ExcellencyFSA:I think you can take lekki-Ajah(those white buses) and stop at freedom way bus stop I think. You have to cross to the other side and walk inside lekki. VFS is just down that road. You can’t miss it because there’s always a crowd outside |
crusader6:To give some perspective, I work with a well known multinational and we have a lot of trainings in Belgium. We were denied some months back for some of our applicants because 1. I think that embassy is generally tougher to deal with, and listen, they verify almost everything you submit if not all. They will reach out to every contact listed and if one thing is off or different, you will be refused the visa. In our case, we foolishly opted for dummy bookings instead of actual hotel reservations which we typically would have (and have) used previously. We applied again, declared the refusal, fixed the hotel proof with actual letters from the hotel and got it. The second denial was with another set where ambiguity of purpose of trip caused wahala too. So with Belgium, just keep your application easy (don’t inflate number of days you’re staying at all!!! It’s better to get a 3days duration valid for three weeks than to get a refusal! In fact, I’d recommend nothing more than 4-5days max and ask for a single entry visa!) and make sure the accommodation confirmation, conference contact details etc are valid and reachable because their DVO (department of verification blah blah) works hard to refuse anyone. I honestly wouldn’t recommend them for tourism though. So declaring a refusal is not always a bad thing especially if you’ve rectified the flags. We have someone who reapplied through France, first time traveller and got feedback in 8 days last month, refusal from Belgium was also declared with cover letter and multiple entry visa of 3 months validity (30days) was granted despite applying for single entry. So yeah, don’t think declaring a refusal is anything to worry about. |
directonpc:For Belgium, they’re quite strict. For hotel reservations, make sure it’s a letter from the hotel confirming your stay. They’re quite strict about this requirement and have denied visa applications that were submitted with just dummy bookings. Goodluck! |
Ijaay83:Wow, impeccable timing. If you don’t mind, Can you please summarize your application here e.g trip budget, duration, etc |
Bmuhd4smile:Congrats! Did you still declare 800pounds as your trip expense? And did you have previous visas? |
XYZJAZZY:The truth is, once your employer’s status is inactive in that portal, it increases the scrutiny on your application and casts doubts on every other thing you’ve claimed in relation to that employment (especially if you now submitted many company related documents e.g introduction letters, etc etc). If you’ve now claimed your employment is your major source of income, then they’ll over stress on your account statement, if anything seems off or even slightly different from what you’ve claimed/declared, then that’s wahala #2. Even if your company is so popular that it works with the UK government itself, the ECOs are bound to remain objective by working with whatever information you directly provided, what can be inferred/assumed mostly from it and their checklists and this might include things like confirming an active status on the CAC portal etc. So yes, it counts. For you to successfully jump over that flag, the other parts of your application/documentation must be super super straightforward or your ECO must be one of those “innocent until proven guilty” humans. Judging from the way the decisions are taken, it seems visa decisions run with the idea of “guilty until proven innocent” |
Jayyjay:If your company is sponsoring you for a business trip, aren’t they supposed to provide accommodation by default or guarantee payment for it? Anyway, no you can’t claim you’d be staying in a hotel and not show evidence. Especially for a business trip. |
Daniel2802:You can also try a schengen short stay visa. Italy or France, since holders of Schengen visas can also visit this Montenegro according to what you shared. I personally prefer Schengen visa applications to UK. France only requires three months bank statements and their TAT is usually less than 3 weeks. Problem now is, availability of appointment for first time travelers as the closest available date was already in June as at last week. |
But jokes aside, I think they will begin scrutinizing (student) visa applications a lot more moving forward. Not sure if they have quotas for it but they’re probably close to whatever targets they’ve set and will probably be more critical of people’s candidacy. |
TCD:Why did I read this in an “angry parent” tone??! ![]() In all honesty, I was laughing my head off reading that refusal letter. @OP, this is what I think 1. Don’t bother wasting your time, money and effort(s) for an AR. They clearly have a recording of your call with them and the nature of responses provided from your end is enough grounds to refuse you a student visa, especially for a PG course! Excuses could have been made for an undergrad with zero tertiary education/experience. 2. You should have requested to interview at another time, if possible. It’s totally understandable if you have a conflict/clashing schedule and I’m sure with a well written email, they could have accommodated your request and rescheduled (I may be wrong). However, I understand you panicked and resorted to having the interview anyway. 3. In any case, on what grounds would you even be requesting for AR? I am surprised to hear that you were interviewed for a student visa as that’s not a common scenario. My guess is that they already concluded on a possible refusal but scheduled the interview for avoidance of doubt. Possible reason could be that something was off in your application, in their opinion. Just indulge my curiosity… I really would like to hear your perspective on why you think the refusal is unfounded |
Femaleoutfit:Hi, good morning. On this issue of submitting a business bank statement for a tourist visa, if you read even just a page back on this thread, you’d see that it usually does not play out well because the visa officers don’t believe it’s an ideal scenario for a company account to be utilized for personal purposes and they have doubts that the funds in a business account will always be available for personal use. I’d strongly advise against it. If you can use a second account in addition to the business’, please do so. |

