Events / Wedding Guest Ettiquete (part 2) by Teymini(f): 2:42pm On Oct 19, 2021
Wedding etiquette refers to what is typically “expected” at a wedding, either from the host or the invited guest.
wedding etiquette does not necessarily need to be strict, that can feel outdated and overly formal, that’s not the type of wedding anyone would love to attend! It's just a basic ettiquete that can help the couple and their wedding guests enjoy the day.

PS: Have you seen this first session of this write up? Well,do well to check our previous post. You can’t afford to miss it so much to learn!

Attend every second of the wedding ceremony;
The norm in Nigeria is that wedding guests skip the church ceremony and just go to the reception event as they never want to sit through that long religious ceremony. This is not an ideal practice though, as the couple who sent you an invitation expect you to join them for the full experience. The church wedding and reception go hand in hand.

Refusing to participate
Do you know lively guests make the MC’s job easier? Especially when they’re eager to participate in the games and keep the party going. When everyone is on their phones and there’s no response, it’s boring. Sometimes it’s not the MC’s fault. So be fully involved in the reception activities ...

Loudly demanding for food (like I don't get this ‍♀️)

Yes, we get it, you’ve not gotten food, calm down already! Don’t go to the couple to complain that you haven’t eaten, there are people in charge of those things. Moreso you can call the attention of the server to your table in a polite manner. it is not bad you eat from home before attending an event, no matter how little... Incase you'd go hungry before reception.
There's a form of composure required of you in an outing you know

Photobombing official photos
When the photographer is doing his job, stay out of the way! Wedding guests sometimes barge into the frame and ruin a perfectly good picture. I know you'd like to take the video for the grand entrance however ensure it isn't affecting the photographer.

Is there any other thing you thing should be added, please do comment and let's learn together...

Just a subtle reminder that we're still in the business of birthing forthe your event dreams and fantasies. At Doron International, we're called minister of events because we're good at what we do✌️. Yes, we really are

Events / Wedding Ettiquete You Need To Know About! (part 1). by Teymini(f): 4:44pm On Oct 06, 2021
It’s an honour to be invited to a wedding and know that a couple wants you to be part of their celebrations. But accepting your invitation brings responsibilities with it as well, and we’re not just talking about buying a wedding present. You need to do your bit as a guest to make sure that the bride and groom have a day they’ll remember for all the right reasons and this brings us to this subject"Wedding Ettiquete".
Wedding etiquette refers to what is typically “expected” at a wedding, either from the host or the invited guest. Here are some of the etiquette expected from a wedding guest ;

Do respect the seating plan
You may wonder why you’ve been put on a certain table with a load of people you don’t seem to have much in common with but the event Cordinator will have thought carefully about the seating plan and there’ll be a reason for it. And if there’s a seating plan at your actual table then stick to it; don’t swap the place cards to sit next to somebody you fancy. Sorry, but you really can’t.

Do not bring a Plus One on your discretion
Unless there is a crystal-clear ‘plus one’ addendum on the invitation, please do not come with anyone else including your boyfriend, girlfriend, bestie or child. The couple makes their budget and plan according to the invitations sent out and affirmed, and so, bringing extra people just makes things a lot more difficult as regards seating and catering so help the couple by abiding with the mode of the event.

Take a gift to the wedding
The norms for Naija Owambe is to go to the wedding, dance, eat and go home. Unless they are related to the bride or groom, they hardly attend with a gift. A few , especially those in Lagos, justify not gifting the bride and groom with the excuse that they paid for Asoebi or they will spray cash on the dance floor, but should that suffice? Unless the invitation specifies “no gifts”, it is important that you take a gift in honor of your invitation.

Go easy on Souvenirs!!
Souvenir time is always a bit chaotic in Nigerian weddings. No matter how negligible the package or empty the goodie bag, wedding guests tend to see it as a gold medal and go extra lengths to secure even more than one for themselves. Some people even now take some part of the decoration, like a floral arrangement or centerpiece on the table, home. It is important to note that weddings are not a grab and go opportunity. Wait for your turn when souvenirs are being distributed.

I know I'm shaking some tables .. Well expect more tables in our next post. I still remain your favourite event planner ✌️

Are you need in of an expert for your next event? Well, That's our area of specialization. At Doron International, we love to give you memories with a lasting effect 08032577415.

Events / 2021 Wedding Trends You Need To Know About! by Teymini(f): 2:13pm On Aug 19, 2021
2021 Wedding Trends:

wedding is a celebration of love and happiness of lovers preparing to start a new phase of life as a couple and this is something that is shared with family and friends. the trends and fashions in celebrating your big day change every year.
Every new year comes with new engagements, new seasons, new fashion and décor trends.. So Tribe, Get inspired with our comprehensive guide to the year’s most aspirational wedding trends

Let's explore

Weekday Weddings
weddings outside of Saturdays is a trend that will certainly rise in 2021. "I see and hope to see more wedding celebrations during the week from Monday through Thursday,"A good benefit of Weekday wedding is that, You may have had your heart set on a particular venue or vendors whose prices on weekends are beyond your budget due to competition Weekdays can provide a way to get it at an affordable rate. If you plan to restrict your day to a particular circle of people then a weekday wedding will provide you such. And know, your family and friends will and should support you no matter what day you choose."

