A people must learn how to plan their politics as a people, else, they will become the political pawns of other people. The absence of this mindset is what to me, is the bane of the Igbo political liberation. I was not yet here when the Igbos were deservingly having a good cruise on the Nigerian political chessboard, but a look at the few history books we can still lay our hands on point to that reality. There was a time in this country when the Igbos had a very good hold on power at the center, and were top in the military setup of the country. But all that were to change after the unfortunate coup of July 1966, which some ethnic bigots ignorantly refer to as “July Rematch”. After this coup, deliberate efforts were made by those in authority to ensure that the Igbos never came close to power and the Igbo man’s influence in Nigeria’s security, civil service and even social setup, considerably waned. Every effort made to also suppress our economic power and influence has failed to stick. The fact that the economic gang-up against the Igbos has failed to work should tell us that it is possible to successfully resist the political persecution against us. I have always argued that the idea of secession is cowardly and I am also aware that majority of those championing this secessionist struggles do not really mean it, as confirmed recently by Lt. Col. Achuzia who is not only the Board of Trustees Chairman of the rampaging Indigenous Peoples’ of Biafra (IPOB), but also a former high ranking functionary of the Biafran Republic in the three years that country existed. In granting an interview to some journalists, recently, the former scribe of the Ohaneze Ndigbo and a highly successful soldier whose escapades in the civil war earned the sobriquet; Hannibal, restated categorically what I have always believed and vented; that the Igbos or Biafrans are not really seeking to break away from Nigeria, but are interested in being fairly treated in a united Nigeria. In other words, the Igbos wants equity and nothing more. Fair competition brings justice, and that is exactly what the Igbos is asking for and no Nigerian leadership group at any time in the history of this country will have peace if this is not granted. 2019 election season is one of the best opportunities for the Nigerian State to take necessary steps in amending the political wrongs it has done to the Igbo people of Nigeria, but Nigerians of other ethnicities cannot do this if the Igbos for whom this demand is being made do not show enough hunger and preparedness for this struggle. Political philosophers and politicians are long agreed on the fact that; “power is not given, it must be taken.” What inspires a good number of Igbos agitating for Biafran secession is not their lost of interest in remaining Nigerians, for there is no ethnic group in today’s Nigeria who can lay more claim to Nigeria than the Igbos, nor is there any group who love Nigeria more than the Igbos, what spurs the loud cry for secession from a section of the Igbo people is the obvious political marginalization of the Igbo people, mostly accentuated by the reality that no Igbo has become the President of Nigeria since 1967. The core promoters of the Biafran secessionist ideology capitalize on this reality to spin all manners of propaganda in order to deceive a good number of the people and sell their self-serving ideologies. One of such propaganda is that there is a conspiracy among members of the Northern Nigeria ruling class in collusion with our Yoruba siblings to shut the Igbos out of the Nigerian presidency forever. Because power is not something you beg for, rather what you negotiate for, I believe that no matter whatever conspiracy there might be anywhere, there is nothing stopping an Igbo man or woman from becoming Nigeria’s President, except the Igbo men and women themselves. Igbos are the most conspirators against the Igbo presidency ambition than any other ethnic group or elitist class. Currently, the Igbos constitute the loudest bulk in the yet to be confirmed presidential campaign of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, while they also feature prominently in Sule Lamido and Umar Nasko’s yet to be announced presidential campaign teams. The most unfortunate thing about this is that most of these Igbo young men and women championing the presidential ambitions of these Northern politicians have not being formally consulted nor contracted by these men or their representatives to team up with them. They embark on this most unfortunate campaign as a way of getting the attention of these Northern politicians. This portrays us as cheap and easily buyable. truly, everyone enjoys the freedom to support any candidate in an election or even hold or promote any political ideology, but we must always remember that all politics is local, even in the most modern places. At this stage in the buildup to the 2019 elections, every true born Igbo should be promoting the Igbo presidency agenda, till such a time as it may have been confirmed to be unattainable, at least, this time around. We cannot afford not to have tried enough and still come back to say that we are being marginalized. We must have to make a legitimate and tenacious push for what we want as a people and when we don’t succeed, posterity will know that we gave it our best and our all. If the Igbos won’t get the presidency this time around, it has to be because the incumbent President wants a second tenure, and in that case we must negotiate seriously for the Vice-Presidential position, if he decides to try a new deputy outside Professor Yemi Osinbajo who presently holds that position. With Buhari doing a second tenure, the Igbo presidency dream would be delayed by just four more years, but with a new Northern presidential candidate like Atiku Abubakar, Umar