Health / Re: Personalized Nutritional Counseling With A Registered Dietitian by Teephar(f): 1:20am On Oct 05, 2016

Hello Teephar,

Good to hear from you.

The major difference between a dietitian and nutritionist is the level of education and training between the two. Both function with same goal- To assist client achieve optimal nutrition, through better food choices.
A dietitian must complete one year dietetic internship and pass the dietetic test of professional competency by the IDN (institute of dietetics in Nigeria) to be licensed to practice in clinical setting, in addition to postgraduate degree.
While a nutritionist can be registered with Nutrition society of Nigeria, as a graduate of human Nutrition/ Nutrition and dietetics.

I would have to ask you, if you know the reason your dad was referred to a nutritionist in Ibadan, with dietitians practicing in Abuja.
Depending on who referred him, medical practitioner? Or non medical?, and his/her reasons for doing so.

I am sure the referrer wants the best care for your dad.

Apologies for late response.

thanks a lot.... He was referred by his doctor.

I am glad I could be of help.
Wide range of employment awaits from teaching ( high school, polytechnics, universities to public sector (government ministries, Nafdac, military, private food and pharmaceuticals company, Hotels, Food service (mr Biggs and healthy food service coy), private practice (blogging, personalized services just like am doing) and lots more.
Most importantly a Nutritionist has to develop his or her skills and then blossom, remember the worldvneeds you.
what's the difference between a dietician and a nutritionist.... My dad was told to go and see an nutritionist in ibadan... And we have lots of dieticians here in Abuja...

I'm a 100l medical student in the University of Ilorin. Waited impatiently for the first semester result until yesterday when they started releasing it "3s". Got As in all the first set and the second set ( that's 6A). Everyone was waiting for the third and determining set until this night when this bad thing happened. Checked and was shocked, Got 2 As and 1B in the last set. I felt like dying. My target has been to get 5.0 in the faculty this year(both semesters). This course that I got B in is so simple that even average students are getting "A". But I thank God, every occurrence has its reason(s) of happening. . But I will never forget this!!!

Islam for Muslims / Re: Christians, Why Don't You Beat Your Wives Like We Muslims Do? by Teephar(f): 8:03am On Dec 21, 2014
holatin:
Firstly I marvel at the amount of ogogoro the mod that transfer this to front page must Ve been under without him changing the title.

And you know nairaland to be a place, religion fanatic will say anything to rubbish a religion different from them.

The verse you mentioned has been greatly misconceived
by many people who focus merely on its surface
meaning, taking it to allow wife beating. When the
setting is not taken into account, it isolates the words in
a way that distorts or falsifies the original meaning.
Before dealing with the issue of wife-battering in the
perspective of Islam, we should keep in mind that the
original Arabic wording of the Holy Quran is the only
authentic source of meaning. If one relies on the
translation alone, one is likely to misunderstand it

"According to Quran the relationship between the
husband and wife should be based on mutual love and
kindness. Allah says: "And among His Signs is this, that
He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye
may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love
and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs
for those who reflect." (Quran: Ar-Rum 21)
The Holy Quran urges husbands to treat their wives with
kindness. (In the event of a family dispute, Quran
exhorts the husband to treat his wife kindly and not to
overlook her positive aspects). Allah Almighty says:
“Live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If
ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a
thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of
good.” (Quran: An-Nisaa 19)

As to those women on whose part
you fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them
(first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat
them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not
against them means (of annoyance); for Allah is most
High and Great (above you all). If you fear a breach
between them twain, appoint (two) arbiters, one from his
family and the other from hers. If they wish for peace,
Allah will cause their reconciliation; for Allah has full
knowledge and is acquainted with all things." (Quran:
An-Nisaa 34-35)
It is important to read the section fully. One should not
take part of the verse and use it to justify one's own
misconduct. This verse neither permits violence nor
condones it. It guides us to ways to handle delicate
family situation with care and wisdom. The word
"beating" is used in the verse, but it does not mean
"physical abuse". The Prophet (p.b.u.h.) explained it
"dharban ghayra mubarrih" which means "a light tap that
leaves no mark". He further said that face must be
avoided. Some other scholars are of the view that it is
no more than a light touch by siwak, or toothbrush.

TELL ME HOW A TAP COULD BE CALLED BEATING.
. bro u said it all
