Politics / Herd Mentality: The Typical Nigerian. by tempilo2k(m): 11:52am On Apr 16, 2016
'Sheep only need a single flock, but people need two: one to belong to and make them feel comfortable, and another to blame all of society’s problems on'.
James Rozoff

I had to post this because it reminds me a lot of the situation on ground. Educated young people arguing passionately about our present political dilemma, wasting productive hours debating on political establishments bent on robbing the citizenry dry.
When are we going to stop having faith in our 'polithiefcians' and call them out for who and what they really are? APC is not better than PDP. Amaechi, Saraki and others are part of a familiar cast of politicians who, at one point or the other, contributed to the level of rot and decay we are plagued with right now.

When are we going to stop thinking in destructive unison like sheep stampeding over a cliff and call a spade a spade?

Things are pretty tough right now. No fuel, no light, crazy foreign exchange rates. Our morale is at an all time low. When are we going to start asking questions of our government instead of blindly following whatever directionless long term foreign policy our government is pursuing?

Most of us on nairaland are educated, let's try to be objective and analytical instead of arguing about frivolous and pointless party affiliations. Be unique, avoid herd mentality at all cost.

marriage today is a very very bad deal:

1. the system and courts have given women too much power in marriage.
2. what do I get in return for all the feminist clap trap, tolerating nagging, catty behavior etc
3. Most women today have been brainwashed to be independent.
4. Kids? From the way things are going in the world, apocalypse is nigh.
5. the women are not young enough.

I just dont see the benefits of marriage.

If I need a woman, I hire a personal support worker. It is the same thing. I can also hire a cook if I want someone to be cooking for me. Sex? Get a girl friend if not a christian or just bear the urge if a christian.
Your number 5 got me laughing. How young do you want them? By and large I agree with most of your points, marriage this days is beginning to look very unappealing to the self possessed independent male.

In the end the only sure bet is the fact that besides God the almighty, all you truly have is yourself.
Embrace this and watch your loneliness become your strength.

The problem with the human race is that we gullibly long for acceptance from our various relationships, but the million dollar question is this: have we fully accepted ourselves as individuals?
Judging by the kind of reasoning I come across this days, sometimes I wonder if being on a quest to self discovery is such a bad thing in the 21st century.
Everyday I see people go into relationships that are doomed to fail from the get go. People projecting their loneliness and insecurities on unwilling partners, which makes me wonder, when are we going to love being with ourselves, when are we going to stop jumping into relationships, friendships and marriages hoping to solve the age long problem of loneliness when maybe the divine created it to mold our subconscious into a firmer more self aware reality.

Love yourself,be at peace with your existence, enjoy your own company, and all other relationships will follow naturally. #developthecore

Why ave they decided to be puppets for these greedy politicians who mean nothing good but doom for them? Its clear these guys have no value for human life... Will you kill somebody if you were to make a million or two? The youth needs a change of orientation

PS. Stay the Bleep off my mention? Thats not gonna happen. You would have ignored my post if it is not meaningful.

1. People trek in the olden days, people trek now. Every trekin is for a purpose. But when the purpose you trek is a rare one that can not be embarked by anybody, it becomes a Dream.

2. You call them attention seekers. Did they get the attention? Yes!
Why getting frustrated over their achievement.

3. You have achieved some great feat. But it didn't get my attention. I celebrate the visible achievement. Being on the road for 19 days to fulfil an oat is an achievement.

Didn't get your attention because you are either a myopic retard (this I strongly suspect)
Or
You have the attention span of a 13year old (always on twitter or on facebook).

Sorry u.
They got the attention if it is what they want. It means they succeeded in what ever dream they had to embark on such journey. Dreams do come true.

What is your dream that you have realise. If you let frustration, you will only end up more disappointed when the savior fails.
Just my own thought.

1. Your thought is shiitte.
2. Trekking to Bayelsa is not a dream. Pre colonial Nigerians trekked from point A to B to get around back in the day and no one saw it as a dream, an achievement or a blimey goal.
3. A dream that I have realised? How the hell is that your biz?
I have sure achieved a lot more than trekking to Bayelsa with the hopes of gaining recognition or financial remuneration.

PS. Stay the Bleep off my mentions.