Nasko or Sule Lamido emerging as President this time around, the Igbos will have to wait another long eight years at the least before they can make a credible push at the presidency. This is certainly not a palatable option to any politically conscious Igbo. It has to be stated here that while it is the right of the Igbos to demand and actually fight to fill in one of their own as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, no law of the Federal Republic would have been broken if this doesn’t happen, hence, the need for the Igbos, especially the political class to unite behind this agenda and work assiduously towards its attainment. One of the reasons why the Northerners seem to be dominating the Nigerian political space is not really because of their large population, but more as a result of the ever-readiness of their political class, to negotiate and compromise. The North believe more in the general interest of the North than the narrowness of individualism which has hurt the Igbo politics more than any other thing. The idea of every Igbo politician aspiring to displace the other Igbo in order to get whatever he or she wants without considering the bigger interest of the entire Igbo people is a problem which the Igbo political leadership must look for ways to tackle, if we must make any real impact in our bid to reinvent our politics and take charge of the center. We must learn to unite behind someone not because that person is superior to us, but because Nature has allowed that person to be in a position that he or she is more acceptable not just to the Igbos but to other ethnic nationalities in the country. We must develop the mindset of our thing rather than the prevailing mindset of ‘my own’, which has remained the bane of our politics. We cannot be looking for a saint to go for us, because the search for such will be eternal and impossible. In looking for the captain of a team, we do not look the way of the most prolific scorer, nor do we appoint the best dribbler, but the one whom Nature has placed in his or her shoulders the ability to lead others and the acceptability needed to galvanize the necessary support. This should inform our choice. Some of our Igbo siblings who have elected to lead the campaign for another Northern presidential candidate outside the incumbent President Buhari are actually doing this out of some kind of political frustration; they think that since the Igbos have being trying to make a case for an Igbo president of Nigeria, since 1967 without success, the option may as well be to accept failure and continue to serve those who ‘were born to rule’. This mindset is defeatist and should not be sustained, especially at a time like this when respected analysts have signified as the “Igbos best chance since after the civil war, to negotiate successfully for the nation’s top job.” We must not fail to pick valuable lessons from the way the Northerners approach their struggle for power. When in 2011, the North felt understandably shortchanged by the decision of former President Goodluck Jonathan to seek re-election, thereby distorting the peculiar zoning formula of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the leaders of the Party teamed up together in an attempt, in the first place to wrestle the Party’s presidential ticket from him by putting Atiku Abubakar forward as its sole presidential candidate. When this failed, they went beyond Party lines to mobilize support discreetly and openly for the candidature of General Muhammadu Buhari who ran under the platform of the CPC. When these efforts could not yield the desired result, they did not go back to their various homes to complain and lick their wounds, they rather rolled up their sleeves and went to work, immediately after the 2011 elections to ensure that the presidency do not elude them by the next election year. Being a people who have a good grasp of the Nigerian political game, they knew that insisting on fighting to wrestle the control of the ruling PDP from the President would be very difficult if not impossible, hence, their idea of destroying or at least weakening that Party, then, merging other smaller political Parties to form a more formidable political Party, which today is the ruling Party. The Igbos cannot continue to wait for when everything is alright or for them to be given the presidency on a platter of gold. They must work for it, they must think about it and they must negotiate for it, but in negotiating, they must not negotiate from a point of weakness, but from a position of strength. The Igbos must work so hard and plan so well that other ethnic nationalities will have no option but to coalesce their interests into theirs for the good of the nation. I will conclude this particular edition of this article by pointing us to the first major step towards the attainment of this long-desired goal; identifying a political Party platform. We must identify a formidable political Party platform and be sure of having good control over the structures of that Party. There is no doubt that the ruling APC should be our first option, but it cannot be our only option, for there is no one route to power. The Igbos must not be left behind in the proposed Mega Party which some politicians in the country are marketing. We must guard against the bitter experiences of 2015, when the Igbos put all their political eggs in one basket-the PDP and support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term ambition. But for the foresight of leaders like Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Senator Chris Ngige, and few others, the Igbos would have completely lost out in the Nigerian political equation. The little bargaining power we have today comes from Okorocha’s foresight and well-deserved victory which has made Imo State the only Southeast State under the control of the ruling APC. Southeastern political leaders should not be taken unawares in the horse-trading that is going within the top leading Parties in the country, and even the proposed mega Party. MAY WE HAVE A GREAT 2017

