PoliticsWhy The Divide by tanteta(op):
SUNNI MUSLIMS AND SHIA MUSLIMS.
Sunni and Shia Islam are the two largest branches of Islam with significant similarities, as well as major differences, between their beliefs.
Basic Beliefs of Sunni Islam
The name Sunni is derived from the word “Sunnah” which means “tradition.” This sect believes that they follow the true tradition of the prophet Muhammad. Sunni Muslims practice Islam as their interpretation of Islamic law guides them. These interpretations follow four differing schools of thought: the Hanafi, the Maliki, the Shafi'i and the Hanbali. These are based on the teachings of 4 early Islamic scholars. Some Sunni Muslims believe that Islamic law should be based on only one of these interpretations, others believe it is acceptable to choose interpretations of specific issues from each scholar and mix the teachings.
Basic Beliefs of Shia Islam
Shia Muslims follow one principle school of thought: Jafariya. They believe that the Imam exists to provide moral and religious leadership to the world. These Imams have been appointed by God. In addition to the Qur’an, Shia practitioners honor the Nahj al-Balagha book which is a collection of the sermons by their first Imam.
Similarities between the Sunnis and Shias
The two sects, while different, also share many beliefs. They both believe that there is only one all-powerful God who created the world and all life in it. They also believe in a devil, angels, and demons. Shia and Sunni believe that Islam began in 610 CE when Muhammad, the last prophet, began receiving messages from God. These revelations were recorded in the Qur’an by his followers, which both sects respect as the Holy Book.
In practicing their religion, both groups recognize the Five Pillars of Islam which provide the framework for everyday life. These pillars include: testifying the existence of only one God and Muhammad as his prophet, taking part in prayer 5 times daily, giving charity, fasting during Ramadan, and making the pilgrimage to Makkah (Mecca). These two sects also believe that the purpose of human life is to praise God so that one day the gates of Paradise will open for them.
What is the Difference between Sunni and Shia Islam?
Sunni followers believe that their prophet Muhammad did not appoint a specific successor before his death. After significant debate over several years, Sunni followers chose one of Muhammad’s fathers-in-law and a close friend, Abu Bakr Siddique, as their religious leader. Sunnis believe that the Imam, an important position within Islam, is the formal prayer leader. They also apply the teachings of the Qur’an to all of life and believe that individuals can approach God directly through prayer. In Sunni belief, God will present himself on Judgment Day.
Shia followers believe that their prophet Muhammad chose Ali ibn Abi Talib, his son-in-law, as successor. Their Imams are central figures and leaders of the community in Shia belief, they are the perfect manifestation of God. This branch of Islam relies more on the cleric’s interpretation of the Qur’an than on the individual’s relationship with God. Shia practitioners do not believe that humans will see God on Judgment Day.
This early division between Islam followers has led to additional distinct differences between the two. Over time, the Shia began to give more importance to specific Hadith and Sunnah literature, leaning toward those that were written by family and close associates of the Prophet. The Sunni, however gave the same importance to all Islamic literature. This difference has created a different understanding of Islamic law between the two. Shia followers also visit and honor shrines of past Imams, saints, and scholars. In the eyes of many Sunni, this is blasphemous and equivalent to worshipping other deities.
Some ritualistic differences can also be noted between the two. When Sunnis pray, they kneel so that their head touches their prayer mat. Shias, however, kneel so that their head touches bare earth or a small clay block taken from a holy place.
In leadership roles, the Shia have established a formal hierarchy among their clergy. Leaders arise from those with the most profound studies and they may teach all over the world. They fund their religious institutions through a mandatory tax. This hierarchy and taxation does not exist in Sunni Islam; because it is the majority religion in many places, the state often finances their religious institutions.
These are thus some of the basic differences between Sunni and Shia Muslims.
World Demographics
The Sunni branch is by far the largest denomination of Islam and represents 89-90% of all followers, they are located all over the world. Throughout the Middle East, their numbers are higher with large concentrations in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Aside from Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, and Azerbaijan, Sunnis constitute a larger population than Shia in any other country.
Shia are a minority sect making up only 10% to 13% of the total Muslim population. Calculating their population is difficult because unless they form a large minority group in their country, they are often counted as Sunni. Estimates hold that between 10% and 20% of the world’s Muslims are Shia. This number reaches approximately 200 million. They make up the majority in Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, and Azerbaijan. They also have a strong presence, roughly 30% of the population, in Lebanon, Yemen, and Kuwait. In Turkey, they make up just over 20% of the population and are between 10% and 20% in both Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Shia-Sunni Relations Today
Today, relations between Shias and Sunnis continue to be strained. Where Sunnis are the majority and hold political power, Shias tend to live in poor conditions. They believe these conditions are due to Sunni oppression and discrimination. Extreme Sunni fundamentalists claim that Shias are heretics and call for their murder.
Iran has national policies that support Shia military groups and political parties in other countries. Sunni-ruled countries have often perceived this as a threat to their well-being and responded by increasing funding to its interests everywhere.
In Syria, the conflict is complex but is divided along Shia-Sunni lines. The majority of the population is Sunni however, the government is Shia. Iran has been supporting Shia efforts to counter Sunni opposition by funding militia and sending troops. In retaliation, Sunni fighters are targeting Shia populations, Shia places of worship, and Iraq (majority Shia).
Efforts Towards Unity
Despite the differences between Sunni and Shia Muslims, all of this violence and distrust, some Muslim leaders do call for Shia-Sunni unity. They claim that fighting between the sects only works to weaken the Islamic religion. This unity stance has gained support since terrorists targeted the Prophet’s Mosque, the second holiest site of Islam located in Saudi Arabia during the month of Ramadan. This attack occurred just months before the Hajj pilgrimage. Iranian leaders joined the call for unity as well, an important change in stances given that Saudi Arabia is majority Sunni.

