Sports / Re: Why Should We Keep Hanging Our Life Jackets To T B Joshua by TheLight2: 7:17pm On Nov 07, 2009
Did you just wake up suddenly, and then start a thread about this TB Joshua without any motive?

If you have any issues with the man regarding the part God used him to play in the victory of the Ghanaian team at the U20 world cup, then maybe you should know that he has been consulted for the U17 Eaglets, whose head coach went to the man's church before the tourney kicked off. in addition, He told John Fashanu that the Super Eagles will win their game against Mozambique by alone goal, which will be scored with the head. Interestingly, these paople have come out to confirm the role the God used this TB Joshua to play.

For me, I believe that the battle of the spirits are not fought on the internet with name calling and slandering. Why not pray to God disable the man and reveal to the world that he is "FALSE" as you are trying to portray him? That will be a better idea.

Do you think the team can successfully defend its trophy?
Nairaland / General / Rating For Golden Eaglets Against New Zealand. by TheLight2: 9:38pm On Nov 05, 2009
The Golden Eaglets have done it again!

A five goal winner against the New Zealand team at the Abuja National Stadium.

Don't forget to make your contributions and have your say.

The performance of the Eaglets is summarized as follows:

1. DAMI PAUL (1): Virtually a spectator in the match. He remained untested for the whole 90 minutes. 6/10

2. AIGBE OLIHA (2): Had a good game. No real threat from the kiwis to trouble him. 6/10

3. MOHAMMED ALIYU : Had a good and calm game. assisited the team from the left flank and contributed to a goal. 7/10

4. FORTUNE CHUKWUDI (5): Lead the team as a food leader. He was up to the task when called to action. 6/10

5. KENNETH OMERUO (6): Played a calm game. Was also up to the task the few times when called. 6/10

6. RAMON AZEEZ: (20): A player with plenty of talent and stamina. Combined well in the midfield to break down the kiwis. 6/10

7. ABDUL AJAGUN (9): A good show from a young and hard working midfielder. Late substitued after a comanding performance. 6/10

8. TERRY ENVOY (11): A young winger with a great future ahead of him. Caused havoc for the kiwis from the left hand side of the mieldfield. 7/10

9. EDAFE EGBEDI (18): He started the tournament from the bench but has convinced the coach with his inspiring performance. Obviously a live wire of the team with two goals to take homw. 8/10

10. STANLEY OKORO (cool: The major threat of the team for the whole match. Scored a goal and created two others. A gifted player who needs to sharpen some aspect and the world will be at his feet. 8/10

11. OMOH OJABU (13): Good showing. Although he missed some good scoring opportunities, he needs to improve his goal scoring skills. 6/10

SUBS:

12. SANI EMMANUEL (14): He seems to have become the super sub of the team, coming from the bench to score two wonderful goals and increase his tally in the tournament to 3 in 2 games. 9/10

13. OLANREWAJU KAYODE (10): Obviuosly a good talent. He was denied by the woodwork in his first and only attempt to score a goal. 6/10

14. YUSUF OTUBANJO (15): He did not have too much to do in the few minutes he had to play. 5/10

man of the match: SANI EMMANUEL

What is your opinion?

Should Sani Emmanuel start from start or from the bench?
Should the coach stick with the same line up that defeated the Argies?

Nairaland / General / Man With A Gun At Scoan. by TheLight2: 3:07pm On Nov 04, 2009
At the Sunday service which was shown live on Emmanuel TV, Prophet TB Joshua, caused a stir when he announced during the prophecy service that there was a man in the midst of the congregation who was with a gun.

The faces of the members of the church illuminated surprise and a feeling of fear. He went further to describe the said man in details, describing the colour of the attire the man was wearing, as well as his physical looks…

Obviuosly it is an impossible task to set out to please the many people of this world.
Let us pray and wait on God to reveal to Prophet TB Joshua the outcome of the final round of matches.
I am sure God will still say something.

In case you dont know, the coach of the U17 team called him before their final group match against Argentina, and was told that his team will conceed a goal two minutes into the game but that with 15 minutes to end the game, he lads will score the winning goal of the match. Check the match out to verify if it turned out to be true.
Interestingly, the winnig goal was scored by Sani Emmanuel (No 14), a member of My People FC, a team financed and owned by TB Joshua.

