Dear All,

This is to notify all stakeholders that TeHN has now been fully incorporated by CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) under the registered name "Helpers at large Network".

Rationale for the change of name: We encountered several issues surrounding the vagueness of our original name "TeHN" hence we've had to settle for the Helpers at large Network. We will continue to be known as TeHN but officially as "Helpers at large Network"

Next plan:
We will now go ahead to open an official bank account which can be audited as at when necessary
We will look into incorporating the group in the UK as well so as to take advantage of Tax benefits surrounding charitable donations

Lastly, we couldn't have done all these without you guy's support down the years and we are extremely grateful for your continuous support in helping us actualize our collective dream of alleviating helpless and sometimes voiceless people from abject poverty

Kind Regards

Jah bless!
We have deliberated on the case as a group but unfortunately we wouldn't be able to help with the case for the following reasons:

1) His case didn't pass our strict critical test
2) We can't justify using the balance of funds (from DJ's appeal) that we've been utilizing for our recent cases on educational intervention.
3) The OP also appears to be struggling academically thereby making it extremely difficult to find any incentive to help at this time

Dear All,

We've now had the time to consider the validity and severity of Iyasamd’s case by physically visiting her and going through evidences submitted for consideration in making a judgement.

We are pleased to announce we’ve reached an unanimous decision to accept this case.

Our proposed action plan after considering her pressing needs is as follows:

Expiring rent – We shall help her pay for an extra year’s rent (50K) on the condition that we pay the rent directly to the landlord

Various loans to balance – We shall help her pay the balance of her loans (64k) on the condition that we pay them directly to the lenders

Stocking of shop100K to re-stock the shop. She will be required to work with our field worker in procuring all the items as required

One-off subsidization of her children’s school fees – Natasha has wonderfully offered to help with this so no additional help from us with this.

Lastly, although we already have an estimated budget of 214K designated for this from balance of funds but we will implore anyone willing to partner us in bringing smile back to Iyasamd’s face to please send us an email @ ehelpersnetwork@gmail.com so we can provide details of how you can make donations to this worthy cause. We hope to be in a position to close the case by the end of this month

Kind Regards

TeHN

EducationRe: Tehn Is Calling All School Leavers To Apply For TNRI Scholarship by TeHN:
Q/A with the recipient of 2014/15 TNRI Scholarship

Q: Please introduce yourself

A: I am Ajala Ayobami, a student of Architecture in the school of first choice, UNILAG and I'm the winner of TNRI scholarship scheme for this year.

Q:How did you hear about TNRI

A: I heard about the scholarship from a friend. He sent a text containing the link for applying. He told me it was an essay kinda scholarship.

Q: How did you feel when you were applying for it? Did you feel like you had a chance to win?

A: When my friend sent the text, the urge to apply was low because I felt so many grandiloquent peeps are out there that will finish up the essay with jaw breaking vocabulary. Later something boosted the urge so I decide to write. God involved, I started having the feeling that I actually stood a chance of winning. I was eligible and right for most or all of the criteria. With that, I sent in my essay. Also I saw somewhere that a girl won a scholarship because she was the only one that applied...I might just be the only one!!!.

Q: How did you feel when you learnt you got into the second round?

A: I was in school for registration when I saw the email. I was so happy that the guy beside asked what suddenly happened. I called my mum immediately to inform her. At that time I knew God was up to something!.

Q: How did you feel when you found out you won. What was your immediate reaction?

A: I am not sure if words can adequately describe my feeling that day. Let me just simply put it as 'JOY-FILLED'. The minute I saw the email, I went down on my knees. I just couldn't think of any other thing than to just thank God. I was so happy!.

Q: Now that you have won, how do you intend to maximize this opportunity

A: Having won, it means financial worries are over, more time and focus for my academic and career work. I will study harder and try my best to stay ahead in my quest for success. I will make sure i don't disappoint the group of benevolent people that decided to take up my financial needs.

Q: How would the Scholarship award help you with your ambition?