RomanceWhat A World: Who Would You Choose? by tanteta(op): 12:13pm On Jul 17, 2016
Pls I want a very sincere answer to this.......WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE?
A woman abandoned her husband & her four (4) year old son for her rich boyfriend & they both (woman & boy friend) eventually travelled to the U.S.A

Out of frustration & desperation the husband went & married another woman.

Unfortunately the 2nd woman couldn't bear a child for the husband.

Despite her inability to bear a child, the 2nd woman took great care of the boy & treated him like her own son.

Few years later, the husband died in a car accident.

The 2nd wife did everything in her power to educate the boy, she engaged in petty trade such as pepper, maggie, salt, palm oil, onion, tomatoes, etc, in the market square in order to sponsor the boy's schooling.

The boy only knew his step mother as his real mother & there4, he called her Mama.

The real mother in the U.S.A did not for once find out about the wellbeing of her son thoughtless of sending a penny for the boy, even after she heard that her x-husband (son's father) died in an accident.

Some years later, this boy grew up into a very intelligent young man waiting for his B.Sc Hons degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University.

The real mother who also could not bear another child in the U.S since she eloped with her boyfriend, realized that she had made a terrible mistake by abandoning her own son.

She decided to return home to look for her son & present to him all her wealth acquired over the years in the States.

She eventually found her son battling between life & death in the hospital due to kidney failure.

The Doctors demanded huge amount of money for the operation & the step mother couldn't afford it.

The real mother stepped in & paid all the hospital bills & donated one of her own kidneys & the son was saved.

Shortly after, the final results were out the son got a distinction & also got a five year (5) scholarship to pursue his Masters and PhD degrees in the U.K

At the presentation of the certificate, the Vice Chancellor gave the mic to the son to call his mother to come up stage & receive the certificate.

The moment the Vice Chancellor made the statement, the real mother got up & arranged herself waiting to be called upon whilst the step mother sat down & looked at the boy with tears running her chick.

Who should he call,
the real Mother
or the step mother?

proddey:
I wrote the PMP paper based test in Lagos on May 7th 2016 as CBT has been cancelled in Nigeria for some years now, and I passed at first attempt! I'm here to assist those who are also seeking to obtain this global certification.

How I prepared
I spent exactly 5 weeks of study. Developed a study guide/ daily time table and was reading for about 5-6 hrs per day since I wasn't working so I studied full time.

Study Materials I used
I used Rita Mulcahy's book "PMP Exam Prep" which I read over once and revised it once. I watched all the PM prepcast videos by Cornelius Fitchner and listened to all the audio CD's in Andy Crowe's "Conversations on the PMP exam" these three materials were all very very good and I strongly recommend them to anyone preparing to take the exam. I never read the PMBOK guide as it was too boring and difficult to understand so I only used it as a reference guide. The PMBOK guide in itself is inadequate as it only covers about 70% of the curriculum of the PMP exam. You'll need to use additional materials as well.

I took all the tests in Rita's book and scored on average 77.5%. I also took all the assessment tests in the end of all the prepcast videos and scored an average of 79%. There are lots of tips, tricks and secrets for preparing and getting the answers right in the exam which I learnt from the study materials I used.

Before the exam
A week to the exam I felt I hadn't studied enough so I was scared that I might not pass so I tried to postpone / cancel the exam but I found out that it wasn't possible on the PBT . To cancel or postpone a PBT you'd have to do it 35 days prior to the exam. I eventually just decided to take the exam anyway based on what I had studied so far.