Nairaland / General / Tb Joshua And U17 by TheLight2: 5:32pm On Nov 02, 2009
It seems God is about to use this man to deliver the U17 world cup to his country Nigeria, who happen to be the coach. The coach of the team has been consulting with the man. He told the whole team when they visited his church that the first match against the Germany team will be very tough but that they will not lose the match. The team miraculously, recovered from a 3 goal deficit to end the match at 3-3 and earn a point.
In the third match against the Argentina team, a match which will determine the winner of the group, he told the coach that his team will concede a goal in the 2nd minute and that there was nothing that they could about it. He then told the coach that in the second half, with 15 minutes to end the match, his team will earn a penalty and score the winner of the match. Coincidentally, the scorer of the goal, Number 14 shirted player with name Sani Emmanuel, is a member of My People FC, a team owned by TB Joshua.

FYI: Two of the members of the team actually play for My People FC, Sani Emmanuel (14) and Ogenyi Onazi (4)

Religion / Re: Pastor T. B. Joshua: The Man in the Synagogue by TheLight2: 6:33pm On Oct 31, 2009
We are all human; we have a right to our beliefs and opinions as well as our comments to any kind of issue whatsoever.

I find it hard to understand how this Tb Joshua gets public debate easily without any form of attempt on his side. People continuously become his public awareness campaign route, most time without their direct understanding of how this happens. Evidently, to this fact, he probably is the least spender when it comes to Pr and advertising, simply because people spend their time doing this job for him, without him asking them.

It becomes clearer to me as a Christian that this man must be of God. I always ask people close to me a very simple question, which goes thus: If you were a witness of the miracles and wonders that Jesus Christ performed in his earthly ministry will you believe him as truly sent by God, taking into consideration the history of Christianity?

Try to answer this question and you will ultimately understand why this man continues and his activities continue to make headline story, week in, week out. He carries out his activities uniquely, according to the instructions of Almighty god, and this seems to go against the usual norm and trend of modern Christianity.

People always come forward with flimsy reasoning and try to convince others to believe what they consider to be the truth and I personally find that to be authoritarian in principle and practise. Let us endeavour to allow others to think for themselves and make informed decisions based on their findings. Come to think of it, a large number of those who criticize this man are actually educated people, or so they claim to be. But it baffles me to understand how an educated person will base his/her belief on the opinion of others, without attempting to do a firsthand analysis and interpretation of the issue.

Remember, somebody somewhere created us all. He is the Almighty, the all knowing and the Final judge of us all. Let us fear and respect Him at all times. He is GOD. He does as he wishes, and if He has decided to choose TB Joshua as His prophet and mouthpiece, then there is nothing more than what has been done that can be done to him.
Politics / Senator Commends Cleric For National Image, Charity by TheLight2: 1:39pm On Oct 27, 2009
Pastor Temitope. B. Joshua of Synagogue Church of All Nations has been commended for his contributions to the country and the rebranding efforts of the government. The vice chairman of Senate Committee on the Federal Capital, Senator Anthony Agbo, who said this during the holiday, pointed out that he was overwhelmed by what he saw on the Emmanuel TV of the Synagogue Church of All Nations. He explained that the number of foreigners who troop into the Church made him think about any other spot in the country that could attract such mammoth influx of foreign nationals into Nigeria, adding that such outlet could only be possible as a blessing of God.

The senator who is also the National Patron of National Association of Disabled Persons in Nigeria, said the influx of citizens of different countries to come and benefit from healing and the un-paralleled charity works of the Church made him happy to be a Nigerian in spite of everything.

"Watching the Emmanuel TV, I cannot see myself fail to glorify God for giving this kind of gift and man of God to Nigeria. The TV channel has made Nigeria one of the world's hottest spots for religious tourism. Agbo identifies poverty as the greatest problem of the country, lamenting that the situation is compounded by the fact that the rich get richer but hold tightly unto what they have because no rich man wants to give the smallest bit of what he has to the next poor person in his community either a cripple or widow.

He added: "In Emmanuel, I see in contrast how an individual is being used by God to gather all the people rejected by the society, dwarfs who nobody want to associate with, widows with pathetic and plaintive cries as well as disabled persons who live under the bridges and on the streets of all states in the country. He clothes, feeds and rehabilitates them. Mother Theresa of Calcutta got the Nobel prize and highest award in India. From what I have seen in Emmanuel TV within the last two months, Pastor Joshua deserves the national award; not only for his charitable works, but to glorify God. It is not for him as a person but to God for giving this gift to Nigeria and Africa."