Intimate events
One of the big wedding trends of the season is for more intimate ceremonies. Also known as ‘micro weddings’ these occasions tend to have a smaller guest list . Inviting all and sundry to your big day is no longer the trend due to the outbreak of Covid-19. People have tasted intimate weddings and they're not willing to let it go..

Micro weddings are defined as those with a guest list of up to 30 guests. Whether it's due to budget constraints, or simply wanting to scale back to just the few family and friends the couple can’t live without, the #microwedding will be huge in 2021. Most importantly of all, they also allow the bride and groom to spend quality time with each and every guest. Allowing them to spend their budget more lavishly on a smaller group.

Improved Decoration
Tabletop details will become more intimate, personal and elaborate,"
As for lightings : There's more overhead and professional lighting.
Photographers also have a space where they set up in the event venue for a professional wedding pictures instead the usual photo area we used to have.
The use of latest balloons
The Grande entrance now is really made distinct for the couple. It can also a second entrance from the main entrance. The interesting part is the recent event hall been built now made a provision for such entrance.
A Focus on Florals
A 2021 floral trend to arise is a pure focus on voluminous floral arrangements that are equal parts breathtaking and sentimental. "Part of the 2021 wedding trends is going really deep on the details, "People will go bigger in smaller ways." Such a statement most certainly applies to floral arrangements.

About the Bride:
In the previous years flowered bouquet as the on flick and 2021 comes with a dry flowers bouquet.
And for the wedding gown we see more of satin and silk gown with less of lace material as a wedding gown.
This particular one has been for awhile and it's becoming more popular in 2021 which is bride and bridesmaids choreography.

Something Spontaneous/Surprise
There will be rise in creativity of event Planners this year. New effects, spontaneous activities, and all forms of surprises for couples from their favourite celebrity, Influencers, mentors they really admired.

Technology in Weddings
Whether it's attending a zoom party, sending e-vites, shooting your engagement shoot virtually (yes, really!) live-streaming your day, viewing venues virtually, or attending virtual bridal appointments, technology will play a pivotal part in 2021 weddings.

Destination Wedding :
Destination wedding getaways are certainly remaining popular but as of more recently couples are beginning to combine their magical moments into one extravagant trip abroad. Logistically its perfect, all your loved ones in one place enjoying a dreamy destination with countless celebrations.

Wedding Hashtags :
One social media trend that is not going anywhere is #WeddingHashtags. A great way to compile all the photos, videos, stories & tweets your friends and families post during your wedding, they’re now a fabulous way for your guests – who can no longer travel to your wedding – to follow along with the celebration.

And finally :
Trends are great for ideas and seeing what others are doing, but make sure you do things how you want still you can make it special and personalised.

Whatever the trends remember this is your day, so make it your own and make it how you want it, don’t worry about what’s popular and what others are doing. Wedding Trends is a great for ideas and inspiration, but make sure you do it your way.

Events / Why Akwa Ibom Bride Uses Umbrella? by Teymini(f): 2:17pm On Aug 06, 2021
Have you ever attended any traditional marriage in any of the tribes in Akwa Ibom State? Did you notice the elegantly colourful umbrella carried by the bride or her train? Ever wondered what the umbrella represents?

First of all, their seems not to be any traditional significance attached to the bride’s umbrella. It is typically there as an accessory. That said, the umbrella as we all know gives shade and covering from both the rain and the sun. So, it would be safe to say that these embellished umbrellas are used for the purpose of protecting the bride from sun.

Another reason brides use an umbrella is for the sheer sense of style and elegance it adds to their accessories. The umbrellas are usually same colour with their outfits and accessories which make an elegant ensemble to behold.

Since the inclusion of umbrellas by Akwa- Ibom brides became trendy, no bride of that tribe wants to be left out hence it has become their signature

Are there other reasons you think an Ibom bride carries the umbrella? I would love to hear from you.

The general assumption is that all nations wear this ring the same way but not exactly! The people from Canada, US, UK, France... and of course Nigeria wear the ring on the left hand while those from Russia and Indian wear it on the right hand.

Events / Help! My Chief Bridesmaids Isn't Performing Her Duties! by Teymini(f): 1:50pm On Jun 16, 2021
Help! My Chief Bridesmaids Isn't Performing Her Duties!

