Diademk07:Vertical passes in defensive areas! Not different from the type our defenders made. |
Diademk07:Where did he open the opposition? In the middle of the pitch, in our own half or where? In one breath you said he makes vertical passes, in another you said he always tries to make vertical passes which is the reason he's often criticised for the poor passes he sometimes made which simply means those vertical passes were poor. This simply means most of his passes are not incisive but simple passes. Herrera still make more of those incisive passes than Fellaini. He has always been good at that and that's what reflected in his key passes and through balls stats during his last season at Bilbao. |
Elxandre:Exactly. If it were to be under LVG, Zlatan will still pass that ball back to Martial who was trying to draw away some players with his movement. |
Diademk07:Lol! If there are no mistakes in the game of football, how then will there be goals? Are players meant to just be moving the ball around without looking for who will make mistakes? Goals scored are mostly as results of mistakes. |
Diademk07:Hear yourself speak " he always tries to make vertical passes which is the reason he's often criticised for the poor passes he sometimes made" On the same person you said was making incisive passes to open opposition defence. How many games did we win with Fellaini under LVG apart from the late cup runs? Even at EURO16, the only match he started he was useless that the coach had to bench him in the remaining matches. Which pass(es) did he use to open up Bournemouth? All his passes have been safe passes that are not different from Cleverley's passes. Tell me how many long/ambitious passes he made in matches that will be incisive enough to open opposition defence. Also, why didn't you criticize Fellaini when he was useless against Leicester? Why didn't you bring out his match highlight as well? You're just a vindictive person. As for me in that game, the two of them complemented each other and they both played well. |
Vanquay16:So, when they were attacking Fellaini always hold back or what? He didn't even move beyond up to the centre circle to be able to make a key pass. Who was Herrera lofted a ball into the 18 yard box, who was he looking for if Fellaini was playing deeper? I can mention so many of that. They were both going forward and swapping positions. You said Herrera was often pressed but he was able to lay a through ball to Valencia to open up Bournemouth's left back. He was also able to make a pass to Martial which couldn't control well. How many key passes did Fellaini make in the match? |
Vanquay16:Stories. You can't even answer a simple question. How many key passes did Fellaini that played on the same level with Herrera played if you are rubbishing the only one Herrera made? You've still not answered the question. Show me where you 'bounced' on Fellaini in the Leicester game. |
Diademk07:And how many times have you given Fellaini the sticks? Why didn't people here gave him that stick after the community shield game when he was woeful? How many times has Fellaini outshone Herrera in the midfield? Apart from what Fellaini with his height, what else does he offer? There are even times when his height has been useless. Those are the matches when he starts using elbows to commit fouls. There are few games where he played well in the past three years he has been our player. Though, that may change under the current coach. There were tines you kept on mentioning Herrera only being able to make 1.6 key passes as poor stats. Even when he makes assist or scores you're still not satisfied. Thank God you are not our coach. |
Diademk07:And how many of the vertical incisive passes were ambitious enough? When Fellaini was woeful in his passes in the community shield, why didn't you bring out his video clip to show us how woeful he was? So many people here have said Herrera was good against Bournemouth but could better but you kept on saying he was bad. Same thing you've always said about Mata and some other players. I don't dislike Fellaini, likewise any of our player. But I'll always criticize any of the that isn't playing up to expectation. That's why I said all of them will have a fresh start. |
Vanquay16:Some people will just have cardiac arrest because of Herrera. And how many key passes did Fellaini make from same position? How was Fellaini's performance in the community shield match? I'm sure if it was Herrera who gave that back pass that Vardy used to score in the community shield your accomplice would've floored this thread with so much talk about how useless he was. |
Man Utd: Why £89m Paul Pogba deal is a bargain Manchester United paid a world record £89m to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus - a player they let go for only £1.5m four years ago. The deal has been cited as the final example of a sport gone money-mad, and described as former manager Sir Alex Ferguson's biggest mistake. But with the Old Trafford club expected to announce annual revenues of £500m next month, paying such a huge sum for a world-class midfielder they used to own could make perfect business sense. Because as a percentage of turnover, Pogba was a snip compared to the £155,000 purchase of Denis Law in 1962. Why Pogba deal could make sense United's commercial success has underpinned a vast growth in income since the Glazer family took over the club in 2005. And with global stars Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahmovic added to a squad managed by Jose Mourinho, that will only increase. "This is a new era on the field but commercially as well," said football business expert Kevin Roberts. Wayne Rooney's arrival from