It was in the news that Van gaal wanted Kante and the reason he stopped our interest in Renato Sanches until Mourinho came in and was all lovey dovey over Pogba.
Which news? LVG was never interested in Kante. Even if he had bought Kante, what guarantee do we have that the guy will perform under him?

Where was Herrera when Chelsea scored the 3rd and 4th goal? His positioning was awful which isn't his fault as he's no DM but where are the people that were wetting their pant over his new role? Also, he offered nothing creative in the role.
So, it's Herrera's fault for those goals. Where was Kante when Arsenal & Liverpool beat Chelsea? Whatever answer you've given to exonerate Kante is the same reason for Herrera.

The truth is Herrera is a jack of all trade, master of none, running around like headless chicken isn't the be all. Yesterday, he would run with the ball only to pass back or sideways when he could have made the ball do the talking and travel the long distance if he had a little creativity in his arsenal. Not to mention that he tends to wander around from his position and was nowhere to be found at the time Chelsea piled up the pressure!
Another lie ladden with so much hatred from the master hater.

He had 47 forward passes yesterday. So you saying he was passing backwards and sideways as if those passes were more than his forward passes is a lie.

I could remember when someone posted Fellaini's passes stats in one match where his backward and square passes were more that his forward passes, you kept quiet. Why didn't you also criticize him? Since yesterday now i've not seen anywhere you critisize both Blind and Fellaini's bad performances.
Creativity! At least he created two chances and was attempt some shots.

Continue wallowing in your hatred for him. It's your choice.

What if Kante and/or Mane got worse?

Wasn't Schneiderlin a top EPL player before he signed him?

I don't want to start listing players we thought were good enough Before they got signed.
You should've also asked him if LVG told him he was interested in Kante.

Nope, he really has a point, Herrera might not be world class as you want buh pairing him alongside Carrick with a top form Mata as 10 will offer far much better than ,with a certain Fellaini and Pogba as 10.

You and this your Herrera sha.. You keep forgetting that everyone was awful yesterday apart from Valencia..
What was Herrera's fault yesterday?

You were exonerating Blind from the first goal when it was clear that by him keeping Pedro on, he puts uneccesary pressure on the remaining defender. Chelsea mostly used the left back as our weak link but you didn't see anything wrong with him.

Was Herrera the one that told Blind to be making school boys mistakes or was he the one who told Ibra not to equalize, or was he the one that told Mata to lose Hazard?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by tess1(m): 11:08am On Oct 24, 2016
Mourinho needs to be bold enough to bench Pogba and IBRA. Yesterday's match shows that Pogba can't play in no 10. I can't just imagine a number 10 that couldn't create one chance in that match but was jogging lazily about the pitch throughout the match. That position should be left to Mata/Micki.

Ibra is now costing us from the front. Chances being created are being wasted by him. Rashford should be used as a striker or be put on the bench instead of turning him into something else. He needs to sharpen his striking skills in the striker position and not as a winger.

Carrick needs to come into that midfield to play with Herrera and Mata/Micki. Martial should be played regularly when he's fit on the left wing.

Rooney's pursuit had nothing to do with it - it was one of his conservative tactics against the top sides away from home.

And for the records, I never implied that the absence of a CF was a major factor to look out for if Mourihno decides to park the bus. The point is that the matches vs the top sides (away from home) which he decided to deploy that particular strategy, he was definitely parking the bus.

Against Spurs last season (away), he didn't play with a CF (Diego Costa sat on the bench for 90 mins) - i remember that match...

Yes, I think there was some kinda beef between the two (Diego Costa angrily threw a bib on the floor or something) and the Spaniard was on the bench again vs Bournemouth in the next game but you know the difference? He came on as a substitute early in the 2nd half.

