Order is overrated and overstated by creationists like MrAnony1

He assumes that God put order in the universe.

The fact is that we humans perceive order in the universe. We ascribe order to the things we understand.

Take for instance, Anony takes a look at the mountains and rivers and proclaims that it was God who separated the water from the land in order to make this earth habitable for us humans.

Wrong. The mountains and rivers are a result of erosion, tetonics, sedimentation and the explosion of stars.

The irony here is that if there is a mind behind the creation of those mountains and rivers, it would be a chaotic mind of a chaotic creator because the processes involved to achieve the mountains and rivers are so random, wasteful and time-consuming

MrAnony1:
Yes but not necessarily in the same way that his creation is orderly.

I appreciate this argument but I think you are wrong. It is not because we identify how something works that makes it orderly, The said thing would have been orderly even before we understood it. For instance, the fact that I don't understand the order in which Chinese symbols are written doesn't make Chinese writings disorderly. My point is that order is independent of our understanding.

Now I agree with you that a conscious mind is required to perceive order but I must point out that this doesn't mean that order cannot exist outside the perception of a conscious mind.

Your argument is like saying that if all men were blind then light necessarily wouldn't exist. That's simply untrue.

You severely miss the point.

Order is a state of mind. It is a human bias. A human perception.

Note that I am talking about order with respects to the universe.

Let me even give you an example. The light you are even talking about depends on the eye of the being.

The light from the sun is yellowish. That is your human bias
This is because an animal (alien) with sharper vision could see that the light from the sun is actually a milion colours but reflects that yellowish colour.

Hey, be a sport and give us a history lesson. What other book testified to the existence of Jesus aside the bible?

Even Plato and Socrates that lived and died way before Jesus time have multiple books confirming their existence.

The whole story of Jesus is taken from different myths that predated the bible. Horus, for example, has so many similarities with Jesus. And he lived before Jesus.

MrAnony1:
Actually that is not what I am saying at all.

Here you are asking the wrong questions i.e. questions that have nothing to do with the answers you seek.

You believe Seun is the creator of Nairaland. Yet if I asked you to use Seun alone to give me answers to specific questions you wouldn't. Example, use Seun alone to tell me the age of Nairaland.com. Or why Nairaland is written with python (or whatever programming language it is written in) and not another programming language? You just want me to believe that Seun created everything but you won't tell how or what he used in creating....doesn't that sound of the mark to you?

You see the problem with your questions? I am sure that you'll agree that the fact that Nairaland is 9 years old or that it is written in python tells us nothing about whether Nairaland has a creator or not. What tells us that Nairaland has a creator is the fact that it works according to a specific order such that operating in it is intelligible. Same applies to the universe.

The part in bold is exactly what I mean by the only logically consistent way to explain the universe is that it has a creator. Once you deny this fact, then you have no way to explain the presence of physical bodies or the order by which they function.

FAIL FAIL FAIL!!!!

1) Unlike God, Seun has made it clear how he created Nairaland. So we can actually uuse Seun to explain nairaland by using his words.

2) Unlike God, Seun has to submit to certain constraints in creating nairaland.
In using an analogy comparing Seun to God, you make the mistake of showing that Seun as a creator has to submit to the laws/mathematics/order of coding/programming.

In short, the order exists beyond the creator
programming laws exists independently of Seun
Science exists independently and beyond God.

Your analogy proves Majaze annd I correct at the end of the day- science got nothing to do with God

finofaya:

This creator then, is he also orderly and intelligible?

And don't you think that we label something as orderly only because we have identified how it works? I'm not sure that anything is objectively orderly. They just happen and we say they are orderly when we understand how they happen.

Even the term chaos (in the scientific sense) simply refers to extremely unpredictable outcomes. Unpredictable to us, that is.

It is humans that are required for order, since it exists in our head. Any kind of world we find ourselves in, we will find it orderly.

MrAnony1 is a simple minded fellow.

He doesnt realise that "order" is a very anthropomorphic phenomena. Our brains are wired to see patterns, even where there are none.

That pattern seeking is also order. There is no order without a pattern.

What Anony fails to see is that for every orderly thing we see, there is an anti-orderly thing negating it.

For instance, the blue skies you see is a result of chaos. Many molecules in the atmosphere plus reflections of different spectrum of lights.

But no, Anony sees God's work in the sky, not knowing the schizophrenic bombardment of molecules and matter that occurs to give it that blue colour.

MrAnony1:
Hi BigUrban, good to see you.

1) Actually, you've just made a strawman of what I said right there. I didn't say that "things aren't true without God", rather I said that it is impossible to have logically consistent explanations for truth without God.

To explain what I mean with regards to science; I don't have to invoke God to know that scientific knowledge is true. It is observable. However, it is impossible for me to have a logically consistent explanation of scientific truths without God.

