Visa Alert‼️

Just to encourage someone here.

I just picked up my visa from Tls this morning

I was granted 3months with 30days stay multiple entry.

This is my second Schengen visa.

The first one was in 2022 I got 1 month with 15days validity with single entry.

This group have been very helpful, you don’t need any agent once you follow the guide in this group.

Thanks so much for all the people who has contributed to this thread.
Wow congrats! I am surprised they granted a visa that long actually, especially since it’s your second. Enjoy your trip!

Ayy Félicitations !!!

1. I'm glad you were able to call her out and get it addressed. I'm non-confrontational especially towards a teacher/lecturer, but I hope she corrects it moving forward. She is GOOD at what she does.

2. I used the other and more popular site formation-tcf by Ayoub and yes it WAS everything. Free past questions in EE and EO and the subscription for CO and CE. This part is compulsory (in my eyes), if you want to take TCF... Won't say more...lol

3. A moniker had spoken about the keyboard in use for the exam, and I adjusted accordingly. Downloaded the french version of the QWERTY keyboard on my phone and laptop and dropped the usual AZERTY. YES to needing to click the accents on the screen, what a time waster! Hopefully they correct this.

4. Information is power. I wish you'd had more time with those packs. A month with them is golden. I'll also not say more here... grin

5. As for the B2 haut et bas, it's more TEF although there's a balance now with the new format, although I hear IRCC is yet to implement it.
What you need is the score not just the CLB, you need 450 and above for CO and CE, 10 and up for EE and EO.
Anything lower even if it's B2 won't cut it.

For someone who got serious with this in September, you've done great!!! Rest easy and sleep well tonight grin
Looking forward to celebrating with you!!
1. Thank you so much Aurorae1. I typed a reply to this but got banned that day so It wasn’t posted. Honestly I struggled with the decision to confront her, since my priority was just writing this exam. But I didn’t want her to lose clients to that factor especially since we can all agree that she has mastered the “pedagogy” (which btw is a word I never used in English until I learnt it in French LOL)

2. I realized I already said too much about those resources, don’t want any wahala so I’d stop here but 100% agreed.

Thanks a lot for the kind words!! Again, whatever the outcome is, I’d come back to share here. Take care!

Congratulations on completing the exams and I hope the results are as you desire when you receive them.

I’m a little confused about the part you said you needed to write accents with a keyboard, I was under the impression that the EE is pen and paper based while the CO and CE are are computer based MCQs. Could you please clarify why you needed to enter texts that require accents with a keyboard?
It seems I got banned from this platform after my initial post lol. No, all exams except EO (speaking) are computer based. Well for e-TCF though…there are paper based versions I’ve heard but I think it’s mostly done outside of Nigeria.

To your last question - Because French words have accents cheesy not all, but most of them and that counts towards your scoring I think. The keyboard provided at AF Lagos is the regular querty version but it’s stiff, old and stressful, you can only insert accents using the onscreen keyboard. I think there’s a technique to including accents using their keyboard but not sure since it only ever happened by error during my experience.

In the spirit of transparency and sharing, j’ai voulu vous partager que j’ai passe mon examen aujourd’hui. If I could go back, what would I do differently?

1. I’d stick to Madam Bizang (but only because her foundational classes are exceptional). I know someone had raised a complaint about her attitude and I mentioned it could be due to a barrier in language and culture. However, I eventually got a glimpse of what this person had described which honestly demoralized me and I had to call it out to her.

2. However, in addition to coaching and the immersion (French podcasts etc) I’d honestly focus fully on using the past questions packs on réussirTCFcanada point com. I’ll tell you for free that a lot of the questions in EE and EO were all in their past questions which made these sections super breezy for me. Sharing some at the end of this message. There are 30 combinations for CO and CE, and I am willing to bet that if someone can finish these 60 combinations, you wouldn’t get less than C1 if you have a good memory and are super intentional about the mock exams

3. I’d request an adapted keyboard. The keyboard being used at AF Lagos is despicable. The keys are stiff and most times, you have to go back to correct what you’ve written because the keys are jammed somewhat. Also, adding the accents is tougher because you have to consciously pause and select the accent on the screen. A candidate who had written previously had requested for this during his registration and he received a wonderful adapted Azerty keyboard during the exam to all our envies.

4. I cannot repeat this enough. Practice the exam packs on that website over and over and over again for all épreuves! My only regret is not starting them earlier than last week. Even for CO and CE, saw a few repeated questions.

Things to note: you don’t control the time with CO. Each question has a set duration so you have to wait till the timer runs out to go to the next question. It would have been preferable to have control over the pace of CO. For CE, you control the pace.

