is under Nigerian military law, mutiny is punishable by death so we can or should only plead for mercy. Fighting insurgencies anywhere in the world is always a tough task and considering what these unfortunate soldiers had to go through that made them "lose their minds" and shoot at a superior officer, I plead that their sentences be commuted to life imprisonment instead. |
