chrisley024:Maybe or maybe not because I read that Liverpool haven't won against Southampton in the last four games. That Liverpool sharpness and fast pace weren't there. They were so sluggish and they were running as if some kind heavy metals to their legs. They were extremely lucky. |

Liverpool were very lucky to lose against Southampton by just 1 goal to nil. Liverpool were shocking in that match. Southampton were just cutting them open anyhow. |
MRTA7:Yeah, I agree. I posted it just to show how some stats can be deceptive cos it didn't put into consideration the situation of a team when the coach(es) took over the team. We can see the difference in SAF's first 100 games after the league was changed. At that time he has turned the team around. |
This was before yesterday's game Games won in first 31 as manager of @ManUtd: 20: Mourinho 18: Moyes 16: Van Gaal 15: Busby 14: Atkinson 12: Ferguson, Sexton

Manchester United have won their last 9 games in all competitions, their best run since winning 11 in a row in Feb 2009. (@OptaJoe) Mata has equalled his Chelsea goalscoring record (33) in 6 fewer games at #mufc (129 apps) [squawka] |
Oasis007:I decided not to respond when I saw that. It's going to be an effort in futility. Maybe approval has another meaning. |
Again on Herrera signing LVG: In his first United presss conference on Thursday afternoon, Van Gaal said: 'Shaw and Herrera were already on the list. I gave my approval because I like them.Meaning that if he didn't like them he wouldn't have signed them. The job of a scout is to discover football talents which a coach will either approve or dissaprove. Herrera: I’m grateful to him because he signed me and so gave me the opportunity to play more than 70 games, in two years, at arguably the world’s largest club. Those two quotes are in agreement and are from the main persons. The question is who do I believe? LVG and Herrera or www.theunitedpages.com? I choose to believe both LVG and Herrera. Why will i believe a site like www.theunitedpages.com which is ran by an individual who wants to attract traffic to his site? Bringing a useless site to prove that LVG didn't sign Shaw and Herrera isn't going to fly. You can believe whatever you read but posting it on a public forum will always be met with scrutiny. A site that even posted this conjecture: Jose Mourinho’s phoney war with United’s under-performing and over-grumbling stars is over. Battle lines have been well and truly drawn. We now know that these are all cooked-up stories which has no iota of truth. On the hindsight, Mourinho has been saying it loud and clear to everyone that he's not willing to sell anyone in January transfer window unless a player that wants to leave. I even saw this on the site: Founder and owner of theunitedpages.com. I mainly deal with the administration of the site but have provided some articles as well as the photoshop manipulations.Maybe someone can explain what that means to me. |
RooRuudRonSaha:You also forgot to mention that LVG lost 3 - 0 to Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton respectively. Out of the four times he played Swansea City in the EPL, he was able to win only once. Swansea, Westbrom, Norwich and Southampton that are not top teams nor title contenders all took their turns by beating us at Old Trafford. We lost a match we were leading by two goals to Leicester by 5 - 3. I don't even want to go to the shame Moyes put this club through. |
Ball-hog Ander Herrera has found space for himself in Manchester United’s midfield Every team wants their best players to see plenty of the ball. However, too much of a good thing can turn even the best of intentions bad. While the importance of Michael Carrick to Manchester United and their recent improvements in performances has been noted, Ander Herrera is another player whose presence is proving to be essential in giving Jose Mourinho’s team balance and Paul Pogba a stage on which to shine. Ander Herrera is more involved in Manchester United’s general play than ever before. On his return to Old Trafford in the summer, the Frenchman initially looked restricted by his status as the club’s main focal point in midfield rather than elevated by all the attention. It wasn’t stage fright that was holding him back, although the price on his head may have played a part. After moving from Juventus in a deal that broke all records to confirm Pogba as the most expensive footballer of all-time, there was a sense that the midfielder simply had to be at the heart of everything his new team tried to do, as if to justify his value, monetary or otherwise. Goals and assists – the most basic, reductive currency by which big names prove their worth on the pitch – are always harder to come by for a player in his position. In order to live up to the expectations set against him, it seemed that the 