netmycs: @op, let me tell you from first hand experience/info.
Currently, jobs are a bit scarce. The ones easily available are low paying jobs between 100k to 150k naira. If you have real Security job experience, you might be lucky to get a pay around 200k naira. Security jobs might not be that hard but it could be sometimes. Agent From distance, the agent is not 100% plain. By that, i mean he has charged extra money. Perhaps his own agency fee is inclusive if truly he will get you the promised job. Reason is, for 3 months visa, which is the max visa period you can be given, will cost normally around 200k and your flight also around 200k (both figures are a bit above the real cost) and i stand to be challenged by any agent. All other money needed by you will be for feeding and transportation plus recharge card. Normal bed space is around 60 to 70k naira. So, be wary about the agent except the person is already working in the company and wants to make extra money from you because there is an opening in their company. Anything apart from these, is a BIG SCAM. Truly and fairly, you will live with 6 to 8 people in a room if not more in some cases. But this does not mean, its a hell. You will still live your normal life. And it gets better or lesser number of people as you earn better. Once again, Dubai is not bed of roses but the little you can earn and save, you either move to other countries or come home to do something for yourself.
On the flipside, if you are inclined to entrepreneurship, i think you can start a small business with what is left after renting a house like you said. Though i would suggest you hang around a bit more where you are now to have more money and less pressure to make big profit from the business. Business doesn't become big overnight even if you got it right from onset. Its takes time. The question is do you have the patience. If no, find reliable and truthful people here in Dubai to help you out or give a soft landing. If you are lucky to get something a bit meaningful started here as a job, you can be ok within few years.
Just REMEMBER that, Dubai is a place you come to WORK, EARN, SAVE and RETURN back to your country to do something that pleases you. DON'T BE CARRIED AWAY BY THE BLISS AND BLING BLINGS.
Wishing you the best. you are so resourceful, your advice us commendable. After reading this one can just take decision without much thinking. Keep saying the truth as it should be. |

Good morning! Having find your way here you have been delivery from agents, praised the Lord!. Your will need GRE, TOEFL, Transcripts recommendation letters from your lecturers, write a good SOP, some (very few) programs might ask for statement of research intent. Start your school search now, you could use some help from these websites; gradcafe, petersons.com, USnews.com. Usually its advisable that when making choice of school there should be a mix of ambitious, moderate, and safe, in your final list. Email the grad coordinator if the respective programs you intend to apply to and ask them questions that can not be easily gotten from the program website. Questions about funding, which faculty is launching a new project (it means the faculty will have some form of funding) etc. There are still many things I have to tell you. I will advise you follow this thread; https://www.nairaland.com/1832477/how-achieve-high-scores-gre read from first page to the end, by the time you are down you will have a better perspective. Cost analysis; GRE: $205 TOEFL: $180 Application fees for about 5 schools (it is usually advisable to apply to more than 1 school): average of $60*5 = $300 Transcripts: depending on your school it could cost you 30k.If the school you are applying to asked you to do WES then like additional $200. ( I will advise you to avoid school that ask for WES and Official transcript except you are 70% sure of admission or you are bucks up - omo baba olowo). Goodluck. Thank you very much[/quote] |
