I guess raahym is "tirelessly working round-the-clock" to upgrade hitv services to "international standard" and add more channels that have been promised for ages .

BTW; have you gotten the hitv terrestial frequency you were requesting for? Wish i could help out like i did with the satellite frequency

I mainly watch hitv because of soccer, Oprah/Everybody Hates Chris on himix (though they're old editions) and some news.

and all  that for 4K!!! , now dats not fair!

I had to take my decoder all the way to Ebute-Metta for the software upgrade to fix the recurrent scrambled channel problem and on wednesday nite i discovered  the 'access denied" error even though i just payed the previous week .  I had to call them yesterday morning with my receipt details to give me access.

hitv, hmnnnnnnnn . . . . . . . . . . . . . . , if not for premieship . . . . .

Do they have Exclusive rights to all these competitions?

I got an SMS some hours ago from hitv apologising for the scrambled channels on their "hi channels" saying their engineers are "working on it"


So i guess lets wait and see ,

(BTW: They seem to be sending a lot of bulk sms these days , at least they're notifying customers of "challenges" these days rather than keeping quiet)

United have confirmed the first-team squad will play in South Africa as part of the pre-season preparations for the 2008/09 campaign.

The travelling party, which will be confirmed at a later date but will include those players not involved in Euro 2008, will fly out on 19 July for their seven-day trip.

Full details of match dates will be communicated by Sir Alex Ferguson at a press conference in February.

The Reds last visited South Africa in 2006 and the United boss is looking forward to the team's summer return.

With respect to scramble problem: i actually received an SMS some days ago from hitv saying: "Do you still experience scrabmled channel on your decoder? A free software upgrade is now available. Pls contact your nearest Hitv dealer". So you can contact your dealer if they have the upgrade.

I also received an SMS from hitv yesterday saying: "Pls ensure your subscriptions are paid up to avoid disconnection during the Nations cup"

So i "guess" one can deduce from that SMS, that they would be showing it. A call to their customer care could however be made to be double sure.

Am not very sure of the setting off my head but let me see , (BTW, i'm on the satellite package)

From Menu, go to Installation, then press the Manual Scan button.

Then make sure you input these settings:

Satellite: Eutelsat W4

Frequency: (40) 11.900 Ghz

Symbol Rate: 27.500 Ms.

Polarization: H

Network Search : ON


The symbol rate and polarisation are automatically set once you specify the (40) 11.900Ghz frequency


Then click on OK. That should do the trick

I'm on the satellite package and i was able to watch the match sha.

So why did Ronaldo not allow Tevez to play the penalty and get his hat-trick?

Or is it b'cos he's yet to get his own elusive hat-trick?

Guess that was toooo selfish of him, considering the fact that the game was already wrapped up when we got the penalty.

The "hi" channels seems to be so unpredictable. HiLife/HiMix has been off for several days now.

To my suprise HiMix showed yesternite, but it also looked like one of the other "hi" channels that were showing previously suddenly stopped showing yesternite.

Looks like its 'easier' for these guys to show the foreign channels than their own "hi" channels, maybe they should just concentrate on getting more of those foreign free-to-air stations than this their "low" , or sorry "hi" channels.

I hope "urfriend" and "rahynn" are taking note.

Well for now, DSTV seems to be far better than HITV in terms of programming content (even out of their 13 channels, some of their "hi" channels are so epilepctic. The only thing i'm using to 'console' myself is that its really on weekends i have time to watch TV (mainly soccer)

The "give-them-time" excuse may not work for long, cos like someone mentioned earlier, GLO started some years after MTN/Celtel, yet they were able to perform at par with their competitiors.

hitv also has monthly subscriptions, (the yearly subscription was optional), in fact the main reason i did not subscribe to the yearly subscription was that i sensed that with their poor programming content i may not need to watch hitv during the off-season.

I was about posting my observation on hitv when i saw niyi09's comment and he said what was exactly on my mind.

4K for just premiership and la liga is very very unfair and with the rate at they are going, nobody will pay for subscription during the off-season cos hitv minus premiership/la liga = empty content

Though it looks like they've sort of 'stabilised' on their coverage of the premiership and la liga for now and they also have pre-match,half-time analysis of some the the games.

But the customers have been patient enuff, it's time we see considerable improvements.

Well if you're a premiership freak, hitv seems to be the only option now (and maybe for the next 3 yrs) since they have 80% rights.

But if you are more desirous of quality content in terms of movies,music,documentaries e.t.c, then DSTV still holds the ace.

However,if u want to get the best of both worlds, then u get both decoders and use one dish (since it seems they point to the same satellite)

Arsenal are playing fantastic foootball, but same goes for Man United too.

And the new players (Nani,Anderson,Tevez,Hargreaves) seemed to have integrated well into the Man United setup now.

So, it's going to be a tight game, but United will have that slight edge/experience to snatch the victory

I'm seeing a lot of newspaper reports about them these days, looks like they're partnering with some firms and educational instituitions.

Also how have u guys been[b] paying ur subscriptions[/b] (cos i did not have to pay in October due to their "free" offer) and also how fast does it take to effect the subscription if have i have to pay at any GTB Branch. (Going to their Ebuta-Metta office will be too far for me).

They also said they'll introduce paying using their recharge cards soon, though i doubt if they'll do that soon.

I wanna make sure i don't have any 'subscription suspended' problem on Nov. 3rd (when Man U will 'gun down' the gunners )

I'm contemplating on taking a .NET Training at New Horizons Learning Center but i want to get the comments of those who might have taken their .NET Training recently.

Based on my experience and experinces of others, i've realised that some of these Learning Centres offer so much but deliver little, so i want to have anybody's experience with New Horizons before making a final decision.

HiSports seems to be working well now (after several weeks of showing "scrambled")

I'm also on their satellite and i saw Nigezie and PrimeTV yesterday nite.

Also, I hardly experience picture cracks these days on the satellite package. Could the picture crack be a terrestial cable problem or dish installation thing?

In fact most of the hitv channels i get have 98% signal quality.

Just re-scan for new channels on your decoder.
