Sports / Unpopular Opinion On Nigerian Football: The Current Super Eagle Is Too Technical by TheCurse: 11:52am On Mar 30, 2022
Most football fans probably do not want to hear this, especially after an over-exposure to foreign football and its intricate techniques which does not always translate to success (See Barca-Tikitaka). The fact however is that the current Nigerian Senior Football team have become too technical overtime and has lost that edge to be forceful when it matters most. The football on display now is a cross between technique and beautiful rubbish. Pleasing on the eyes when passes are been strung together, but ultimately tasteless in terms of end result. I cannot remember the last time such beautiful techniques ends up in a display of of sweeping passes that ultimately led to a world class goal. 90% of the Super Eagles last 50 goals are bundled in over the line. So what is all the fuss about toothless techniques when our goals continued to be poached and bundled in? I cant remember the last time I have look up the video of goals by Super Eagles just to savor its beauty.

In summary, the Eagles has lost that edge that made fearsome teams like Cameroon, Egypt and Ivory Coast etc cowers in front of us and make them celebrate like mad men if they scored or edge a match against us.

Summary? Nigeria's current SE needs players in the mold of the no nonsense Mobi Oparaku, almost blind speedy wingers like Udeze, touch-line speed monsters and cross merchants in the mould of Pius Ikedia and insanely hungry poachers like Julius Aghahowa.

What do these players have in common? Blindingly insane and terrifying hunger to win a game from the get go! Players that makes legends of other team cowers and shit their pants just from seeing the line-ups! Players that makes our creative fulcrums in the team such as Okocha and the rest shine like gems and win matches!!

Next coach must be home-based and should spend 6 months in the East searching and unearthing raw gems like these. I said East because I just realized that all the blindingly terrifying players I have just mentioned are from the East. They seem to embody the passion for football success more than any other region I must say. Raw frigging players with dangerous passion, not the current crop with more than a sprinkle of European mentality inside them. I am Yoruba by the way, but this is football. Our football, ethnic pride be damned!

Samson Siasia, it appears, seems to be the only Coach that gets this and put it to good use. We need to frigging get back to basics and dispatch any damn African football teams that comes in our way as we used to do in the past! I remember how these teams use to be grateful and damn happy that we - the frigging Super Eagles - are the one that crushed them in a football match, and not the other teams. Damn!

Crime / Why Has The Bombings Stopped Suddenly? Has Terrorism Evolved? Will It Be Back? by TheCurse: 12:45pm On Jan 31, 2022
For whatever reasons in the past couple of months, bombings reporting in Nigeria has suddenly gone down, and almost vanished from the Nigerian landscape. At the height of terrorism in Nigeria when brainwashing stupid people was a piece of cake, the spate of suicide bombing literally became an everyday thing with streets littered with mangled bodies and brain matters of old and young people, to the point where news forums are suffocated with multiple latest news on a DAILY BASIS! Shortly afterwards, it was news of mass massacre from terrorists everyday before bandit kidnappings stole the limelight.

EVERY single person in Nigeria expected hell to be let loose on Nigeria after BH joined forces with ISWAP and other terrorist organization to form a single terrifying unit. After this dastardly union of evils, it will be almost a foregone conclusion if bombings becomes an-hour interval event daily. YET, the reverse was almost TOTALLY the case!

What are the real reasons??

1- Someone (politician) ordered the bombings to stop?
2- Terrorists ran out of C4 Charges and Fertilizer to make bombs?
3- Would-be suicide bombers got wise to the internet and started using their own brains?
4- OUR MILITARY became really THAT GOOD and choke the terrorists logistic channel?? shocked
5- The Death of Shekau? New terrorist leadership forbade bombings?
6- Banditry's success rewired BH/ISWAP brains to focus on monetary gains at the expense of bloody blinding terrorism?
7- Recently identified terrorist sponsors are ACTUAL TERRORIST SPONSORS whose wings have now been permanently clipped?
8- End of Buhari's tenure which means his political enemies sees no further reason to maintain an aggressive terrorist opposition?
9- Rumoured link-up with Taliban/ISIS resulted in a strategic downtime for training and rebuilding logistics for future major offensives
10 - The quiet before the storm GOD FORBID!! sad

What are the reasons? Abi everything is preprogrammed by some internal or external forces trying to bend Nigeria to their political or economic wills?

Another very noticeable trend in Nigeria is how VERY DAMN FAST Nigerian Police catches criminals nowadays no matter how much head start the criminals have after fleeing from their crime scenes. This is really very commendable and increase reassurance that Nigeria MIGHT be headed in the right direction afterall once we manage to get rid of bad-intentioned oldtimers ruining our lives.

Just random but important thoughts

Sports / Egypt Fans Descends On Coach Quieroz After Loss To Nigeria, Blasted Him To Hell by TheCurse: 1:21pm On Jan 13, 2022
Egyptians gave Coach Carlos Quiroz hell on twitter after he started waxing philosophical following the defeat against the Super Eagles of Nigeria,

One thing is clear, that loss was never expected, judging by the vitriol pouring out of Egyptians against their coach, with some asking him to resign on the spot.

Has Nigerian football became that bad and so disrespected that a loss against us by countries like Egypt will trigger such mass bitterness against their own national team management staff? Countries used to shrug and accept their fate when they lose against the mighty Super Eagles, now they dont believe their eyes if they are on the losing end against us grin

Its akin to like Nigeria losing Sao Tome & Principe lol.

See just a few of the comments below from the hundreds of tweet attacks

Sports / Egypt Coach Queiroz Lost His Head After Loss Against NGR- Verbally Attack Fan! by TheCurse: 1:01pm On Jan 13, 2022
Egypt manager Carlos Queiroz was spotted arguing with an Egyptian fan following the Pharaohs’ dreadful show against Nigeria on Tuesday.