Behind every great wedding is a dedicated group of people working hard behind the scenes to make it all happen. They don’t get paid, it’s not their day job, and they do it purely out of love, excitement and support for the happy couple. Yep, it’s time to talk about your all-important wedding party!

Let me tell you a short story;
Before venturing into an event planning business I attended a family friend's event as a wedding guest. Personally, I'm a very observant personality so I kept looking at the bridal team one thing I noticed that kept me curious all through the event is the bride! She looked really worn out and exhausted on her D - day! One minute you see the bride and few minutes later she's gone to attend to other things.
The funniest part is the MC have to make announcement for the presence of the Bride when it's time for the couple's dance and she wasn't on seat! Just imagine... I really pitied her that day but I was helpless... To my surprise, i noticed the chief bridesmaids and other bridal team has been on seat, eating and enjoying the atmosphere , looking peng and not exhausted like the bride.

Let me tell you this here ; '' Every event needs a planner''. An event planner is not a luxury to your event!

The wedding squad, bridal party/train, the bride tribe, the entourage, whatever you choose to call them, each member of your wedding party plays a significant role in both the lead up to your day and the running of the day itself. So it’s important to acknowledge the different roles they are going to play throughout the whole experience.

Today, I'll be sharing the duties of a chief bridesmaids. Stay tuned to our content this is '' #Gistwithdoron✌️
Maid of Honour
Also known as your right-hand woman and wedding sidekick, your maid of honour will probably save you from tearing your hair out on more than one occasion! Whether it’s your sister, cousin or closest friend, your maid of honour is there to be your support system during the lead-up to your day.

The title ‘maid of honour’ refers to an unmarried woman, so if your right-hand woman is already married then her title will become ‘matron of honour’. Some brides choose to have both a maid and matron of honour – the choice is completely up to you!

The maid or matron of honour is generally deemed responsible for the following:

Before the Wedding:
Providing general assistance and advice when it comes to wedding planning decisions.
Being responsible for the duties of your bridesmaids. She can also delegate tasks to your bridesmaids and oversee any decisions that the group needs to make, like bridesmaid dresses and accessories.
Taking charge of planning any pre-wedding events that involve the bride, like a bridal shower.
Being involved in your dress hunting experience and joining you at bridal boutiques and gown fittings. Expect tears from her when you find ‘The One!’

On the Wedding Day:
Keeping you relaxed and helping to calm your nerves!
Being the emergency contact number for any wedding vendors to call with any problems, and communicating with them to solve last-minute dramas especially if there's no event planner for the event . Basically, making sure you are completely oblivious to any hiccups that might be happening and helping to resolve them!
Holding your train and veil if required as you walk down the aisle.
Holding your bouquet during the ceremony proceedings.
Signing your marriage certificate as a witness.
Checking your hair and makeup throughout the day and fixing any lipstick smudges or stray hairs!
Making a toast at your reception dinner.

The chief bridesmaids is a strong support system during the wedding preparations. Based on responsibilities she's more active and involved than the best man.

The effect of an event planner is not only seen, felt but also experienced. We love to be part of your event either social or corporate event. Contact @DoronInternational for your event planning and event consultations service today @08032577415.

Events / Amazing Facts About Bridal Hair Pins by Teymini(f): 1:39pm On May 29, 2021
Do you know that hairpins were and still an important symbol in the Chinese culture?
In the old society, at engagement, the woman would take the hairpin from her hair and give it to her fiance as a pledge (a reversal of western tradition of the potential couple exchanging ring)
After the wedding the husband would put the hairpin back to his wife's hair.

Which of this style is your ideal choice of bridal hairstyle and hairpins?

Events / Why Should You Have A First Look On Your Wedding Day? by Teymini(f): 10:05pm On Apr 21, 2021
WHAT IS A FIRST LOOK?

A First Look is a moment during the wedding day when the Bride and Groom plan to see each other for the first time. The First Look allows couples to share this special moment together in a more private setting before walking down the aisle . Unlike traditional weddings where the couple plans to see each other during the ceremony.

WHY SHOULD YOU HAVE A FIRST LOOK ON YOUR WEDDING DAY?

-The first look is most likely the only intimate moments you'll have all day; The day already has lot of activities so having a first look give couples moment before the day officially started to connect with one another and take a deep breath.” You hug, chat, speak words to each other (pray).
You'll get to tell him how handsome he looks and he'll probably ask you to twirl your gown for him..it's a priceless moment.

-A moment worth capturing by Videographer for an endless memories ; This will be one of the emotional parts of your wedding day which means you will also get awesome photos from your wedding photographer. Real, emotional moments like this create the perfect opportunity for great photos and you will feel more comfortable than you will later on in the day when it is likely you will both feel a little tired and emotional after the ceremony.

