United Kingdom Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was detained in London on charges of money laundering in September 2005. At the time of his arrest, Metropolitan police found about £1m in cash in his London home. Later they found a total of £1.8m ($3.2m) in cash and bank accounts.[4] He has been found to own real estate in London worth an alleged £10 million.[citation needed] His state's monthly federal allocation for the last six years has been in the order of £32 million.[citation needed] He jumped bail in December 2005 from the United Kingdom by allegedly disguising himself as a woman, though Alamieyeseigha denies this claim.[5] Nigeria On July 26, 2007, Alamieyeseigha pled guilty before a Nigerian court to six charges and was sentenced to two years in prison on each charge; however, because the sentences were set to run concurrently and the time was counted from the point of his arrest nearly two years before the sentences, his actual sentence was relatively short. Many of his assets were ordered to be forfeited to the Bayelsa state government. According to Alamieyeseigha, he only pled guilty due to his age and would have fought the charges had he been younger.[6] On July 27, just hours after being taken to prison, he was released due to time already served.[7]In April 2009, Alamieyeseigha pledged a donation of 3,000,000 Naira to the Akassa Development Foundation.[citation needed]In December 2009, the federal government hired a British law firm to help dispose of four expensive properties acquired by Alamieyeseigha in London. Alamieyeseigha had bought one of these properties for £1,750,000.00 in July 2003, paying in cash. Diepreye Solomon Peter Alamieyeseigha used it as his London residence, and as the registered office of Solomon and Peters Inc.[8] United States On June 28, 2012, the United States (US) Department of Justice (DoJ) announced that it had executed an asset forfeiture order on $401,931 in a Massachusetts brokerage fund, traceable to Alamieyeseigha. US prosecutors filed court papers in April 2011 targeting the Massachusetts brokerage fund and a $600,000 Maryland home, which they alleged were the proceeds of corruption. A motion for default judgement and civil forfeiture was granted by a Massachusetts federal district judge in early June 2012. The forfeiture order was the first to be made under the DoJ’s fledgling Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative.[9] Pardonk On 12 March 2013, Alamieyeseigha was pardoned by President Goodluck Jonathan, but his pardoning was criticised by many.[10][11] References Read in another languageLast modified 1 month ago MobileDesktopContent is available under CC BY-SA 3.0 unless otherwise noted.Terms of usePrivacy |
What does an Ex Convict like Alams has to say, a man that impoverished his country for so many years, a man that came into the country dressed like a thief, is there any dignity for a thief, Jonathan is surrounded by dreamers and men who are only hallucinating.its unfortunate that the exalted seat of a President no longer has honour.Jonathan is so inept and hevily corrupt. He lacks the moral integrity to captain this ship. His ambition is dead on arrival and will be met by thunderous opposition. 2015 will be tempestuous for him! |
Jonathan now relies on the likes of Ex convicts like Alams to win Elections. The guy has lost the battle. |
If Pdp like let them Present jonathan and shepopo, both will be defeated! This elections would be different, the cowards now rely on councillors, lets see....Jonathan 2015 is a failed Project. |
@ilugun boy more power to your elbow, we must continue to speak against deceit until we get there. |

We really need to cross examine this man we have as President, I really doubt if he has a Phd, he is a failure to the academia where he comes from.We need to vote this inept, corrupt and mindless man out of Govt. |
Jonathan digging his Political grave, he is no longer Popular,he cannot win in a fair contest, he has lost appeal, lost the SW, and the North and even in his South South brewed bad blood in Rivers State. He is a huge failure.Abati is just arrogant and mentally short circuited, At his age he chooses to spew out dust just like Okupe comparing Retardeen to Mandela.A government of clowns! |
I used to remeber those days when Obasanjo used to give that okupe slaps on his face to bring him back to his senses....okupe and Abati are animals! |
Sanusi knows what he is saying, how can you say that a man who has been CBN gov for over 4 yrs does not know the workings of the oil industry cash flow, its a blatant lie, the truth is that NNPC is trying to cover up.....Jonathan is just brainless, I can imagine that fat nosed dude drinking alo, o with Dokubo.......2015 is your deadline! |
Abati is just another hungry journalist rescued from the jagulars of hunger and Poverty, he has simply lost his finesse and sense of judgement just for a bowl of meal which he might not be allowed to enjoy because condoning corruption might lead to anarchy, what a pity! |
Jonathan is the most tribal ethnic bigot Nigeria ever had as President,a President that openly associates with known militants just because of his re-election bid in 2015,even in terms of appointments into Public institutions this same man has proved to be a tribal, during the days of Obasanjo, there was equitable didtribution of Positions and corruption was largely fought,Obasanjo might not have been the best of men but he was truly a Nationalist who fought for the sole Unity of Nigeria, today it is the same South South and South Easterners who even Polarize it further. Expect a torpedo of events before 2015,PDP is as good as gone, let Goodluck sit down with riff raffs like Asari and decide 2015,PDP is aónly history, more Governors and People with ´clout will move over to the Progressive camp and the mediocre called Jonathan would come crashing! |
Goodluck just like David Moyes...so Clueless! |
Unfortunately Nigerians voted for the most dummy President in history, this is a man that cannot think by himself, lacks intiative and Charisma to Lead,he has only Polarized Nigeria further along ethinc lines and plays the ethinc card always, during the Days of Obasanjo..may not be a saint but dealt with corruption even S.M Afolabi had to commit suicide and Tafa was unceremoniously stripped,Alams was caged, paid off our debts and opened up the Economy.Jonathan is just clueless and so daft, even some local Govermnet councillors are better than this guy. |
The truth is that Nigeria has to strategically align itself in Africa,we should stop giving hand outs to other African countries,we should look inward and Position ourselves by strengthening our Economy and overall atitudinal change.Corruption has to be uprooted and the social order must change. I think it would be important too to elect Leaders who have the right charisma and weight to Push our Darling country forward,Nigeria is still great, every other country in Africa still envies us,abeit waiting for our down fall, the dance of the rich they say never pleases the Poor! Nigeria must rise again, even during the days of Obasanjo, although not a Perfectionist but nobody dared snob him....not a President that sweats and stammers before BBC or CNN reporters. Only the best and just should rule Nigeria,i still maintain my stand that some Governors are better than the President ! Nigeria must rise against all odds. |
Ghanians are idiots, , always interfering in our affairs, even if we hav differencies in Nigeria, that doesnt stop us from gathering together and beat sense into you buns hawking Ghanians. ?.dem swear for una ni? |
Am just amazed that Nigerians voted in a man that has no ideology nor common sense as President, is this what the South South can really offer? Is this man the best from that region? I bet he is not worth a councillor in some other climes, what a waste of votes! |
Did he use his fathers money for the Project, ordinary water and You guys are screaming, what was he elected for? |
@AD+ please retract your statement about LAUTECH, I graduated from LAUTECH and work with my Nigerian degree in Germany, the truth is to believe in yourself, there are so many LAUTECH grads out there doing really great. |
Now, I can see that Okupe is high on some cheap stuff, comparing a clueless man with no ideology to Mandela, in some climes jonathan wouldn't even become a councillor! |
Akpabio..is just a misfit!, a Governor that supervises the beating of Honourable members of the house. |
Goodluck is a Product of a failed system, in a working system he wouldn't become a Councillor, I cant imagine a cluless Person like tha being the President of Nigeria! |
(born 16 November 1952) was governor of Bayelsa State in Nigeria from 29 May 1999 to 9 December 2005.