The Executive Director in charge of Public Sector at First Bank, Mallam Dauda Lawal, that was recently arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for allegedly laudering millions of dollars for the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Deziani Alison Madueke is now a happy man. The reason is that he has regained back his job after he was suspended while the EFCC was investigating the case. It would be recalled that Dauda was arrested to explain how huge funds allegedly stolen by the former minister were laundered through him. THEMOMENTNG can authoritatively report that the man is back to the bank and this was after a series of boardroom politics. Sources disclosed to us that while he was on suspension, Lawal was still carrying out his official duties like attending to meetings of interest to his portfolio. Speaking on his arrest, Dauda said while in the custody of the EFCC, he was “questioned by the EFCC over his alleged role or complicity in the alleged $25million acquisition of the Le Meridien Hotel in Port Harcourt.”While denying any involvement in the acquisition of the said property, Mallam Lawal said “This allegation is malicious and without substance in any material particular. It must be stated clearly that Lawal is completely oblivious of the ownership status of the said hotel neither is he directly or remotely aware of any transaction involving the former Minister on this hotel. He warned that the present situation where by the anti-graft agency pronounces somebody guilty even before being put to trial is antithetical to the universally accepted norm of being innocent until proven guilty. “The danger in the current narrative is the unfortunate tendency to misinterpret every relationship to be based on fraudulent foundations especially where the verdict of guilt has been pronounced on one of the parties way in advance of a formal trial. “It is difficult for one to state his side of the story where the long knives have been drawn to hack down anybody connected with the ‘guilt’. Meanwhile, at the time of Lawal’s arrest, a First Bank source reveal that the bank was not involved in handling of the cash for which Mr. Lawal was arrested, claiming that he acted in his “private capacity” as a long-time friend of the former minister.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described allegations made against him by Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, as resulting from a lack of common sense and a potpourri of wild rumors. Obasanjo’s response was contained in a letter dated December 30, 2016, and was a direct riposte to a welter of allegations contained in the traditional ruler’s 2010 autobiography, Awujale: The Autobiography Of Alaiyeluwa Oba SK Adetona, Ogbagba 11. In the book, the Awujale pointedly claimed that Obasanjo used his powers as president, among other things, to hound his cousin and Chairman prominent businessman, Mr. Mike Adenuga. The former president described the Awujale’s claims in his book as products of bizarre rumors, which a traditional ruler of his status should not be seen propagating. “Common sense would suggest that wild rumors should not be perpetrated by an Oba of your caliber,” wrote Obasanjo, who added that he now thinks a lot less of the Awujale than he once did. Writing on the 2006 experience of Mr. Adenuga with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in his book, the Awujale had accused the former President of harboring a deep-seated hate for the Globacom Chairman, an accusation that drew a fusillade from Obasanjo. “Kabiyesi, the total sum of what you have put down in those pages of your book is that I dislike Mike (Adenuga). Maybe I need to remind you that if there was any iota of truth in such a position or mindset, Mike would never have been granted the mobile phone telephone license, which made him a billionaire. It was my prerogative as the President so to do. You may also be reminded that the first round of auction, which Mike did not make, the country earned $285million for each license. The country earned only $200million from the license transaction with Mike and in the subsequent transaction with Etisalat, the country earned $400million. It was a deliberate action on my part that a Nigerian should own one of the licenses. Anybody else but Mike could have been that Nigerian,” wrote Obasanjo. As part of the dislike Obasanjo allegedly harbored for Mr. Adenuga, the Awujale wrote in his book that the former president used the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as a personal battle axe against some prominent people, including the Globacom Chairman. Not surprisingly, Obasanjo also bristled at the allegation, saying the EFCC, with him as President, did its job as it deemed fit. Obasanjo accused the Awujale of carrying out hate propaganda against his person by the suggestion that he used the EFCC as a whip against certain persons. “Kabiyesi, your cousin did not tell you that my Chief of Staff, Abdul Mohammed, put his reputation on the line by assuring EFCC that Mike would not go anywhere and they should trust him to give him his passport. I did not even know that Abdul had done that until the Chairman of EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu, reported the case of my Chief of Staff seemingly colluding with Mike to run out the country. But I had implicit confidence in my Chief of Staff and I was to resolve the issue. Should your cousin not have mentioned to Abdul who guaranteed the release of his passport, his fears and intention to go on exile?” Obasanjo asked in