The universe functions in an orderly way such that it is intelligible and not chaotic. Science takes it for granted that the universe is orderly and then seeks to find out how this order works. The moment you question why the universe is orderly, the best logically consistent way to explain it is by the means of a creator, ditto moral truths and philosophical truths.

2) Are you saying that atheists don't believe that God doesn't exist?

Anony- I don't have to invoke God to know that scientific knowledge is true. It is observable. However, it is impossible for me to have a logically consistent explanation of scientific truths without God.

1) Science is logically consistent without God. Scientific facts are explainable without God. Science is Godless. End of story. You are wrong

Anony- Are you saying that atheists don't believe that God doesn't exist?

2) In trying to be smart, you debunked yourself. You employed a double negative, hence, your question is nonsensical
Religion / Re: Why Are You An Atheist? by TheBigUrban2: 1:01pm On Aug 26, 2014
MrAnony1: To answer the question of the thread. I became an atheist at a point in my life when I thought that belief in God ran contrary to common sense. Then I questioned my convictions and I found out that I couldn't make any consistent logical sense of anything I hold to be true without a belief in God. Therefore, I rejected atheism as a false belief.

smiley Nice to see you again, Anony

1) There are millions of things that are true without God. The whole arena of Science is without God or anything supernatural

Empiree: Even when you apply for job, if you qualify, they still bargain with you even though they have specific amount they will pay you. For example, after you qualified for job offer, manager asks how much are you willing to be paid?. Say minimum wage is 7$/hr, and you say you want 10$, it's up to the company to hire you. Point is you still bargain but because we live in modern economy which is pretty much regulated, your wage is confined at certain per hour amount. It doesn't matter if you want more. That comes later or never. Potential employee however is afraid of asking for bigger amount to avoid losing potential job offer. Anyways, nice talking with you. Am not economist. I may contribute later here in the future. I am into medical.

Thank God, you have admitted that you do not understand economics since you are into medical sciences.

Seems like you talking about specific business while i am talking about general business ethics. We seem to be on diff page my friend.

1-Budgets, of course all meaningful biz would have budgets.

2-no imports, no exports, all businesses involve this? I am not talking about specific business

3-macroeconomic polices, here you dealing with probably nations, parties' etc economy. This is the one i was talking about earlier, it policies. Now if you talking about specific company policies, I am not getting involve in that. Thats not what i am talking about
I dont know which part of the world you live but I can almost guarantee you that many living on minimum wage or wage salary really not achieving financial freedom. Some do something else on the side. Yet, Tbaba may disagree but thats not the point. The point is as far as I know minimum wage is not in islam. Rather, bargain wage. Minimum wage is a system regulated in our time. There are many contractors, like licensed building construction workers. They work on contract. You dont expect them to work minimum wage for anyone. They charge the chunk. Dont get me wrong. I am not saying minimum wage is bad.
There is micro and macro economics in Islam. What you want here is layout of specific business. But I gave you islamic economic policies. It can be small trade or better still large scale business. I am not talking about specific business. Islam economic polices are explained in the links. I think two of the links explained it (including bunch of videos). So i am not talking about specific business.

grin grin grin grin

This guy has never studied economics in his life grin grin grin grin

How can I discuss with you when you have no idea of basic economics? Did you really think I was talking about company budgets or export companies when I mentioned budgets and exports?

exports and imports have to do with the balance of trade of a nation.

When I mentioned budgets, I was referring to national budgets and surpluses and deficits.

You missing the point my man. Can you actually conduct trade in modern time like 6th century?. Of course not. The points highlighted in my earlier post deal with business ethics, investment, economics etc. Capitalism sucks anyways. And of course nothing stops us in modern time from modern economic chart you drawn earlier. The fact is modern economics doesnt change 6th century Islamic economy free and fair market outlined in the Quran and hadith.
For example, usury will never be permitted in Islam. Fair market will never be forbidden in Islam. Marketing and trading are parts of islamic economic growth. As for minimum wage, if that's your believe so be it. Minimum wage is really for the poor. It doesnt matter if it's 20$ an hr. It makes poor permanently poor and rich permanently rich. Tell Donald Trump to work at Wall Street for 30$ an hr, he would curse you out. However, $30/hr is lottery for the poor. grin

Furthermore, you can keep exposing your ignorance on minimum wage laws. Your fellow muslim in America, Tbaba, would even disagree with you. You are talking as if there are no poor in muslim countries earning less than $7.50 an hour.

Let me school you on minimum wage

=================================================
Your employer can pay you from $0 to $500 an hour

Without minimum wage, some people will be paid 50 cents an hour
50 cents an hour is 4 dollars a day
which is then 20 dollars a week
which is then 80 dollars a month

Without minimum wage laws, all Mcdnalds has to do is hire desperate immigrants to do the job at a slave rate

With minimum wage laws, Mcdonalds must pay at least 7.50 dollars per hour. This is for menial jobs.#
