Family / Re: Undetected Sickle Celler by tayyibb(m): 12:04am On Jan 31, 2021
pragmatistm:
Did you read the comment from student of truth:

It is possible the woman is AA, but is most likely is a beta thalassemia carrier, which most Nigerian labs don't test for!

The child inherited a HbS gene from the father and a beta thalassemia gene from the mother.

Here's what is likely going on in the child:

The thalassemic Hb gene from the mother cannot produce any reasonable hemoglobin.
The HbS gene from the father produces sickled hemoglobin.

The end result is the child having sickled hemoglobin in his/her blood, which Nigerian labs would tag SS.

That's answers you.
Exactly
There was a similar case a professor in haematology narrated to us, it almost tore the family apart until it was discovered the the child had Beta thalassemia.
Education / Re: University Of Ibadan International School Shut Over Hijab As Parents Kick by tayyibb(m): 4:33am On Nov 13, 2018
computergeek:
I'm not trying to bring them down or denigrate them, but I just feel Muslims like to act as if they're being mistreated. I understand that they take their religion as a culture, but then again they should stop forcing their nuggets on other people, because some of us take our religions very seriously too but we know when to cut back.

A government school is not a religious school. It won't kill anyone if the girls drop their hijabs for a few hours of school. Schools don't allow Catholic kids to wear Chaplets and medals and finger Rosaries. Schools don't allow girls from other Christian denominations to cover their hair or wear Church vests to school, so why should Muslim girls be permitted to wear hijabs to government schools? Everyone should try to be more tolerant, more flexible and less over-zealous.
And you think they are not been mistreated?
Actually they are

The foundation of Nigerian education was based on the idea of our colonial master most if not all were Christian missionaries.
Everything about the structure is in line with Christianity, that is why you can't see anything wrong in it.

We are now an independent nation, our ideology too should be independent,we know there are both Christians and Muslims in this country let accommodate both and stop hiding under secularism, Nigeria is not a secular nation except we want to deceive ourselves.

What is wrong in wearing hijab?will it affect your own dress?
Tell me.The problem stems from the fact that we claim to live together but we fail to understand eachother.
Muslim prays compulsorily 5times a day and part of the requirements is for you to cover what is necessary in your body.If Muslims are not allow to wear hijab, they won't be able to do this obligation anywhere they are whenever there is time for the prayer.

Any thing that is demanded by Muslims are called many names Islamisation, extremism, terrorism.Let stop this and reason intellectually. We are all biased in one way or the other we just don't won't to agree, give us space too what are you afraid of.

Islam is not limited to mosque,it pervades all areas of a Muslim life,he must look at everything with Islamic spectacles and act accordingly.

If it is a private enterprise u can have it in your way but for government owned we both have the right to enjoy it without infringement on our fundamental rights.

Please can anyone help with information? My younger sister dropped out of medicine in one of the federal universities in 400 level. She said she wrote and passed the first professional examination in 300 level and got promoted to 400 leve, but couldn't pass 400 level exams. She dropped out then because she was frustrated.

Now, she wants to go back to complete her studies. Please what are her chances? Can she get transferred into another university? Can she be given admission into 200 Level or 400level in another university? Please, which university do you suggest?

And does anyone have any information about University of Medical Sciences, Ondo? Do you think they can admit her into 400 level there? What is the school fees and what are her chances? Please your responses will be appreciated.
It is possible in private university
I know of someone that was withdrawn in Part3 and started again from part 3 in a private university.

Admission In Niga Even In Oau Is Who U Knw. I Knw Of A Guy In Oau Who Got Admitted 2 Oau Medic&surg Wit Just 228 Total Agg Nd Stil Doin Wel
That is true almost everywhere but actually there are MERITS,if u beat the cutoff ur admission is sure without connection and if not the next thing is to pull the string to be among the supplementary list.
U don't have to be brilliant to do well in medicine if u know what u are doing but the problem is to enter thru merit u have to be extremely brilliant

I take it you saying Nigeria would still be here had Jonathan done something like that? Continue playing the ostrich. ain't in support of what CAN is doing in Osun, but please don't talk about intolerance when you would never accept it if the roles were reversed.
Who is playing Ostrich?Do u even get the intolerance am talking about.Just think of it, is their any part of ur religious rite that is being jeopardise by how things run in Nigeria.
u hav Sunday as day of rest why not Friday?we are not having issue with this.
Have u ever been in a condition to chose between ur exam and ur prayer?never
These are what am talking about.Let us recognise the important of one another then peace will reign.

do you know Nigeria is a member of the organization of Islamic nations? Now, do you think Nigeria would still be here, if say, Jonathan had subscribed Nigeria to a organization of Christian nations?
this is not a matter of being a membership, this is a matter of reality of that membership.Does this reflect in their actions, their dealing with us?No of course.
The reality is what we are yelling for
This our right

It pains me seeing people speak ignorantly. A good Muslim will never separate religion from his affairs. All these shouting here and there does concern me.My concern is that we Muslim should know more about Islam and be firm in. Most of what the non-muslims know abt Islam is what those propaganda of falsehood tell them.
I think it high time we stood up to the task.Let them know what the real Islam is.
They tell us we are intolerant while they oppress us.When the constitution u claim to follow says there is freedom of religion how can u deny me hijab when it is one of fundamentals of my religion?
How can u force me to sing on assembly ground every morning when this is against my religion?Imaging some telling u can't practice as a doctor because of ur beard. They behave as if Muslims don't exist at all. They have turned all places to church;in car, hospitals etc etc
Let stand up against all these.
Nigeria is for all of us.Respect my faith and I respect urs.

lomaxx: Ok this is what I'm gonna do
I'm gonna categorize all thr soft copy links from preclinical to final year
All the books you're gonna need
Both Indian and others. You heard me right- Indian books.
-You can have Vasudevan, Charteajea , Sembulimgam , Harsh Mogan all in clean soft copy.
So drop your mails while I find start work.

May I use this time to say that as a medical student, a tablet is a must-have. You need it. If you have money, buy an iPad, bcause the battery life is flawless. The iPad 4 has a battery capacity of over 11,000 mah. If you're just using it to read without browsing, you could go for 4days without charge.

If you don't have money so much, buy a good tablet with a decent battery life. Tecno pads have decent battery life. Samsung too.

With a tablet you can have so many books at your disposal. Instead of buying one book and being limited, you can have as many as 4. It gives you an advantage over ur peers. And best if all, you can read anywhere.

Good luck guys. I'll get back to y'all.
my mail is anifowosetoyib@gmail.com thanks in advance
