Phones › Re: What Phone Do I Buy? Someone Suggested HTC Desire 616 by teelaweee(m): 8:22pm On Mar 06, 2016 |
Pharoahnd: Hello guys,
I plan to replace my phone next month, but the problem is that I am currently at loss on which phone to buy.
I currently use a Blackberry Bold 5, which I have been using for the past 3 years. I must say that it served me well, but its time to move on to another phone, with better speed, etc.
I currently have a Samsung Tablet which I love a lot, but I'm thinking that buying another Samsung phone would make me too concentrated or exposed to Samsung.
Someone suggested the HTC Desire 616, claiming that it has better speed, battery power and picture quality.
I will really appreciate honest suggestions from you guys.
Please note that I am that type of guys that insists on using a phone for at least 2 years (3 years preferred), therefore the phone must be durable. In fact I hate phones that are too fragile. I heard that the Samsung screen is fragile and costs 'an arm and leg' to replace.
Also, I hate large phones, and would prefer one that I can carry in my trouser pocket at all times.
As per my budget, I don't mind going as high as 70k check out phantom 5 or phantom z mini |

Phones › Re: Why Tecno Sale Rep Always Overhype Ordinary Phantom5 by teelaweee(m): 7:38pm On Mar 06, 2016 |
greenhulk: I get ur point. I agree the phantom 5 is too expensive considering it is running mediatek that is not even Helios x10. But no denying the phone has flagship specs and nice build to it. It is on the same per with xioami redmi note 3 and mi 4. Both note 3 and mi 4 are sold for about 65k if u choose the 3gb version, phantom 5 is sold for about 80-90k right now (all thanks to dollar hike, original price was 70k). Still too expensive I know.
But u have to also have one thing in mind. Tecno have shops and offices in Nigeria, they pay tax, pay workers thereby creating employment. They participate in promos, (hey, they even lit up computer village) have customer support, etc. At least tecno gives u aftersales support.. Good luck funding that with xiaomi. Now how do u think they pay for all that? Xioami phones are imported, they don't have shops neither do they pay workers, they don't pay tax, no promos nothing. So u definitely expect their phones to be cheaper here. Trust me if xioami get their company registered in this country and pay all their dues, by the time they have shops, bcostimer care , pay workers, so promos, etc then the prices of their phones will be more expensive than importing them from overseas.
Oh, one more thing, do u know they newly released mi5 is not cheap? It will cost between 120-130k to get it to Nigeria. That's a quality phone but don't expect peanuts. Guy you are right |

Phones › Re: My Tecno L5 Review: Appreciating Compact by teelaweee(m): 6:42pm On Mar 03, 2016 |
KCode: The L5, for what it's worth is nice for its price. After a little over 1 month with this device, I learned that it earned its tag - compact, pretty well.
This is a phone of 2015 which enjoys Android 5.1 Lollipop. It radiates a 4.5-inch IPS touchscreen. To the Camera is a 5.0 MP at the back and a meagre 0.3 MP Front-facing Camera which is disappointing. A 2MP at the front would have been OK. But Tecno makes sure this device suffers this vital drawback, as selfie lovers would want to shy away. It takes horrible pictures with the Front Camera; none to be proud of.
As always, a device of this level gets to maintain an 8GB ROM, and 1GB of RAM which is kinda a Tecno tradition.
Its 1.3GHz Quad-core Processor makes sure the L5 runs smoothly, even though its performance speed isn't all that fast due to its 1GB RAM.
A dual-sim support is welcomed, as a normal Sim sits at Sim 1 and a micro as 2.
Now to the killer feature, its 5000MAh battery. The L5 should easily last 2 days of moderate use on a single charge; most times it runs into 3.
Available: November 2015 Resolution: 854 x 480 Price: N18,000
And there it goes, the L5, a Smartphone for the power-hungry.
www.informationfromjay..co.ke/2016/02/the-l5-review-appreciating-compact.html?m=1 to me it is good considering the price range |

thephonelovers: lool no be bad thing na! if you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. BB did not want to evolve with their consumers, Tecno studied the market, and launched big time with the consumer in mind, meeting all their needs.

Phones › Re: Tecno Boom J5 Lollipop Smartphone [all You Need To Know] by teelaweee(m): 8:05am On Mar 03, 2016 |
bakkajo: If it is the issue of "repetition of same Smartphone with a little differences either in battery life, OS, screen size or camera", almost all android smartphone companies are guilty of this. A white Samsung note 2 looks like any random white Samsung large screen phone. Companies do this and will continue to do this. It's called capitalism. As for the battery issue, I think what you should say is this phone is not well suited for your needs. There are a lot of phones Samsung has released this year that do not have battery capacity of up to 3000mAh. Samsung Z1 has 1500mAh, Samsung Galaxy J1 has 1850mAh and that is just mentioning a few. People want different things from different phones. It's called variety. And yes, Tecno has a killer device in the offing. It's called Camon C8. I would like to know your informed thoughts on it since what you are looking for is 3000mAh battery capacity. Also, these "killer devices" from other companies of which you speak, are they affordable for the everyday man? Because Tecno generally panders to the everyday man. It's called target market. I'm drawing parallels with Samsung because it is a "reputable" company and is presently at the top of the android market. You run a tech blog, I'd expect you'd be knowledgeable about these things. Draw parallels with other companies or phones of the same economic standing as Tecno so we can be convinced. I agree with you 100% |

Phones › Re: The Differences Between Android Infinix Hot 2 And Tecno Camon C8 by teelaweee(m): 8:10pm On Mar 02, 2016 |
BustScam: Tecno Camon C8 and Infinix Hot 2 was launched in Nigeria last year. If you see the two phones you wouldn't know which one to buy because of the specs, design etc.
Here I am going to share my own view and the differences between both of them:
1. DISPLAY AND DESIGN
Infinix Hot 2 comes with 5.0 HD and a cool, trendy design (you can mistake that phone for Infinix Zero) while Tecno Camon C8 comes with a display screen of 5.5 HD screen and smooth color, with a nice cool design.
2. CAMERA
Infinix Hot 2 comes with 8.0 MP rear camera (at the back of the phone) and 2.0 MP front camera while Tecno Camon C8 comes with 13.0 MP autofocus rear camera and 5 MP front camera, with a camera shooter button by the side of the phone.
3. MEMORY CAPACITY
Infinix hot 2 comes with 1/2GB RAM + 16GB internal memory while Tecno Camon C8 come with 1GB RAM + 16GB internal memory.
4. SIM SLOT Infinix Hot 2 support both dual micro Sim while Tecno Camon C8 support dual Sim (micro Sim and mini Sim)
5. LATEST ANDROID OS
Infinix Hot 2 comes with a first of its kind Android one(5.1 Lollipop) and which is going to receive a OTA update for Android OS whenever there is a new development while Tecno Camon C8 comes with 5.0 Lollipop.
6. BATTERY CAPACITY
Infinix Hot 2 battery capacity is 2,200 mAh while Tecno Camon C8 comes with 3,000 mAh (non-removable battery)
7. PRICE
Infinix Hot 2 1GB RAM + 16GB is #17,500 and 2GB RAM + 16GB is #19,500 while Tecno Camon C8 price is between #20,000 - #25,000 (depends on the location you buy it).
Now, decide for yourself based on these seven comparisons that are well useful for the common man which is better amongst these phones?
I wait to answer all your questions... camon C8 to the win |
