PoliticsBuhari’s Ministers Not As Vibrant As Jonathan’s Ministers by tanteta(op): 5:42am On Mar 01, 2016
Buhari’s Ministers Not As Vibrant As Jonathan’s Ministers – Dele Momodu

Former Presidential candidate and seasoned journalist Dele Momodu has flayed what he described as the intimidation of current ministers serving in the Buhari Administration by President Buhari, saying the ministers fear the president, and, as a result, are not as vibrant as former president Jonathan’s ministers.

Momodu, who was speaking at the first City People Social Media Awards advised Presidenmt Buhari not to concentrate only on the anti-corruption probe as that is bringing a paralyzing fear of his ministers who are too afraid to take any initiative.

‘If I were Buhari I would probe but not just probe, because there is too much scare mongering everywhere.

‘When you are too scared of your boss you can’t do anything. Most of Buhari’s ministers are too scared of their boss and it is bad for business. They are not vibrant. Jonathan’s ministers are more vibrant than Buhari’s ministers because they are too scared.

‘ This obsession with they stole our money, is too much. We know Jonathan did not do anything that’s why we sacked him. So Buhari, do your own.

‘If the gods cannot improve our lives they should please maintain it. If you are hungry you will grumble, and I am hungry.’

When asked if he would one day run for the presidency, he said:
‘I have a theory: The last thing you lose is hope. If Nigeria wants to put me as president, so be it. If not they can go elect a new Buhari or a new Jonathan.

‘When I ran, even the media was against me. If Atiku a customs officer runs they will make front page. If a police officer wants to run they will make front page, but a publisher? If it is my destiny, then I will one day be president , otherwise my life will be expiring soon, I am 56 today and in 14 years I will be 70.’

Chief Dele Momodu is one of the people who campaigned for Buhari in the last presidential elections

FamilyWhy Marriages Fail (part 2) by tanteta(op): 4:57am On Mar 01, 2016
Why Marriages Fail Part Two:
Feeling Neglected

Feeling ignored or neglected by a spouse is a common marriage problem but it is also one of the reasons why marriages fail. No one wants to be in a marriage where they feel they are low on their partner’s list of priorities. Also, no one wants to have to beg for their partner’s time or attention.

The reason why emotional and physical neglect is one of the top reasons for divorce is that spouses are rarely on the same page regarding this issue. While one spouse feels ignored and all alone the other may be feeling as if their spouse has unrealistic expectations and is asking too much of them.

What to Do if You Are Feeling Neglected in Your Marriage

It goes without saying that the first thing that you should do if you are feeling neglected in your marriage is to talk to your spouse about it. However, the way you present the issue to your spouse can make a big difference.

The last thing you want is for your spouse to feel accused or attacked because this could drive a bigger wedge between the two of you. You also don’t want to nag your spouse as this will make it more difficult for them to really hear what you are saying. You need to articulate what is bothering you without criticizing, blaming or jumping to conclusions about why your partner isn’t giving you time and attention.

What to Do If Your Spouse Is Feeling Neglected

Your spouse feeling neglected doesn’t make you a bad wife or husband. It’s also doesn’t mean that your spouse does not appreciate all your efforts so don’t get angry or defensive. It’s just that different people require different levels and types of emotional support and engagement- failure to acknowledge this is why marriages fail.

Sometimes, your spouse can feel neglected even if you are giving them all the time and attention that you can afford to without neglecting your other responsibilities. The way to deal with such a situation is to integrate your spouse into all other areas of your life. This is because feeling neglected is sometimes the result of feeling relegated to one area of a spouse’s life.

Emotional and physical neglect is one of the top reasons why marriages fail but it is also one of the easiest marriage problems to resolve. As long as you catch it early, you can resolve it pretty quickly and go on to have a very happy marriage.

