Politics › Re: When Will Nigerians Wake Up And Ask For The Real Change? by theDEVILisHERE: 12:41pm On Mar 26, 2016 |
Ontarget: Since 1999 Nigerians have been choosing their presidents. We have chosen four presidents so far whom we "think" will unchain the nation from its troubles. But inspite of this we are still complaining of the same problems we have been talking about since 1980. Why haven't we paused and asked ourselves why things have remained the same after severally choosing leaders who we expected to change the nation. When Obsananjo was in power there were complaints, then Yar'adua came in and there were still complaints, Jonathan came in and the complaints continued as well. Everybody thought Buhari will be the saviour but the complaints are still flaming up. The question I want to ask is, are we going to keep electing and complaining and electing and complaining continously till the next 100 years and nothing will still change? When are we going to get fed up and accept the truth that the system is not just working?
At this point I expect Nigerians to start thinking out of the box and realize that the system is not working for us and we should start calling for a REAL CHANGE. A lot of us were thinking there would be change because the president was changed, but that is the FAKE CHANGE. The REAL CHANGE is when we call for and achieve a total dismantling of the current system of governance which has many loop holes that breeds a dysfunctional government. Any thing short of a complete overhaul of the entire system means it is a waste of time trying to elect a "Messiah" into office. We will elect 50 messiahs in the next 100 years and we will still keep complaining of incompetency.
The only people who seem to have woken up and are thinking out of the box are those igbos agitating for Biafra. I am not saying I am in support of Biafra as a viable solution but at least these guys agitating for Biafra have realized fully well that as long as the current system of things remains in place nothing will ever change. They have given up on the incompetent system and Biafra is their own solution. Every Nigerian needs to give up on the system and stop hoping to elect any saviour president which we will never see in the next 200 years. That is the only way we have can a REAL CHANGE. NIGERIA CAN NOT GIVE CHANGE (or what ever that is) Hoping for the so called change in british created slave camp 4 nigga's is nothing but FOOLISHNESS! |

Politics › Re: Osinbajo: GEJ, Yar’adua Didn’t Build A Single Road. The Cable. by theDEVILisHERE: 12:09am On Feb 27, 2016 |
Longeria: Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday said that the federal government did not build “a single new road” in the last 10 years.
The late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and former President Goodluck Jonathan presided over the country within that period.
Speaking at the pastors and leaders retreat of the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos, Osinbajo said corruption in the country was not caused because by a few individuals, but that the entire system was built around lack of integrity.
He expressed confidence that the country would be great again but noted that the foundation for the greatness had to be laid with a lot of pains.
“Unless we tackle graft, we may not be able to achieve something,” he said.
“The federal government in the past 10 years could not build a single new road, not repairing existing ones alone.
“Now we have a president who will not steal money and who will not allow anybody to steal money.”
Commenting on the N6 billion that the last administration spent on a new residence for the vice-president, he said Aguda House, the current official residence, is up to standard with enough space.
He said the present administration would complete it but consider putting it to other use.
“There is no need for a new vice-president’s house; it is a kind of waste; we are now in a situation where we cannot abandon it; it has to be completed and used for a different thing,” he said.
Osinbajo also spoke on the controversy surrounding the State House Medical Centre, which he said was not only for workers at the state house.
He said it is a general hospital with a lot of facilities that serves all Nigerians, adding that he would prefer that it be further equipped to provide higher medical services to those in need.
Osinbajo debunked insinuation of lack of data in the country, saying that the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics had enormous which had been rated highly by the World Bank and other international agencies.
He said the intention of government was to aggregate the scattered data in INEC, CBN, National Population Census Commission into one by the National Identity Card Management Commission.
Osinbajo also said the education sector lacked not only standards but adequacy of institutions, which has forced Nigerians into sponsoring their children abroad for tertiary education.
He explained that while 1.8 million Nigerians sat for university entrance examination yearly, only about 300,000 were offered admission due to a dearth of universities.
The vice-president revealed plans of the government to convert many of the existing universities into centres of excellence and support the private sector in the running of universities to enable more Nigerians to have access to tertiary education.
Before responding to questions, Osinbajo said that what the country needs is truth and integrity, which the church should spearhead.
“The church is where the truth is; the church has the answer to the nation’s problems; one of the problems of our society is integrity,” he said.
“Nigeria lacks the capacity to get things done, which is difficult to understand, but with God on our side, our country will set the pace for Africa”.
“Our people are ready to do it and they can do it but they are waiting for the right kind of leadership. I know why you are praying for us, and it is because you know that this is a good opportunity to get it right and we don’t want to miss this chance.”
Taiwo Odukoya, senior pastor of the church, asked Christians to continue to pray for the administration as Nigeria has a great future.