the letter. The former President ramped up his attack on the Awujale by exposing the traditional ruler’s decision to send him documents on Mr. Adenuga’s case with the EFCC, saying he paid no attention to those documents because he was not the EFCC and did not put the commission on a leash. “Mike did not need to send anything to me to satisfy me. He needed to satisfy the EFCC, and so your sending any documents to me was insinuating that I am the one to be satisfied rather than the EFCC. So, such documents were not paid attention by me. You, as a part beneficiary from Mike, as you have told me in the past, would not be able to see the tree from the forest viz-a-viz, Mike. If the EFCC was investigating anybody, I did not consider it right for me to be the President of Nigeria to be undermining the EFCC by hobnobbing with that person,” wrote Obasanjo. On the Awujale’s allegation that Obasanjo deliberately arranged a photo-op with Mr. Adenuga, the former President said the traditional had fallen many notches in his estimation. “Your assertion in the publication was a tissue of lies and untruths. Olopade is one of my best friends, and yes, I would be at his birthday celebration, but I would not have invited Mike, your cousin, to meet me anywhere other than my office or official residence as President of Nigeria. Kabiyesi, do you think I would set the press up for to capture Mike and me in a photograph for the newspapers? That would be puerile for me as President. Of course, I could not say that Mike could not do that,” wrote Obasanjo. The former president also dismissed the Awujale’s claim that he was sore at the decision of Mr. Adenuga not to make financial contributions to the building of the library at Bells University. According to Obasanjo, Mr. Adenuga was invited by the then Vice-Chancellor of the University, who did not inform him of the invitation to the Globacom Chairman to contribute until the businessman pulled out. Obasanjo said the Awujale has a reputation for propagating unfounded rumors. “It is not only in the case of Obajana Cement that you were rumour-mongering about me. You have done that repeatedly on many occasions,” he wrote. The latest of such, said the former president, was last year when he said the Awujale told him that he heard he (Obasanjo) went to businessman, Razak Okoya, to ask to marry his daughter. According to Obasanjo, it was the girl that came to him seeking his intervention in a disagreement with her father. Obasanjo said he intervened and Okoya and his daughter were reconciled. “I told you even then that it was unbecoming. Of course, I am used to such rumors, slandering, and insinuations since my days as Unit Commander in the Army, and I have developed a thick skin. If ten percent of the rumors ascribing businesses and properties I know nothing about were true, I would be the richest man on earth. But recently when Aliko (Dangote), yourself and myself were together, Aliko assured you that I never had a single share in any of Aliko’s business interests, but whenever he has called on me to help within and without to promote his business interests, I have always helped,” Obasanjo stated. He added that it was during that conversation that Dangote revealed that one the directors in his cement company is somebody very close to the Awujale. Obasanjo further accused the Awujale of wanting him, in and out of office, to act inappropriately to the benefit of Mr. Adenuga. “It is of interest to me that Mike did not tell you that when he wanted a national honour, he came to me and I did not react until Babangida (former military president) recommended him and said: ‘Of all those I have helped, Mike is one of the most appreciative,” wrote Obasanjo. He also dismissed the Awujale’s claim that he had frittered all the political goodwill he once enjoyed, asking why, if true, the traditional ruler contacted him when the All Progressives Congress (APC) was formed in 2014. Obasanjo added that the Awujale was even personally present when he received the APC delegation. “I probably have greater goodwill today, internally and externally, than I had in office,” bragged Obasanjo.

Martha Amakye, a 33-year-old outsourced staff of Stanbic bank, has been declared wanted by the Ghana Police in connection to a series of complaints from customers of the Tema Community One branch of Stanbic bank. Martha Amakye, an outsourced staff from Noswall Management Service, a recruitment agency, is said to have fled when Stanbic bank’s Financial Crime Control Unit found out that she was involved in fraudulent transactions. According to reports Miss Amakye, a personal solution consultant at the Tema Community One branch of Stanbic Bank, collected money from customers on the pretext of investing the money in fixed deposits. Miss Amakye allegedly contacted customers of the bank – without the bank’s permission – and proceeded to entice them to invest in her nefarious scheme. Some customers allegedly paid her outside the bank, while some actually came into the bank and made payments inside the banking hall. According to reports, after payment, Miss Amakye is said to have issued customers with fake bank deposit slips. Miss Amakye, at one point, allegedly paid some initial investors what she said were interests for their investment. She proceeded to tell them that the principle would be reinvested into the scheme. With news of a lucrative investment deal at the Tema Community One branch spreading, more people sought to subscribe to the scheme. Miss Amakye’s picture and details have been posted on Stanbic Bank’s social media page asking members of the public to come forward should they have any information on her. Customers have also been cautioned never to make payments to anyone other than a teller and demand receipts or stamped payment slips for all payments made.