Everton for £27m in 2004 represented 17.2% of the club's overall turnover of £157.2m a year before the Glazer family takeover. Twelve years on, the cost of buying Pogba from Juventus is a similar 17.6%. Relative to the purchase of Law from Torino 54 years ago, and the £1.5m spent on buying Bryan Robson from West Brom in 1981, these percentages are small. Scotsman Law cost 61.4% of United's annual turnover of £187,178. In Robson's case the figures are 56.6% and £2.65m. A more compelling sponsorship pitch From £49m in 2005, the club's commercial revenue rose to £196.9 in 2015, a rise of 301%. In the same period, United's matchday revenue has increased by 31% and their broadcast income by 123%. United now operate a three tier system of sponsorship. The biggest deals are for shirt sponsorship and kit manufacturing. The second level are the global agreements with organisations such as EA Sports, who on Wednesday became United's official football video games partner, the third are regional deals which cover all manner of product areas, from financial services, to tyres and noodles. "If you are flogging sponsorship to Japanese noodle companies you really need to mean something to fans in a country that is 14 hours away on a plane," said Roberts, co-founder of Sport Business. "Manchester United's digital strategy allows them to collect massive amounts of data which can be used to sell to fans things directly to do with the club. Simplistically, it might be to ask whether people had thought about buying a new shirt for their birthday. "If you have data about people watching you worldwide, you can put together a more compelling pitch to sponsors and ratchet up the value of deals." United's carefully choreographed and branded announcement of the Pogba deal was as glossy as a multi-million pound advertising campaign, marking a new level in the evolution of the modern-day football transfer. "The thing we focus on is engagement," added United's managing director Richard Arnold. "The content and communication we have with the fans has to resonate, so it causes them to respond. That they like. They share. They comment. "That is as true of the fans in Stretford as it is in China." http://m.bbc.com/sport/football/37045474 |
How soon people forget games that they are now suggesting Blind as a direct replacement for Carrick in DM. Everton, Crystal Palace and I think Swansea in his first season should come to mind. Most especially the Everton away game where we were beaten 3-0. He was so sluggish in that game which Everton played on a high tempo. Immediately he's beaten, it's usually an expressway to our defence. He'll then be running like someone whose legs have been tied to something heavy. He'll be exposed in any high-tempo match like he has been before. We discussed extensively on this on those match days then. I can see so many of us here have forgotten that. Blind as our last midfielder cannot work unless his speed and his reading of the game have improved which I doubt. |

Why José Mourinho is totally correct in his decision to leave Bastian Schweinsteiger out of his plans "Over the last week, numerous reports have suggested Bastian Schweinsteiger has failed to impress new boss José Mourinho, leading to the German falling short of José’s preferred 26 man squad. The reports of the German’s unfavourable position at Old Trafford only grew when his brother, Tobi Schweinsteiger, tweeted ‘no respect’ on the day the story broke, suggesting the speculation of the mistreatment of his brother is indeed true. Of course, the English media snap up any chance they can to write derogatory headlines about José Mourinho, given his love-hate relationship with them, it’s hard to imagine otherwise. But, in this situation, I believe Mourinho is one hundred percent correct with his hardline approach. Louis van Gaal signed the veteran midfielder for a fee of £6.5million, a small fee for a man with such an illustrious career behind him, but the World Cup winner failed to deliver what was anticipated of him at Old Trafford. Injury-ridden, the 32-year-old only made 18 appearances, with most coming from the bench. On £200,000 a week, he was stealing a living as he spent half of his time at Manchester United out of England. His Spouse, Ana Ivanovic, has a peripatetic way of life due to Tennis commitments and Bastian often attended her matches whilst injured, including a trip to Miami back in March. Earning £200k a week to travel the world, watching a completely different sport to your profession, the German was making a mockery out of the club. Now that, Tobi Schweinsteiger, is showing a lack of respect. The journey of Luke Shaw springs to mind. Back in September, the 21-year-old broke his leg against PSV in the Champions League and ever since, the return to fitness has been his main priority and one in which he has now achieved. So much so, Shaw even dismissed the usual post-season holiday adopted by most players and focused on his recovery. Instead of this, Schweinsteiger continuously spent his days out of action back in Germany and only returned on match days, which was only because it was forced upon him by Louis van Gaal. In order to return amongst Europe’s elite, Manchester United need to stop being made a mockery of. Sir Alex Ferguson believed nobody was bigger than the club, and that’s how it should be. In recent years, some players have used the club almost as a stepping stone to their own ambitions. One Ángel Di María was the prime example of this and if that wasn’t enough, Sergio Ramos thrived off supposed United interest and later gained his main aim, a new contract at Real Madrid. If the addition of José Mourinho wasn’t a big enough statement that this