ihedinobi2: Please do what? ihedinobi2: Why would I be? If I provided an authority that said that religions are not would you be satisfied that they're not? |
AlfaSeltzer: Trying to get to know you more, that's all.*sighs* |
AlfaSeltzer: What's the name and who will be there with you? Tell me about it.Ok...what's the deal? I'm not in the mood to play this game. What's up Alfa? |

kaboninc: I honestly respect your experience and I go with it too. However, I've come to realise that the only weapon against fear is actually fear.If the son had been a daughter, would it have played out the same? Where did this happen? If it had been a female child would the neighbors have even bothered to intervene, or would they have taken her aside and advised her to pray for her father. Maybe even tell her to think about what she is doing to bring this on herself? Surely he is justified...it must be something she has done? |
kaboninc: And a man that never beats you before marriage but later on turns your home into a wrestling theatre nko? Bike your reasons have k-legs.You just don't know it yet. SMH |
Kay17: Not quite a long story. I was originally a Christian, but once I adopted an healthy skepticism towards my religion, it fell apart in pieces. Of course, the change wasn't mild but a fundamental change in my outlook on life. Was it difficult to give it up completely in the beginning? Were you completely converted at any time? Did you ever wish you hadn't started down the path of doubt? Did it feel lonely at first? |
isobel: I've been dating my fiancé for four years and we recently got engaged. In the second year of our relationship we had an argument and he beat me. I forgave him and he never laid his hands on me since then. However, he threatend to beat me a couple of times when we had heated argument but never did. Apart from this, he is like an angel. very attentive and caring. My dilemma now is that a couple of people have told me 'if a Man ever lays a hand on a woman she should not marry him because he will eventually turn out to be violent and a wife beater after the marriage'. I've developed cold feet since then and I'm beginning to have second thought about the marriage. Should I marry him or not? Please read the bolded over and over again. I hope if you do, you will see what I learned the hard way. Once a man beats you and you forgive him, he doesn't necessarily ever have to beat you again. The threat is enough. The fear of that happening again is enough to keep you under his thumb for the rest of your life. You may not even realize how he has manipulated you into submission yet. At first things will be wonderfully, but slowly "you" will disappear. One day you will look in the mirror and see the timid, frightened creature you've become at his hands. You'll notice how you and your children tip toe around him to avoid making him angry. You'll notice how you tense up when he starts to get mad. You'll feel helpless as he transfers his anger to your children. Fear is the most effective tool a bully has in his arsenal. Physical proof of what he can do to you is only necessary when you forget it. In between, the "threat" of violence and the memory of it, is enough to keep you in check. |
stormybucci: lastly number 5Is he licking her face? |
Kay17: Because the average Christian is superstitious. Religion is a form of superstition, so it is not unusual for Uyi Iredia to experience seizure like reactions and want to believe it is a religio-spiritual communication. What is your story? Do you have a deconversion story? You never give anything away, which makes me want to hear the story even more. Hmmm |
automobile antireligious sacrilegious |
BananaBender: Why do you think it's a thing of a pride for someone to e-mail you?? You act like a naive little girl suffering from terrible case of acne. Thanks Ummm...hmmm. Your dp? |
Ubenedictus: i actually took the liberty of reading the article in ur link.Okay O... ![]() |
Ubenedictus: i thought you explained on that thread that arrogance is an exalted idea of ones self...i'm not interested in exalting myself.... The post you quoted hardly displays arrogance. Ubenedictus: actually you can be very wrong, because your interpretation of scripture is still fallible. Infact the stuff u think u see may just be because you didn't study well or due to your own innate prejudice. The arrogance I refer to is the fact that you claim your interpretation is the "right" one, while you claim his is "fallible". You go so far as to say he didn't study well, and his interpretation is due to his prejudices. So basically, you are right and he is wrong. I think this is the "arrogance" you were trying to get at in that thread. It is the the thing that bugs me most about all religions. The attitude that, "We know the truth, and everyone else has it wrong." Maybe it's not arrogance. Perhaps impudence is a better word. |
Wow... Story of my life. @ eleojo23 I'll try to work up enough courage to share. |
Divepen: Vantee20, where have you been. He's a difficult guy to keep up with. Isn't he? |
