Bostin:
Hello guys, I will like to make contacts of Nairalanders in Canada here. I recently applied for tourism visa to Canada but still waiting for TRV to come out, l need someone that can help with cheap accommodation and any menial job for just 3months stay in Canada.
Who will employ you on a visitors visa in Canada?

They will ask him to exit the embassy within 1 minute of hearing his insulting story. I even noticed his nonsense story and called him out on it, and I'm not even trained to catch nonsense stories like the people at the embassy. You are giving him false hope. Lastly not everyone can get a visa only a selective few. unfortunately he'll most likely never end up in canada realistically.
Well it will be fun to have you eat your words if he gets a visit visa to Canada.

Why are you so hard on the guy anyway?

Thank you so much for your insight...... Please advice which other way I can apply for visiting visa I appreciate your response.
You have to be convincing regarding the exam you want to go write. Convince yourself its key to improving yourself. Then you must convince the VO through the documents you must file.

Anyone can get a visa as long as you show enough proof of genuine intention to return after you have concluded your purpose for visiting and also, ability to incur cost.

NB: To work in Canada, you need a work visa.
Also, VOs are trained to identify people with ulterior intentions.

If you get a visit visa, don't violate the terms. Instead with careful planning, and time....you might end up getting PR. Remember, a larger % of Canadians today are immigrants who have naturalized. So, just observe the rules, plan and then go for it.

There is no rule that says applications must be made to 1 school per time. If you can afford it, apply to 4 - 5 schools per time. It increases hope, allows for better permutations and reduces tension. You only have a few $CAD to loose.

I would do dt again next week. Did he ever told u dt ur file ws under review during ur previous contacts? Dese guys shld let us knw our fate on tym so as to knw if to apply sumwhere else cos i can nt jst b dishing out $100CAD like dt

While you're quite right, it depends on the program you're going for. With early application, and a proper research about the school requirements, nothing stops you from applying to just one school.

Impossibility is only in one's mind.

PS. I plan to apply to just one school.
Ok bro.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by tee12345(m): 7:47am On Jan 24, 2015
Next time apply to a minimum of 5 separate schools. That way your chances to secure admission is raised by 5.

don't put all your hopes on 1 school.

Shyee:
yes, thank God.
I e-mailed my departmental secretary, Nicole Parisi. He replied that my application is now closed. He added, I met the required minimum but my application was not competitive enough. smiley

Nice one on your spouse.

jojcanada:
Thanks I found a place today. A nice condo in york

Update on spouse. He applied for visit visa last week Monday and got it today.

When he gets here we'll apply for change of circumstances or whatever that application is. It takes only a few weeks with all medical and police clearance done upfront. Will provide update as we go along.

For those who have pending applications. I can now also confirm vo's have started working. Got a call from CIC, Lagos about my pending application for Spouse Open Work Permit and TRV for my 2 kids. I am not applying for Study Permit like most of you guys.

I was asked to mail evidence of medicals asap.

I applied November 20th. Online. Wifey is schooling since September last year.

Timeline may be helpful. If not, just ignore.

Best of Luck folks.

If you are a recent graduate with time between your graduation and nysc call up less than 4 - 6 months, you are not going to be expected to have financial asset. So your sponsors account should be FAT and it must be stated in his/her letter of sponsorship that the money is dedicated to your studies and stay in Canada.

if your not a recent graduate, its a challenge. They will be interested in what you have been doing since.

Employment prospect will be based on what you studied in Naija, what you want to study in Canada when compared to Canada's work needs. Trust me, they know you won't come back to reside here after you have finished studying. If you are not doing the sciences, health, engineering, finances, communications then your results must be very good in whatever course you have read.

Only present documents that wont result in more issues against you. Docs must represent what you actually did in the past. Our window for manipulating the VO is confined to the Truth about who we are and what we have done. A letter from the company introducing you as having worked with them between x - y would be enough. However it may state they are willing to engage you should you graduate from your intended program. Don't back date any thing please.

tnuola:
Tee12345

Noted, how then do I tackle limited employment prospects, current employment situation, personal assests and financial status?

Here's what Im thinking of doing, let me know if it makes any sense, I'll go to where I used to work, ask for an employment letter back dated to when I started work as a trainee in Jan 2013, a study leave letter stating that they will be willing to employ me fully n all after my studies, though my payslips from when I used to work wouldn't be of any use Cuz theyre old , I'm sure that can be fixed somehow.

Does this make sense? I'd also like to know if one can submit payslips without soa.. I've seen someone do that before, dnt really rem
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by tee12345(m): 9:57am On Jan 17, 2015
They have a picture of who you are already based on your last app. So you cant deviate from what you have already stated.