maimalari: The Pan Igbo social- cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, on Friday said it has started talks with the Presidency to ensure the release of Radio Biafra founder, Nnamdi Kanu, from detention.
The body also said its leadership will commence discussions with the notable traditional rulers in the country for the same purpose.
Although the group did not give details of its discussions and Presidency officials it met “for security reasons,” it noted that those consulted assured its representatives that something positive would come out of the consultations very soon.
Ohaneze told journalists in Abuja on Friday that discussions were already at advanced stage between its leaders and top officials in the Presidency.
The modus operandi, it said, was to employ political solution to the problem.
The National President of the group youth wing, Mazi Okechukwu Iziguzoro, who spoke at a news briefing, said notable traditional rulers like the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and the monarch of the Bornu Kingdom, had been consulted on the issue.
Iziguzoro noted that Igbo leaders assured the Presidency and the royal fathers that they were prepared to prevail on Kanu to discontinue the operation of Radio Biafra if he is released.

Politics › Re: Nigerians May Soon Queue To Buy Salt - UTOMI by theDEVILisHERE: 5:02pm On Feb 26, 2016 |
erunz: Pat Utomi, professor of political economy and management expert, says Nigerians may start queuing to buy salt if the government fails to deal with the fundamentals of the economy. Speaking on Sunrise Daily, a breakfast programme on Channels Television, on Thursday, Utomi said the government needs to deal with the fundamentals of a producing economy. He said Nigeria should “learn from history” to fix the problem facing our economy. A similar economic crisis in the early 1980s saw Nigerians queue up to buy essential commodities such as milk and rice because the foreign reserves were down and importers could no longer access forex. “If you go back, it is good to go back, there is nothing new about what we are experiencing, it has been experienced in history. So if we can draw lesson even from our own history and what is going on elsewhere,” he said. “I came home from grad school to Nigeria in 1980 and people were pouring Champaign into bucket of water and washing their hands in it. “I mean that kind of madness needed ultimately to be reined in and when supply crashed and reality was beginning to settle, we said we don’t devalue, that time our currency was a block currency was just determined from the Central Bank, it was a block currency. “So central bank will say this is our currency and we continue to say this is our exchange rate we will not devalue, we were not changing the fundamentals of our economy, we were still mono-product, we were still dependent, were not selling. “And one day Central Bank of Nigeria could not pay due credit from all those who have supply arrangement with Nigeria and they stop supplying Nigeria and a few month later what were we doing, we were queuing up to buy sugar. It was called essential commodities, we were queuing up to buy salt. “If we don’t deal with the fundamentals we will queue again. It is not a matter of exchange rate. We are talking about symptoms; let’s deal with the fundamentals of a producing economy, diversifying the base of our economy which is not a light bob that you can switch on and off. “We need to be working on critical issues, the fundamentals of our economy; right now Nigeria economy to be very fair is a lot more diversify than people realize, most of it has happened without any serious incentives, plans or anything. “I mean we base our GDP and nollywood and co came into big play, nobody worked a strategy for that industry, just out of work fellows in television and whatever picked up their cameras and began to shoot this things, people laughed at first and it became an industry. “How do you creative incentives for those kinds of things to become real industry? Those are the issues that are really at stake. We must continue this conversation so that the incentives that are coming will be clear to people, because it is all about incentives.”