It was a drab performance from both sides but it was pretty clear that Mourihno was the happier manager - his selection and substitutions during that particular game is a testament to that effect.
Good that you explained the reason for those matches. Yeah, they had a kind of beef when Chelsea played away to Maccabi Tel Aviv during the week in UCL. Also, Costa was not performing during that period which made Mourinho comment after that Tottenham match that Costa was even luvky to not have benched before then

I still believe that not playing a striker against us was to prove a point in pursuit of Rooney. I don't think he does that during SAF's era when he had a better h2h. Why then will he do that with Moyes?

AdisaOwala:
Lmao...

Prior to that game, he started Torres vs (Hull) and Ba in the next game (vs Aston Villa).

His pursuit of Rooney had nothing to do with his decision to be typically defensive against potential title rivals away from home.
Lol!

If pursuit of Rooney has nothing to do with his decision not to play a striker in that match, then kindly tell me any other match he played that season without a striker. Also, tell me any match in which he didn't play a striker till he was sacked at Chelsea.

Those stats are kinda redudant cos i remember that Moyes was even criticized for the team's cautious approach that day - this even makes it worse as Mourihno literarily parked the bus against a team that was managed by a timid rookie who was also afraid of losing.
Redundant? How? Moyes was cautious meaning he wasn't attacking while Mourinho was parking the bus at the same time with a team that wasn't really attacking? How did a rookie who was afraid to lose then attacked to make Mourinho park the bus. Also remember that he has a very good h2h against Man Utd. Lol! I give up on this.

Aha....

Mourihno had two centre-fowards on the bench and i think Demba Ba was a chelsea player at the time, yet he decided to start the game "Strikerless"

Torres came on...same way Azpilicueta & Mikel came on for Hazard and Schurlle respectively and you say he no park bus?
I don't believe he parked the bus. That's the time he was trying to sign Rooney. I believe he used that to prove that he didn't have confidence in the strikers he had.

That's the stats of the match. How can he park the bus with those stats? Can we equally say Pep parked the bus yesterday because he didn't play a known striker?

It that lackadaisical or disjointed performance that's causing me to worry. I don't understand how people analyse matches here. Sometimes I am just surprised that people are comfortable with how we play. We could have just left LVG if this was what we wanted. And nobody should tell me anything about new manager. We can't spend that much and still be praying for the player to adjust or fit in. Am just wondering what would have been our reactions if that Can or Coutinho ball went in. As in I don't understand when LFC became Barcelona or bayern o. That means if we wan play arsenal we go hmmm
Nobody is saying we shouldn't be worried about all the mistakes we're making. We still have to give the manager a chance or do you want him to be sacked right now?

I still dunno why you are always too quick to defend Mourihno untop this Bus-parking tactic when it's a Strategy that would always be synonymous with him.

Instead of the Examples you gave, i'd rather go with these Chelsea Games under Mourihno (during his second spell at the club)....

Vs Man Utd (at Oldtrafford that ended 0-0 in the 2013/14 season under Moyes). I remember Chelsea started that game with no recognized Striker yet Costa or Eto (cant really remember) were on the bench.

Vs Liverpool at Anfield (the Match wey Gerard's mistake cost him a PL title).

Mourihno made a defensive sub against 10 man Psg and Chelsea were still knocked out of the CL in that match
He didn't have any of the two in his team then. He bought Etoo close to the shut of the transfer window while Costa was bought the following season.

However, he had Lukaku and Torres whom he brought on in 60mins. I don't think you can say he parked the bus in that game.

I am not a Mourinho fan but you are wrong by saying we parked-the-bus against Watford and Feyenoord.

These are stats to put everything in proper perspective.

Away to Watford

40% possession 60%

10. Shots 15

5 On target 2

5 Corners 7

Away to Feyenoord

43 Possession 57

8 Shots 18

3 On Target 4

4 Corners 4

Now tell me how we're parking the bus.
If we are losing or drawing matches because we are not being clinical enough olin front of goal or making defensive mistake, it is quite different.

The match was even until Barcelona scored. In 2009 final, United dominated the opening minutes until Etoo dribbled Vidic for the opening goal, and it became one sided.

