@ Vlesparza, well, guess the first question I should have asked before answering was if hubby would be in Elpaso with her. If he won't, and she needs it signed, and sent from Nigeria, then it should be by a notary public at the American embassy in Nigeria. If he would be in el Paso with her, then your advice is in order. grin
If husband is in El Paso, no need to notarize. Notaries are only required when one parent is absent hence the document is sent from where the other parent is.

[Abeg which select stores are applicable for tax return
quote author=telias post=46565080]

Not applicable in all States but Texas does. They are at the Galleria in Houston and Dallas and the airports. However, the last time I did, only items purchased within one month of date of return from the select stores on the list. Was paid half of the tax value though.
Check www.taxfreetexas.com However, only items purchased within a month of your travel return date will be eligible. You may chose to buy your designer stuff and devices then. Lol

A. Yes it matters. You can buy a money order and send to innovate instead of using ur card .
B. it could take from 2-3weeks
C. No, they dont usually pick up.

Thats why you shouldnt do it yourself if you dont have lots of time. I did my baby's own myself cos i stayed more tha 6 weeks in the US after giving birth but I wouldnt ever try it again cos i dont intend staying up to that amount of time for subsequent missionary journeys
So grateful for your response. 2-3 weeks; one must really have a lot of time. Cos even before then, we'll wait for bc, wait for passport issuance. Will stick to the former method jeje

Hi all. I had a baby in 2014 and processing the Nigerian visa thenseemed complicated. Got stuck at the payment page where it was compulsory to use exactly the same name on card as the name of the visa applicant. Plus I called the 3 embassies again and again without making a connection back then. Was pressed for time so I resorted to using Tanko and got in 3 days.did not mind paying the$50 diff then. However, since there are people here who have done this successfully, please help with this info
a. Does it matter the name on card used for payment?
b. How long does it actually really take to get back the passport
c.Does one get prompt responses now via telephone or email to the embassies and which one -to follow up on an application?
Thanks

PS: just arrived in Dallas but POE was very uneventful so transcript will bore you in the spirit of giving back. The only thing was I was asked a question which I have always wondered what response to give " why don't you have your baby in Nigeria, why the United States?

My heart leaped initially but I just responded that I was told it is not illegal to have a baby in US so I chose that option. we moved on from there.

hi, can he wait till the baby is born? you can notarize in ups or fedex for a fee, or if he has a us bank account i think he can get it notarized in the bank.
If he's waiting till baby is born, there is no need for notarising if he's present

Thanks biollar1, I have told them to buy Onion
I'd actually advise oriental flavour (very nice) cos onion flavour is still onion-chicken. My colleague's own was seized. But the thing is quite scarce. You'll find at Spar in Lagos or any online store line supermartng and co

Just when i wan start my enjoyment sad standard chartered just broke my heart like Stanbic . Got dis mail from dem ryt now. Na to dey withdraw till den daily o. I was able to withdraw $200 via atm in Walmart at the rate of N277 per $. No further charge(s) whatsoever.

House, what's the max one can do on money order? Since their limit na $10,000 annually and all can be used in 2 months or 3months.

Abeg gurus...how I fit withdraw reasonable amount before month end?
You can not exceed a set limit for daily pos transactions for money order unfortunately. But if they are willing to increase limit for you (very doubtful) then you can do more. It is tied to daily pos transaction limit

See all these mamas harbouring illegal immigrants in their homes!

Laugh wan kee me.

Seriously for the people that didnt see any date in the passport, you guys were supposed to get Nigerian passpirts within 3 months. Infact we will start deporting all your kids to the US.
I've been travelling in and out of naija for the past 2 years on the blue passport without any date and with no issues. Illegal immigrants are supposed to be deported back to their country; do they want to deport them back to Yankee ni? Oya na. Only recently did the naija passport. 32 pages available in one week in alausa. 64 pages same day

I think standard chartered is the best. The last time I checked this week they charged 276 to a dollar
So they still accept card for intl transactions?

A little clarification to all about Stanbic IBTC PTA. They have a BDC subsidiary so it's not like it's the Bank issuing like other Banks. In effect, they don't always get funds from CBN hence the reason why they have been issuing more than other Banks. This also accounts for reasons why rates differ, 197 today, 257 tomorrow.

How come no one is talking about the proposed devaluation and its impact on PTA/cheap Fx plans?
We don't want anxiety attack ni. Nothing to change our minds about our missionary journey

@Blaize777, congrats first of all. Just set the thought of bills aside and focus on the other important B, baby.

My two cents on relying on healthgrades, it's not a sure fire way of knowing the best and affordable. It's like trip advisor; facilities may get 1 or 2 stars for not having a rug instead of tiles.

For instance, many mothers her have used Oakbend for VD but they are rated 1 star for that same service. Gif well not let us fall into the hands of quacks and with much advice and experience here, we'll do good.

Been following the thread as a guest. i read about the anxiety of some mums about epidural and i'd like to drop some few notes (for VD o. If it's CS, you have to or go under GA).
Epidural is not the only form of pain control for VD on offer though it seems more straightforward and can be in use through out the period of labour.
you can choose to use IV meds but at the point of delivery, they do not administer so you will be active. However, cheaper than epidural with shorter side effects.
Also, you can go the free way of using heat/cold method (i did and it really helped; got my full refund of $1,100 for anesthesia back, yipee) and other labour aids on offer. BTW sha; it was my second baby. i had already suffered fist delivery without panadol in naija so i guess i could cope better.

Hello all. Going on second missionary journey.
i read about the automated customs kiosk at DFW Dallas Airport for b1/B2 visa holders.
However, reading up about it, i saw that there is a separate kiosk for US citizens. I will be travelling with my 2yr old blue pali holder, can i scan the passport at the same kiosk as mine for visa holders? Thank you