APC will experience major crack before 2019 general elections Nigeria will soon have a female President that will turn the country around Prophecies are signposts and roadmaps on the journey of destiny. They provide comfort and give assurance from the mind of God concerning the future. They stabilise us in the midst of the storms of life. When others are concerned and fear grips their hearts, a person with prophetic insight is not moved because he has understanding of the times. However, you don’t just receive prophecies and go to bed. You have to war with them to bring them to pass or avert them when it’s negative. God reveals to redeem. You have to hold God at His word and call them to manifestation. Thus, this 72 prophetic insight for 2017 by the Set Man of Champions Royal Assembly, Bro Joshua Iginla for individuals and nations is meant to guide them into what’s at stake and take appropriate precautions where necessary. 1 In 2017, I see more pressure on His Excellency, Mr. President to sack the incumbent CBN Governor. It will take divine Grace for him to remain in that office. Senator Saraki: The Senate president should not think that the trials are over. I see more storm and trials that will take a new turn from his enemies and political distractor. They will scheme for his removal. He should be very careful because I see much betrayal of promise. They might backstab him. I see promises made in the secret to him that will not be kept. He should pray that the people in his camp should not see the storm overwhelming him, thus leaving him in the storm. 3 The hardship and poverty in Nigeria will increase. Mr. President will do all he can in his power to reshuffle some of his cabinet in order to rescue issues but because his administration has more enemies than friends, they will frustrate all his efforts. However, I see a light at the end of the tunnel but it will not free us from this hardship. Rather, it will increase, it will be strong but I have good news for you, those who know their God will be exempted. I see a part in this country that the military will move swiftly to rescue because of the crisis that will come out of there. It will be like a tail of crocodile slapping the water. It is between 2018 – 2019 that this crisis will blow but in 2017, we will see a symptom of it splashing the water. Sensitive crisis from one part of the nation that needs the current administration to be sensitive and pray about it. I see the issue of flood resuming. I see downpour. I see some of the corruption that has been there over 2 years ago to curb such flood will be exposed because this will affect a lot of buildings. Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Benue, Kaduna, Adamawa and Plateau should pray against serious attack like herdsmen, terrorism, radical extremist and religious attacks which will increase but God will give us Victory. The dollar exchange rate will rise up above 600. It will go up. 8 – His Excellency, Mr. President should pray for his health, I see him traveling out for an unscheduled health checkup. But this time, it will be more serious. He should pray for his health, God will keep him. 9 There will be serious attempt to frustrate the Vice President. This attempt will be so strong. There are some cabals that will want him out of the seat. This attempt would not just be by political measures but an attempt through striking of his life as well. He should pray and be careful but the Lord will keep him. 10 The Churches in Nigeria will go through serious persecution. Some major ministries will receive serious court judgement that will be unfavourable but God will keep such ministries. There will be strong persecution. Let’s Pray to God to keep the church in Nigeria. God spoke to me and said this is the time Nigeria should be ever united as it has been in the history of the country because what is ahead of us, one cannot fight. It will take measures of too many people connecting with heart and mind to fight. 11 The current government will prevail so much over the issue of Boko Haram but it will not die. Rather, it will take a new dimension. It will worsen but at the tail end between 2017-2018, most especially 2018, that’s when we will get the victory better on the issue of Boko Haram. 13 I see another monster that will be created before the end of this regime meant to distract the incumbent President and his crew. Just as Boko Haram was a distraction to the previous Government. I see another distraction that is coming. It will be stronger than what we heard about. That’s why we should continue to pray not to continue going from one circle of battle to the other. 13 The agitation of Biafra will take another turn. Pray so that this time it should not be bloody. We should pray for Kanu Nnamdi, the Biafra leader, because I see a health challenge and I see bitterness and agitation from this same region he is coming from. And I pray the current administration is very sensitive over the case of Nnamdi Kanu because what I see is not too good. May the Lord keep Nigeria. Will he come out? Yes! How will he come out? I can’t really tell. I see it as something divine. I don’t see legal issue as a means of removing him from there. 14 I keep repeating this prophecy for the past three years and I’m still repeating it. There is a great man of God whose candle light has finished. There’s nothing we can do about it. This is an home calling to glory and I keep saying this. God said I should re-echo it. This is an important but sensitive minister in the body of Christ. His candle light has gone down but is living by Extra grace. I still see this same prophecy in 2017. I pray God will show mercy and grace on him. 15 We should pray against another terrorist attack in Abuja. God will avert it! 16 A former president and great man should pray to cross this year 2017 to the next year. 17 The clamour for his Excellency, Mr. President, to come back in 2019 will be very high. Buhari should be very careful. There’s a lot of judases around him. They are only digging his grave for him unknowingly. He should be very careful. 