23-year-old was intent on taking too much on, and that too much was being placed upon him. He played as if he had to be central to every single move, the source of every attack and the protagonist of United’s every highlight. His billing, to some extent, demanded it. At Juventus he’d always shared the spotlight, and to some extent he seemed suffocated as United sent almost all of their possession his way. Paul Pogba’s record for chances created this season now compares favourably to his past years at Juventus, but that wasn’t always the case despite his increase in passes. The outcome was congestion rather than creativity, with players such as Claudio Marchisio, Arturo Vidal or Andrea Pirlo to keep the ball warm for him while he darted off to make things happen. Instead of “hold my beer, I’ve got this”, he had to run an obstacle course while holding a tray of drinks, and spillages were common. Jose Mourinho initially sought to pair the Frenchman up with Marouane Fellaini in a two-man midfield so as to unleash him from deep. The Belgian was to be both a protector and provider – of the ball, at least. In theory, while Pogba roamed free from deep, driving the team up the field with his dribbling runs from one box to the other, demanding the pass to dictate play, his more aggressive and awkward partner was to ruffle feathers and chase down opponents to deprive them of the ball, preventing them from playing through the middle. In practice, it was only partly successful. Marouane Fellaini was top of the table for passes attempted and completed after United’s first five games of the season. Fellaini looked rejuvenated in his new role. The added responsibility of keeping the ball seemed to bring out his best side for a time. United won their first three league games of the season, and even after their fifth the Belgian still topped the charts for passes attempted and completed. His completion rate of 90% was held up as an example of his new-found finesse under Mourinho, yet instead of helping to shoulder the burden for Pogba and allow him the freedom to dominate games, the Belgian’s quantity and accuracy belied the quality of his passing. Knocking a player for sending the ball sideways and backwards may have become a common ploy for dismissing the virtues of keeping it simple from deep. In Fellaini’s case however the criticism was correct. Pogba still had it all to do when it came to actually making something out of his team’s possession. United were created 10.8 chances-per-game with the Fellaini and Pogba partnership. They’ve created 13.1 with Herrera and Pogba in midfield together. If anything, the Belgian’s conservative nature with the ball at his feet only increased the Frenchman’s workload. He was a dead-weight against opponents United were meant to be dominating, forcing Pogba deeper and deeper away from areas where he could actually hurt the other side and play on the front-foot. By contrast, Herrera has so far shown himself to be capable of providing the 23-year-old everything he needs to flourish, while also contributing to creating chances himself. He can make a pass, keep the ball, put in tackles, cut out danger before it becomes a genuine threat and allow the France international to play the way he wants. Herrera, Fellaini and Pogba compared this season for passes and tackles. Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s belated integration into Mourinho’s first-team plans may have helped take the pressure off Pogba to be United’s match-winner for every occasion – granting him the opportunity to take on his role with more clarity, sharpening up his all-round game by removing the clutter from his duties – but it’s the Spaniard who’s given him the platform to step forward from deep to be the midfield front-man at last. It’s not just a solution that’s suited the Frenchman. Following on from his own arrival under Louis van Gaal in 2014, the ex-Athletic Club and Real Zaragoza playmaker found it hard to find a regular place in his manager’s starting XI. Herrera is top for defensive actions-per-90 minutes for United this season in the Premier League. Despite being the dynamic link-man in the thick of the 4-3-3 shape his manger eventually shifted to as United enjoyed their best run of form under the Dutchman, beating Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester City in convincing fashion between March and April 2015, he was dropped again the following season. Early on, he wasn’t inventive (or expensive) enough to be preferred to Angel Di Maria as his side’s chief creator, was too foul-prone and rash to play the holding role and seemed best suited to that position between the lines in a three-man midfield, that the former Bayern Munich manager seemed intent on dismantling in his second season. Herrera was the top performer for Louis van Gaal during his team’s best run in 