Nairaland / General / Great Britain Needs Tb Joshua Now! by TheLight2: 10:30pm On Oct 24, 2009
It is without a doubt that some of the greatest gatherings have been attended by Christian adherents; Figures shows that Millions of people have gathered at several places in different parts of the world to attend crusades, This figures is archived every Sunday since Emmnuel.tv started broadcasting the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of TB Joshua

Amidst the ponderous saga of some "holier-than-thou" men of God who tax their congregations to build schools, colleges and universities to which their (members) cannot afford to send their children due to exorbitant fees, Joshua has awarded scholarship to thousands of his members and even beyond. His consistent life style has already given proof of his individuality as a true servant of God. And the manifest hand of God that radiates through his ministration has drawn many non Christians and lost sheep back to Jesus Christ.

A close look at the circumstances of his life shows that Prophet Joshua was born with the natural requirements for a calling of an ideal tendency. In recent times, I have heard not less than three pastors, hitherto doubtful of Joshua's spiritual credentials, now testifying openly that TB is a true servant of God. One of them even confessed at a meeting recently, in which you were in attendance, as a testimony to his rising profile, Joshua, has a large flock of Christian believers in the world: Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America and his mighty anointing power makes headline news in media houses around the world. Again, The Synagogue Church of All Nations, Lagos headquarters, has played host to many important dignitaries from across the world. The tremendous growth in population of his ministry apparently accounts for the equally large viewership of his television network program known as "Emmanuel TV" mostly from the United Kingdom. As a hard working, humble and dedicated spiritual leader who can shrink up the sundering seas, level intruding mountains, bridge gulfs and put a lamp in every tunnel; TB Joshua is undoubtedly a spiritual phenomenon whose corpus requires a large canvas. It is incontestable that the spiritual seriousness of the present times, so conspicuous in many Christians, is due in no small part to evangelical Christianity, which has influenced the beliefs of so large a segment of the world populace. For, much as practical evangelism has nurtured the need for a religious faith in our society, it has inadvertently made allowance for the major ideological developments of the age.

GREAT BRITAIN is in spiritual turmoil and urgently needs a man of God like TB Joshua to save her people from struggle to survive in a climate of increasing social instability and moral family decay. Political correctness in Britain has silenced the voice of conscience and the spiritual condition of the nation is at an all time low.

Violence and other social problem are rising. Politicians and those in authority are looking for a solution, but they cannot find an answer for they do not know where to look.

For decades Great Britain has been drifting further away from the Biblical standards that were once the bedrock of her values and good standing in the world.

With the flood of immorality and sin that has overwhelmed the United Kingdom there has also been an alarming decline in the social and moral welfare of the nation. This is due in no small part to compromise of doctrinal Truth by the church and a general abandonment of righteousness. The social conscience has become conditioned to immorality and many laws have been rewritten to accommodate the lowered standards.

In contrast God's standards of holiness and moral purity never change just as God never changes and therefore the moral laws of God's Kingdom will never be adjusted or re-written. Likewise the foundational standards of the true church should never change.

In the light of our present situation the British Believers can no longer continue to fail this nation,

We are therefore calling upon the Believers in Great Britain to take a stand for righteousness. God expects His people to be righteous and obey all of His commands. 'For the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit' (Romans 14:17)

It is time to return to the old paths. It is time to return to righteousness and to once again lift up the banner of Truth in this land.

Nairaland / General / Ghana Fifa World Cup Victory: Did Tb Joshua Glorify God Or Himself? by TheLight2: 10:08pm On Oct 24, 2009
“Is it Africa? Is it Africa? It is!” These were the words that came from the commentator’s mouth in the dying seconds of that historical game – it was a moment which will be forever etched in the hearts of all those that watched the match. Friday 16th October, 2009 was a special day for all Africans who tuned in to watch the live World Cup Match - Ghana’s Black Satellite’s versus Brazil. Ghana became the first African team to win the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Cairo, Egypt. It was indeed Africa! With celebrations underway in Ghana and other nations of Africa, a much publicised issue seemed to overtake and almost overshadow the African victory. Rather than news media focusing on the African victory, TB Joshua became the focus of their attention.

TB Joshua had apparently spoken to Coach Sellas Tetteh before and during the match and with his prophetic insight guided the Black Satellite’s to a World Cup victory through telephone conversations by specifying which player should take the penalty shoot-outs. Everything was recorded and played during the live service on Emmanuel TV with footage showing TB Joshua speaking with both Coach Tetteh and the Number 10 player whom he advised should play the first penalty. It was a surprise to many. Controversy was sparked.

