Phones / We Spotted The First Live Images Of Infinix Hot 3 by TechRez(m): 9:34am On Mar 04, 2016
There are no official specifications yet, but a close look at the leaked images does show a 5-inch device. Infinix won’t be giving the Hot 3 a 5.5-inch treatment.

Hot 3 is unlikely going to be another Android One device, but we expect it to be significantly more powerful than the Hot 2. The company is over-hyping the front-facing camera so it’s natural to expect something big from that technical aspect.

This is all we know for now, once we have more information we will let you know. So stay tuned.

Phones / Tecno Launches New Community To Provide Real Time Support & More by TechRez(m): 10:14am On Mar 02, 2016
The community which is named Tecno Spot is designed to create an ecosystem where Tecno fans can have first hand information about their smartphones.

The platform is fluid with a couple of options to get you started as a member and rise through the ranks to earn reputation that will ultimately pay off in future.

Basically, Tecno Spot will let users have real time support. Issues relating to smartphones would be self-resolved by reading the technical support threads. That means fewer calls and visits to Carlcare Service center – Tecno’s dedicated support center.

TechRez can independently confirm that Carlcare support staff will always be online at the Tecno community to provide technical assistance relating to your devices. Users will also have the capacity to share their knowledge on the community. Now, that is great!

In the last two years, Tecno has humbled itself to get feedback from users. This wasn’t the case in the past and users had to suffer for sins they did not commit in cases where they were unable to resolve challenges associated with their smartphones.

Phones / Exposed! Why Stakeholders Want Sale Of 700mhz Spectrum To MTN Reversed by TechRez(m): 5:34pm On Feb 19, 2016
Stakeholders in the nation’s telecom industry have described the recent sale of 700MHz spectrum by the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to MTN Nigeria as illegal and have called for its outright cancellation.

According to the stakeholders who are made up of staff of other major telecom companies and investors in the telecoms industry, the NBC has neither legal nor statutory right to make such sale, a mandate they said belong only to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

They allege that MTN Nigeria used underhand means to get the NBC to approve the sale of the 700MHz spectrum to them under controversial and non-transparent circumstances which did not follow due process and does not comply with the Communication’s Act 2003 as well as the Procurement Act 2007 both of which states that such assets should be sold through a competitive bidding process.

Stakeholders argue that MTN got the spectrum under the guise of a digital television transmission (DTT) licence when the real intention was to use it for their broadband services; clearly a deceptive means to bypass the legitimate process of bidding and access the spectrum before the agreed date to the detriment of other telecoms operators.

Reacting to the on-going controversy, Mr Uche Chukwukere, a Lagos based telecom investor called for the cancellation of the 700MHz spectrum sale to MTN by the NBC. “The licence should be withdrawn. In fact, the officials of NBC who approved the sale should all be arrested because NBC has no right to assign spectrum to a telecommunications company. That is the job of the NCC,” he stated.

As the wheels of Justice turns against N34 billion MTN-NBC illegal deal

Finally, I am delighted that the anti- corruption wind finally blew away Emeka Mba, former DG of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) who was shown the exit as President Buhari’s broom strives to cleanse our system.

This brings me to this question, was the NBC sale of the 700MHz spectrum licence to MTN legal and transparent? The sale of the licence was one of the most...

Just a teaser for now... Anyways, I don't expect anything more than a 5.2inches display... Anything above that sucks... It should come with Android 6.0 marshmallow out of the box which should be powered by an octa-core processor... Clock speed should be @least 1.8GHz smiley that will be okay for android gaming... Who still wants to use a 2GB RAM device? :-p they should better think of coupling the device with a 3GB RAM component.. They can still stick wif MediaTek chipset if they want... MT6753 chipset tech is cool tho cheesy

I think they will go with a 5.5 inch display. It's going to be a budget smartphone, so we can't expect an over-the-board specs.

The phone will come with usual 1gb,2gb,3gb Ram but infinix will never release 3gb Ram here in nigeria example is Hot 2
it came with 1,2,3gb ram even with 4g lte but only release 1gb & 2 gb ram with 3g to us.

Hope thing change sha.

Chipset
When are they going to release phone with snapdragon
someone suggested MT6753
but i will say MTK Helio or snapdragon 615

Kudos to them sha they fought their way up,I remembered when their devices was tag ''Hot plate" By T goons but came back strong. grin grin grin

Price
Should affordable cool

IMO

I doubt the guys will ever use Snapdragon chip. Nigerians won't even buy when they realize they can't tweet the IMEI.