18 I see a shake in the Government. I see new ministers coming in. 19 The governor of Rivers state will suffer a lot of political persecution but it will not stop what God is about to do. 20 The Lord spoke to me and said what Amaechi was to the ex-president is what Ayo Fayose will become to President Buhari in this regime. The same persecution that Amaechi gave the previous Government is the same persecution Fayose will give Buhari. He should not be underestimated because I see him making a move that may result in revolution. 21 Rivers and Ekiti state Governors should be very careful. There will be attempt even over their lives. I don’t know by which party but that’s what I saw. 22 I see a governor that will narrowly escape death. God will keep him. Infact, he will have to go to the house of God thanksgiving. 23 APC has served its purpose. In 2017, the party will begin to see major cracks and before 2019 there’s a powerful party that will merge out and will form strong alliance in 2017. It will become solid in 2018. APC has served it’s purpose. It’s like a piece of paper thrown away after being used. APC has served its purpose. A new party that will take Nigeria to the next level will rise up and I don’t know how but I see this party consisting of members of the ruling party and opposition party fusing together causing what I call unwanted diffusion that will lead to a future catastrophe but before it, there is going to be calm on the nerves of Nigerians. Even the new party that will come in is like joining petrol and Kerosine together and mixing it up with water. 24 I’m sorry to say this but it is what I Saw. Nigeria will continue to have old faces ruling this country. They will keep circulating powers among themselves. The faces we will be seeing won’t be really new. They will keep changing from one regime to another till 2031. In 2031, I see a face rising up that will take Nigeria to where we ought to be. He is a true David we should look up to. A strong, vibrant, intelligent leader and a bridge maker. By this time, 3 major political fathers who caused change in this generation would have gone to glory. God said there are some cabals he’s going to call to glory before the true David emerge. I saw a mighty hand sweeping Nigeria. What I saw was a golden fork sweeping but it took time to gather the dirt. It took sometime that is the space of time I saw in my vision In 2035, there will be a strong female politician that will rise. She will become very strong, fearless, confrontational and she will be a running mate. That’s a vice president position. Between 2039 – 2051, Nigeria will have a female President that will turn the country in another dimension. The tension in 2019 will be worse than 2015 election. We must pray against military intervention, please let’s pray as it can be averted. We must pray against cancellation of results after elections in 2019. I see the seat of an African leader empty because of death. Some politicians are agitating to rule forever. As long as they are on the seat, there’s nothing anyone can do about it. Hear what God said about them. He said ‘ Is it not the living that will rule? The dead body can’t rule. I see thin dark cloud over Sokoto. Please pray for Sokoto State in 2017. Pray for the Aviation industry. I saw thick dark cloud on one of the airlines. I pray and I cancel such aircraft crash in Jesus name. There will be some cabal in the ruling party that will move the motion to remove the National chairman of the ruling party. They will pass vote of no confidence against him. They will cry and criticise him more. It will be very strong just as it happened in PDP, It will happen in APC. I see the seat of the national ruling party leader shaking before the next election. Buhari will do his best to move Nigeria forward but all his best will be thwarted by the enemies of Nigeria. It is not about Buhari, it is about some cabals who are enemies of Nigeria. Though we have angels sitting at the helms of affairs, if this cabal don’t die, Nigeria will remain in a cage. There will be mass loss of Job most especially in the banking industry. There will be lot of retrenchment. The budget of 2017 will suffer a lot of strong set back in terms of implementation. It is like the spirit will be willing but the flesh will be weak 40 I see a particular deputy governor taking over from a governor. I can’t tell the circumstances that led to this, we should pray. I see a strong terrorist attack in form of chemical weapon against a country in Europe and especially the attack will be carried out on a school. I see children dying helplessly. I pray God will deliver and avert it in Jesus name. There will be strong assassination attack against the pope but God will deliver him. The pope will try to bring peace between so many nations that lack peace and he will make major achievements mostly in his peace agenda. AMERICA: I see the new president approaching the helm of affair with radical apporach. The American-China relationship will go sour. It will go bitter, cold and that will so much affect a lot of things in some areas in America. So many dirty deals of the past regime will be exposed by the current regime. There will be attempt to attack the incoming president of America but God will preserve him. 45 I see some American political elite that will maintain political division and this will affect the performance of the new president. They will not share some of his views and as a result of that, the division will be so strong that it will be evident. The conflict between the USA and China will erupt and it will slow the wheel of progress for both Nations. There will be an alliance between the USA and Russia and the discussion which will not go down with some political elite and that’s why I said it will slow the wheel of Progress The new style of the new American president will weaken the attack of terrorist in some other parts of the world. It will be so strong and the signal will be so strong and there will be major breakthrough than the Obama’s regime INDIA: I see a serious escalating conflict between China and India over the Northern border of Kashmir. There will be a great revival in the Nation of India and 6 major prophets will rise up in India that will cause major changes in terms of Christian revival in the nation of India. Christianity in India will soon be a wide fire catching all over and it will be accepted and move forward than ever before. I see the government of India having a strong alliance with 3 powerful Nations in 2017. I see it so very strong. I see a train accident that will be averted but some people will still die. The hazard will not be as intended by the enemies. The political environment in India will be tensed and I see the ruling party holding to power. CHINA: The economy will be very strong, viable, and it will overtake others economically. 