However you may explain further that your brief period with that company was because you were a fresh graduate awaiting NYSC call up. Let that company issue a letter stating you worked with them primarily to familiarize yourself with A WORK ENVIRONMENT. An experience you now find valuable as you carry out your youth service since its work related. A letter from where you carry out your nysc service is in order too.

also, you should ensure your letter of sponsorship states why the person is sponsoring you. If its a family member, why is that person sponsoring you? It should go beyond he is my Dad, Mum, Uncle, Brother etc. A sample reason is - My brother has decided to sponsor me because it has always being his ambition to ensure that i acquire 1st class education so that i can be an example in my Village - Ijebu Ode that women can attain success and be exemplary to other young girls. Think up an emotional reason. Canadians have great respect when it comes to FEMALES and women empowerment. You may wish to take advantage of that softness.

I hope you find this useful.

tnuola:
The first paragraph did upset me, it came off as a snide remark but noted.
What's your suggestion? To my post above since you have faint idea of how they work
I can get whatever letter I want from where I worked as a trainee, Cuz I was good while I was there.
So do I request for an employment letter, study leave letter and also payslips? Or have my elder brother employ me and get all that for me.

Note: I'm currently on my NYSC, that's what I'm up to and I don't intending stating it in my app, it is in no way related to what I want to study.

Thanks
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by tee12345(m): 8:56am On Jan 17, 2015
sorry if the 1st paragraph upset you. No harm meant.

Just take the second paragraph and work with that. I have a faint idea of how Canadians reason and trust me, its far from how we reason. One thing i do know is if your docs speak visa approval, they will issue it.

if this upsets you also, sorry in advance.

tnuola:
I don't see what idea he brought up tho? I know nasty when I see it.
Thanks
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by tee12345(m): 6:12am On Jan 17, 2015
what do you mean by you work as a trainee? You work for free? Nobody does that.

how long will you be working as a trainee? After that, will you become a manager in the company or what key role will you playing?

explain this to the vo.

tnuola:
Hello,
Would it look or seem funny if my brother decides to employ me, so I'll get employment letter , study leave letter and payslips from him.
Starting from now, I'll ask him to deposit certain amount of money in my account, every month as the salary so I can submit an Soa. ( trying to tackle personal assets, current employment situation, limited prospects and length of proposed stay)

OR

Do I get all these from the company where I work as a trainee , i.e employment letter, study leave letter and payslips but No Soa ? I can submit payslips without SOA right?

Note: I might not reapply anytime soon, so I want to take my time to do it well and get it right?
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tee12345(m): 6:00pm On Jan 16, 2015
Depends on how you want to view it really. Other nationals who reside in Nigeria and require a visa to travel to the USA are subject to similar situation.

Also, aren't those being processed for migrant visa interviewed under such situation?

lastly, i have personally seen environments in developed countries where people are interviewed in similar fashion eg Sevice Canada, Windsor ONT.

so, Na the visa you go collect make you focus on bro/sis.

best of luck.

Sure. Its couples traveling together for purposes they are well accustomed to. You for the conference, your wife accompanying you but she will be on vacation. Business and Pleasure...just be truthful and precise. I don't see a problem. Your ds160 form is very key. So fill it carefully.

I don't see any issues. You are going for a conference, you wife is going with you but on vacation. No problem with that. Have faith and go ahead.

gentleiphy:
Please i have been a silent follower of this thread and i will say i have gained a lot of things from questions asked here and your responses here..you are doing a great job.

I have a situation at hand.
i am billed to attend a global partnership summit in New York this July 2015 of an international NGO which i belong to and i want to apply for a visa for the summit but i want my wife to go along with me.she is not a member of the NGO and i just recently returned from a world congress meeting in Germany of this same NGO,i have good travel history of Europe-Germany,Holland,Turkey,Belgium and France (excluding UK),Dubai,South Africa,Ghana and my wife has been to Dubai and Ghana too.

what is the possibility of me and my spouse being issued visa as i am going for a business summit but wish to have her around for us to have extra days of vacation after the summit...what will be the best scenario..or do i forget about applying for both of us via the business summit and just apply for holiday while still using it to attend my business summit.Remember my aim of applying for visa is for the summit but wish to carry my wife along.