needs to stop, his actions certainly are. Stamping his authority down with Bastian Schweinsteiger is only the beginning. Sometimes, especially in this situation, I wonder about the curious case of Manchester United fans. Agonised by the club under-performing, the thought of José Mourinho, standing in the Manchester United dugout before 75,000 fans was a godsend, something that dreams were made of. After two seasons of dismal football and quite pathetic results, anything was an upgrade on Louis van Gaal and his backwards passing. Now that the club has acted upon fans demands, some fans still aren’t happy. The fact of the matter is, that if Bastian Schweinsteiger had acted like he did last season under Sir Alex Ferguson, his treatment would have been far worse than he is receiving right now, and rightfully so. Bastian’s lack of respect & commitment for the club only warrants a lack of respect from José to him, whether he is a fan favourite or not, no player should undermine the club and neither should one be paid £200,000 a week to wish his team-mates happy birthday. In addition to Bastian Schweinsteiger’s lack of commitment to Manchester United, the addition of Paul Pogba would leave very little space for the German in terms of a position in the first XI, along with Fellaini, Mata, Herrera, Wayne Rooney, Schneiderlin and Daley Blind, who could be used as central midfielders, Schweinsteiger would find himself extremely far down in the pecking order, meaning his weekly wages would be a giant waste of the clubs funds. All in all, I, personally, would like Bastian to stay at the club, his CV speaks speaks for itself, likewise with his leadership qualities. But for someone with such low levels of commitment to a project that needs 100% effort and focus, if Mourinho doesn’t believe he provides what is needed to rise above the rest, back to the top, then he has to go, fan favourite or not." http://utdreport.co.uk/opinions/why-jose-mourinho-is-totally-correct-in-his-decision-to-leave-bastian-schweinsteiger-out-of-his-plans/ |
Rooney's agent. Paul Stretford: “Should @ManUtd want @WayneRooney to stay beyond 2019, I think we’ll be sitting down quickly & ensuring that will happen." |
SailorXY:Rooney: "Pass, pass, pass, and then eventually pass back to your goalkeeper? For a forward player, that gets frustrating." #MUFC Rooney: "Possession's fine, but it needs to have direction to it, and most times that has to be towards goal." #MUFC He knew that midfield was our problem and he bought Di Maria a record signing whom someone here said he didn't know his best playing position at Madrid only for him to sell him the following season. He had a better right winger in Nani, he sold him for nothing and also playing players oit of position. Does that show he knows what he's doing? He's just using trial and error to see what he can do to turn around the team. |
Ed Woodward is just trying to use this Pogba signing to make a statement. It's not about Pogba being worth that amount. Ed in 2014 “I want us to win. I want us to stop seeing the best players going to other clubs in Spain” https:///1dGmGwp3QH |
Debroslink:The problem I have with this is the big dish. How big is it? Installing such in a rented apartment will always be an issue. |
elampiro:I can't really say much about airtel because I don't use it. The little I can say is that my wife uses it on her android phone but she switch mostly to MTN to browse. |
elampiro:Like I said, it is epileptic in my own areas. Same thing in my village in Ogun state. MTN and ETISALAT are very fast and these are the networks I use most. I interchange the two based on their data pricing. The only day I enjoyed GLO was when I used it to upgrade my notebook to windows 10. It was like praying and fasting throughout the upgrade for it not to completely break. |
elampiro:I think it's Glo's pricing that's keeping other networks on their toes of bringing down their data prices. Only that Glo data is not fast in some areas. It is so epileptic in my area that I hardly finish the data at times. Whenever it is fast, no network can beat it, but when it decides to be slow, it can take a whole day for it to even open a page. |
Anthony Martial is the third highest shirt seller of 2015/16, behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. dopeJemi:Also following, the guy is just everywhere according to live reports. |
.@adnanjanuzaj came out to warm up but has gone back down the tunnel with a coach. Might have pulled up in the warm-up. (via @RobDawsonMEN) How'll this guy develop? |
Man Utd line up vs Wigan. Anybody watching should update us.

Diademk07:I'm just having the feeling that price is media price. I believe if we are getting him, we'll be getting him at a lower price. Just my opinion. |
Valencia and Blind recognised as midfielder in today's friendly match. Is this telling us that Valencia in particular won't be used as a defender any longer? Anyway, these are still friendlies.

Juventus director says they are ready for Paul Pogba and Leonardo Bonucci to join Manchester United and Chelsea http://metro.co.uk/2016/07/16/juventus-director-says-they-are-ready-for-paul-pogba-and-leonardo-bonucci-to-join-manchester-united-and-chelsea-6009829/ |
Raiola (Pogba's agent): “There is a lot of talk about Paul’s future, but maybe he will not leave Juventus. He is in no rush to leave, and Juventus do not want him to go. They want him to renew his contract. Paul is not desperate to move. We are very happy at Juventus and they are a club that want to keep their star players.” I hope this is true. In as much as I like Pogba to be in our team, the fee being bandied about is just too much that i don't want the transfer to go through. |