55 China will become a strong threat to world powers mostly of the number one world powers. Between 2018 and 2021, China will be at the top of the chart because of what God showed me. There are some super powers we have now that are very strong but will lose the position. It’s not as a result of failure but because there’s a shift taking place in the realm of the spirit. China should pray against plane crash. I avert it in Jesus Name. GHANA: A lot of past leaders will go to Jail and the new president will be celebrated for just 6 months and after that he will become unpopular. Ghana will soon experience the same challenge like Nigeria. What is happening in Nigeria will be duplicated in Ghana. The new president will do well but his enemies will be more than his intention. I pray for God’s speedy intervention. FRANCE: There will be relative peace from the first quarter of the year but I still see a co-ordinated attack that will still come inside the Nation’s capital. I cancel it now! In France the election will be tough and strong because of some internal rancour. They should pray to sustain their position, because I see the opposition party pushing the ruling party from the helm of affair. GAMBIA: There will be strong revolution that will take place. I see strong military intervention. God says they should pray against bloodshed. 64 There will be a lot of political dramas. It will cause lot of lives. It will be one that has never be seen. It will become news everywhere. ZAMBIA: The economy will still be struggling to pickup. The president will do all his best to drag it up and I see it having a steady balance in 2018. One of the serving ministers should pray to cross to 2018 because I see an attack over his life. God will preserve you in Jesus name. A lot of people from the opposition party will form alliance and collapse themselves into the ruling party and will try to give the incumbent President support. The president should pray over his health. It will be a major challenge throughout his regime but God will still keep him. There’s is no grace for him to come back after this regime because I see lot of judas and funny people that will advise him to return back. He shouldn’t adhere because there is no grace. Have said it before, Zambia president please watch. CAMEROUN: The government should watch over the border because I see the influx of Boko Haram entering into the country. They should pray so that Cameroun should not be at the receiving end of what we are chasing from Nigeria. The crisis between The English and French speaking parts will worsen but God will bring peace. 71 The president of Cameroun should pray for his health. I see him going overseas for an health treatment. I pray God keeps him. RUSSIA: The Nation of Russia will have good relationship with USA. Between 2017-2018, there will be a relationship Crack between the Russian president and USA president. It will grow sour and become strong. It will become the battle of Ego. It will be like a Lion and Tiger battle. 73 Russia will wax stronger despite any kind of sanctions

Embattle financial institution, Skye Bank could be in hot trouble over the allegedly N1.8 billion loan given to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leading to 2015 general elections. Fresh facts have emerged on the over 40 vehicles allegedly recovered from Mr. Goodknows Igali, a former permanent secretary by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with new evidence strongly indicating that the automobiles were legitimately acquired through a bank loan for use in the 2015 elections. Investigations have revealed that the vehicles in question were purchased with a loan from Skye Bank, as part of the transportation plans for the Jonathan/Sambo campaign during the last general elections. It was further gathered that some of the vehicles that came into the campaign pool as donations or purchased with party funds had already been distributed or returned to the owners while the vehicles in question were kept in Abuja in the custody of the former permanent secretary who facilitated the loan in readiness to be sold with a view to committing the proceeds to the repayment of the loan. Contrary to claims that the vehicles were purchased with diverted public funds, it was reliably gathered that a loan of N1.8 billion was obtained on November 20, 2014 for the purchase of ‘luxury vehicles for VIP use’ with an extended repayment plan beginning from December 2016. Our checks from documents cited at the headquarters of the bank, in Lagos, further revealed that Skye Bank released the loan in five tranches in line with the time invoices were produced by the suppliers. A senior manager of Skye Bank who confirmed the loan stated that the bank had in statements made to EFCC September 2016, supplied all the evidences concerning the transactions to the anti-graft agency. The official who pleaded anonymity because he was not officially permitted to speak emphasized that the loan processes followed all legitimate procedures, stressing that no default has been recorded yet, since the repayment was billed to start December 2016, “had EFCC not taken interest in the transactions.” A high ranking member of the People’s Democratic party (PDP) High chief Abel Odoko, wondered why EFCC would chose to opt for a “sensational media trial on a matter that was concluded many months ago.” The