Good day Nairalanders, the time I started writing this is 3:22am, whether am a popular NLder or not doesn't matter, but I would like to Conceal my identity. These would be a bit long, because I would want to explain all what is happening and has been happening to me concerning my education.

I am from the eastern part of Nigeria, and school somewhere in the south, part of the top 10 universities in Nigeria.
Back in my, Primary and Junior secondary school, I was extremely brilliant, always part of first 3, a lot of times I was 1st in class and best overall. Even my junior waec, I was so happy, people were happy for me.

The problem started in my secondary school, I noticed I started dropping, my 2nd term in SS1, I was 21/23 in class, same school, same class mates.
I thought maybe I had started playing to much, so I stopped all what I figured out could be the problem, yet there was no solution, my parents got me private teachers for my core subjects. Once they are with me, I would understand what they teach me, when they leave, I don't slack, I continue reading and reading, when exam comes, it would seem like I wasn't the one who read. A day before the exam, it would be fresh in my head and when I even write the exam, my mind would be like "you have killed it"
My parents would ask how it was, my reply would be: "yes, it was perfect, expecting the perfect result".

When I see my result, I would as usual fail virtually everything.
Still, I managed to go/forge ahead, I was able to pass my WASSCE in one sitting, how I did that I don't know, not that I passed outstandingly, I only had 'credit' in all the subject I was expect to have grade 'C'.

Then the hustle for Jamb came, let it be known that I wrote jamb 5 times, and the 5th time was when I got admitted to my school of choice.


Currently in my 200level, we resumed a new session about 2months ago. Now to what caused dis write up.

My first semester of 100level result: C, F, A, D, D.

A terrible result for someone in 100level, yes, I know. I felt too relaxed first semester, played a lot.
I determined that 2nd semester would be better, not that I was expecting all A's but I didn't want any F.
So my whole 2nd semester was reading all through, I read to the extent that I started feeling sure I should have A's in at least 3 out of 6 courses.

But when the result came in, it was worse than my first semester without me playing or getting distracted,
My 2nd semester of 100level result: C, F, C, E, C,F

And now 200level has kicked off, but something is happening to me.

I don't think I can survive this anymore,
My parents don't have money, my dad is struggling to send us to school.
None of my siblings work,
I have been contemplating different means of ending my life,
I move about with shame, I don't sleep anymore, I can't get my head straight, I would stay awake all night crying and praying for a change in my academic life.

I have done all what I think I can humanly do, hence why the thought of taking my life,
I know I can't create a life, but of what use is one that doesn't seem to make people happy?
But then, I decided to come on here, to ask if there is something else in reading I am not doing apart from, reading.... I have applied all the reading techniques applicable, jot while reading, revise, ask myself questions, and all. But still after exam, I don't seem to have that desired result, I have prayed countless times.

By my side is a chemical I got when I discovered I had 2f's. Education, they say is the best legacy. But in my case it isn't sure if it would be, I am a business oriented person, but no money to even establish myself, so that's not an option, please Nairalanders, I don't wish to Take my life, please is there anything you can suggest to me other than suicide and constant reading and prayers. I am 22years of age.

Guy, are u talking based on assumptions or facts? Let me remind u this is 2015 and not 2003. Pls reply me with facts and tell me how Sony is making money. They even considered selling their mobile phone industry, they have shut then their computer company and they are losing money even on TVs. Check the pictures below.

You see what we are talking about. Rewind it to back in the the days when its all Sony. Sony bravia TVs, Sony sound systems. They just need to up their games. Nobody hates them really and it would be bad if Sony sinks. I also think Japan should help them more.

Most Japanese electronics are dying, South Korea and Chinese have taken the market from them. Japanese Government should do something pretty fast else the only major electronics company would sink right before their eyes

Regarding the Sony thingy. I fear for them cos it's really a bad thing for tech in a company like Sony sinks. It's a tech company we all gree up with but based on facts it's sinking faster than anything. @techrez, you spoke well but their only profitable business isn't the playstation as it's strongest competitor is giving it a mad ride, X Box by Microsoft.