Many Ghana media criticized TB Joshua of proclaiming he was the reason for the Black Satellite’s victory against Brazil. Angry insults were hurled at the Nigerian Prophet and things really got out of hand with many believing that this event had undermined men of God in Ghana and Ghanaians in general. Knowing that there are always two sides to a story, it was quite surprising to hear little from the accused himself – TB Joshua. Perhaps being a man of God, he chose not to retaliate. Having listened to TB Joshua talk concerning the event, I was humbled by his own account. “The coach called me in the morning of the battle in Egypt and said I should join them in prayers. I considered this as a great honour because there are many great men of God in Ghana that had also been standing in the gap for the team. And I was one of these called to join in prayer for the team. There are great men of God in Ghana. We are all prayer warriors, ”

During his Sunday service broadcast live on Emmanuel TV, TB Joshua actually modestly stated that he was the least of the pastors and that he felt humbled that God would use him when there are greater men of God in Ghana. He further stated, “One thing you must know about ministers of God, we cannot change God’s opinion. We can only know God’s will concerning the situation and when we know God’s will concerning the situation, we tell you. When we tell you, it will help you to guard against mistake and error. We are servants; we are just being used”.

Does this sound like someone who is claiming glory for himself? TB Joshua recognizes himself as a servant of God. A true man of God boasts not in what he does for God but boasts in what God does in his life and he never exalts himself above God. TB Joshua never for a moment exalted himself but sought and spoke the mind of God – nothing more. As he said, “The secret is that there is no way I will come out and say, we will win. But what I can do, as a man of God, is to seek the mind of God concerning any situation and interpret the mind of God correctly without removing or adding anything. That is the work of prophets – to deliver God’s message as you receive it,”

I was quite saddened by the discrimination this Nigerian pastor faced on the basis of his nationality, particularly as he himself believed, in this event, that as men of God, they were all united in one spirit and one body to pray for the nation Ghana and their players - the Black Satellite’s. Being a Ghanaian myself, I have to admit that I was ashamed at undeserved criticism and treatment he received. Why did it matter that God used a Nigerian pastor to guide a Ghanaian victory? Indeed I am sure that if God had used a man of God who happened to be Ghanaian to successfully guide a Nigerian World Cup victory, we would not complain. This would have been a perfect occasion to prove our African unity amongst other nations of the world.

I humbly address my people, Ghanaians - let us stop criticizing one another out of jealousy, ignorance or misunderstandings. I believe that if we embrace pastors, men of God and prophets from other nations in humility, that God will exalt us as a nation to accomplish great feats which extend way beyond football!

To many the word NEWS has a wide range of definitions depending on the understanding of the word and its relevant application, especially to professional journalists around the world. When a story comes to the knowledge of the public, it is expected that it must have gone through a thorough analysis and check by the relevant authorities. Then comes the part that ensures that all involved parties in the news are given a fair sense of hearing so that both sides of the story are not only heard but the final story that is released to the public allows for them to make an informed conclusion.

When these above stated guidelines are disregarded, a major part of the ethics of the profession of journalism can be said to have been thrown out of the window. In most cases where it occurs, it appears to be that the writer is doing the bidding of a party to the story; to ensure that only one side is heard, and carry out an agenda; in most cases to bring disrepute to the other party of the story.

Without any form of doubt, when this continually occurs and become a trend, it then calls for concern and worry. It becomes obvious to all that a grand conspiracy to pull down the affected individual or body at all cost is in place. Again, it could be that certain practises of the involved individual are not completely understandable to the other party or perhaps they do not intend to come to terms with their mode of operation. Worst of all is if the said individual is a servant of God. Such a person should obviously be allowed to make their claims and then get the judgement that follows from their Creator.

As a person with no particular interest and inclination to the most persecuted Man of God that I have seen in recent times, Prophet TB Joshua, from Nigeria, I can say without any fear that the way and manner that the media has constantly attacked the Man has called for my writing this article. As a professional writer I have found myself constantly having to do follow ups on religious activities and their leaders around the world. I can boldly say that I have a complete dossier of different men of God which include their background, practises, habits, doctrines, etc.

