that’s the practice with TLS. They just want to fleece applicants.

When it was handled by VSF, I used an old pics I had taken more than 6 months before and didn’t have issues.

Had to take another picture at the VSF center when I applied for Italian visa.

Almost all the applicants I met there had to retake their passport pictures.
This is so true. I literally ranted about this scam during the application. They clearly want to make money off it, 7500 is also quite pricey for a passport photograph. Clearly intentional on their part.

I saw a response debunking this and I refuse.
I’ve processed two Schengen visas at VFS and two with TLS and the difference is very clear. It’s an intentional effort to make money off applicants and I will fill this in my satisfaction survey. Things need to be called out for what they are.
I literally had a Schengen standard passport and they rejected it claiming the quality was not up to the requirements. BTW, I think I took this picture with them. In response to this, they then pulled up the “that means it’s older than 6months” 😐. I was so mad. They didn’t even ask me if I wanted to take pictures with them, they just wrote something on my application that prompted the admin guys checking the documents to include the passport picture costs in my visa fee payment

Hello house, I received my Schenghen business visa from the French embassy today (one month visa)

Submitted application on Jan 6th, received collection sms/email today, Jan 14th.

My case is quite peculiar.

Early last year, I won an award with my organization and they decided to sponsor myself and a guest (I picked my mum) to Paris where I would participate as an Olympic torchbearer. I received all relevant info from my company who was a sponsor for Paris 2024 and my mum and I were both denied. I had an active 5-year U.S. visa, which I had used the year before. I also had a previously used Canadian visa and had stamps to Senegal and Gambia. My mum was also actively traveling to Dubai and China for her business, so we were confused.

My organization decided to give me another opportunity as a Paralympics torchbearer and we got letters from the Paris 2024 team, and my organisation's director in Paris and still yet, we were denied again. Emails were also sent to the French embassy from my organisation in Paris but we received no response.

That's how I missed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Fast forward to October last year, my company decided to send me to Amsterdam for a training and because I was rejected twice previously, I was scared, but I still applied. Picked up the passport after 2 weeks and discovered they gave me 1 month visa.

Unfortunately, the training was canceled and I couldn't travel and I honestly did not feel like traveling at that time so the visa expired and I didn't use it.

This year, my company decided to send me to Amsterdam to attend a conference in February and because of my terrible history, I was a bit reluctant. However, in my cover letter, I included the reason I couldn't travel (being that the physical training was canceled due to budgetary concerns). I also added a letter from my manager confirming that the training was canceled and including that they were sending me to Amsterdam on the provided dates.

Because I have another trip for Ghana on Jan. 16th, I had asked them to expedite the process in my cover letter, providing the booked flight tickets to and fro Ghana.

I'm just glad that everything worked out and wanted to share here, because I have really benefited by being a silent observer.

To everyone looking to get a visa, I wish you the best of luck.
Wow congratulations. Quite a peculiar case indeed

Good forum and I am so impressed with the level of knowledge acquired here while reading in for the last 4 hours.

Thank you all for all your input and contributions.

Here is my question please. I will like to visit France as a tourist for vacation with my wife and 3 kids (10,8 and 5) by August during the holiday break.

1. Can i start the application process by Feb? , so i can get TLS appointment by April, Since the journey is planned for 3rd week of August?
2. Second option is to see if we can travel during school break in April - Please do you think this can to close since application will start first week of Feb - As passport renewal will be done last week of January?

Thank you in anticipation.
Good thing about the France Schengen visa is you can start the application 6months to your travel date so I’d advise you start as soon as possible and decide on what dates you prefer. Because if the visa is granted, it would only be valid from the entry date you indicate and not earlier.

