Phones / Ntel 4G LTE Data Plan Compared With Mtn 3G & U.S. T-mobile 4G LTE Price by TechRez(m): 9:46am On Apr 11, 2016 |
As NTEL begins commercial roll out of 4G LTE service in Nigeria, there is electricity in the air while users gear up to taste the true definition of Long Term Evolution internet access. The newly acquired and re-branded telecom giant is currently live in Lagos and Abuja. NTEL reportedely partnered with leading Nigeria’s smartphone giant Tecno and others to roll out the service at an event in Lagos. In the early days of March, the company opened up its online SIM reservation portal for new users to have a unique 0804 range of mobile numbers. There have been no slowing down in the company’s effort to push 4G LTE to Nigerians who feel betrayed by the so-called existing telecom giants who have failed in providing basic 3G internet access to their users. NTEL equally rolled out several incentives, including life time free calls and free unlimited three months 4G LTE internet access for early adopters. However, the momentum NTEL currently has looks like it’s slowing down temporally after it released its first batch of 4G internet data plan with unlimited offer and speed trotting which provoked a corresponding backlash from Nigerians who think the price is way over the top. Judging by the theoretical facts of NTEL’s 4G LTE data plan, it is said to offer speed up to 230mbps, the fastest download speed I have seen is on MTN, 1.5mbps. Although on paper, the network provider claims to offer 7.2mbps which I have never seen. Therefore, it is safe to assume that we will get an average of 100mbs with NTEL which would be super-fantastic with its current price tag. MTN Nigeria has a 7.5GB monthly data plan priced at N8,000. That’s the best offer you can get for heavy users, but extremely limited and frustrating all the same. NTEL poses a threat to other network providers in Nigeria, the network provider has priced its data plan to be one of the cheapest in the world. For a paltry N9,000 you get Unlimited data with daily 3GB speed trotting (speed falls to 512bps) If you compare 4G LTE data in the United States, network providers like AT&T and T-mobile which have huge coverage provide 4G LTE internet plan from $35-$120/month. Just like NTEL, most of the offer comes with unlimited data and speed trotting on heavy usage. NTEL 4G Long Term Evolution, LTE network infrastructure will be an instant success. As a hardcore gamer greatly frustrated by network providers, the PlayStation network and Xbox Live will see a massive surge in user activity from Nigeria. Also, the news of Sony bringing its first party PlayStation games to Android and iOS would have no limitations for Nigerians. All of those games will have multi-player support which requires network access with no lag. Outside gaming, the super-fast NTEL 4G LTE will really improve e-learning and drive companies to profit. It will also reduce the extortion from Pay TV’s. Online streaming services like iRokoTV and Netflix would also be the early beneficiary. To this end, MTN has seen the handwriting on the wall, the company recently lost about 2.6 million internet subscribers, but they have acquired Visafone and attempt to use it to provide high-speed internet for Nigerians. A move that has led to several court cases from other network provider as NCC continues to delay bid for 4G LTE licences. NTEL data price rage is a reflection of serious market research. The only set of people complaining about the price of NTEL 4G LTE can be traced to users who rendered GLO network totally useless from tweaking the BlackBerry internet plan to work on Android phones. At this time, GLO lacks the capacity to disable Mobile Hotspot, so users who tweak the BIS plan eventually get to use it on any device via Mobile Hotspot. GLO has more internet users than it can handle with its mediocre network infrastructure and that can explain why users in different parts of the country complain of poor internet speed. http://www.techrez.com/ntel-4g-lte-data-plan-compared-u-s-t-mobile-4g-lte-price/ 4 Likes |

Display: Tecno boom j8 handle Visually the screen on the phone is stunning. While it is not Full HD, the HD IPS panel with 1080 x 720 resolution does a pretty nice job with multimedia and gaming. Being an upper-mid-range smartphone, there is absolutely nothing to complain about the screen aspect, although I would have appreciated a tinnier bezel. Software And Performance Frankly, I expected Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box, but it’s the 5.1 Lollipop OS that rocks the phone. An update to the latest Android OS should start rolling any moment from now, however. |