2015 according to Squawka Performance Score. He wanted positional discipline, not a player who wanted to break through the lines at will. For the majority of his first six months at the club, Van Gaal benched Herrera for being too eager to close players down and break formation, to take a risk on attacking the ball and push forward in possession rather than holding his position and sticking to the shape. It’s these qualities that have since piqued Mourinho’s interest in using the Spaniard as a midfielder capable of winning a scrap as well as creating chances. Herrera is top of the pile for passes attempted or completed-per-90 minutes for United in the Premier League this season. No United player has made more tackles this season. He’s made more tackles-per-90 minutes than any other midfielder in the squad since his arrival two-and-a-half years ago, and now stands top of the pile for passes attempted and completed for the club since the summer. When Herrera plays alongside Pogba, even without the cover of Carrick, the Frenchman looks liberated by the Spaniard’s defensive work and his more positive range of passing. He’s not only succeeded in playing United’s new arrival into better positions from which to control games, but also, finally, carved a niche for himself in the starting XI. A full-strength United side can longer be imagined without him. Playing deeper, Herrera is creating more chances, passing over greater ranges, winning more headers and making more interceptions. There’s still work to be done, of course. Although he’s improved in his ability to sit back and hold his ground as well as hustle opponents in one-on-one confrontations, more wisdom, restraint and composure is required from the player charged with screening the back four and lying in wait as the master of the holding role. That could still come with time. Given his slight frame, his true size is often overlooked. Standing at six-foot, he’s lean but not weak and could be better equipped for the task at hand than first impressions may suggest. For now, the 27-year-old is making a difference as a problem solver slightly further forward, in a similar role to the one he played during Van Gaal’s mini-peak at the end of spring in 2015. Herrera is also currently making 1.71 fouls-per-90 minutes to just 0.25 for Carrick – he still has some way to go before he can step into his place. Herrera was once touted as one of many potential heirs to the throne of Paul Scholes. Yet as he drops further back into midfield to take on the role of being Mourinho’s first-choice No.6, he’s becoming more than just an enabler of Pogba’s genius. At a time when fans are becoming increasingly anxious over what may come to pass in a future without Carrick, the Spaniard’s final fate could lie in transforming himself into a viable, if not identical, replacement to the 35-year-old in the long-run. http://www.squawka.com/news/ball-hog-ander-herrera-has-found-space-for-himself-in-manchester-uniteds-midfield/869590 |
Most through balls completed in the final third in the Premier League so far: P. Pogba (6) Z. Ibrahimovic (6) K. De Bruyne (6) D. Silva (5) |
JayKayMaybachz:The bold isn't true. I saw some of his stats on skyports in about three or four weeks ago that he performs well against top teams as well. |
JayKayMaybachz:In "Up Barka" fans reasoning. International champion calling local champion his IDOL. Isn't that intetesting? |
This is for the Canopy Analyst. Herrera for 925 mins in EPL: Herrera's Premier League by numbers: 2 assists 14 chances created 30 clearances 39 interceptions 75 tackles 765 passes |

Diademk07:Who said this? This is just a simple sentence o. Diademk07:As a response to this tess1:Were you drunk when you typed that or was it that you didn't understand the sentence you typed? Whichever, I give up on you. I'm saving you from making more stupid and idiotic blunders. |
Diademk07: |
Diademk07:Lol! You are not intelligent at all. You think you are smart, whereas you are too dull. What about other players mentioned? Are you now telling me that Ribery and Lahm also played as the SS as you've claimed? Also, why did Ribery have the highest assists in the previous season? Did he also play as a SS or as the number 10? |
Diademk07:Vomitting rubbish again. I said he got dropped but you said no. What's the meaning of getting dropped from a team? It simply means you've been selected for some games before you're no longer selected. It may be 1, 2, 3 games or more. Thank God that Herrera and LVG were new to the club at that time. He bought him, played him in the first 6 or so games when he wasn't injured and dropped him because he felt that he doesn't fit into his team. I can't help you beyond this if English Language is your problem. That was how you said that Kagawa have two best positions. If you have problem with English Language, maybe you should be communicating in your local language. |