Depends on your schedule, I personally don’t think it’s required at TLS in Lagos because the regular processing queue moves fast and is quite organized

Hello guys, please I need a guide to the best way to apply for a Greece visit visa ahead of my proposed trip by september 2025. I am currently in Canada on a visit visa and I have also visited Dominican republic before. I am thinking of coming to Naija to apply for a schengen visa. Also I have registered real estate business in Naija, what documents should i apply with. Thanks
I will advise you apply through another Schengen state. I personally don’t know anyone who has applied for a Greece Schengen visa from Nigeria. But maybe you can be the first on this platform sha and share the outcome so future applicants know it’s possible wink . It should be straightforward since you will be considered a frequent traveller (because of your Canada visa and other travel history). Weigh your options (I.e available resources to guide you, ease of applying etc) and go where the spirit leads

Hello, please regarding the submission of both original and photocopy documents on the day of the appointment, will the original documents be returned to the applicant on the same day or at a later date? I’m asking because this concerns the submission of all original documents.
Hello, happy new year. I’ve never submitted or taken original copies of any document with me except my international passport and bank statement (because what would I do with that amount of paper otherwise, besides there’s no need to make copies of that).

I typically make colored photocopies of my documents (the originals) and submit. They’re usually so clear that the VFS Admin officers usually mistake them for originals. So that helps

What visa process is asking for original copies? Is it for a tourist visa? And what Schengen state

I need you all to guide me on the documents I will use to apply for France tourist visa with virgin passport.. am a business man and my business is register with C.A.C and I also pay my tax with my company name.

Meanwhile in January 2024 I and my family of 3poepel we're refused Spain tourist visa on the reason that the purpose of travelling is not reliable.

But now am planning to apply alone for France tourist visa, pls Gurus in the house I need u to guide me so that I will not be denied
So sorry for the late response and Spanish Schengen visa refusal. I’m not familiar with their process but you may have a better chance with France. I think you should include a short cover letter along with supporting documents acknowledging the previous refusal and restating your travel plans (put a short list of 4-5 days itinerary with places you intend to visit) indicating your exit and entry date and stressing that you have a business to return to and you will not overstay your trip. I think this will help along with all supporting documents required (company docs, personal documents as well), hotel booking, flight booking,

With these, and Gods grace (+ luck of getting a reasonable visa officer), you should be fine

Earliest date in Lagos is Feb 13th.
It depends on the traveler profile though
I can bet a frequent traveler would be able to book an appointment asap
I saw appointment dates for the same week when I checked early December
Also, categories matter…if it’s tourism, or business or any other category, you may see earlier slots depending on your profile and visa type

Please aside the €90 for the application fee. How much does it cost to book TLS appointment for france? Please how much is it to book standard/normal appointment on TLS website for france ?
Paid 168k at the centre (inclusive of passport photograph though) for visa fees standard appointment.
I think you pay online to book as well ahead of the appointment…can’t remember but it was probably about 50k

Hello @thelma76
Thank you for your detailed response. Perhaps I've overlooked something.
Could an inactive Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) company registration status lead to a refusal of the France visa?
It’s possible. I know if it’s uk, just consider it denied on submission, they literally quoted that on my refusal letter about my employers CAC status then
Guessing your bank statement was in order? You should include a cover letter sharing your itinerary and explaining why you didn’t use the other visa
You had your hotel and flight booking too right?

hello guys, i applied for France visa on the 13th and got a Ready for Collection email today...does this mean a refusal as it's been barely one week?
I had my appointment on the 11th and got a “Ready for collection” SMS and email today. That’s their typical timeline but I was scared because this is peak season and I anticipated a delay. But I got the visa…..it’s my 4th Schengen visa though, and 3rd France visa. They gave me 6months multiple entry with 90days stay

So I guess you can only tell when you go pickup. Once there’s no paper in your envelope, it’s likely approved.

OMG, long written epistle was how I narrated all in WRITING and it was quite alot and having to put all together.