Tecno Boom J8 is a nearly perfect smartphone and for once I honestly cannot think of a single element that is missing from it. You can’t help but feel sorry for users of Tecno Boom J7. One would expect a minor upgrade with the Boom J8, but it is created to capture a modern design language paired with frankly impressive specs that crushes other smartphones within the same price range. The large, curved edged, sexy smartphone is undeniably beautiful, but there is still a lot to be said for the flat-screened device. Let’s find out what makes Tecno’ Boom J8 a stealer device. Design & Display Strangely, Tecno Boom J8 is characteristically thin, although not too thin to complete against the world’s slimmest smartphones. The device brings a new design language that mimics the iPhone 6S Plus. Except for the Apple logo and the antenna lining missing at the back of the device, it could easily be mistaken to be a pure breed Apple smartphone. Picking up the device is easy and handling is exceptionally comfortable. Thanks to the slightly curved edges and the flat-back – it’s easier to hold, though still just as easy to drop. There is no rare camera bump, an attention to design detail that scores an extra point. It’s hard to hold the Tecno Boom J8 for the first time and not instantly fall in love with it. The overall feel of the phone is one of class – the changes from the Boom J7 are ruthless, but totally worthwhile. Tecno does an excellent job in its choice of the speaker’s placement and sound is powered by Max Audio technology which I found pretty cool. The headphone socket placement is at the top, like most smartphone currently available in Nigeria. The volume controls and power button are on the right, just like the previous incarnations. On the front, the 5MP selfie shooter is easily spotted, and it’s paired with soft flash at the top right. The dual SIM and MicroSD card port are revealed when you remove the back cover. The Battery is sealed, can’t be removed and it is rated 3000mAh. http://www.techrez.com/tecno-boom-j8-review/

Phones / Hey Tecno, No Need To Talk About The Boom J8. We’re Already Buying by TechRez(m): 6:23pm On Mar 22, 2016 |
After coming under the hammer in the last few years, Tecno’s best year in Nigeria was in 2015 where they adopted a new mobile strategy that provides three exclusive line of smartphones that appeal to different set of users. Music lovers will instantly fall in love with the Tecno Boom J8, the company’s music phone that does everything right. I am not easily moved by OEM’s trying to shove their products to every user, but the Boom J8 is just in a league of its own. Infact, if you have the Boom J7, you might feel really disappointed because Tecno has pushed the Boom J8 to a point where you have no option than to purchase it. Tecno is not only the undisputed King of the hottest smartphones in Nigeria, but has built its reputation for having the greatest budget-friendly super-high-end smartphone in the market. Say hello to the Tecno Phantom 5. The Boom J8 is not just an upgrade for the sake of incremental glory; it is the very definition of a mature product. The biggest talking point is that Tecno really listened to its users for the first time in their existence. Gone are the days where companies dictate what users should have. Now, users have the power! They have guts to demand what they need; they have the liberty to request a feature knowing that it would be prioritized by the company. No mobile company wants to end like BlackBerry, a company which once controlled 34% of the global smartphone market-share but now at the brink of extinction as their current market-share accounts for only 0.9%. We are not known to hype smartphones unnecessarily. At the time when Tecno was dumping their down-market products in Nigeria, we were amongst the few that condemned it; we equally destroyed Yezz Mobile on this blog when they wanted to rip-off Nigerians. It’s glad to know that Yezz Mobile was dead on Arrival. Our readers have equally expressed frustration with InnJoo products and we are looking at the report. Never again will Nigerians be subject to systematic fraud by corporations bringing shovewares to Nigeria. If the Standard Organisation of Nigeria won’t do their job, we’d do our little to prevent users from falling victims of their manipulations. Am I over-hyping the Tecno Boom J8? No I am not, I am simply saying you should be hyped by the smartphone because it’s the real deal. Tecno nailed this one! Take a chill pill and wait for our review. We will tear down this baby. http://www.techrez.com/hey-tecno-no-need-talk-boom-j8-already-buying/ |

enoch273:It's not fair to hate on bloggers. There are a couple of design element we took from users and pushed to Tecno, which they implemented on the Boom J8. You should rather appreciate us than condemn us. Specifically, we gave Infinix a 7-page report on the Zero 3 to work with the Zero 4 so Nigerians could always get the best value for money. These things take mental energy and resources. Don't just sit there and become an expert in condeming tech bloggers who are here for all of us. |

When Tecno launched the premium Phantom 5, the internet literally caught fire with several people denouncing the smartphone because of its price tag. Six months into the launch of Tecno Phantom 5, the smartphone proved itself to be a solid player in the upper rage smartphone by becoming a massive success. In one of our infamous articles where we highlighted the strengths of the device, we got bashed but we have been vindicated because the smartphone proved to be rock solid. We are yet to see anyone genuinely complain about the device. Now, Tecno is working on another smartphone and it is #TheNextBigThing after the Phantom 5. There are a lot of things that should really make you hyped for the upcoming smartphone. TechRez can exclusively reveal that the ultra new HiOS is fast, fluid and streamlined to get the most out of the smartphone. What’s up for the new HiOS? Lets leave a tip of the iceberg so you know what you can expect; Memory Clean Up Function This will basically free up memory on your smartphone so it will always be fast like the first time you turned on the device. Smart Phone Manager. (Hi Manager) The new functionality will let you manage your smartphone in ways you never imagined. On the design aspect, Tecno actually did listen to its fans and reviewers. There have made a couple of changes to the upcoming smartphone that should make it a super hit like all Tecno smartphone performs in terms of sales. The new smartphone is really love at first sight, it comes with a design language that looks like the iPhone 6S Plus, you would cherish the device because it is the definition of total value for money. =+ http://www.techrez.com/tecno-teases-new-smartphone-new-ui/ 1 Like 1 Share |