They have the money, fans to make more sales than playstation. If Sony doesn't up its game in the mobile sector, I'm afraid they are as good as dead. They have maximum of 2 years to do that and the hit from the Chinese companies might make it shorter.

Their only profitable business at the moment is the sensor. They newly acquired Toshiba imaging sensor business killing them and strengthening themselves. It's ass great move but they have to look as other sectors to survive.

Regarding the Motorola and Google deal. The latter main purpose of acquiring Motorola wasn't really to be in charge of hardware and software combo but basically cos of its patents. Motorola is rated highest with craziest patents, I think BB is placed second. Google didn't even include the patents as part of the deal. Smart ass.

All in all, nobody in its rightful mind would wish Sony to sink but they caused their downfall themselves. Same shit HTC is facing currently.

First! Motorola under Google was very successful! Yes an infact that's why it was sold to lenovo... Just as greenhulk explained. If google makes it own phones it would sell more phones than most companies, this was what was happening with Motorola so Samsung complained about it and google also complained samsung customisation to android os on its phones where to heavy. So the signed a deal for samsung to reduce its customisation while google sell of Motorola.


And sony is not sinking! Do you have an idea of what the company sony is? They are much much bigger than you think! If the sell half of their divisions, the would still be bigger than all the company in nigeria put together. Please!

Chilax bro. I don't use Sony, not in support of Sony either as I know for sure they are not making money from xperia phones, so looks like they don't give a f**k. My comment was based on why apple sells more iPhone than any other phones. Reason being they make their software and their phones without giving out license. If Google decide to do the same then they will sell more Google phones than iphones.

Because apple makes their software and their phones. They don't license their software to anybody, they make their phones, make the software and sell their phones. So they make all the profit. Android on the other hand is made by Google but they license it to everybody. So Samsung, HTC ,LG, tecno, Sony, infinix, xiaomi, etc all share the same OS, hence they share the sales. Just imagine if Google decide not to release their software. If they had decided to make their phones and sell only nexus devices, I can assure u it will sell more than iPhones because their are far more android users than ios.

Hello, u probably bought the ''wrong'' type of Sony Xperia. I have been using my Sony Xperia c2305 for more than 2 yrs now and I can say it has dropped from my hand countless times, and it still looks good as new.
@ op, the question you a should be asking is ''does Sony Care about you??''
I have friends that use the almighty samsung and there phones can't even stand my old Xperia battery wise, function wise, durability wise, in short, the list is countless.
My advice is if you buying a Sony Xperia phone, pls, buy it new.

They don't have huge market in Africa, Sony is a top brand in Europe and some Asian countries. Honestly they don't give a fucck about Nigeria market.

to be honest I blame reviewers u always praise apple and criticize other smartphone makers like no tomorrow.I remember when the iPhone 6 came out a review on a site stated that the 300ppi(720p) was sharp enough that 1080p screen was absolutely unnecessary,this on a 600-800$+ phone and then when the xperia z3 compact and galaxy alpha came out with the same resolution and sharpness of the iphones they were all absolutely murdered for not having 1080p screens despite only costing 400-500$(yea between 100-400$ cheaper than an iPhone) fortunately for Samsung they have enough money to was on marketing their products but Sony do not have such luck

you are right but I still think Blackberry and Nokia phones were overpriced simply because they had no strong competition back then. Imagine a Nokia C4 (java phone) selling at 21k or BB Bold 5 being sold for over 80k. I remember when a fairly used Curve 3 cost 24k. Yes they lacked innovations but their products were too expensive. Right now people have gotten wiser, the great Infinix Hot 2 is selling cos it's cheap. Everybody needs value for money products. If the Hot 2 was an Xperia phone, it would have cost 35k. This is not America where the Iphones are leading in market share despite it being expensive. Naira and Dollar aren't equal. Nigerians and Americans don't have same mentality too.

same thing that brought about the downfall of Blackberry and Nokia....OVERPRICING! Samsung phones are overpriced too, they're just selling for the sake of their brand name. And as for Apple, they have the least market share in Nigeria cos their phones are too expensive.

Bottom line: Sony phones are too expensive. Let them make a good mid range phone.