PoliticsBuhari's U-turn On N5000 - Gov Al-makura Speaks Up by tanteta(op): 7:36pm On Feb 29, 2016
Buhari's u-turn on N5000 - Gov Al-Makura speaks
Governor Al-Makura of Nasarawa state said nobody can challenge the decisions of President Buhari – The governor was reacting to criticisms over Buhari’s reversal on his electoral propmise – Buhari is at liberty to change his mind and take decisions, Al-Makura said The governor of Nasarawa state, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura, said Nigerians cannot challenge the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari’s not to fulfill his government’s pledge of paying N5000 monthly allowances to unemployed citizens. Gov Al-Makura says nobody can challenge Buhari Briefing State House correspondents after meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday, February 29, the governor said Buhari had the right to review his party’s electoral promise, The Punch reports. He said: “The president is the person that can tell you precisely how he is working on promises and interventions that he has created by his ingenuity. And if at any point in time the president is reviewing that issue, I think he is the only person to that because what he is doing is in the best interest of the country. And so, it is not challengeable by anybody whatever his position.” Ahead of the 2015 presidential election, one of the electoral promises of Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) was that a monthly allowance of N5,000 will be paid to unemployed youths in the country. But, at the weekend, Buhari had during an interactive session in Saudi Arabia described the N5,000 stipend as largesse which was not on his priority list. He stated that he would rather channel resources into the building of infrastructure, education, agriculture and mining to create employment opportunities for able bodied young men. According to Al-Makura, if Buhari decided to change his mind over his electoral promise, it was for the good of the country based on prevailing realities. On what he discussed with Osinbajo, the Nasarawa governor said they talked about the security situation in his state and that of Benue state which had led to bloody clashes between herdsmen and farmers. On his part, the Imo state governor and chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha, said that the promise will be implemented one way or the other, The Nation reports.
He noted that more problems are sometimes created by physical cash, saying the president has saved the money for unemployed youths to produce further wealth. “The very poor people who have to ensure a lot of social inconveniences to pay school fees are no longer dong that, what has happened is that he has saved that money to produce further wealth, so if you keep money through that system, it creates more impact than physical cash,” Okorocha said. Buhari’s reversal on his electoral promise has been trailed with condemnable criticisms from many Nigerians. Meanwhile, Lai Mohammed, the information minister said Buhari has to downsize some of its campaign promises because the realities on ground are now different from what it was during the campaigning period. He explained that the price of crude was $100 a barrel then, but now it is $30 a

PoliticsTinubu-how Buhari Should Restructure Nigeria. by tanteta(op): 8:26am On Feb 28, 2016
How Buhari should ‘restructure’ Nigeria
Bola Tinubu

A former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, on Saturday, tasked President Muhammadu Buhari on how to restructure Nigeria, laying emphasis on populist governance, agriculture, education, infrastructures and industrialisation.
Mr. Tinubu spoke at the combined convocation ceremony of University of Abuja where Honorary Doctor of Business Administration, DBA, was conferred on him by the institution.
Affected by years of poor management and academic strife, the University of Abuja held its 15th-20th convocation ceremony for five sets.
At the occasion, Mr. Tinubu said Nigeria’s future depended on the will and courage of Mr. Buhari’s government to turn challenges into opportunities.
“Nigeria stands in the corridor between greatness and failure, between progress and collapse, between hope and despair,” he said, adding that “Our fate depends on whether we summon the courage to take the bold steps and move in the direction. We must turn our present challenges into opportunities for the re-engineering of our nation’s economic challenges. The University and our educational system have a role to play here.”
“Nigeria needs some fundamental restructuring both politically and economically,” Mr. Tinubu said.
This restructuring, he stressed, should not be the “constant tinkering and patch-patch” Nigerian government often resorts to.

“Agriculture remains a key pillar in our development. We must return to the days when Nigeria had surplus and exported food. Now we import too much food for our own good and security.
“Our small farmers sink under the reality of rising costs and too little income from the crops they raise.
Moreover, we annually lose arable land to desert encroachment. I believe the current administration under President Buhari has set its priorities right in this regard. Our farmers will once be proud again. We believe farmers need to earn a sufficient enough income that will bring prosperity back to their families. They must be encouraged and supported,” Mr. Tinubu said.
He said Nigeria must also improve its capacity to provide jobs for growing urban population.
Speaking further, he highlighted how the APC Government would be lifting 20 per cent of Nigerians out of poverty.
“As a progressive government we have as one of our top priorities the lifting of 20 per cent of Nigerians out of poverty within the first four years of our administration.
“To happen, the state must be a catalyst for job creation and economic development that touches all the people not just a narrow growth that benefits a small number.
“We shall do this by implementing a national industrial policy linked to a national infrastructural plan and a national employment strategy.”
Mr. Tinubu also stressed the importance of education.
“Our position is that we make a special effort to draw all children to school, particularly the poor. We cannot afford to allow poverty to keep children out of the classroom. If so we are suborning a life of ignorance and poverty for millions of our young ones.”
He said Nigeria faces multiple challenges but assured APC Government could combat them.
“We have demonstrated the courage and determination to change a non-performing government through a democratic election. This electoral success has brought new challenges.
“These challenges are numerous and we must brace up and confront them.
“We dare not rest on the satisfaction of electoral victory alone. We must continue to strive toward democratic governance that can usher in a progressive era of broad prosperity, development, democracy and human dignity for our people. This is our preoccupation, our desire,” he said.