Sports / Major Football Rules When We Were Kids. by tempilo2k(m): 2:06pm On May 22, 2015
MAJOR FOOTBALL RULES WHEN WE WERE KIDS:
1. The fat kid was always the goalkeeper
2. The owner of the ball decides who plays.
3. Penalties awarded only if injured player curses a lot. (kaleee kaleee kaleee)
4. The match only ends when everyone was tired.
5. No matter how many goals u score, the winner will be determined by the last team to score.
6. No referee n lines men. u run with the ball even behind the goal post.
7. If u dont participate in repairing the ball u were given a match ban
8. If u're picked last, u're a loser.
9. The guy who's never picked was to fetch the ball from the tree when it got stuck, under the car or tunnel to play in the next game.
10. When the owner of the ball gets annoyed, game over.
11. You were allowed to change a goalkeeper in-case of a penalty only. (Change Keeper)
12. No half time, no glucose

tempilo2k: There was a time in my country when Armed Robbery was rampant and considered one of the numerous Crimes Against Humanity (Nigeria).

The Authorities took it seriously and so did the people. The Leaders saw this as an act which required the sternest punishment and in full public glare such criminals and those who flouted the law were special attendees in what became known as the Bar Beach Show. You are too young if you thought this refers to the television program with the late Art Alade as you were told by your parents.

Gradually the fear within the populace decreased and although the criminals got more creative and somewhat more aggressive, the awareness of extreme punishment kept many away from making a career out of Armed Robbery.

To take up a career in Armed Robbery now meant that you had no family support systems to warn you against such, you had a fatalistic sense of belief; you had an extreme feeling of hopelessness and desperation in the life you lived. You could not care less for your life and the lives of others. That self-declaration evidently in place, you went forth and terrorized the public ridding them of their properties and sometimes their lives.

Then the Right of Life Campaigners came to your rescue. They were ably supported by the latter-day preachers in support of you. They claimed that everyone had a right to live including you the Armed Robbers and that the Bar Beach Show was not a deterrent in any society. It was declared Barbaric, Senseless and Uncivilized. The Armed Robbers had bought reprieve along with the incentive to continue. Clones of Oyenusi and Anini & Co were back in business with little to fear and better armed.

Yes, the Bar Beach Show was Barbaric, but I liked it.
Yes, the Bar Beach Show was Senseless, but it was fun to see the teeming crowds each time.
Yes, the Bar Beach Show was unChristian-like, but I was amused to see them take one final look up at God wondering what this was all about.
Yes, the Bar Beach Show was Uncivilized, but, hey, this was my civilization not theirs.

I liked the Bar Beach Show.

Stained Poles.
Bullet-ridden Drums of sand.
Shredded Ropes that had recently tied down the buggers to the posts.
Deepened Footprints borne of fear as the rifles were lined up.

What a feeling it must have been for them.
What a feeling it was for me and many others.
Great excuse to skip school on those days.
To watch theirs end as they had ended those of others.

Many ‘ghastly heroes’ had theirs ended on those posts and on such days. Even those who had the most ‘sophisticated’ juju which aided them through their careers, realised the fallibilities of their juju-men.

Today the Right of Life Campaigners practice the same thing in their own civilized countries as a means of deterring crime even where such crimes were committed half-centuries ago. In some places they call this the Electric Chair, Lethal Injection or even the Genocide Trials at the Hague.

What a nice way to continue the Bar Beach Show.

Less gory, less dramatic and less noisy, but same outcome.
Get rid of the buggers who make mankind suffer because the world does not need them.
At the age of 85, for crimes committed when in your 30s, life imprisonment is the same as a Bar Beach Show.

Ask Saddam and his like. Who looks forward to such a day for themselves? Hence there are fewer than there could have been of his type in the world today. That is called Deterrence.

We are back to those dark days, Armed Robbers everywhere. On the Streets and in Parliament.

So. What if?

Just What if the list of crimes committed against Humanity (Nigerians) was to include the sheer rape of the nation’s treasury in record time and record volumes?

What if the ‘job’ of a politician was made so precarious that stealing on the job amounted to the resumption of the Bar Beach Show?

I wonder which of Donald Duke’s nice ‘Suits’ Onari would choose for him on the day.

I wonder which ‘Face Cream’ James Ibori would advertise on the day.

I wonder which ‘Moustache Trimmer’ Peter Odili would use on the day.

I wonder which patented ‘Lip-Gloss’ Oriji Kalu would pout his lips on, that day.

I wonder which ‘Barber’ Sani Yerima would finally engage his services that day.

I wonder which brand of ‘Lift’ shoes Nasir El-Rufai would select that day.

I wonder which ‘Manicurist’ Patricia Etteh would call on, that day.

I wonder if Atiku’s ‘Limp’ would suddenly desert him on that day or even which ‘Damask’ outfit Titi would chose for the cameras.

Finally, I wonder which young fertile, luscious-lipped, big-tongued, bootilicious and curvaceous relative Obasanjo would ask for as a last meal on the eve of that day.

While I wonder what the revamped Bar Beach Show would look and feel like, with these dapper thieves, I also wonder if politics in Nigeria would then finally become a job to serve the people and not rape them blind.