I’m not sure why Nigerians like to behave this way. All these factors you’ve raised are the norm in mega cities or cities that have a diverse populace due to immigration. It’s not the first time and it will definitely not be the last time (especially with increase of digital nomads) that influx of immigrants would drive cost of rent up and cause people (lower income earners) to have to adjust to sub standard forms of accommodation. It’s part of the growing pains of any country leveraging population for economic growth. Look at some of the biggest cities/countries today and they all face/faced these same issues at some point. Not saying the concerns are thus invalid. But let’s not act like these weren’t taken into consideration when Canada decided to open their borders and set targets for immigration. Besides the borders aren’t going to be open forever/infinitely. This idea of “now that I’ve benefitted, the others can go to hell” is so rampant in Nigeria especially. You see it even in workplaces. We need to stop. Pretty sure the Asians don’t think this way and they’re also some of the worlds biggest migrants. If Nigerians in Canada and other beneficiaries of the various PR pathways are this pressed about it, they should return to their fatherlands where housing isn’t an issue then, and bank manager jobs abound. Jokers. In Lagos, we’re facing some of the biggest housing issues for similar reasons; “Migration in hope of better”. Let’s not act more aggrieved/self-righteous than the real owners of the land. |
giselle237:And I really like chilled malt o, you got me ![]() |
Harmony63:An MBA is literally a masters degree, just in business administration. Why would an MSc be recognized/accepted and an MBA wouldn’t. With how expensive and “prestigious” it usually is. |
mckellenkins: you’re hilarious. Why would using a new passport nullify your previous denials. Unless the passport carries an entirely different identity, name and biometrics . You must think developed countries are like the Banana Republic we run in most WA countries where data and records are our biggest issues. With this intentionally criminal act, you’re clearly deserving of all the denials you’ve gotten. Goodluck beating the system though. I should have known from the first question. I mean, coming here to ask us if you should lie on your application (knowing fully well the “appropriate” option) is usually a red flag. |
Twostep:From my experience, it counts. That was the first reason quoted on my refusal slip. But I also think it depends of the mood of the ECO and how solid the rest of your documentation is, because I’ve seen people who got their visas with their companies being inactive on that portal (and btw, sooooo many reputable companies are inactive on there). I wonder why so much credence is given to something so unreliable. It’s not even a question of how popular (or not) your company is. Apparently that website is their source of truth, whether your company is a multinational or not. I’d advise you try to speak to(not instruct😂) the team that handles your CAC status. I have zero intentions to apply until it’s rectified. And I am applying all the necessary pressure to get it closed out ASAP. |
Qwertyuser:They held a PNP draw? |
Sweetlikehoney:You have a solid profile, a Canadian PR and you’re not applying from Nigeria. I’m not confirming the scrutiny is less for this type of applications, but it is, if we’re being honest. I have a friend who has a US green card(about 1.5 years since she got it) and applied from the US. She didn’t even have more than 1000 dollars in her account at the time of the application, and didn’t submit any introduction letter from her employer and she got her Visa with zero travel history except her relocation trip to the US. All the calcu and planning we have to do here and in many third world countries even as genuine visitors to UK,EU and US, you’re lucky to avoid that with the kind of visitor profile you have. The realities differ. Summarized response is, you’re good to go. |
MadeMan01:As at Jan, it was the new terminal. |
arasola2000:He should get flight tickets reservations m, attach to documents uploaded and review that trip budget downwards. |
ekpanbaghi:No. When you get to TLS and they are doing the initial review of your docs, just tell them you want to add an additional document you forgot to upload. You’ll pay sha, the same price you’d have paid for assisted service initially, which in my opinion, is so annoying. I think it’s about 13k approximately. They’d make the upload on your behalf. |
Longjonjoe:Honestly, that budget is a lot. I hope you have a bank closing balance that’s at least 4x that amount. I think next time draw your budget without flights especially if that’s what inflated the total like this. Goodluck |
infosoftlife:I agree. My family member is a British citizen though, and has been for about 7 years now. But thanks, I do think it’s best to “rest” at this point. |
I have been following this thread for a while now and just observing, reading people’s experiences so I learn a thing or two before putting my application forward. Thanks to everyone who keeps this thread active and flowing with advice and suggestions I heard the refusal rate for uk visit visa has significantly increased this past month but went ahead nonetheless. And now, after receiving a refusal with the most ridiculous reasons, I can say I’m fully convinced something is wrong with the vetting system. I am also not able to appeal the decision, which is very disappointing. The decision came out in 4 working days post biometrics and this was not a priority or super priority appointment btw. Reason for refusal was tied to 1. Doubt on my employer (which is crazy because I work at a multinational of great repute - they claim my employer couldn’t be found on CAC’s website as a valid company, howww?? I literally use our CAC document to process permits for incoming Expats of various nationalities and with 100% success, I also had all sorts of supporting documentation to prove my employment), 2. Declared funds being 3x my disposable income