A: The scholarship, as I have been made to know, is for my tuition and maintenance through my undergraduate studies. These are the main financial needs of a student. With that in place, all I have to do is just study, learn and equip myself with the necessary skills for a successful career and pray to God to see me through.

Q: What message do you have for young people like you out there?

A: Hmmm.....young people, I am still young so this is for me(what I keep in mind and do) and every young person out there. First of it all, have God. Let him be at the top and bottom, beginning and end of all the things you do. Life will throw all sorts at you but try to make the best and positive use of everything life throws. Don't overlook opportunities, it might just be God's plan for you. Stay focused, study hard and try to make the best of every academic achievement possible. Aspire for the best possible option available in various academic pursuit. These are not the only things required in life but are part of the basic things!..see you at the top.

Q: What message do you have for the organisers and the donor.

A: Organisers and donors, Ese gan n ni o. Thank you very much. You have chosen to help someone achieve his/her dreams, that's a good deed and God rewards good deeds. God will surely reward you according to his riches in Glory. Thank you for the benevolent gestures and I pray God will continue to provide so others like me out there will be able to enjoy such kind gestures

HealthRe: Please help this 4 Year old little blind boy - He has no one else to turn to by TeHN: 12:34pm On Jul 20, 2015
Dear All,

We've now had time to deliberate on this case and here goes our official response. After having considered the complexity of the case in line with TeHN’s current limitations, we are happy to announce that we would like to provide some sort of defined support for the boy in question.

In considering the case, we specifically looked at the information at disposal and the extent at which TeHN’s intervention can be measured going forward. We do feel the family needs a two pronged approach (empowerment and rehabilitation and/or medical intervention of the boy) in order to alleviate them from their current predicament but our involvement will be restricted to the little boy for the following reasons:

1) We don’t have enough resources to empower a potential young family of 7

2) TeHN has stopped accepting medical cases as we don’t have confidence in the healthcare system in Nigeria

In light of the above, our proposed intervention will be restricted to either of the following:

1) A one off donation to meet the cost of any corrective surgery if possible – We will only make the donation if and when any respectable volunteer has helped manage the process to a logical conclusion (We will expect them to do the facilitation of getting appointment and receiving a definite diagnosis and cost from any reputable hospital)

2) If option 1 is not feasible either by lack of a respectable volunteer or we receive feedback that corrective surgery is impossible, we will instruct our field workers to investigate the possibility of having the little boy admitted into a specialist school and work out a budget that we will be willing to make one-off donation towards.

Dear All,

This is a formal notification of TeHN’s intention to Intervene on this case. We’ve been in contact with the woman in question and subsequently used evidence provided by the reputable NLer who physically visited her in reaching our decision

Our involvement will be restricted to empowerment alone as we aren’t equipped and experience in managing marital conflicts. We genuinely feel keeping her mind/body occupied with business activities will help damper the effect of her marital turmoil.

In light of the above, we've decided as a group to do the following:

1) We will pay 40K towards her rent (The payment is for a year’s rent)
2) We will contribute 60K towards her choice of business (Direct sales of female clothing to end users is her preferred choice)
3) We will welcome contributions to a max of 40K from those willing to support this initiative

Lastly, we hope to be in the position to transfer the funds by the end of the month so those willing to contribute towards the 40K should please send us an email to the following address => ehelpersnetwork@gmail.com

Dear All,
As part of our commitment to ensure balance of funds from DJ’s appeal is used to provide relief/support to the needy, the TeHN team can now report the completion of our intervention programme designed by the group to address Ms Monsurat urgent needs.
The group agreed to address her Yam business as well as look for other ways she can generate additional income alongside the established business. In doing so, we decided to encourage her to sell fizzy/soft drinks in conjunction with the Yam.
Please see attached the final budget for the project and some pictures taken as at when the procured items were delivered.