Egypt couldn’t have asked for a worse start to their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in terms of both result and performance after falling to a 1-0 defeat against Nigeria.

To cap off a miserable afternoon, Queiroz was seen engaging angrily with a member of the Egyptian supporters at the stadium after the full-time whistle.

A video emerged showing furious Carlos Queiroz in a heated exchange with a fan, who criticized the coach for the team’s performance, resulting in the Portuguese responding by asking the fan to come down to coach the team instead of him.

Romance / Re: Man Cancels Marriage, As Fiancee Insist On 450k Wedding Gown by TheCurse: 9:35am On Nov 09, 2021
You guys are far behind trends lol. Tasking her man for a 450k dress she wants isn't about been wasteful, its a venture.

Let me let you in on it: That same dress has been worn before by a former bride, who made a deal with a tailor.

Tailor made the same deal with her too. Get your man / family to pay 450 for this stunning wedding dress, bring it back intact 3 days after the wedding. Collect 250k back.

The lesser the dress amount, the lesser the split.

I hope they dont send snipers my way for bursting these long-time scheme grin. I be friend to tailors and designers wink

I wonder if people bother to read anything at all on this forum as soon as they see who it was that was talking. In the past, I reserved the same treatment for the likes of FFK, Reno, Freeze etc and other figures in the internet space who are prone to exaggerations, manipulations and outright lies sometimes, especially as it relates to their recollection of things. I changed when I find that sometimes, their opinions on certain issues are very sound, regardless of their past debunked or controversial utterances. Notice that I said "opinions", not things that they present as absolute facts or having pretensions as sound advices.

Here, Farook makes a lot of points, some of which can be challenged, and some of which are easily admissible as very plausible, owing to lived experiences. A commenter, with time of his hand can pick his argument apart and agrees or disagrees with fact as needed. What is with this wholesale rejection of an entire body of ideas just because the speaker triggers a fixed kind of reactions from you? Isn't that a very dumb thing to do? No capacity for discernment, enlightenment, learning and retention or rejection of new ideas, basic constructive argument or reasoning? Just a shoot-on-sight mentality. We are all probably SARS in citizen clothing, as this much rightly derided unit bears striking resemblance of thought-process as the rest of us: 'Judge or shoot first, don't even bother asking questions later'

Nairaland seems to full of these sorts nowadays. And we somehow, somehow continue to look forward to a country that works, somehow, by magic or blessings in the future? If Nairaland is a microcosm of Nigeria's society at large, then I fear what our offspring will be slinging at each other when they inherit this space after we are gone, because this type of reasoning or mentality is the only thing they will know and adopt as normal. We need to change sha, including me and other people already on their way to a better reasoning and find a better way to engage. Everyday, unnecessary wholesale verbal attacks on each other. Tiring. Damn.

Business / Can My E-wallet Be Hacked? Will The CBN Return Back My Money? by TheCurse: 2:40pm On Nov 01, 2021
In an age where digital currencies and cryptocurrencies backed by powerful high-end security firewall gets routinely hacked by hackers, almost at will, how safe is my e-naira wallet in a Nigerian cyberspace?

It appears that Nigeria do not have a strong enough security apparatus to prevent mass attacks on e-wallets holding e-nairas, especially if the hackers are foreign based. Therefore, as someone mentioned in an earlier comments on a post, that the CBN controls e-wallets and e-naira directly, does it translates that the level of defense will be CBN-caliber?

If the firewall security is outsourced and the company failed to prevent a hacker intrusion, will the CBN accepts the responsibility for the loss and return all my money back being the custodian of my e-wallet?

Does anyone know enough about CBN Policy on e-naira to educate us? Or are there fine prints in the terms and conditions that absolves CBN of any responsibility in the event of a wallet-drain through an hacker attack?

Crime / 9 Cops Shot! Throwback 2 D Nigerian Who Welcomed Trump Evil Era With Violence! by TheCurse: 2:17pm On Nov 01, 2021
Is Gavin Eugene Long - cop shooter who shot 6 officers and killed 3 - a Nigerian? He drove 100 of miles from his home on his birthday, hunting for cops to kill.

Either that, or he loves dressing Nigerian. Man is a one-man revolution and didnt need to run away from home or need a radio broadcast to bring maximum change and attention into effect! No subs!

The fellow appeared to follow in the footsteps of the Micah Xavier Johnson, the NYC sniper cop-killer who killed 5 officers during a #BlackLivesMatter protest that follows the police killing of an unarmed black man.

Gavin Eugene Long opened fire on officers Sunday morning in Louisiana on his 29th birthday, just days after posting videos online saying people needed to “fight back” after recent killings of black men by police in Minnesota and Baton Rouge, police sources told multiple news outlets, NBC News.

"If y’all wanna keep protesting, do that, but for the serious ones, the real ones, the alpha ones, we know what it’s going to take. It’s only fighting back of money, that’s all they care about,” he said. “Revenue and blood. Revenue and blood. Revenue and blood. Revenue and blood. Nothing else.”

Wiki research didn't show any Nigerian background. Anyone here recognize his brother/cousin/family member?

A theory - Crime scene analysis

Probably ex-force men (or even) current ones who have had to watch their friends and colleagues die by their side, while their boss fattens their pockets. A planned vengeance. RIP to the dead. Driver who was dragged out of the car and shot was probably a simple case of tying up loose ends.

Security or no security, it won’t be easy for regular men to take out a career military man with decades of combat intelligence and surveillance experience.

Kill shot went through the windshield (on- sight). They ain’t taking no chance with an experienced military man.

Condolences to the family.