Diademk07:Your thinking faculty is so low as usual. You can't even comprehend that. That's to back up my point that the assist a number gets depends on the quality if the striker and the way the team is set up to play. Meaning that it is possible for a person who played as striker or inverted wingers or wingers to have more assists than the person who played as a number 10 in any team set up. |
Diademk07:I'm not surprised at this response of yours because you are so dumb to reason. I'll not go into that argument with you. Let me give you a simpler one maybe your dumb brain will be able to process this. In 2013/14 season, why did Ribery, Muller and Lahm had more assist in Bayern? Who played as the number 10 and how many assists did that person have? Also, why did Blaszczykowski have higher assists than your Kagawa in 2010/11 season? Stop disturbing my mention with your foolishness! Can you now see that you are the most idiotic person on this thread. If not, you wouldn't have typed that when you actually were the one who first quoted me to start all these. |
Diademk07:You are olodo rabata! In 2011/12 fabregas had 8 assists 2012/13 he had 11 assists 2013/14 he had 12 assists 2014/15 he had 18 assists 2015/16 he had 7 assists Tell me what happened to that stats despite him playing about 30 games or thereabout per season And Kagawa only played 1 game under Van gaal.. More so, that game only ended in defeat as soon as he left injured, he was our best player before he got injured btw.Why did LVG allow him to go if he so much valued him? Oh! I forgot that he didn't know he's a very good number 10 or centre midfielder. You are a dunce. |
Diademk07:Liar! Liar!! Liar!!! The more you try o cover your lies, the more your lies get exposed. Now, process the following and understand. Just like your god LVG will say "it's a process". Your lies will be busted now. These are the first 10 games of that season: 1st game - Aug 16 Man Utd v Swansea - Herrera played 2nd game - Aug 24 Sunderland v Man Utd - Herrera absent due to injury. 3rd game - Aug 30 Burnley v Man Utd - Herrera still out due to injury 4th game - Sept 14 Man Utd v QPR - Herrera played after his injury 5th game - Sept 21 Leicester v Man Utd - Herrera played 6th game - Sept 27 Man Utd v West Ham - Herrera played 7th game - Oct 5 Man Utd v Everton - Herrera dropped 8th game - Oct 20 WBA v Man Utd - Herrera played Your lies have been busted, right? We can now see that he got dropped and LVG made a public statement about why he dropped him. Your lies have no rival. The reality is the board gave Mourinho the power and backed him to bring the players he wanted but [b]Kante was never in his plan not until he saw the imminent Chelsea deal with Kante.[\b] That's who Mourinho is. The same man hijacked Willian from Spurs at the last minute. Same with Mikel and Pedro but his skimming sneatky move was too late with Kante..That's a total nonsense from you there. William wasn't in his plan and he went ahead and play him very well that season. You definitely don't know what you are typing. |
Diademk07:You are a complete lunatic. And you call yourself a football fan with what you typed up there. That shows you know nothing about football. Like I said earlier that it is the quality of the striker that determines the number of assists a number 10 gets which also depends on the way a team is set up to play. Read carefully and make sure you comprehend my explanation because your thinking is always a one-way traffic and your deductive reasoning is so poor. In 2011/12 season, Antonio Valencia had the hihghest assists for Man Utd with 13 and 4 goals. Nani also had 10 assists with 8 goals. I hope you understand this. If you don't take your time and read several time. Now, did the two played as our number 10? Who played behind our striker in that season and how many assists did that player had then? I can give you a whole lot of instances like that. I'm expecting answers to those question. I don't want your usual rhetorics. Once again, you know nothing about football |
Diademk07:Stop all these trash. Bring me your proofs that: 1. That Herrera's deal was almost done before Moyes was sacked. For now, I'll rather believe what Herrera said. 2. That your god LVG was actually interested in Kante. How can the board not be interested in a player that LVG and Mourinho wanted? Herrera didn't go straight into his team or he got dropped the same way Scheinderlin and Memphis got dropped. Maybe he didn't sign the two as well. |
Diademk07:See olodo. The number of assists a number ten has depends on the quality of striker you have in your team. So far this season, we've had about 106 or thereabout chances created but how many goals do we have to show for it? |
