I'm perfectly aware of what I said, tex, thank you. Since you've taken it up, was that an offer? Or was Kay17 attempting to wriggle out of a tight spot by pretending to an offer?
probably setting you up for something.

asalimpo: Any1 jumping to conclusions in a one-sided argument is a unwise.
The basis for judging cases is to hear from both parties.
The poster said she was beaten. What did she say/do to warrant d beating?
She greeted the man and he started beating her? No.
What did she say?
Beating is an expression of anger . There must b sufficient provocation for anger.
Women, plead physcal weakness ,but tongue wise they can set a city on fire? They kill their marraige with their parrot tongue.
While blows end in skin,
words sink into hearts, into souls, they shatter self esteem and ego, they reinforce a lie. A single word can wreck sombody's life. And WOMEN hav so much capacity to afflict damage thru words.
Let me giv you an example:
i was at a bus park wher the loaders were loading a bus for travel.
Passengers were charged accordg to their luggage weight.
A haggle ensued with a female passenger and the loader and just like tht out of d blue she fired a verbal missile. The loaders reaction changed so much that he pulled her items from the top of d vehicle, threw it down, and insisted tht she was not going to travel in tht bus.
People began to gather.
What did the woman say?
The point is what reaction did her words cause? With just a spoken word the atmosphere got charged with anger. Would you blame the loader for reacting so?
No!

She said the loader brought the problems of his house to the park
that morning. Thts why he's charging her so"
stinging words!
Do men talk to each other so? No.
Men pals rarely abuse or sting but women do.
even the bible recognises the havoc women can b with their tongue.

*
A foolish woman tears down her house (with what? Words)
. ...
*
*it's better to stay on the roof than share a house with a nagging woman. *

some women hav given their husbands high bp.. Som men are in torment in their marraige - theyre just bearing it silently.
When they react violently, its usually at breaking point. All d world hears about is their reactions - never the cause of d reaction.
So basically you are saying she probably deserved a beating.

honeychild: @Uyi
I would suggest you lay a strong foundation for your Christianity. Study your Bible. A faith based on your personal experience is shaky. Personal experience can be manipulated by others....our senses can be easily deceived.

That's why I was so excited about your Bible reading posts...Please go back and study. A faith based on the clear understanding of the simple truths in the Bible is not easily shaken.

kaboninc: I honestly respect your experience and I go with it too. However, I've come to realise that the only weapon against fear is actually fear.

There's this story that is said of a young guy and his old man. The father I'll say derives pleasure in 'bullying' not 'discipline' his son to the extent that every passer-by would hear the wails and pleas of this son to his father. Sometimes, neighbours will interfere and other times, the 'beating' is till dawn! This ultimately kills the boy's self-esteem among his peers.

So one day, when the father wanted to start the usual drilling, the boy told the father he'd help shut the door and ensure nobody comes in! Imagine.

It happened that this guy beat the hell out of his father worse still, the neighbours were laughing and till this day, the tide has changed .

So you can actually get used to the 'fear' and make him understand that you can also be feared.
If the son had been a daughter, would it have played out the same? Where did this happen?

If it had been a female child would the neighbors have even bothered to intervene, or would they have taken her aside and advised her to pray for her father. Maybe even tell her to think about what she is doing to bring this on herself? Surely he is justified...it must be something she has done?

Am not a woman-beater oh but sometimes, maybe once in a while, 'some' ladies need one or two SLAPS!
You just don't know it yet. SMH
Christianity EtcRe: From Christianity To Deism And Back by texanomaly(f): 7:31pm On Sep 18, 2014
Kay17: Not quite a long story. I was originally a Christian, but once I adopted an healthy skepticism towards my religion, it fell apart in pieces. Of course, the change wasn't mild but a fundamental change in my outlook on life.
Was it difficult to give it up completely in the beginning? Were you completely converted at any time? Did you ever wish you hadn't started down the path of doubt? Did it feel lonely at first?
RomanceRe: He Beat Me. Should I Forgive Him And Stay by texanomaly(f): 6:34pm On Sep 18, 2014
isobel: I've been dating my fiancé for four years and we recently got engaged. In the second year of our relationship we had an argument and he beat me. I forgave him and he never laid his hands on me since then. However, he threatend to beat me a couple of times when we had heated argument but never did. Apart from this, he is like an angel. very attentive and caring. My dilemma now is that a couple of people have told me 'if a Man ever lays a hand on a woman she should not marry him because he will eventually turn out to be violent and a wife beater after the marriage'. I've developed cold feet since then and I'm beginning to have second thought about the marriage. Should I marry him or not?
Please read the bolded over and over again. I hope if you do, you will see what I learned the hard way.

Once a man beats you and you forgive him, he doesn't necessarily ever have to beat you again. The threat is enough. The fear of that happening again is enough to keep you under his thumb for the rest of your life.

You may not even realize how he has manipulated you into submission yet. At first things will be wonderfully, but slowly "you" will disappear. One day you will look in the mirror and see the timid, frightened creature you've become at his hands.

You'll notice how you and your children tip toe around him to avoid making him angry. You'll notice how you tense up when he starts to get mad. You'll feel helpless as he transfers his anger to your children.

Fear is the most effective tool a bully has in his arsenal. Physical proof of what he can do to you is only necessary when you forget it. In between, the "threat" of violence and the memory of it, is enough to keep you in check.

Kay17: Because the average Christian is superstitious. Religion is a form of superstition, so it is not unusual for Uyi Iredia to experience seizure like reactions and want to believe it is a religio-spiritual communication.

The human capacity for drama is unprecedented among all life.
What is your story? Do you have a deconversion story? You never give anything away, which makes me want to hear the story even more. Hmmm

Ubenedictus: i actually took the liberty of reading the article in ur link.

Not much difference in what is written there from what i see different christians profess daily (the main difference will be the belief that divine revelation is continous).

While i may one day be interested in the specifics of the terms used above, for now, i'll simply say in the most general sense i agree with the post above. If we put all our teaching into practice maybe the world world be a better place.

Ubenedictus: i thought you explained on that thread that arrogance is an exalted idea of ones self...i'm not interested in exalting myself.... The post you quoted hardly displays arrogance.
Ubenedictus: actually you can be very wrong, because your interpretation of scripture is still fallible. Infact the stuff u think u see may just be because you didn't study well or due to your own innate prejudice.
The arrogance I refer to is the fact that you claim your interpretation is the "right" one, while you claim his is "fallible". You go so far as to say he didn't study well, and his interpretation is due to his prejudices.

So basically, you are right and he is wrong. I think this is the "arrogance" you were trying to get at in that thread.

It is the the thing that bugs me most about all religions. The attitude that, "We know the truth, and everyone else has it wrong." Maybe it's not arrogance. Perhaps impudence is a better word.
