PoliticsUPDATE: We Found Stockpiles Of Dollars, Not Arms In Akwa Ibom Govt. House by TechWalker007(op): 7:30am On Sep 05, 2015
A top official of the State Security Service familiar with the SSS’ raid of the Akwa Ibom Government House has told PREMIUM TIMESn the Service found no arms and ammunition in the complex, but stumbled on “shocking stockpiles of U.S. dollars”.
The State Security Service (SSS) had on Thursday raided the Hilltop Mansion in a joint operation carried out by operatives from the agency’s headquarters in Abuja and a detachment from the Akwa Ibom State Command of the Service.
Some operatives had earlier told this newspaper they found arms and ammunition in one of the rooms in the complex.
But another top official of the Service said Friday night the claim by his colleagues was an exaggeration. He requested not to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the matter.
“Our men went there expecting weaponry but we didn’t find arms,” he said. “Instead, we stumbled on a room filled with stockpiles of dollars.”
The official said the SSS team however left the dollars untouched for fear of the “political backlash that might result if we evacuate it. They had no instruction to evacuate it”.
One of our sources had earlier said the operatives initially wanted to evacuate the dollar notes but received instructions from their superiors in Abuja to let the notes be.
The secret police was said to have stormed the Hilltop Mansion based on security reports that suggested arms and ammunition were stored in a room there.
After ransacking the entire residence of the governor, which is yet to be occupied by the serving Governor, Udom Emmanuel, the operatives moved to guest houses and the presidential lodge, said to be currently in use by ex-Governor Godswill Akpabio.
It was in one of the guest houses within the expansive complex, the source said, that the dollars were found locked up in a room.
The SSS could not be immediately reached to officially comment on the operation. The agency does not have a known spokesperson that could be reached for comments.
And its Director General, Lawal Daura, did not answer or return multiple calls to his telephone.
The raid has attracted harsh reactions from the leadership of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The Acting Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, while hosting Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, in his office Friday, described the raid as a civilian coup d’état.
Mr. Secondus said the action is part of the strategy of the ruling All Progressives Congress, and the Muhammadu Buhari-led government to forcefully take some states won by the opposition PDP.
On his part, the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, demanded immediate sack of the Director General of the SSS, Lawal Daura, who he accused of being behind the operation.

President Buhari Orders Closure Of Aso Rock Villa Church

Buhari has moved against Christian religious activities within the precincts of the Aso Rock presidential villa, a source familiar with the matter has disclosed to The Trent.

The Aso Rock Villa Chapel serves as the official church of Aso Rock where Christian activities inside the presidential villa are conducted.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to The Trent on Thursday, September 3, 2015 on condition of anonymity, heavily armed men stormed the Aso Rock Chapel on Sunday, August 30, 2015 denying worshippers access to the church.

“Normally, services begin by 7am at the church but when we got there, we met armed security men who said we cannot enter. They said they were acting on orders from above. We waited outside till a few minutes past 8am before they allowed us to enter,” the source disclosed.

A visibly embarrassed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who worships at the Villa Church, arrived the Chapel and could be seen managing to conceal a worried expression over the incident.

When our reporter contacted Presidential Spokesman Garba Shehu to confirm the development, he claimed he was not aware of the incident. “What you are telling me is news to me. I am not aware of this issue. There is a lot we are dealing with and I hope you are aware the church was handed over to Vice President Osinbajo. So please call Prince Laolu Akande, his spokesman to confirm this issue”, he said.

Further investigations by The Trent have revealed that Sunday’s move was the second in a series of brazen attempts to shut down Christian activities in the Villa.

Less than two months ago, the Children’s Church of the Villa Chapel where the wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Oludolapo Osinbajo worships with the children was closed down on orders from above. According to our source, “security concerns were given as reasons for the closure of the Children’s Church.”

Attempts by this newspaper to reach Vice-Presidential spokesman Laolu Akande failed as his phone lines were unreachable at the time of filing in this report.

I have been defending our soldiers when some of you ridiculed them.
For you it was about Jonathan must not win election so even the military must not win the war so you have something to use against him.
Just so you know, #NeverAgain was a success until Buhari came into power. Not a single village was under the control of Boko Haram and they were on the run in the vast Sambisa forest and Mandala Hills.
Today, they attack villages freely and even dared to attack the convoy of COAS.
Maybe you should read the Aljazeera article.
Even under Buhari, I want our military to win the war but what has been happening since Buhari is propaganda and mere statements.
Boko Haram have resurfaced and even stronger under his watch.

And you also mean the troops under GEJ showed every photo of their encounters? By the way, when was the last time you heard that military barracks were attacked and taken over?
This one is a lost cause.
You do not know the military decimated Boko Haram just before Buhari came into power and no village or town was in their control but since Buhari came they overran several villages and towns again.
They were pursued to Sambisa and was getting decimated. Buhari himself was against the decimation in Sambisa.
Some of you are very ignorant though.
We're not all gullible.

Governor Ambode Inherits Huge Debts, Revokes Sale Of State Property To Fashola’s Aides, Friends

https://i61.tinypic.com/2ik7hoh.png

Capitalng is reporting that few weeks after Governor Akinwunmi Ambode deadweight offices and sacked the various heads of agencies created by his predecessor, Tunde Fashola, Governor Ambode has revoked all Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) of all the properties that were sold by Fashola’s administration..

Sources within the incumbent administration revealed that the revocation became necessary because the properties were sold to aides, Politicians and friends of the former governor at ridiculous prices.

In the wake of the revocation, the affected parties trooped to the residence of two-time governor of Lagos state and Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to complain; among other things, they pleaded with Tinubu to come to their rescue and urge governor Ambode to cancel the revocation but Tinubu told them he is not the governor of Lagos State and that he has neither the power or the influence to force Ambode to return the controversially acquired properties to them.

Besides selling state property to private individuals and cronies, former Governor Fashola allegedly incurred debts amounting to N800 billion thus casting the state in dire straits, financially and economically.

Findings by theCapitalng revealed that, as part of Governor Ambode’s drive to rescue the state from enormous debt mess foisted upon it by his predecessor, the state government recently moved to retrieve exotic cars, Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) and other acquisitions illicitly appropriated.