The exam day
The invigilators didn't allow us to use the dumpsheet before the exam started unlike on the CBT that you are given 15 mins before the exam to use the dumpsheet. There weren't more than 4 calculation questions and they were quite easy. Overall I felt the exam was very difficult as I only answered about 185 questions out of 200. I had to just guess the remaining 15 questions. I felt my chances of passing were 50:50. I had made up my mind that if I didn't pass, I would just resit the exam 3 months later in August. So I hoped for the best but prepared for the worst.

The results came out after 10 days by email as it was a PBT. I passed and I'm PMP certified now!!

Are you preparing to take PMP exam in Lagos? Would you like to have the study materials I used? then send me an email a2space2015@gmail.com and request for the materials.

I will also share with you some tips and tricks for passing the exam on the first try.
I will really it if you extend this kind gesture ti me. penitentdave@gmail.com

PoliticsIjaw Nation Can Never Be A Conquered Territory. by tanteta(op): 7:54am On May 29, 2016
'Ijaw Nation can never be a conquered territory'
In my closest i've tried to examine and interpret the statement made by Sir Ahmadu Bello in the Parrot Newspaper of October 12, 1950 where he said: “This new nation called Nigeria shall be the enclave of our great grandfather- Usman Dan Fodio. We shall use the minority as willing tools; we shall use those of the South as a conquered territory. Never shall we allow them to gain power.”.
Now, look at the words of PMB in 2011 when GEJ won the general elections. He said this Nation will be ungovernable because a minority man from Ijaw won the election and it actually played out with the coming of the Islamic sect, the Boko Haram insurgency and now it has gone out of their hands as they no longer have control over them.
The Niger Delta people are not just maiming and killing people like the Boko Haram without a vision. The NDA wants True Fiscal Federalism. Regional structure and resource ownership. That to me is a very good agenda any true activist and ND people should fight for.
Now go back and cross examine what PMB his doing. His playing out the score card of the Northern Agenda. They used the conquered territory the south-west to reclaim power and now, implementing the Fulani position never to allow others have power. Look at this recent appointments. FRCN, NTA, VON, NBC, NAN and NOA. This are the six commission under information, but he gave 5 of this positions to core Northerners and gave the list VON to Osita Okechukwu who has started politicking with PMB from the days of CPC, a strong supporter of PMB.
No mattere our party affiliations, don't forget one fact, that you are Ijaw and so is your creation from God. Be wise.
My people, for all Ijaw females, is only me and Annkio Briggs that is in the watch list of the Fed Govt. Will that deter me from speaking for the Ijaw Nation and her mother's? Capital NO.
If am only known for fighting a good course for my people, I prefer to die for the course I believe. Ijaw Nation can never be a conquered territory by the sons of Usman Dan Fodio. Tufiakwa.

AMCON VS CAPITAL OIL AND GAS: COURT STRIKES OUT AMCON’S ACTION AGAINST CAPITAL OIL AND GAS

The Federal High Court, Lagos Division, on Friday struck out the suit commenced by the Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) against Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited on the ground that the suit is premature and seeks to circumvent existing suits in different courts on issues relating to the alleged indebtedness of Capital Oil and Gas which is currently under dispute.

This was the basis of an or-der by the judge, Justice Idris, striking out a petition filed in the court by AMCON for the freezing of Capital Oil and Gas’ accounts and winding up of Capital Oil and Gas Ltd. for alleged inability to pay the disputed debt.

In the ruling delivered on Friday 6th May 2016 in Suit No. FHC/L/CP/506/2016, the judge upheld the contention of Capital Oil and Gas’ counsel, Ajibola Oluyede, represented by Michael Damiari, that the winding up proceedings filed by AMCON against Capital Oil and Gas was intended to circumvent the existing actions in suits FHC/ABJ/CS/430/15; FHC/ABJ/CS/514/15 and FHC/L/CS/1529/15 where-in live issues pertaining to the consent judgment in FHC/ABJ/CS/714/2012 which is the subject matter of the winding up petition are pending. According to the court “until the issues raised in those suits are determined, it will be premature to say the judgment debt has crystalized as provided in clause 2.4 of the consent judgment”.