Diademk07:Lol! There can't be two best position for him. Which school did you attend? When it comes to your favourite players, it's excuses upon excuses. These same excuses goes for Herrera. He excelled in the position and he was sold off by your god. He couldn't stamp his authority under three different coaches at Man Utd and you call that "excelled"? |
Diademk07:You're the crazy one here because if you are not you won't be asking that question when you know that's one of the qualities of your god LVG. Was he not the same person who played the same Lingard as a number 10, Young as a striker and I think Mata as a winger? You are totally a confused man. LVG looking for pace in the midfield with his slow process possession football with more of backward passes, backpasses and square passes with little penetration. You definitely don't know what you are talking about. That said, how can you compare Herrera's situation to that of Kante. One had his signing almost completed under Moyes except for few paper undone compared that to Kante whom the board didn't even make any interest the moment Van gaal was sacked and Mourinho came in.There can be only a difference because of your continuous effort to say he wasn't your god's signing even after the player himself said otherwise. Show me proofs that Herrera's signing was done except for few papers. Can you just read what you typed? The board didn't make any interest in Kante the moment LVG was sacked! And Mourinho still approached the same player? So it's the board that'll tell the coach the player to buy even if he doesn't want the player. You must be an insider to know all these? And let me remind you that as soon as Mourinho was hired, he constantly stated that he only had 4 key signings to make, of which he already told the board. Why should they bother about Van gaal's interested signings when we have a new coach at the helm and he wanted something else. It's not like we had almost completed his signing like we did with Herrera. This guy don craze patapata. If Mourinho wanted something else, why then did he still approach Kante? Or are you saying Mourinho was after Kante and Pogba at the same time? I'm waiting for your proof(s) that Herrera's deal was almost done by Moyes. The other things you typed are just craps as usual. |
Diademk07:He has performed well in the no 10 where he came from but your god LVG failed to see that and also saw nothing good in him. Presently where he's being deployed he's performing his duty. He has only been played in two different midfield positions where he's performed well so far. If you see that as being a jack of all trade the Scholes and Pirlo are jacks of all trade too. Also, how many positions has your Kagawa played at Dortmund? He too must be jack of all trade. |
Diademk07:I'm also wondering where your reasoning was in other for you to know that the pace LVG was talking about was about Mane and not Kante. You went and brought a rumour that was said all because we wanted to play them. Come to think of it, let's agree that LVG has interest in him (which wasn't so), where then do we leave the fact that has been said by Kante himself that Mourinho actually spoke to him about coming to Man Utd? If LVG was really interested in him and has actually told the board about his interest in him, then there's no way he would've gone to Chelsea unless the guy actually didn't want to come. Example is Herrera's case before he was signed. This definitely shows that that news isn't correct. And I repeat there's no way for a consistent one man midfield machine as Kante would have underperformed under Van gaal. Bastian never did in his prime under Van gaal. So what are you talking about? The fact that your Herrera is full of shite and stunk the whole place with his shite doesn't mean Kante is an average player as Herrera is.Why was he then underperforming under Conte's 4-1-4-1? Kante cannot and will not do a midfielder's job all alone without assistance from a good midfielder. |
Diademk07:Meaning that Kante needs someone good to play beside him before he himself can function well in his natural position. Same also applies to Herrera. He can't be playing with your useless Fellaini and that lazy jogging Pogba and still expect to see the midfield play very well as a whole. You talk as if Kante alone can do the whole midfield work all alone without good midfield partners. Everywhere else? Has he played as a defender, striker or as a goalkeeper before? This is another lie. Lest i forget, if you call Herrera a jack of all trade because if the two positions he has played in, the players such as Scholes, Pirlo and some other players who have done same are also jack of all trade. |
elrony:Don't mind him. When I said it that the guy was the one responsible for Leicester's good defence last season, he was here telling us how good Huth and Morgan were. He's now double speaking from both sides of his mouth. |
