Phones / Things You Should Never Do While Charging Your Smartphone by Tarivanessa(f): 1:56pm On Apr 20, 2018 |
Charging our phones is a constant process we have to undergo, in as much as we desire to use and explore our devices, we also owe it a duty to ensure to maintain our most important mobile support device. Whenever you charge, ensure that your battery reaches at least 80% charge. It is not necessary that it should always be topped up to maximum. All batteries have an expiry date. Same is true for smartphones' batteries as well. However, the way you use your smartphone also goes a long way in deciding the longevity of your device's battery. Here, charging habits as well as the chargers you use also play an important role. You should never do the following while charging you device. 1. leaving your phone charging through the night is sure to hurt the battery's health in the long run. 2. Using cheap chargers are dangerous both for your smartphone and its battery. 3. Always charge your phone with its own charger. Unlike laptops, smartphones use a universal charging interface ¬ the microUSB port. 4. However, if the charger you use does not match the original, it will affect battery performance, capacity to store charge and overall life (if done repeatedly). 5. Always ensure that the replacement charger's output voltage (V) and current (Ampere) rating matches the original adapter or is approved by the phone's manufacturer. Avoid cheap chargers from unknown manufacturers. They do not include any safety mechanisms to protect against fluctuation and over charging. Adapter failure could permanently damage the battery and phone. It is recommended that you remove the phone's protective case while charging. It is natural for the battery to become slightly warm, but the case may act as a barrier and slow down heat dissipation. If possible, flip the phone over and place it on a soft cloth to protect the display. http://www.infinix.club/forum/196/372936 7 Likes 1 Share |

Phones / Ear Buds And Headphones: Safe Listening Tips For Kids And Teens by Tarivanessa(f): 11:39am On Apr 20, 2018 |
There’s a big push to pay attention to how much “screen time” kids have these days, with electronic tablets now becoming more commonplace in schools as well as at home. Part of that effort should also be focused on the impact this has on their hearing. While there are many different causes of noise-induced hearing loss, the pervasiveness of portable listening devices can’t be ignored. In fact, a 2010 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that 1 in 5 teenagers have experienced some degree of hearing loss. Ear buds are placed directly in the ear and can increase the sound signal by as much as 6 to 9 decibels. At maximum volume, this places music from personal audio devices somewhere between the noise created from power tools and that of loudspeakers at a rock concert. Here are some tips for safe listening from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA): • Keep it down: We’ll start with the obvious and point out that a good guideline to follow is keeping the dial to about half volume. • Take breaks: Like any part of your body, your ears can get tired, and any damage from noise is made worse with longer exposure. Think of the 60-60 rule: 60 percent volume for 60 minutes. This also helps with that pesky “screen time” issue. • Be an example: If children see you blaring your tunes, it’ll be tougher for them to want to keep the volume down. It’s also important for parents to have their child see an audiologist to establish a baseline hearing level. The audiologist can then recommend a hearing-loss prevention program suited for that child’s individual needs. We know that parents are concerned about this, too, but that hasn’t always translated into action. In a recent AHSA national poll, 75 percent of parents said that teaching the proper use of ear buds and headphones is important, but that only 50 percent have brought up the topic with their children. It’s never the wrong time to start the discussion. http://www.infinix.club/forum/196/372913

Phones / New Headset Enables You To Talk Without Using Your Mouth by Tarivanessa(f): 11:47am On Apr 19, 2018 |
Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have created a headset called AlterEgo. Amazingly, the headset can transcribe your thoughts, we saw a similar idea and concept from an episode of Black Mirror but now it’s in reality’s fruition. The new device is supposed to be worn on the face, and electrodes pick up signals from your jaw and face that are triggered by internal thoughts but are undetectable to the human eye. These signals picked up by the electrodes are then fed to a machine – learning system that’s trained to associate certain signals with certain words. The system also contains a pair of bone -conduction headphones, which transmit vibrations through the bones of the face to the inner ear. This enables the system to carry out information to the user without interrupting their conversation. “At the moment, the use of those devices is very disruptive. “If I want to look something up that’s relevant to a conversation I’m having, I have to find my phone and type in the passcode and open an app and type in some search keyword, and the whole thing requires that I completely shift attention from my environment and the people that I’m with to the phone itself.“So, my students and I have for a very long time been experimenting with new form factors and new types of experience that enable people to still benefit from all the wonderful knowledge and services that these devices give us, but do it in a way that lets them remain in the present.” To develop properly the efficiency of the AlterEgo device, the researchers first had to determine which parts of the face are the sources of the reliable neuromuscular signals. To do this, they conducted a survey and asked several people to say a series of words, while wearing a range of electrodes on their face. This allowed them to distinguish where on the face different sounds are vocalised. The resulting headset is around 92 percent accurate, but the researchers believe that this should improve with more training data. source http://www.infinix.club/forum/197/371850 1 Like 1 Share |
