The most distasteful aspect of those takes is how they comfortably ignore the fact that United lost the Europa League final to Villarreal just the season before Ronaldo’s arrival.

I mentioned earlier, it’s not Bruno vs VDB, it’s Bruno & VDB.

Quite surprised how everyone got into a Bruno vs VDB argument.

If anyone gets benched, it’ll likely be for Eriksen (who hasn’t come anyway), and we’ve got a lot of games to play, so minutes will go round well.

Likely going to be Bruno & Eriksen with a pivot, or Bruno & VDB, or Eriksen & VDB.

It’s obvious why ETH wants FDJ so badly, to eliminate McFred. But if FDJ won’t come, we simply have to look elsewhere. Over reliance on one player is dangerous for a coach and the team.

So if a roll call is held for top EPL clubs to show their defensive midfielders, it’ll be like this:

Honestly, VDB wasn’t signed to bench Bruno. They were supposed to work together with a solid pivot behind them.

Things got to this point simply because none of McFred could handle the pivot role singlehandedly. The only person that could handle it was Matic.

But what we see in reality differs so much from what our rational minds think it would be.

LVG’s style was too rigid, which is why we had very high possession ratings with a lot of it in our own half. Bruno simply won’t have tolerated that, and considering how strict LVG is, he would have put him on the bench.

Bruno has done well for United, but that doesn’t make him immune to the bench.

Look, all fingers are not equal. Ronaldo has a standard of success and that standard is simply not being met by Man United. Let that player not named Ronaldo set his own standard of success first.

Look at the situation from Ronaldo’s perspective.

• United plans to use a 38yr old throughout next season as their striker.
• United does not have one defensive midfielder in the senior team.
• United has not replaced any player that left.
• United has gone from a Champions League club to Europa League regular patronizers.
• United used to play around 1st or 2nd position regularly, at worse, 3rd. Now, coming 4th is acceptable BeCauSe tHey aRe reBuIlding.
• One of UCL, EPL, and FA Cup used to be considered the minimum standard, now just any cup will do, no matter how small or flat it is.

With the way last season ended, one would think that United will go about their business vigorously this summer, but here we are.

When you’re obsessed with success, there are things you simply will not permit.

Talked about McTom’s challenge with the ball about two to three years ago on this platform.

His issue is a fundamental one and has very slim chances of changing. Tall players usually have a problem with ball retention compared to those closer to the ground. Fred has hope.

While City has two solid options for the same defensive midfield position in the senior team, Manchester United does not have one.

Let them keep begging FDJ who is already showing traits of an unserious player. His behavior in this transfer issue is giving Di Maria vibes.

The issue here is that this isn’t an anomaly. This is exactly how United goes about her transfers regardless of who the coach is.

Barca knows United is desperate for De Jong and will not budge.

United are digging their heels in because they know Barca is broke and need the De Jong money to complete the Lewandowski/Bernardo Silva deals.

Who will blink first? This is the most obvious deal in history as each party has a hand on the other's throat.

United has the advantage in this case, they just seem to not know how to use it. Not surprised though, considering how they’ve done deals in the past.