When price of data falls considerably, I think we would be ready to make the transition.

Can I change the IMEI of Xiaomi MI4 ? These were the most frequent questions I got on my mail box after we did the the Xiaomi mi4 review. So it safe to say the kind of chip forms a buyer's mindset in Nigeria.

Infinix Hot was a massive success, it was complimented by the most successful Hot 2 smartphone which saw a partnership with Google that eventually made it the first and only Android One smartphone in Africa. It reportedly sold over 500k units, surpassing all the “big players” in terms of sales volume.

The teaser slang for the Hot 3 is “Selfie with soft flash makes life colorful”, meaning the next Hot 3 smartphone could come with a revamped front-facing camera for taking that perfect selfie.

We expect to get more details about the upcoming smartphone in the coming days and we will share with you once we have them.

What are things you are looking out for on the upcoming Infinix Hot 3?

These are the Association of migrant party followers. They came to Oshiomhole with their " share the money" mentality but Oshiomhole did not share the money, hence they are frustrated and decided to return to their root to see how they can unseat his party. Oshiomhole has been raise the internally generated revenue of the state accruing to the govt, which before him, individuals were collecting and sharing with Lucky. That's what the big politicians are eyeing.
If you look closely, its all blackmail they are resorting to in order to get sympathy from people.
An average edo youth is lazy, looking for enjoyment where he has not worked.
All the huge remittances from the hrad-working Edos in diaspora, much of it is spent foolishly by our relatives in Benin. They are always looking for where the next enjoyment is coming from.
Most of are bandwagon followers, no deep analytical thing. They are easily swayed about by sentimental waves. I know my people, I was born and educated in Benin, until I reached Lagos my eye and mind opened and I understood the problem of my people.

If you are sharing your family experiences here, then there is no problem. I am proudly bini and my family is not lazy.. You don't go online talking on issues you have little or no knowledge on.

The so-called Edo government is the 3Rd most indebted state in Nigeria with its debt profile rating over 200 billion naira and you come here sprewing ill-thoughts comments.

Let me be clear that I don't have time to waste my intellectual energy on APC or PDP. Both parties and Indeed all political parties in Nigeria and their members have no clear-cut political ideologies. Soon, the pro-active youth, of course not your likes with rise up and kick start a revolution that will expunge the curse from the black race.

I didn't need to go to Lagos or change my name to another tribe, I made my life useful and built my blog to where it is today, all from Benin. When companies from Lagos contact me and I tell then we are in Benin, they are always shocked and we love it.. Because at some point it shows one can actually make his life useful where ever he is if he has got the will and tenacity. I have seen orphans who are millionaires, life is not luck. life is all about choices which we exclusive make and affect us in future, good or bad.

The next time you try to make irresponsible statements against a tribe, know that it's wrong to be be-clouded by your own family experiences to make a general claim that's right in your perception but wrong in reality. Please take a seat!

The Consumer Electronic Show, CES, 2016 edition is over, but we can’t forget in a hurry some of the amazing tech “show-off” from the big boys of Tech.

Tecno was at the event in Las Vegas, the mobile vendor wasn’t there as a spectator, but wowed guys with its next-generation tablet which runs on the powerful Remix OS 2.0.

Never heard of Remix OS? Let’s push this a bit further..

Tecno-Remix OS Show Strategic Partnerships In C 2016

For the most part in any CES exhibition, the tech journalists and celebrity analysts are in frenzymood for the news worthy “toys” from show frequents and big brands like SONY, Apple, SAMSUNG, Amazon, LG, Ehang, etc. It is plain truth that such contents get the media houses the hits they want on newspapers and online bulletins.

However, in recent times we have seen innovative software startups steal the show; case in point JideTechnology, which was founded by 3 ex-Google senior software engineers to pioneer productive computing on Android, through the Remix OS 2.0. Android, which runs on 90% of mobile devices in Africa, is ideal for consuming content but has limitations on productivity.

For users who want to open and run their video apps, instant messaging apps, social media accounts, word processing tools and web browsers all at the same time, Remix OS empowers you to seamlessly do this. You can also access the entire ecosystem of 1.6 million Android apps and use them like you use your laptop, with keyboard and trackpad input. The Jide team has clearly pushed the boundaries of Android to the next level.

Phones / We Spotted Gionee W909 On Geekbench, Comes With 4GB RAM & More by TechRez(m): 9:20am On Jan 13, 2016
The W909 looks like it's going to be Gionee's high-end smartphone for 2016. The Chinese company had a quiet 2015 with no smartphone that that got everyone talking.