It should be noted that I will never hold forth for any Prophet of God or even criticize their works as I believe strongly in the Almighty God and the fact that He is the all knowing, the only One who cannot be deceived by any living being born of a woman. I will only try to ask certain questions and then leave you to give answers to them and in so doing help yourself to take a well informed position regarding prophets of God such as TB Joshua. The questions go thus:

1. Who is prophet of God?
2. What is the role of the Prophet in the church?
3. How will one know a true prophet of God?
4. Are there any qualifications required to be a prophet?

Let us try to give answers to this questions one after the other.

1. Who is a Prophet of God?

In Exodus 7.1, God assigned roles to Moses and Aaron,
• Moses was to function as "God" to Pharaoh
• Aaron was to function as the prophet of Moses
Based on Exodus 7.1, we can arrive at the following conclusion,
• The job that a prophet does for God is the same job that God assigned Aaron to do for Moses.
So the Lord said to Moses: "See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet." Ex 7.1
In Exodus 4.16, God said that Aaron would function as "spokesman to the people" on behalf of Moses.
As shown by Exodus 7.1 (above), God assigned Aaron the job of serving Moses in the same manner as a prophet serves God.
Based on Exodus 7.1 and 4.16, we can arrive at the following Bible definition,
A prophet is any person who serves as God's spokesman to the people.
(God told Moses, ) "So he (Aaron) shall be your spokesman to the people. And he himself shall be as a mouth for you, and you shall be to him as God." Ex 4.16

2. What is the role of the Prophet in the church?

Zechariah 1.6 gives the following information,
• A prophet is a servant of God
• A prophet speaks forth the words and commands ("statutes"wink that he or she receives from God
• (God said, ) "Yet surely My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets (to speak forth), did they not overtake your fathers?'' Zech 1.6a
Second Peter 1.21 gives the following information,
• A prophet is a holy man of God
• A prophet speaks for God as he or she is moved (Greek: phero) by the Holy Spirit
for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved (phero) by the Holy Spirit. 2 Pet 1.21
phero -- "to bear, carry," is rendered "moved" in 2 Pet. 1:21, signifying that they were "borne along," or impelled, by the Holy Spirit's power, not acting according to their own wills, or simply expressing their own thoughts, but expressing the mind of God in words provided and ministered by Him.

3. How will one know a true prophet of God?

a. Acts 2:17-18, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:"
Age makes NO difference in being a prophet.

b. 2 Peter 1:21, "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." A true Prophet only prophecy in the name of the Lord. He only seeks to glorify the Lord. He will never seek glory to himself. NEVER!

c. 2 Peter 1:20, "Knowing this first that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation."
A true Prophet NEVER gives his private interpretation. He only shares what the Lord reveals. Scripture defines Scripture, not man.

d. Jeremiah 28:9, "The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him."
A true Prophet will be 100% accurate. There is absolutely no margin for error.

e. Deuteronomy 18:21-22, "And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follows not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."
The true Prophet of the Lord predicts that which does come to pass. If the Prophet's predictions fail, they are exposed as NOT of God.

4. Are there any qualifications required to be a true prophet of God

There are no external and/or educational qualifications required to be a true prophet of God. God does as he wills. He can decide to choose the least of men as His prophet.

With proper understanding of the above answers to questions earlier asked, it beats my imagination to see people take up positions on issues concerning prophets of God, most times without even attempting to make a first hand analysis of the involved persons. Thanks to the fact that I will never hold forth for any prophet, lot less TB Joshua, who I have never met, and do not intend to meet in the foreseeable future, I will not bother to write about some of his enviable activities and actions in my possession thanks to my dossier. I believe that I will serve as a means of selling him to the world and my readers.

My advice to individuals and the world a large is very simple: A prophet of God is a sacred position of authority, bestowed by God on his select few, for no particular reason other than the fact that He has deliberately chosen them to carry out His assignments. Touch the anointed of God. Even when there are reasons to criticize them, caution should be exercised. Let God, who they claim to represent, be the Final judge.

I dont know how true this story is, because I have been watching Emmanuel Tv and have not seen or heard anything that sounds like what you have said.
Please can you kindly provide any kind of proof to back up this story?

I am not trying to doing anybody's bidding but to analyse the facts as it is.
Whatever it is, just be sure that there are some people some where are call you names, for no good reason.
It will be better if we can be factual at all times and ensure that we do unto others as we wish they do to us.
Remember, the Man says that he is a prophet of God, so why can't everybody hold their peace and allow the Almighty God to judge Him if He is telling lies and deceiving Poeple. Come to think of it, how does he manage to grow stronger in the midst of this whole attempt to pull him down at all cost?
Let time and God be the judge.