In defence, Capital Oil and Gas, in its Respondent’s Counter Affidavit of 91 paragraphs deposed to by Nsikan Usoro in opposition to AMCON’s petition, had contended that AMCON grossly violated the terms of the consent judgment entered between the two parties. It was argued that AMCON failed, refused and/or neglected to inject the requisite funds into Capital Oil and Gas as agreed and contained in the terms of the consent judgment despite Capital Oil and Gas fulfilling all its obligation of transferring assets valued at over N150 billion to AMCON. It was also contended that Capital Oil and Gas, which is a going concern and also a company of strategic national importance responsible for a great percentage of petroleum products distributed nationwide, is not insolvent, not indebted to AMCON, neither was it unable to pay its debt as the company has assets worth over N300 billion, far in excess of any alleged debt to AMCON or any other creditor.

It was further argued that AMCON is indebted to Capital Oil and Gas to the tune of over N150 billion, arising from economic losses and damages inflicted on Capital Oil and Gas by AMCON, through the gross mismanagement of Capital Oil and Gas’ prime facilities and business interests during the two years of AMCON’s ill management of Capital Oil and Gas, which is the subject matter of suit no. FHC/ABJ/CS/430/2015 and in other various claims pending before different courts.

The court agreed with the argument of Capital Oil and Gas in its preliminary objection and struck out the petition. The court also set aside all the interim orders made by the court therein.

PoliticsCCB Completes Verification Of Buhari, Saraki Assets by tanteta(op): 6:43pm On May 04, 2016
– The head of CCB announced the accomplishment of verification of Buhari, Osinbajo, Saraki assets
– The bureau asked those to those who are yet to declare their assets to collect, fill and submit same to the office The Code of Conduct Bureau has finished the confirmation of the assets published by the officials of the incumbent government of President Muhammadu Buhari. Punch reports that the officials include the president, his vice Yemi Osinbajo, the Senate president Bukola Saraki and others. Mohammed Idris, Head, Press and Protocol Unit of the bureau, revealed this in a statement titled ‘Re: CCB still verifying Buhari, Osinbajo, Saraki’s, others’assets’ on May 4, Wednesday. He said: “ The bureau wishes to inform the general public that it has since concluded the verification of assets declared by those mentioned in the said publication.
“Therefore, the said publication is another trick to misinform the public so as to undermine the ongoing trials of cases of false declaration of assets before the Code of Conduct Tribunal. “It could be observed that since the inception of the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari, the rate of compliance by public officials in responding to assets declaration has greatly increased. “The bureau will like to use this medium to appeal to those who are yet to declare their assets to visit the Asokoro, Head Office of No 23, Halle Salasi Street Asokoro, Abuja to collect, fill and submit same to the office.” During his electoral campaign, Muhammadu Buhari hit the headlines by making a sensational promise to publicly declare his assets to Nigerians.
However, the presidency later denied that President Buhari promised this during the election campaign. At the same time, Nigeria’s leader has declared he has $150,000 in his personal account. According to presidential media aide the amount showed Buhari and minister of petroleum had been living a “Spartan lifestyle”.

PoliticsNigeria Has The Best Brand Of Democracy In Africa – EU by tanteta(op): 6:14pm On May 04, 2016
– EU rates Nigeria’s democracy as the best

is a country where freedom of expression is

– Arrion says that these significant steps
underlines the priority the EU accorded to
freedom of opinion and expression as an
essential foundation for democracy
The European Union (EU) on Tuesday, May
3, has described Nigeria’s brand of
democracy as the best in Africa, over one
year after ex-president Goodluck Jonathan
conceded defeat to President Muhammadu
Buhari.

According to EU, Nigeria is running the most
vibrant democracy in the continent with
absolute press freedom, Daily Post reports.

Speaking at the 2016 World Press Freedom
Day celebration in Abuja with the theme:
“Access to information and fundamental
freedom: This is your right”, Michel Arrion,
the ambassador and head of the EU
delegation to Nigeria, said: “Nigeria, in our
assessment, is a country where freedom of
expression is in general respected, the
traditional media is relatively pluralistic,
bloggers and cyber activists share their views.
“Nigeria boasts of a large, vibrant social media
community, whose engagement with the socio-
political processes has enriched public
discourse and widened the frontier of
participation on issues that concerns the
citizenry.”

Arrion added that these significant steps
underlined the priority the EU accorded to
freedom of opinion and expression as an
essential foundation for democracy.
He said the EU recognised that free, diverse,
independent media were essential for the
promotion and protection of freedom of
opinion and expression.
“By facilitating the free flow of information and
ideas on matters of public interest, and by
ensuring transparency and accountability,
independent media constitute one of the
cornerstones of democracy,” he stated.
The former president Goodluck Jonathan
speaking on why he conceded defeat to
President Muhammadu Buhari in the March
28 presidential election, had said he did so
to avert a collective tragedy.