As it seems I believe some thought it was a fabricated story lol.
The fact that we got a phone call doesn't mean someone else will .
I just thought I would help.
Anyway to make this easier I am not the one travelling from Naija, I helped my Uncle and his kids apply here online, easier to use a UK card to make payments and all that, even though my uncle was in doubt they may not be granted due to their non international travel history only to few african countries only, and when he called me shortly after he received the phone call and was narrating how the conversation went I was SURPRISED because we were waiting for pick up email not a CALL, if it was a business visa or spouse or a study visa then maybe but for a short stay ? Who would have thought ? and the call came in from a landline which is 02014628484 ( obviously if you dial the number it will not ring)
I am only few stops away from Eurostar Stpancras station and we are going to join them in France to spend time together before they return to Nigeria.
I just thought it would be better to let others be aware that you MAY be called and in case you get a phone call be prepared, if he had not picked the call we obviously don't know what would
have happened, but I told him he will
Be granted since he has clarified the consular doubts.
But if some still think its a fabricated story, I honestly do not think I have to keep explaining myself, I personally was begining to get worried when the waiting time was getting longer.
But to each of their own.
Thanks to those who reached out to me privately asking about the pick up email as they were concerned and this are people who are frequent travellers and had multiple.
But for my uncle and his kids this is their first international visa, of course some may say it is not a big deal but it is for them.
Even here in England with your BRP france dey chop person eye anyhow, greece is far more better sha make sure you have a valid return tickets with payment confirmation you are good
This one wey schengen visa don turn to Gold alot of us has been in the game since, expecially the family of EEA national days before UK comot, we don't pay a dime.
All the best everyone.
I am out of here.
French embassy actually calls applicants directly sometimes. I know about 3 people who have been called. Two of them were for clarification around their itinerary. The last one was in response to an email requesting to withdraw passport

Thank you for your input, very well appreciated ... My return flight is from Paris with stop over in brussels... funny enough , I'm in brussels now for the past 2 days ... I will return from Amsterdam to Paris , then fly from Paris back to Kigali with stop over in brussels... lol .
The last Schengen country is where you’d be stamped. So in this case, you will not be stamped by France at all. You will be stamped by Brussels

Next time, use Air France. You can take the Eurostar to Brussels easy peasy.. Just to avoid the anxiety of wondering if there’s a consequence to being stamped in and out by another country.

I don’t think it would affect your next application though. It’s normal to be stamped in by one country and another upon exit, due to how interconnected the Schengen zones are, plus who knows if you had other plans that affected you traveling from the port of entry.

This is so strange. Perhaps there was something else amiss with the application.

I’ve had about 3 or 4 Schengen visas now. The first one I used was Portugal-issued, I used it and in fact Rome was my first point of entry (there’s no direct flight to Lisbon and this was the shortest route). I was worried I wouldn’t get it the second time (since I wasn’t stamped in by Portugal authorities at all)

The next time it was tourist and I used only my statement, I got it from France. Life happened and I didn’t use it because the trip I booked was linked to a London trip and I never got the visa for that so had to cancel it all.

I applied again, I was scared I wouldn’t get it because I didn’t use my first French-issued visa, but I got it (bank balance a little over 2m). I’ve just applied for another one (I even dared to ask for a longer validity in my cover letter) so let’s see how this comes out. Summary is I’m not sure they can deny a visa just because you didn’t use a previous visa but then again, I recall explaining in my cover letter why I didn’t use that visa though.

I don’t think a country should penalize you for not using a tourist visa. The visa fees have been taken from you and if they reject you, it’s non-refundable. In that same vein, you should be allowed to exercise your right to use the visa or not.

I've had a similar experience. I used my first visa, but didn't use the second one. I've been denied a France visa three times since then and haven't been able to obtain one.
Did you submit another application after your third France visa rejection?

