TheFreeOne: I prefers Oke (AD) to other candidates but its saddening that the only viable opposition (PDP) has been so factionalized that Nigeria is gradually becoming a one party state thanks to the likes of Okon Abang and Sheriff who has shown himself to be an APC mole.
And it's so unfortunate that even if millions of Nigerians calls for Abang sack the APC government will turn deaf ears cos he hasn't finished doing their bidding. You have only displayed your level of ignorance so what is the function of NJC. If Abang has done anything wrong it is left to them to do the right thing. Must APC be held responsible for everything. Thankfully APC and NJC aren't in good term in view of the recent bursting of some judges so they can't be accused of conniving with NJC. |

ificatchmodeh: Is this still the nigeria that great activities of the 90's and 80's fought to restore democracy and rule of law?
What's has happened to Nigeria and some of her citizens?
Can't believe that the citizens of this great nation are the ones calling for absolute dictatorship., and screaming to hell with the rule of law.. This is not the nigeria I know.. Are they jinxed?
Imagine comparing our institutions with that of a first world country..where institutions ve been built with laid down rules for decades of years. To compare with ours, that our institution are directly under presidency in power.
From efcc dss, nsa, all are directly under the president. Can we say that of developed nations that we're comparing ourselves with?
Nigeria is finished.
Some time last month..the presidency requested for emergency power tocarry out its imaginary duties, public opinion rejected it,our national assembly rejected it,the president denied it..cos we all know that such power will lead to dictatorship.
Fast forward..
They presidency has forcefully empowered itself...with the emergency power the country rejected...under guise of fighting corruption.
Now every dictator always have an excuse..for being a tyrant...which sway sentiments for them. Buhari has chosen corruption...and the best option that he believe will instill fear..on the masses..is the rule of law..
sold corruption to his country..invade the judiciary with an unproven allegations. Slander them in public court and let his fans do the. Rest..
The rule of law has just been buried..the judicially caged..and the fans celebrates..he has gotten the power..a tyrant is gradually being given a legit power.
Now this judges..we all may agree they're corrupt..tho no prima facie evidence..all allegations. Why not follow the process and procedures laid down by the laws..is it too hard? Why the rush?why the criminality in the action? No matter au corrupt a judge is..he still represents the law..and can't abscond..why not invite them..through public notices at least..why barbarism ? And some ovasabi nigerians are hailing this..and even calling out the NBA and. NJC out..haa..this country's finished..
I weep for my country...i know many of these shouting and deriding the rule of law..bet me..have not witness tyranny ..so could hardly understand why well meaning nigerians are against this..
But maybe..there's is a purpose for all..buhari was not and never a presidential option..but they que..reformed and repackaged him.and today we're in recession and dollar is sliding more..
Maybe we allow him to be a dictator..so we will continue with our punishment..yes absolute power.
Maybe tomorrow when there is no nairaland or bellanaija..or media been censored,we will understand, cos they people must be thought au to respect the president and also loyal to the country.. There is and will always be reasons for a dictator.
Welcome all of us to the new nigeria...where democracy is under. Siege for corruption tobe fought. quite interesting you never felt for our jobless, aimless youths when some of them were carrying placards protesting over the confiscation of some millions of dollars from Ex President Jonathan's wife Patience. But now you do. Quite interesting indeed. |

The only electoral fraud that I witnessed at the polling centres was APC luring Edoites with 2k to vote for its candidate.... Oshiomole had it all planned out and mapped.....
Also.... This is another misleading statement... He had said before now that he will never appoint any PDP member in his cabinet and yet claim he'd run an all-inclusive government... How will this be possible when all you'll do is neglect the potentiality of most offices due to party affiliation...? |

I am quite sure they have detonated all the bombs and explosives they planted on the pipelines before the inauguration of this government and they saw that there is no way of planting additional ones with the eagle eye security around the installations. this could explain their change of tone to something like surrendering knowing fully well that they already diminished also considering the govt build up with Operation Crocodile Smile. They knew their game is up and also PMB latest statement at the just concluded conference in Kenya is a signal that they aren't going to be tolerated for too long. |

Aufbauh: For those making ignorant statement that PMB cannot rule in a democratic government, democratic system does not necessarily entails unnecessary bottlenecks and bureaucracies.
This is what make developed nations different from developing countries. Countries like Germany,USA, France etc that we are always quick to compare our nation to in terms of democratic governance have extant laws that empowered their president to take emergency economic decisions for the nation's prosperity and development.
Though I'm not surprised by some people's view because their ultimate aim and desire is to see that the PMB administration fail like that of their fallen hero, and they will be quick to tell us that 'we told you guys before'.
I have a good news for those waiting eagerly for the nation's failure that it ain't gonna happen! but for people like you. Whom I believed still has some level of sound reasoning. I would have left this forum. Good talk there. |

Semper247: Now, let's even assume Buhari was never a choice, was Jonathan ever gonna be?
What has become of Nigeria and Nigerians these days got me thinking..... Is there still hope for any sanity or greatness?
It was obvious the direction the last admin was heading before they were ousted. Doesn't this bother many angry folks here what would have become of the country had last admin been allowed to stay on? It beats my imagination for some people to think things would have been easier had Jonathan been given second term considering the last had started borrowing to pay salaries months to the day they handed over. Even okonjo warned us to prepare for a very though economic period. Now let me give an insight on what would probably happen if Jona had won...
The billions spent on the election would have ended up in individual pockets without further queries..
Crude price would still had fallen anyways..
Treasury empty plus fall in crude price will make life difficult for govt used to abundance..
Since economic policies were without direction even in abundance, it will be tougher in austerity..
More money would have been borrowed to solve immediate problems like salary payment..
The dasukis, metuhs, obanikoros, badehs , orubebes, fayoses and host of others would still be running things to the misery of the populace.
Now tell me how the combination of the above would have made things better than now.
Why hate the only man who has the courage to chase thieves and return sanity to the system?
You argue he only chases opposition but the moment his party member is caught inbetween, that member becomes a perceived opposition(abi when did saraki and dogara become opposition)
If tomorrow shekau is hunted down, he will become an opposition..
Let's just be rational in our criticisms of the president. People would have him if he were a "chop make I chop" president, but for how long do we continue in this mess.
Nairaland especially had become a platform of hate for the president. Even those that had never worked for #1 in their lives now complain things are hard. People here now find any avenue to criticize buhari. Any comment to deride the president now carries more than 100likes and u wonder why..
If u derive so much joy in seeing things done wrongly in Nigeria, think of posterity.... they will need a sane environment to survive.
Let's the youths be Rational and dump this partisan politics...
Things couldn't just have continued the way they were under Jonathan and we all know this..
Stop supporting criminals in the name of opposition..
THESE GUYS DONT KNOW YOU, THEY HAVE ALREADY INFLICTED LIFE THREATENING INJURIES INTO THE FUTURE OF THIS COUNTRY. Thank you so much for your frank talk unfortunately this kind of sensible and balanced perspective dont always make it to the front page. Kudos to you |