despite having a solid statement (I had a closing balance of approx 2m and lump sum was clearly explained with bonus memo and payslip) showing flow of funds from my employer, and a strong LOE explaining all these in detail, payslips for 6 months, an introduction letter from my employer as well as a supplementary statement from another account of mine). They also stated a budget of 1.1m is too much for a short stay trip and gives them reason to doubt that I would leave the UK. I used this budget inclusive of flights (in my head) but in hindsight, maybe I should have declared half of that instead especially since I’d be staying with family. All in all, the decision is unfounded. And I’m completely stunned as I also have good travel history within Africa and to two Schengen states and never had an immigration issue or visa denial. The latter part of this upsets me the most because these guys have now spoilt my record undeservedly. If I saw this coming, I would have just applied for a Schengen visa jeje and saved myself this headache, and some money. At this point, and with these flimsy decisions given without due diligence, I am not sure what more one can do to prove their application is genuine. It is well |
EsoEso:You've assumed she's a weak woman and at the mercy of her husband. This is a woman who funded the financial requirements for this journey alone so I doubt hiring an immigration lawyer is going to be the herculean task you're making it to be. From every post you've made here, You're one of those men that see women as lesser beings. A typical patriarchy champion using phrases like "her humble apology", "apologize for peace sake", "we are Africans, let's do this the traditional way" (the traditional way of women always taking the blame, suffering in silence and dying while alive in their marriages). You've been casually making jokes out of the wicked situation this man has put his hevaily pregnant wife in by saying things like "he's just chilling in a hotel flexing" with a sprinkle of fake clownish emojis here and there. You're not even suggesting a facade apology just so she gets out of the situation and escapes that man, you're suggesting an apology so she can appeal to a man's narcissistic ego and continue to bear the emotional abuse just so "peace can reign" (peace, in this case, being the man's wounded ego getting all the attention and repair it doesn't even need while she wallows). You're clearly enjoying this drama and the fact that this women is visibly distressed. Smh. We know your type This is not to discredit the fact that men go through their fair share of problems in marriage, after all they're human beings and not gods. So if women face their own share of problems, they would too. But since the husband can play foolish games and jokes like saynomoore suggested as a possibility, aunty madam, I suggest you play the same game with him. You absolutely do not negotiate with a terrorist. It's a slippery slope and you'll find yourself in another headache shortly afterwards. Speak with an immigration lawyer that can advise you on the best way to handle this situation. . Also share what we have all advised and vet your options. It is well. May the Holy Spirit grant you discernment and the wisdom needed to overcome this situation. |
Allegory:Also very confused. If anyone has seen theirs, please show us the way |
ChristabelleD:I will advise you to remain dogged on this. There's always that one official that would sort this WES thing, even with the ongoing strike. Unfortunately, the only problem is you'd have to "grease their palm"... that's the state of things in this country, you pay extra for common things. Try and find out who this is, students would know. I found out mine through twitter searches using keywords related to my uni (not RSUST btw) and transcript/WES process |
Prettiepearlz:If the pass mark is 40/50, I support prettipearlz's suggestion. CIMA has a pass mark of 70% which is crazy especially when you dont have a background in accounting/finance |
Clairita:Nobody can confirm if it's faster or better dear. It depends on what works for you. How good are you with languages/finance related stuff or how good are you with learning/picking up new things? If you don't have a finance background, try reading through the syllabus/topic breakdown for each module in CIMA to decide if it's a challenge you're willing to take on. You can also do this with TEF. There's also the cost aspect of things. How much would CIMA cost you if you clear all papers at one sitting? The minimum it would cost you is 428 pounds and at the current exchange rate, that's about 300k . I don't know about TEF though but cost is also a big factor with this decision. There's also time for preparation. How much time can you spare..which of the two exams would require more time and efforts from you... Nothing good comes easy. Both exams aren't easy but they're great options! |
Clairita:Hi Clairita! Just wanted to advise you based on my own experience. Start your evaluation now! Contrary to the responses you received, you can make payment for evaluation of two certificates and begin evaluating one(most probably your degree) while you complete the other (in this case, CIMA). I also want to correct a response that said CIMA certificate is only available in January. You don't even need your certificate for evaluation, once you're done with the Cert in Business Accounting, all you need is your transcript and letter of good standing. I got mine sent to WES and my evaluation completed within a week of writing my last paper. The certificate should get to me soon, I heard it takes about 6 weeks to be ready. I'm saying this because you do not know for sure, how long your institution would take to respond to WES and send all required documents. It took UI 15months to complete mine for no sensible reason. So please start your evaluation process immediately! Also the exchange rate is getting worse daily! Better to close your eye and gather money to pay for two certificates evaluation at once. Once you're done with your certificate (if you choose to do CIMA) or if you opt for any other self-paced diploma, you can upload the results as soon as you're done. Thats my two cents. |
I paid £75 for each paper. So 150 for the two. Danny175: |