Finally, I got B2 in both CO and CE but now I heard there’s a B2 “haut” and B2 “bas”. And I didn’t pay attention to the scores because I thought the grades mattered most. Additionally, I had to leave the room immediately after, so little to no time to take note of it. Now I’m anxious because I’m not sure I got B2 haut as I can’t remember seeing any 500s in either scores. I guess we’ll wait and see in three weeks as they advised. I’m super anxious and don’t even feel as relieved as I thought I would.

Finally, practice past questions till you’re sick of it!! I wish I had and if I have to rewrite this, I wouldn’t fret at all given this experience I now have. Again, it’s me…the one who started actively learning in September…I think all things are possible with a little determination. I’ll definitely try again if that’s required eventually!

Good morning guys. I’ll be traveling to France and my fiancé who’s in Spain will be joining me in Paris. In whose name should the hotel booking be? Mine or his or can we have both? (He’s the one sponsoring my trip). Also, I’ll be going from Nigeria to france and from Spain back to Nigeria (i plan on visiting Spain and I’ve booked my return flight from Spain to Nigeria). This is not a problem yeah? Lastly, do I need to show travel itinerary at the point of entry?
Is this for visa application purposes or the actual travel itself? If it’s for the trip itself, once you’ve gotten the visa and as long as you try to enter though the issuing country, it doesn’t matter where you exit the Schengen territory from tbh. Same with hotel itinerary. It’s okay to show one in your finance’s name, shouldn’t be a big deal if you can prove relationship (if it ever is required)

This is strange. Why would the account name for a federal parastatal or body be a personal account e.g Oba Olufon . That’s very suspicious. He shouldn’t send any money yet

Is there a direct flight from Lagos to Spain?
Very good question because I don’t think there are direct flights to Spain from Lagos. Also if you got your visa through France, I’d advise you get a flight to Spain that connects through CDG Paris just so you’re stamped in at the French borders.

Air France connects through Amsterdam and Paris to get to Spain, best to book a connecting flight through France so there’s a record of getting stamped by the issuing country at least.

I saw it and didn't even know what to say.
It's highly disappointing. Furthermore they believe Nigerians will say nothing, take it in stride and still struggle to raise the money. It's plain extortion.
We need these bodies to charge naira rates for these exams, we don't earn in Euros.
I saw a change.org petition for it today, dunno how much good it'll do but I did sign up.
It’s really bad. I googled the cost for this exam in CAD and it’s less than 380. Even at black market rates, that exam should never be that high (NGN700k) ! It’s pure extortion. I can’t stand Alliance Française

The price has changed. It's 700k as of this morning 😓😓😓
Jesus is lord! This is horrible! The exam is hard enough, imagine the anxiety that comes with knowing the price changes every market day. Something just pushed me to pay for mine on Monday and it was the fact that the dates were disappearing fast! The 456k was even super upsetting but I just had to close eye

This is really crazy. AF is just extorting people, because the percentage change in the exchange rates since Jan does not fully justify the change from 189k to 700k

Hello,
Has anyone recently applied for a visa using this TLS. I don’t know why they changed it from VSF. This is my 4th visa application and it usually comes out in 3-4 days. It’s been over a week and nothing yet. I’m tracking it and it’s saying processing. I don’t get. Did anyone else’s application take this long?
Yeah the response time has changed slightly, probably because we’re in peak periods already.
TAT is 5-8 days now depending on whether you opted for pickup or courier (takes 1 day longer)

Thank you ! wink I wonder o, and they weren’t like this previously. Based on previous standards, they would have given a 6months visa.

Congratulations Thelma
Did you reserve tours for the purpose of the visa application?
No I didn’t and I don’t think it’s necessary. I’ve never submitted more than a one-pager cover letter summarizing my application and profile and hotel/flight bookings.

Also, a colleague of mine applied last week Tuesday, same simple application and she got the visa yesterday… multiple entry 10days.

I think the simpler and more detailed it is, the better

Hello everyone, a friend forgot to include her travel itinerary in the document she submitted, I want to know if this can affect the outcome of her visa or if there is any remedy to this.
What do you mean by travel itinerary? The flight bookings or hotel bookings? Also, how was this not caught by the VAC agents? Smh for them. Well, she can only hope for the best at this point if it’s either of the two things mentioned above because I know those things matter, with Schengen visas.

. How did you book hotel reservations for free please? They keep asking me for money in the card
I used booking dot com. You just have to make sure you’re selecting a hotel that allows you to pay at the venue upon arrival and free cancellation. They will ask for your card details but they won’t deduct anything. Done this twice now and no issues.
I know the feedback usually comes in timely so there’s no chance that they’d have swiped the card before then.