HealthRe: RIP DJDOLA- We Will Miss You by TeHN: 3:55pm On May 28, 2015
Dear All,
We are now in the position to provide a Final update with regards to empowerment of DJ’s mum and subsequently closing the case. Just to recount, you guys (stakeholders) endorsed option 3 (empowerment) and we notified you of our intention to take executive decisions on the extent of each component of the chosen option.

We've been in close dialogue with the family for the past few weeks and they weren't forth coming with our request for them to provide us with specific details of each of the component.

We asked them to provide us with a preferred business as this would have enabled us work with them to procure the goods as well as help them start-up in order for a seamless transition. The family wasn't forthcoming with the requested Info so we decided as a group by way of independent voting among the members on a figure that should be handed over to the family.

In arriving at the 350K figure, we took the following into consideration:

House Rent : They currently pay 5K per month so we decided to pay for 1 year (60K)
New Shop rent: We've budgeted 10K per month for this and decided to cost it for a single year (120K)
Stocking the shop: 170K (We also took into consideration the separate 100K that was handed over to the mum specifically to address her business)

We have now transferred the 350K to them as of this morning and our field officer physically visited them so they can sign that the money was received (Please see the attached pictures. The field officer’s face has been blurred out for obvious reasons)

Lastly, the 350K was roughly about 21% of the final balance so we will open a new thread to provide breakdown of all subsequent expenditures as at when necessary.
They family are forever grateful and prayed for every one of us (all Nairalanders). They've also sent a special BIG thank you to Miss Caracta for all her continuous support to the family.
They plan to relocate to Badagry so they can be closer to their first child as well as to hopefully get some sort of reduction in cost of rental.

Thanks to each and every one of you for your continuous support and we sincerely hope we will only be congregating to rejoice for TeHN projects going forward

Kind Regards

Dear All,

We've now concluded this year’s TNRI scholarship scheme and the recipient has been duly notified. In reaching the final decision, the following grading methodology (pictures attached) was implemented so as to ensure consistency and fairness in the process.

Mr Ayobami Ajala has emerged as the recipient of 2014/15 TNRI scholarship. We might also be in a position (dependent on our ability to source extra funding) to offer the 2nd runner up Mr Anthony Adah an extra scholarship.

The scholarship was keenly contested and we can only wish all applicants best of luck for the future

Medical cases are extremely challenging and as such they are beyond our expertise. In the past we've been able to restrict our involvement to funds collection but our key modus operandi demands that we ensure accountability which as you know would require us to be involved in every step all through the way.

We understand that it’s always very difficult to say no but be rest assured this decision was taken after listening to various feedback from our key stakeholders

Nairaland GeneralTehn Progress Update Re: EZE by TeHN(op):
We thought we had update everyone that contributed to the funds that has enabled Eze achieve his dream of getting a good quality university degree. Eze has now finished year 1 and subsequently proceeded to year 2.

Please find below Eze’s thank you message in his own words:

[b]DEAR NAIRALAND

FROM A GRATEFUL HEART

I am writing from a humble heart, in appreciation of your generous donation towards my desire to have a University degree which would have been dashed due to financial constraint.

Your kind gesture and selfless act gave me a new hope and strengthened my heart not to faint.
When hope was lost, I found hope where I least expected, I am speechless to say the least.

“A grateful heart is a beginning of greatness. It is an expression of humility. It is a foundation for the development of such virtues as prayer, faith, courage, contentment, happiness, love, and well – being” – James E. Fraust.

I am indeed grateful for all your support not just towards me but towards my entire household.

By the special grace of God, I concluded my part one successfully and I would be resuming for the 2nd year soonest.
I am so very grateful to TEHN for the support, counsel, encouragement, prayers and all that I got through them. That people could give to support my education on a faceless forum goes a long way to show that Nigerians are indeed kind-hearted.

My heart will forever be grateful for this, my lips will not stop saying it and my hand will never cease to write how I found favour, help and support from Nairalanders through TEHN.

May God bless you all and reward you according to His riches and mercy.

Thank you.
