Please nairaland help, i was employed last April to monitor sales and payments on line, but the job has expanded to where i also do monthly presentation. i was given employment later stating that after three months i will be confirmed and also get other benefits. this is close to six months now , each time i remind my manager he will be telling me that i have not convinced him enough and the MD knows i am really doing my job because that is where the money is coming from. but the manager makes it look as if my jobs is not important.

The manager keeps giving me task that i find difficult to do and use it as excuse. some of the task is to analyze data through excell, i tried but dont knw all. please advise me through jokkarm@gmail.com

From working experience, i am pretty sure even ur MD supports that Manager's action. Its a new trend and some of my friends have complained of such to me.

The fact is they love what u doing buh they dnt want to upgrade ur package, and i am very sure they dnt want u to leave, so the oga patapata(MD) acknowledges ur effort but immediate oga(manager) comes up with stupid excuses.

My Advise
Have a chat with the MD but be very wise and careful so it doesnt seem like u are reporting the Manager.

@ op, pls listen carefully and take the following steps.

1. Enter somewhere private and CRY very well,cry until u release all d hurt and tension through tears

2. Carry tissue clean ur face and package urself wella

3. Start sending out ur cv, housewifism no gud for u ryt now, becos frm now the new lady will be in competition with u and ur children for attention, so get a job so that u will be able to cater for your children

4. Draw close to God and pray for ur children and ur marriage. God is a God of second chance. PRAY FOR UR CHILDREN EVERYDAY. a lot of things happen in a polygamous family.

5. Cursing and all that wont solve anything. BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD. that is what the bible says , so pls hold ur peace.

6. Madam u sef bone, ignore his fone and activities because u will only end up crying.

7. Our mothers lived for their children, u are lucky u have 3 beautiful creatures to live for. Pls dnt give ur self hypertension. U never die and he is already marrying another wife..... imagine what he wld do if something bad happened.

8. Dress well amd package urself well. Make ur self happy. Sad face and brooding all day isn't attractive oooo

My friend, let me lend you my 2 cents! The reason many graduates are jobless is because they keep waiting for the perfect opportunity, yet missing the chance to improve their resume while the search continues. As a fresh graduate you have no experience, no workforce training, you are basically a liability. As an HR manager I would be very reluctant to hire someone without experience when someone with a few years of experience competes for the same job. Try not to look at it from the monetary aspect, I know everybody wants to make money but there are systematic ways of doing things. My first ever job was at a grocery store, it was depressing and unfit for a graduate like me but in the long run it helped me learn valuable skills which propelled me into a wonderful career in another sector. Whenever I hear stories like people searching for a job for 1, 2 or even 3 years I just shake my head, opportunities are there you just have to work towards it.

Yes its gud to start from somewhere but pls dnt call a fresh graduate a liability. Maybe less attractive to most companies due to training cost and all ,but pls dem no be liability.
Not every company or job is a gud starting point. Some jobs take all ur time, pay u peanuts, give u depression and will occupy ur whole life to a point whr u cant go for other interviews.

I read somwhr on dis forum dt a graduate's job includes flushing oga's poo all in the name of starting from somewhere.

Well for me, the fear of poverty brot out the genius in me ioooo. I was determined (*in kanu's voice) to get out of it by force ooooo. . If pikin taste real poverty ehn hin brain go set one tym! . Ask basket mouth and I go dye.

On a more serious note I believe both parents have a lot to contribute and environmental factors also. The deal here is that the way each child processes an environmental factor varies. Some rich kids get all the 'help' needed and still remain dull prolly cos They dnt see d need to work hard since they av got everything they need while some other rich kid use that same 'help' to give himself an edge in the playing field.

Some kids from very poor backgrounds see 'poverty ' as a limitation and they keep wallowing in it while another kid frm that same background uses it as a motivating factor(like moi)

Hmmmn my story is kinda different and very long


I finished service feb 2014. However during service I was working with a big IT firm as a marketing staff. The pay was 40k and the job was gud . The stress wasnt much cos the company knows that getting a client to successfully buy a product was a big deal ( most of our customers were banks ,some insurance companies sef cdnt afford the products). The job had a lot of swag, a car and driver at ur beck and call . This made my job search a lot easier as I could easily go out for a test or interview and den rush back to the office. If retained the company promised to increase my salary to 120k before tax. However as a career path conscious fellow I wnted to work with a financial institution (either bank or non bank)

Well this is whr my issue started ooooo


I am 27 and married and I knew dis cld discourage some employers(most firms ask for 26 max) but I felt graduating with a First Class , professional certification and a good test/ interview performance should make up for that.(I say this with all humility)

December 2013 I got an offer from a financial advisory firm blasted the test and interview and dey were really impressed. During negotiation I asked for 120k as a minimum but the firm was like they can only afford 80k,but that they will increase it after 3 mnths.
I went with the offer cos I felt working in am industry I loved was better staying on the marketing job.

Jan 2014 I resigned from the IT firm and resumed at the new firm immediately. The job was tasking as it was purely analytical but I still loved it and gave my best.

wahala started 3 mnths afta wen I asked for salary increase and d firm gave excuses but I still continued. 6 mnths into the job I asked again and d same excuse was given. That was when I decided to start luking elsewhere for a job. Then the firm was alredy owing Salaries and dey wld give all sort of excuses. Before I knew what was happening they were consistently owing 2mnths salary. To cut the story short sha, the firm tld me dey needed a temporary arrangement with me becos of cash flow issues (that I do not want to delve delve into).
I sed ok but please pay me the 2 mnths you are owing but d firm is giving me stories oooo. Neeways am bak sitting at home , but trust me I dey send CV like no man's business ,school ooo marketing ooooo all join at least until I get a job in d industry I want.

I jst hate being idle. Ryt now am reading and all.

lemme also mention that I can pray for hours now ooooo cos I need baba God on my side

Depends on the size if the farm, by this I mean the financial size. A small one shd be able to pay 80k or there about. For a standard one ur pay range shd be between 120 and 150. Did financial analysis for a firm like dt today and I pegged the farm manager's salary at 150k

If u want to apply , jst find a fidelity staff to sign on ur cv and write his /her staff number or the person should he/she should submit it for you.

This isn't abt perfection. I'm sure that role is for a graduate and if ur english is anything to go by ...............

This is the reason why people dnt bliv in our graduates anymore. This is a job forum not an entertainment one. A prospective employer could be lurking arnd

There is someone who cares about you more than you care about yourself.
He knows you are capable of handling this situation and thats y he has permitted it to be. I know this becos he specifically said he will not allow you to be tempted above that which you bear.

However if you feel this is too much to bear , share wit someone. If u need to let out tears then please do so.