Please your urgent response is needed as i am about booking for interview date.
Thanks

TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tee12345(m): 9:06pm On Nov 21, 2014
Get a new passport with her marital name. When filling the visa app form, use marital name. In the form, indicate she has been refused before. If required to input previous names, fill in the maiden name.

when she is going for interview, let her attach the passport with the maiden name to the new passport. That way she is regarded as same person (am guessing the picture on the data page, dob, sex would be the same). If asked for marital status in form, input married.

this will clear doubts she is married without you accompanying her. Except other issues exist, there won't be a problem. The 2 docs COs must see are Passport and visa app form. Let those docs show she is married.

best of luck.

TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tee12345(m): 4:29pm On Nov 17, 2014
The funny thing is when i went in January, 2014, I told myself if I didn't get a visa, I would at least right the wrong i had done. Either way, I was not going to loose. I was called for 2 consecutive interviews. At the 2nd interview, the VO kept looking at my eyes while i told her what had happened in the past. Same VO who prior to interrogating me, refused a guy in similar situation as mine but who was still trying to explain why he made a mistake with his DOB in his Y2005 previous application.

If you are familiar with the USA embassy interview room, you know every tom, dick and harry can hear your conversation with the VO. They all heard when the VO said that immediately i had thumb printed, the details of my previous application in Y2004 came up in their system that I had been there before as a different person and that when they checked my current ds-160 form, they saw i had confessed to lying about my name, age and marital status in Y2004.

Please know that all this while, my heart was beating faster than that of a jet plane and i thought it would just fall out of my mouth. I had to force myself to stand upright and look confident at the same time. I however managed to SAY THE TRUTH again that yes, i had been ill advised back then and I will never lie to get a visa to any country. She made me narrate what had happened back then.

The next thing was 'so what doc do you have to show that you are who you say you her now?'. I gave her my birth certificate and marriage certificate. That was it oooo....she reached for the white paper and said enjoy your trip. That's the only document she looked at during the interview. She relied more on what i said, how i looked when saying it and probably concluded i am now repentant.

You see God is a BIG God. So say the truth....and trust in God.

yemyem2:
Thanks and God bless your home. I am very greatful for your advise. I will definitely stick to it. I was so naive back then. I didnt just know anything concerning travelling and visa process. If i had known...I would have sincerelly applied. Thanks once again. God bless

Take your kids to the embassy yourself with copy of visa for your husband, yourself and US data page of your baby. If they are minors, you will be questioned. I dont think you would have any problem.

Also, you can use your b1/b2 visa anytime within the 2 year period of validity. There is no condition that you must use it within 1st 6months.

bijouxcutey:
Hi everyone..hubby and I have a valid B1/B2 visa, but out 2 kids don't have yet, except out last baby the 3rd who is a citizen of the US. Please can the good people of this forum assist me on how to get the other of our two kids visit visa too? Do we take them to the embassy? Or can we just use a drop box? 2. My hubby has his valid visa, but hasn't travelled due to the nature of his job. We are looking forward to him traveling before the visa expires. I asked this cos someone said if not used before the first 6months of issue,it can count against someone at renewal. How true is this?

Hi all,
Please I need your candid advice. I applied for us visa in 2008 for a conference programme. Unfortunately, I was denied visa. That is not my problem; fellow intelligent nairalanders. The issue is someone actually assisted me to file the application here in nigeria. Most of my details were not real up to the date of my birth on the passport. Today,as am typing these lines; am with a new valid passport obtained last year with my correct info. And av travelled to few countries with it. Now, I intend to apply for us visa, how can I go about it considering my initial deceitful application procedure. May God bless u as u offer me brilliant advices. Thanks in anticipation.
1. DONT be in a rush to visit the USA regardless of how urgent.

2. Visit other countries in Africa, Middle East, Europe and any other visa issuing nation. This builds trust you wont run away.

3. If you can, take your spouse and kids along.

4. lastly and most important, when you want to try USA, Say the Truth when applying beginning with your application form. Let them know you had lied before in your 1st application and you will never do it again.

5. Trust God and pray Hard.

NB: I was in your situation pre-2014. I had misrepresented in 2004 also. I did the above and i got a visa 2014. It took me 10yrs. But i got it and have visited USA.

So, say the TRUTH. Don't wait to be caught because, they will catch you ooooo.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tee12345(m): 10:13am On Nov 07, 2014
Forget visiting the USA......MISREPRESENTATION is staring at you and you don't even know it. You need to build your travel history by visiting more countries then, after a long time, apply for a US visa but at that time - SAY THE TRUTH ONLY. The truth will set you free! I repeat, don't assume, suggest, explain or elucidate anything or situation.....Just say the truth about who you are at that time. Leave the rest to God.

