Please, does anyone have knowledge of passport tracking? I applied in November 2022 and opted for the special delivery envelope option, but I am yet to receive my passport. |

comonsavar: I am so sorry for the reply. When I did mine in March, I got my passport within 2 weeks of Biometric. But for my kids which I did in May and July I have not still gotten it. I got through to them in September and they told me one of the kids NIN has a different second name. The other 2 I removed one name when I was doing their biometrics. They said there shouldn't be a problem but till now nothing I emailed no reply. I don't live in London and I have not had time to go yet.
In conclusion, if all your data matches and your NIN is activated then you should get it within 2 weeks after appointment. Is there a way to find out if NIN is activated? |

Have you gotten your passport now? Santa2: If you are going to the Nigerian High Commision for passport renewal and you booked an appointment, I have one piece of advice for you. Ignore your appointment time and get there as soon as possible. Apparently, your appointment time does not matter (they just need to know you booked), You are given a tally number when you get there, that determines when you are attended to. Hence the earlier you get there, the earlier you leave. Also be prepared to stand for a while. I can't imagine what people with little kids would have gone through if an adult like was that stressed. Also be prepared to spend the whole day. Hopefully you all have better experience that I did last week. Nigeria, we hail thee.. |

A parent applied for another country's visa with a minor, the parent was refused therefore the minor was automatically refused. When completing UK visa form, should the minor's refusal be stated on previous refusals in the minor's application or only the parents' since the minor did not apply independently. I was informed that visa refusal of a minor is usually not considered because they are underage. |

If you have a newborn, and you intend to travel with the baby to another country, will there be an issue returning to the UK as the baby does not have BRP, only the parents do. |

giselle237: NIN is not done at the HIGH COMMISSION. Check google for where to do NIN in the UK. Book to do NIN for every body that needs and go to the centre. After you get your NIN which can be upto 2 weeks after doing finger print… then you can go to the High Commission in London for passport biometrics capture . Also note, you cant go to the High Commission without booking appointment online. Thank you giselle237 and domin8, you've been very helpful. |

domin8: To add to this, I was at the high commission last Friday to renew my Son's passport. Just ensure you get there early enough (8 - 8:30am) before they open and join the queue. They currently use a tally number system so it's first come first enter irrespective of your appointment time. I got in 8:30am and we left 12pm. We had all our documents though and didn't need to tip anybody, hope this helps. Thank you domin8. I do not have NIN, can I do both same day or two consecutive days as I am outside london? |

giselle237: no insider needed Find the link to pay. Pay online, if you dnt have NIN, find nin centre and go and sort out NIN if you dnt have. It is 40 pounds. Before, during or after NIN book a passport biometrics date … ideally 2 to 3 weeks after ur nin capture. After payment for passport you need to book an appointment. Check the thread for the passport appointment booking link as well Also need to buy postal order addressed to NHC for 20 pounds and if u wont b returning to pick passport up, buy a self addressed enevelope Thank you for this detailed information. Is NIN still required for a newborn or only for those old enough to have a thumbprint? |

Ticha: Oh and always set some money aside for a rainy fund. You own a house and all the responsibility is yours. Boiler breaks down? You need funds for that. Fence blows over in the storm? You pay. Toilet blocks? You pay. Basically learn to do minor house repairs on your. Painting, tiling, cleaning gutters, hanging and removing wall papers etc are all skills I have learnt from owning our own home.
Solicitor fees is usually between £300 and £600 ish
Most brokers are free to you - they get commission from the bank.
Stamp duty is payable on properties above £125k so budget for that as well - https://www.gov.uk/stamp-duty-land-tax/residential-property-rates.
If you buy a flat or apartment, you will also pay a service charge and/or lease charge plus ground rent. For any apartments, your solicitor should check how much the sinking fund is, when major repairs were last undertaken (imagine moving in and being stung for a roof replacement!) etc. Check the length of the lease. If shorter than 110 years, abandon ship!
I'll add more as I remember. What about this relief? https://www.gov.uk/stamp-duty-land-tax

donald197: Good evening my mum was denied visiting visa today based on lump sum and inability to prove relationship. Meanwhile we both stated in our letters that I am the main sponsor of everything that does with her trip. Flight, accommodation, cost of living etc.
Also she submitted my birth certificate, wedding and graduation pictures that we took together yet they said she can't prove our relationship.
The worst is they said I don't have the right to contest the decision.
I need advice on how to prove lumpsum relationship, when to reapply. She's meant to come help with our new born. . Sorry about your mum, please what is the ECO's definition of a lumpsum? is it 100k or 200k or 1m? |

Yes, as long as the school accepted it and stated it in your CAS, I did same. Gunit87: Please I urgently need your kind opinion. My school just sent my CAS to me to review the information before they submit and issue me the CAS to apply for visa. The issue is that, I submitted IELTS General in my application and they mentioned it in my CAS and I quote " Transcript of Academic Record for a Masters in Economics from University of Bleep, Nigeria. This Applicants English has been HEP assessed to a level of CEFR B2 or above by using IELTS" My question, is submitting IELTS General for visa application acceptable?please help!!! @justwise and @all |