-it calms the nerves down ; If you’re the type of person that gets nervous around crowds, doesn’t like to be the center of attention or gets anxious rather easily, then this is a great option for you. We’ve found that most clients are super nervous just before the ceremony, and those that thought they wouldn’t be suddenly get a little freaked out.

Lets face it, your wedding is probably one of the biggest days of your life. Depending on how involved you are in the process and your personality type, there can be a lot of internal stress built up to that moment of seeing each other for the first time. Having a First Look will give you peace of mind knowing that your significant other will be there for you to help calm those nerves. Time and time again we see the stress fly away just after the bride sees the groom for the first time. It’s almost like a weight is lifted off their shoulder and the rest of the wedding day activities are a breeze.

So dear I leave you to decide, would you love to have a first look for your big day?

Family / Common Living Room Layout Mistake And Fix by Teymini(f): 11:29am On Mar 15, 2021
LINING FURNITURE UP ALONG THE WALL
The issue that many people have is lining all of their furniture up against the wall. While this is an easy way to get your furniture in the room, it ends up feeling somewhat like a high school gymnasium… and '' old fashioned'' with the stands (seating) all around the edges and a big open space in the middle.
Not exactly the warm, inviting look you want for your living room.
Here is a quick fix

The Fix
Ideally all furniture should be centred and also face each other to aid a free flow of conversations.
If the space is small, Pull at least some of the furniture away from the walls so that it “floats” in the room.
Even having one sofa (or a couple of chairs) that aren’t anchored to the walls will help. Check the picture above again

Events / Why An Event Planner? by Teymini(f): 4:36am On Feb 26, 2021
Why an event planner?

Hiring an event planner may seem, to many people, to be an unnecessary and added expense. However, precisely the opposite is true. An event planner can save you large amounts of money, in proportion to the size of your event.

If you think event planners are only a privilege the rich can afford, think again. Well, an event planner could just be the best thing you spend your money on. Ofcourse you don’t want your D-day to be anything less than a dream come true! Read on to know why you must & should hire an event planner....

Some people believe that the need for an event planner is only limited to a luxury wedding and only a privilege for the rich... Well that's not true . The need for an event planner isn't due to the guest size, the party budget size alone although that can also be a determinant but there is more!

If you're part of this school of thought or you're curious to know more about an event planner, let's explore guys

Problem sticking to a budget? Here’s the solution.

Money is one of the major and sensitive aspects of planning your wedding or any other event. Who’s paying, how much and for what? A planner is like a financial adviser who specialises in events. He/she gives you an idea on how much things should cost, roughly what percentage of your budget will be spent in each area like decor, flowers, lights, catering & what not!
Note: In order to maximise this skills in your planner, you have to be open. Therefore, it advisable you opt in for a trusted planner.

Choice
Hiring an event planner gives you the option of not being involved in the planning. Some people prefer to just tell the professionals their preferences for the event, and leave them to do the work. Others like to know the details of the step by step planning of the event. Basically, when you have an event planner, you can be as involved or as uninvolved as you like.

Stress Management
We know that feeling when after going through a lot of stress to plan an event, you don’t get to enjoy it because you’re too busy moving all over the place, ensuring everything is in order and the event runs smoothly. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way. When you hire an event planner, you can relax and enjoy the event like every other guest, knowing fully well that everything is being taken care of. This way, you can have beautiful memories of your events, rather than memories of stress, because you were too busy running around.

Negotiation Skills
A good event planner will know what is important to the venue that you are booking, and should be able to negotiate a mutually beneficial contract for both you and the venue.
For example, the event planner can negotiate complimentary services, reduced rates on rooms, upgrades, or perhaps lower rates or free use of meeting rooms based on previous experience and relationships with vendors.

Organisations :
By the very nature of their job, event planners have to be organized. Through their experience, they’ll have expertise on what the best practices are when it comes to planning your dream wedding. They’ll know how to best structure your wedding, which will have the biggest impact on your guests. Having an organized wedding means that everything will run smoothly, which leaves you having to worry less.

Details:
When you read a story, the essence of what makes it so great is the small minute details. An event planner knows that the little details are what matter in telling your story to your guests. Clever details about your wedding can make a world of an impact when you might not think about it.
For example, using a specific seating arrangement can make a big difference in how your guests enjoy their experience. This is one of the details that you may not have considered, but your event planner absolutely will.

Your Event Planner Will Be There For You:
In the process of planning your wedding, you’re certain to have ideas and questions. Having an event planner will allow you to ask those questions and bounce ideas off of someone who is an expert in the field. They can help you make the decisions to organize the wedding you’re envisioning.

Also, their job doesn’t stop at planning. On the actual wedding day, you’ll have someone who is there to stay on top of things so that everything goes smoothly. You can truly enjoy the moments, dance the night away, and mingle with guests without worrying about forgetting a thing. In the event that something should come up, your event planner will be the one taking care of the issue so you don’t have to stress.