In China, its market-share has seen a dip, while in Nigeria where it was having a direct competition with Tecno, the biggest smartphone maker in the region; it has also fallen under the hammer as new smartphone manufacturers make instant impact with their budget-smartphones.

Gionee’s last straw appears to be the Marathon M5 that came with a gigantic battery capacity. However, Gionee needs to be more radical and launch some serious devices to get back in the spot-light.

Question: Why Is Gionee Struggling In Nigeria?

It looks like they are aware, lol… We spotted the Gionee W909 (or whatever it will be called) on Geekbench, it has some serious specs that puts it in the upper-midrange class.

Here is an image showing the benckmarking of the upcoming smartphone.

The smartphone, currently unannounced has some listing on Geekbench that's worth talking about.

From the listing, the upcoming smartphone will feature MediaTek Helio P10 chip with 2GHz Cortex A53 CPU and Mali-T860 GPU. The device is also said to have 4GB RAM running on Andorid 5.1 Lollipop.

I expect a couple of changes, most times the listing on Geekbench just gives a clue of what to expect, not too varying from the actual specs. I think the Gionee W909 would easily feature Android 6.0 Marshmallow if the launch date is in the coming months.

Phones / What To Watch Out For In Nigerian Smartphone Market In 2016 by TechRez(m): 7:49pm On Jan 02, 2016
Goodbye 2015! Hello 2016! That’s the feeling right now from smartphone enthusiasts. smiley

Some smartphone manufacturers dropped our jaw in 2015 while others kept doing things that annoy users. Imagine Yezz Mobile pushing a 4GB ROM smartphone to Nigeria, what an insult!

Alright, that enough. lol… Let’s move on. The year 2015 was the biggest smartphone year in Nigeria, bigger than the combination of 2013 and 2014 put together. We had so many industry players fighting for space, and at the end, users were at the better end. Competition really does provoke quality and 2015 proved that.

WE THOUGHT WE COULD HOLD INNJOO TO THEIR WORDS, OF COURSE THEY DIDN’T KEEP THEIR PROMISE.
IN MAY 2015, INNJOO WENT AHEAD AND RELEASED THE INNJOO MAX, A 1GB RAM PHONE

So what can we expect in 2016 in the mobile community?

Sorry guys, can't post all the stuff. If someone can assist, that'd be great wink
Phones / Tecno Vs Infinix: Who Had The Better 2015? by TechRez(m): 1:47pm On Jan 01, 2016
The year 2015 was a bang for Nigerians, the mobile market witnessed its biggest growth and expectations were simply on the edge.

Two industry movers, Tecno and Infinix got dirty in their desire to lock down the smartphone market in Nigeria. But did any of them succeed?

Infinix

The Infinix brand which is just over three years old introduced several range of smartphones that addressed core issues affecting smartphone users in Nigeria.

Infinix smartphones are one of the most popular budget smartphones available in Nigeria, the company reportedly sold over 500,000 units of its smartphones in 2015. Thanks to Infinix Hot 2, Nigeria’s first Android One phone which was an instant success.

infinix-note-2-specsOne of the ways Infinix manages to maintain a low price tag on its smartphones is by eliminating the middle man, it’s a mobile strategy that has been working like a charm for them. This way, prices which should normally go up by about 30% are kept at a sweet spot. They know how Nigerians can react when it comes to pricing. Lol

Infinix has their shortcomings however; their smartphones are not readily available weeks after it is launched into the market. At the time its becomes commercially available, a couple of guys who were really anxious about the smartphone would have gotten a watered-down effect.

Tecno

Tecno no doubt had its biggest and best year in 2015. I hope they can replicate it in 2016, they did almost everything right – restructuring their mobile strategy by creating several range of smartphones that appeal to specific kind of smartphone users.

The mobile strategy that’s working started with the Tecno Boom J7, a smartphones targeted at music-centric lovers; the Camon C8 caters for camera lovers while the prestigious and premium Phantom 5 was specifically built for smartphone users who want to stand out from the crowd in style.

They had an onslaught on the low-end smartphone market and monopolized the mid-range line of smartphones in Nigeria. There was a need for transition into premium smartphones that birthed the Phantom 5.

Tecno reportedly overtook Samsung to become the biggest smartphone maker in Africa. Statistics like this shows that Tecno isn’t going anywhere, not anytime soon.