And again why they stingy with Visa so. The 3 rd time they still give you 1 months. So how do you qualify for a 1 year visa . Is it after 5 times wey you don go come back? lol or you have to specifically ask for it on your application?
I think my next visa would be a longer term one. I think it remains at the discretion of the embassy to grant it or not. I applied for multiple entry and said I would be visiting France later in the year but I was granted a single entry visa. Also recall I didn’t use my second visa so that could have played a part

Submitted last week Tuesday, got it 5 working days after…..I was expecting it then (that’s their usual timeline actually). I noticed the visa vignette was stamped that same day I got the notice for pickup. Didn’t pay for delivery because UPS and co are funny sometimes, they hold onto visa packages for so long !

See ehn, I was confident I was going to get the visa. I had less than this balance when I got a Uk visa.. don’t know why France is moving mad
I pray you get yours.
I think UK is even worse lol but Thank you, I got it. They granted a 30day Visa valid for two months but single entry. I can’t complain as it’s better than a rejection. Additionally, the end date is in the last month I can travel with my passport since it expires 6months after…so that could have influenced the validity. The lady ahead of me got a rejection and she mentioned she had reapplied after the first rejection. Reason was something around the justification for the trip or so. She claimed to have submitted a “healthy balance/statement”. It is well. I knew the outcome before she mentioned it because when she opened her envelope, there was an A4 paper in it.

Note: this is my third Schengen visa but I only used one previously as the second one, I had a change in travel plans. I forgot to put the bookings for the Spain leg of the trip (I mentioned I’d be visiting two countries but forgot my hotel booking for Spain although the flight tickets showed the correct plans). Also, I’m single and my closing balance was exactly 2.9m and not more. It could be true that they’re really not granting a lot of visas to first time Schengen region Travellers because there was nothing soooo special about my profile….a mon avis.

Letter of introduction from my employer
Letter of employment
Pay slips
Statement of accounts with 6.9m closing balance
Travel insurance
Return Flight tickets reservation
Hotel reservation
Itinerary
Cover letter
Previous visas (Uk and some Asian countries)
Entry and exit stamps
Leave letter
Reference letter

I have never stayed beyond 8 days in any of my trips which is always within my visa validity… so I really wonder why they doubt that I will return
Wow this is scaring me o, I wasn’t worried before and didn’t give my application much thought…I even applied with half of this balance LOL. Anyway, now I guess I’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out. Both my previous Schengen visas were granted with less than 2.5m balance. The first was even 900k as balance but I can attribute that to the fact that it was a business funded trip, the second I applied for was just last July and it was ~2.1m.
Really scary because you appear to have a good traveller profile from the listed documents submitted

I agree with u. As much as you as a student have to put in alot of work, a great teacher pointing you in the right direction and guiding you does a whole lot of good.
Thank you. Besides, nobody ever forced anyone to patronize a particular resource or teacher. There are tons of tutors, use anyone you like but KNOW that it is possible to improve your proficiency in a certain window. Nobody said it would be easy or guaranteed with a certain tutor but it’s possible.

Final note: there is a difference between someone who knows how to speak French, someone who knows how to teach French and someone who has mastered training students to a certain proficiency for specific reasons. Do your research. Shalom!

Okay, let's assume you are a genius or you are at the upper end when it comes to "knowing how to learn", the main issue is you and NOT a "magic teacher"... let me assume everything you wrote is true, less than 5% of the population is on that level, so it is unrealistic for "regular people" with a full-time job living in Nigeria to advance super fast.

I said something like this in 2022, guys please if you are thinking of learning French or you have just started learning French "Be very WARY of unrealistic stories!" - They are almost always just marketing gimmicks pushed by "magic teachers".
Oga rest. Nobody ever said my progress was solely because of another person’s teaching ability. I give myself due credit. However, I’m letting people know what IS possible. You’re focusing on what IS NOT. How does that ever help the type of audience we have here (often people who have exhausted other means of raising their CRS scores and are looking for a way out). There are people who have learnt with other tutors and grown at a much slower pace and upon switching tutors or learning methods, they picked up. So yes, tutors with great teaching skills should be appreciated and recognized.

If that hurts your little ego and idle schedule, sorry.

It was 10 days validity so it expires in 3 day 🤣🤣🤭. Waste of money and effort

They also asked me to report back when o come back from my trip. So I told them at TLs that I won’t be able to travel so they noted it

I’ll apply again . Hopefully they give me . This one wasn’t my fault

Thank you Thelma , If not for your reply, my passport would still be sitting at TLS
It was issued since 5th October
I’m sorry about that Agatha sad . I really don’t know why TLS behaved this way. But I am sure you can apply again and get it provided you still meet the requirements. I’d advise you state clearly in your cover letter what happened and how you received your passport so late. This should help in convincing them to grant another one