Motol:
Hi All,

Pls I seek your candid and urgent advice as my appointment date is around the corner. This is my story:

I graduated from the university early 2008 but due to some issues in my department then, our NYSC exercise was delayed. It was during this long wait that a friend in the states decided
paying an agent here in Nigeria to help me facilitate a student visa application for a degree programme. So in Dec 2009,I applied but the agent coordinated the whole thing. He told me my chances are high if i apply for a degree programme since my first degree transcripts and other documents were still experiencing departmental issues. I think he requested for some few details then and  he later sent me the confirmation page plus other documents and was not so sure of whatever he filled for my profile online)
Unfortunately, I was denied due to some inconsistencies the VO noticed.I remembered he took a long time questioning me.The few conversation I remembered were:

VO: so how did you learn about the school and programme
Me: blabla(I think I mentioned one study center the agent mentioned to me but I noticed the VO wasn't impressed)
VO:So what have u been doing since  u finished your secondary school in 2003(that was after he asked and I told him I finished 2003)
Me: (the 22years old ignorant me started feeling uneasy) I have been working with my uncle's company
VO:what does your uncle do
Me:I told him
VO:so who is sponsoring you
Me:my uncle
VOsadHe raised his nose up a bit)your uncle or your your....(He din't finish the sentence then I think he later went through my e-20 on his computer)
You filled that your father is your sponsor right,so why are you claiming your uncle now
Me:yes sir, I said so because my uncle decided sponsoring me instead (the agent caused me this, he already filled online and printed out that my father is my sponsor meanwhile I was planning all along  to tender my uncle's statement of account because it was robust. My father wasnt aware of the student visa process but my plan was to get the visa first then tell him knowing he would support me since he knows our set was experiencing issues  with the school then.I knew my father won't say no to footing the whole trip if i end up getting the visa.so when the agent sent me my documents just two days to my appointment and I noticed my father in the sponsor section, I told him and he said I shouldn't worry that I could go ahead with my uncle's statement of account as they rarely check documents. I thought of still stating my father as my sponsor when the VO asked but I changed my mind cos I was scared he might ask to see the statement of acct next.
VO: am sorry maam, you are ineligible at this....(handed me a white paper which summaries have not been able to demonstrate adequate financial arrangements for the purpose I claimed or that my stated purpose isn't convincing kind of)

We were called up for our nysc two months after my visa refusal so I pushed away the us traveling plans.

Fast forward 2013, I was sent abroad by my current company for a training in the UK which was my first trip outside nigeria.I came back and went back again two months after for Xmas hols. So in march 2014, I decided to give the us visa a shot again(my cousin was getting married in April but it was her mum I filled as my contact in the US cos she was the one inviting me). Unfortunately,I was denied again but I think I was able to pick out some points for my rejection(my responses were very brief and not so explanatory.Think I did this again out of ignorance and heading to an advice that I should talk less). The conversation:

VO: so u work with sososo company
Me: yes
VO: how long have u been there
Me: told her
VO:have you travelled out of nigeria before
Me: yes twice, for a training last year October and a Xmas hols in December(my 6months UK visa expired a month before the us interview)
VO:where did you stay in the UK
Me: I stayed ...during my first trip and stayed...during my second trip
VO: so u are visiting Mrs....
Me: yes,my aunt( I guess I should have furthered explain that I wasn't just visiting her but also attending her daughter's wedding)
VO: what does she do in the us
Me: she is a pastor
VO: when last did you see her
Me: 2011 when she came around
VO: are you single or married(she stared at the engagement ring on my finger)
Me: single(I made the mistake of not going further to state I was engaged and was in fact getting married in some months time. I thought I had to mince my responses)
VO:how many siblings have u got
Me:3
VO:tell me about them briefly
Me: they are currently undergraduates at so so so
She typed shortly and handed me a blue paper which summarises my lack of strong ties.

I renewed my uk visa in july and got 2years. Also,I got married in august. Now this is my concern, I plan spending my annual leave for Christmas hol in the us but hubby can't come along as he just got this new job in September hence he isn't entitled to a leave yet plus he isn't a fan of foreign trips due to his phobia for heights/long flights so I don't really see him travelling out soonest. Since its over 7 months I got denied, I decided reapplying. I am sponsoring myself for the trip cos hubby just spent lots recently(accommodation, home appliances etc).Though i made a hotel reservation, i filled in my male cousin as my contact in the us cos I hope to see him and his kids briefly before going on my tour around plus he said he might in fact accompany me around if he wasn't so busy then.

Please all, what are the likely questions or issues I should expect this time around during my interview o and what do you feel are my chances. I must not be denied this third time o cry