Those Schengen Airports have a special arrangement that when you are are traveling within the the Schengen zone, you won't see immigration that will stamp you out/in. It will just be like a local travel. Same thing at the other schengen country you are traveling to. You'll arrive at the airport and exit from an area that will not …….. cheesy
lol this reminds me of my first time flying within Schengen zone. I travelled from Lagos to Rome to Lisbon. We had to pass through immigration at Rome since that was the entry state, and then we landed at Lisbon. And I think the way the airport wings are structured, Schengen zone flights land in a wing that literally would lead you straight to baggage claim and exit. I was so confused, kept turning round and round because I was scared to not get stamped and get in trouble for it🤣. There was a lady who also flew in from the UK and was just as confused as I was. Until someone clarified. God knows, even then, I was still thinking of how to document the fact that I tried to find the immigrations place so they would just “stamp my passport” just in case. But I took solace in the fact that someone else was in the same predicament and had moved on.

Thank you! And thanks NwunyeAlberta!
My tutor was madame Bizang. She taught me for 5months and then we did exam prep for 2months. Her contact is on this thread. Then I self studied the rest of the time.
Additionally, I practiced for one week with another tutor before my second attempt (he charges per hour, so that’s all I could spare). His contact is plus two three four eighty sixty-seven eighteen sixty sixty
I should say, the time difference makes it hard for him to take students living outside of his time zone (I think he’s currently in Montreal). So it was tough, one day, he had the class at 6am his time…not easy at all. Both are great at their job.

Someone asked if C1 is necessary. It isn’t, you need a B2. But make sure it’s B2 “high” in the listening test otherwise you’d have to retake all 4 sections of the exam. Same thing happened to me. So the higher, the better.

@thelma76. Circumstances change, you can decide not to mention your aunt again as who is to say the relationship has not gone sour, or your aunt has not left the particular city you are now going to be visiting?
Say she was in Manchester and now you intend to holiday in Sheffield and see things in Sheffield, you obviously wont stay with her or might not visit her during this your trip and this is a valid reason.
Since you have 2 previous denials with them, pls try ur best not to lose this opportunity. U can keep ur spending to the barest minimum so that u would have a huge disposable income.. this helps ur case better.
And u can also fully sponsor ur trip.
Create an itinerary for the 1 week
Research on things u want to do and places u want to see that are easily accessible… not visiting one place in london and the next place is in leeds
Book a hotel- that is cancellable
work on the ties u want to present
Is this 1.1m a salaried job? If it is yes then that’s good
Get a leave approval letter stating the exact dates u want to travel and tht they r expecting u back
If you rent a property and ur rent is still ongoing u can add this information
If u own ur own property and assets.. add them
Discover everything you can use as home ties and use it in this application.
The goal is to make them understand that on a balance of probabilities that u can be trusted and that they should take a chance on you that you would return. Your documents and information therefore have to show this
Super! Thanks a lot for responding. So definitely keeping spending to the minimum, applying as a tourist, and gathering documentation to prove ties. That means, it makes sense to have my rental agreement, right?
Yes, it’s a salaried job

. Take your time. I strongly suggest you use your aunt instead of a friend. You just need to prove your relationship. How exactly are you related to her? If you let me know, I can suggest how you can prove your relationship. When UK visa officers want to deny you, they will look for the smallest thing to use against you. You have already mentioned an aunt. It will look suspicious to leave her out in your next application and introduce a friend. With UK, if you are sure of yourself, provide proof of your claims. Insist she is indeed your aunt and prove it. Say you will stay with her - meaning accomodation and feeding will be taken care of. Build your account for the next 6 months and apply early 2025. Leave UK this year. Otherwise, you will look desperate which is a red flag. Good luck!
Thanks a lot for sparing time to respond. She’s my dad’s younger sister so same surname with my dad before she got married.

Hello everyone! I need guidance on my application, honestly happy to defer it if I get feedback here that waiting would be better.

Personal situation:
Monthly income: 1.85m
Flag: I am repaying a facility with my employer(been working with them 2.5years) that ends this month (this will take my income back to 1.85, it has been 1.1m because of this).

