My start date is 9th too. Since you have an extension letter for 2 weeks, I think you can still wait especially if it is Abuja embassy.

For those applying for emergency request, asides from SEVIS fee receipt, it is also important to have completed your DS-160 form and submitted. Also attach the confirmation to the required documents.

No. I didn't get an email when I submitted the request.

There's also no how to track until you receive an email from them.

After submitting mine I didn't get anything and the EA tab disappeared from my dashboard.

You won't see a tab for a reminder. What I meant was that you use feedback tab to explain that you are still expecting their response.
Or better still send a mail to support-nigeria@ustraveldocs.com

If you apply for emergency request in Abuja and has not gotten a response, you can use the feedback option on your dashboard to send a reminder.

Also July 19, 21, 22, 23 is available for emergency request in Abuja.

Please, what is the probability that more earlier dates will still pop up in Lagos. I have requested for emergency appointment and like many people, I haven't gotten a response from them.

No you can't use that passport because of its validity is less than 6 months. I'll advice you push for your renewed passport urgently.