If you cannot punish Barca when you have the upper hand, then forget it. City forward players didn't appear to have a scoring sense. They needed to have played a real striker.

City were making useless short passes in their own third even when Barca pressed them for the ball.

I am tempted to ask, did Guardiola make Barca or Barca made Guardiola?
Did you see Messi's first goal where all the defenders switched off and ball-watçhing when Messi pushed the ball a little bit too far before running to hit the ball to score? Were they shifting responsibity?

Well if you say so. Fine. But pep is still untested.
People are really not addressing the real issue. They are really trying very hard to justify Pep's tactical blunder in tonight's game. If it were JM that did what pep did tonight, they would've spammed this section with story that he went to park the bus.

Pep went to Camp Nou to face a Barca team that has one of the best front three in football and didn't deem it fit to play a recognize striker or his best striker. A place he knows that chances will be hard to come by for that matter. To me, that's a tactical blunder. And nobody is really saying anything about that!

I'm quite sure that if he had started Aguero who is one of the best striker in the world today, some of the chances they created would've been converted.

KDB that he used as a false 9 was crossing the ball out for an invisible striker. He gave Man City no chance right from the beginning of the match.

Pep is good but he took Bayern Munich backwards since Jupp and is doing same with City in the Champions League. Attack wins you matches but defense wins you leagues. This is what is going for Mourinho and that's why most people here were crying over our bus packing at Anfield i laughed. Always learn to respect the better team and settle for a draw and play your life in the next leg. No baldiola Wan play barca style when we know Messi made him look like the best ever.
Just like JM went to Anfield knowing fully well that Liverpool's game is fast paced. He decided to set his team to play an open game in the first half and play a more defensive game in the second half to get a result. Some opposition fans started saying he's packing the bus.

One even went further by spamming the sport section with Man Utd having 34% possession for the first time in ages forgetting that it's results that matters, not possession. Last season when we were having so much possession, where did it get us?

I could also remember three seasons ago on Real Madrid's way to win the UCL when Carlotti was their coach(if I'm not mistaken). They went to Bayern and surrendered possession to Bayern and beat them by 4 nil with only 31% to Bayern's 69%. Nobody said Carlotti packed the bus. Today who remembers such possession stats? But we'll forever remember the result and the eventual cup won by Real Madrid.

As far as I'm concerned, it's superioty of coach's tactics that matters so far it brings result. Different tactics for different games.

Results are the most important thing in football no doubt, and titles are the ultimate deciders at the end of one's coaching or playing career; but I'm someone that praises a player or coach when he's doing something right irrespective of what transpires at the end.

I've watched the previous 4 meetings of Barca-City, and before Bravo's madness, this has been City's best display for me. I expected the usual annihilation of City but they proved me wrong. It's not surprising that Guardiola refused to renege on his principle of attacking football. Individual errors might have spoiled their plans this night, and I don't know if City will become great under Pep or not; but one thing I know is that Pep is coach with a vision and tactics like no other presently. And if he happens to get things right at City, I'm afraid of what UnitesUnited vs City's encounters will be.
Pep going to play tikitaka with Barca at Camp Nou is always a suicude. No matter how good played today, they'll always make errors. Barca's kind of tikitaka always thrive on these little little errors and they have a front-three that'll always punish teams for such errors. Can you compare that to Man City's? It's not as if Barca also won't make errors as well but who are those strikers that'll punish such when he played without Aguero/Nacho who can punish them for theirs most especially after their two of their back four was out.

Fellaini better than Herrera in number 10 or what? Under your canopy? What did Fellaini contribute in number 10 under LVG other than the elbowing and headers which at some point wasn't useful in the attack? When he was used as one of the pivot, how long did it always take him to make a 180 degrees turn? And how many back passes did he make?

Fellaini can and will never be better than Hererra in number 10 position. He only has aerial threat and nothing more.

Square passes. 9

Backpass. 1