Preference: to avoid explaining too much, I plan to generate my statement from this month and for three months (max 4) so I can still get an appointment and travel by December.

Expenses: differs due to ongoing personal plans. Willing to modify this and spend the minimum possible while relying on savings.

Duration: 1 week
I plan to stay with a friend.
Sponsorship of trip is fully on me

Travel history: I have had 3 Schengen visas (allowing me visit Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, and Belgium….one connection through Amsterdam (exit stamp) and 1 Moroccan visa and exit/entry stamp for Ghana

How would you advise I structure my expenses over the next 3-4months and how much do I declare as trip expense (this part greatly confuses me)

Caveat: I have been denied a U.K. visa July 2023 and Jan 2023. The latter, I stated my aunt would sponsor the entire thing. They flagged nothing with my account but said I did not prove relationship with my aunt (fair, because we don’t have same last name anymore)
This time, I’m not including her at all. I also noticed on the list of ties that they consider family relationship in the Uk, aunt is not listed. I had to type on the field in my last application. The former was something around trip budget not matching my disposable income and my employers CAC being inactive leading to doubts on my employment status (weird because my payslips etc were there). The CAC thing has since been rectified

Again, if you think I should wait to build credibility, I will. I am also so keen to clear the refusal record (it annoys me till date since they’re the only ones who have denied me a visa). Your guidance will be appreciated!

I have said this story so many times, so I’d spare you the details. I’d close this with three points:

1. It’s definitely attainable! I heard about this French route a few years ago but I kept telling myself “nahh, the scores would go down, I shouldn’t have to go to this length or kill myself this much”. Last year confirmed this wouldn’t be the case with the trend of the draws, and I had to dive into action. All thanks to people who shared their timelines and stories honestly on this platform to encourage others. I saw it was possible for others juggling job, family, and many other things and figured I could do this also.

2. Find a community! This is super important. This journey is challenging especially for English speakers, starting from scratch (A0,A1 etc). It is not one of those things or hurdles you navigate privately ooo 😂, it is emotionally and mentally arduous. Thus, you need ALL the support you can get (from relatable stories/experiences, astuces, conseils, and exam stories). One of the communities you can leverage is the Telegram group (I discovered this only after my first attempt). Shoutout to those amazing human beings!!! Madam Labelle, ma belle (in her words), you all are too too much! God Bless You!

3. Leverage all resources possible but don’t overwhelm yourself with them. Get a tutor that can guide you and narrow your focus on the most important tools/resources. My tutor was instrumental in this entire journey (I posted previously about this). If you can, try to enjoy the process. If you can’t enjoy it for whatever reason…. just focus on the target and do your best. Ca va aller. Que Dieu nous aide

If you’re familiar with the requirements, you’d already know I have to rewrite as I needed 10 extra points in CO only, for this result to suffice. All this to say, please practice the past questions to stupor lol. It’s annoying because it’s just one section making me spend this money again and worst, the earliest date is June 3rd. But c’est pas grave, people have had it worse and they didn’t relent so we go again. Thanks for all your support and encouragement. Btw, would try responding again to the moniker who asked for the questions, if this site doesn’t ban me

Well done! Do you remember your EO and EE questions please? EO especially.
Sorry for the delayed response. I actually responded since the day you asked but they keep banning and deleting my posts.

I’ll have to find a way to share it. Does anyone know if a picture screenshot would also lead to a ban if the questions are in French?

Thank you for sharing your experience and congratulations in advance. Tbh, you have really done well whether you get the B2 haut or bas, because girl look at how far you’ve come in just seven months! I started earlier than you did in July and I’ve postponed my exam twice now because I don’t feel ready yet 🫣 Dieu m’aide!
Thanks a lot! I know this feeling and that’s what stopped me from registering in February. I realized I wasn’t sure I’d ever feel “ready” (it’s a language proficiency exam with two subjective tests), you just have to take that leap either way. I wish you success in advance!!