chieftain who claimed to be very conversant with the case debunked the claim that” the sum of N1.5 billion with which the vehicles were acquired was allegedly sourced from the diverted N27 billion insurance premium of deceased workers of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).” The PDP chieftain said “first it was that the former permanent secretary took 40 government SUVs for himself. After 24 hours its 45 or 47 and he bought them for Jonathan/Sambo Campaign. First, vehicle were parked in his house, now they are parked in a yard. If investigators are credible, why so much “confidential sources ” leaking out so much? Why the sudden massive media hype if it’s not sponsored witch hunting? Why always drag in the name of GEJ into everything negative?” He wondered why despite the disclosure by the bank, from which the loan was taken, the government was silent on the transactions. “Why are government officials silent on the fact that a loan was obtained and rather quoting other sources? Is the intention to scandalise specific people for whatever reasons and achieve cheap political objectives? Is it professional practice in investigations of this type to be releasing findings in bits without conclusions? Why has the minister of information suddenly become spokesman for EFCC?” the PDP source said. According to him, EFCC came into the matter only after it discovered that Baseworth Insurance Brokers, a company the anti-graft agency had been investigating had also contributed N300 Million to the said loan which was co-ordinated by Skye bank. “It was only then that the agency insisted on recovering the money by taking possession of the vehicles to which no one objected.” He said this was the settlement reached with the anti-graft agency about four months ago, “only for contrived stories scandalizing our party and former President Goodluck Jonathan and people close to him to resurface in the media days before the new year.” He added that the claim of a pending trial of ex-perm sec Igali was borne out of mischief, adding that “it does not arise because it has been clearly established that the vehicles were purchased with a bank loan. If EFCC is investigating any other matter, our party is not against it as long as due process and fairness is followed. The PDP as a party is not against President Buhari’s fight against corruption war. The PDP government believes in curtailing the scourge of corruption in the country that is why the government established the ICPC and the EFCC. We are fully in support of the anti-corruption war but it must be done in line with the principle of equity and without victimisation”.

Abdulmumin Jibrin, suspended member of the House of Representatives, has told Yakubu Dogara, the speaker, to return the $600,000 he collected from James Ibori since he has denied the former Delta state governor. On December 23, Dogara had denied claims by Peter Nwabaoshi, a senator, that the former governor influenced his emergence as speaker in June 2015. But in a statement on Saturday, Jibrin said the sum allegedly collected by Dogara was used in his campaign. He said Ibori also provided “huge support” to Dogara by mobilising legislators from Delta state, the south south and south east zone to support him. “It is such a shame that Speaker Dogara denied the fact that former governor James Ibori provided huge support to his emergence as speaker by mobilising members from Delta state and some from the south south and south east zone to support him,” the statement read. “Since he has disowned Ibori, he should at least have the honour to return the $600,000 Ibori donated to his speakership campaign. I am sure he cannot deny the fact that he collected that money cash.” Jibrin said that he had secured funding from two reputable international organisations “to establish an online platform that will serve as a central point to disseminate budget fraud, corruption acts and publish evidence.” He also stated that he would hold series of public lectures and sensitisation programmes on budget fraud and corruption across the country. “Our first event will hold in Kano on 9th January 2017 with 5000 youths across the country in attendance. Our anti-corruption crusade with be ruthless in 2017,” he said. “I remain very proud that despite the organised witch-hunt against me using the institution of the house they have not been able to establish any offence that I have committed during the course of discharging my duties in the 5 years I have spent in the house. “It is noteworthy that no member of the house has formally accused me of corruption or abuse of office as I have consistently done against the speaker and others.” When contacted, Dogara’s spokesman responded with the same words he used on December 23, saying: “Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara does not have a relationship, political or otherwise with former Governor James Ibori of Delta state to warrant the insinuations.”

My dear Compatriots, I am happy to welcome you to the beginning of a New Year in our beloved country Nigeria. I felicitate with you today at a time when our nation is witnessing a new and impressive turnaround in our security and socio-economic situation. I know you will join me to, once again, congratulate the heroic and gallant efforts of our military and other security agencies on their remarkable successes to rid the nation of terrorism. Following the successful capture of Sambisa Forest, spearheaded by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, we have entered a new phase in our battle against our common enemy, Boko Haram. When we see our beloved 21 Chibok girls reuniting with their families and community for Christmas, it gives us the hope that those who are still in captivity will one day return to the loving arms of family, friends and well-wishers. I urge all Nigerians to be on the alert and watch out for strange figures settling in their communities, and report to the nearest security agencies, as our armed forces intensify the pursuit of fleeing terrorists from the captured Sambisa Forest. Misguided elements who decided to take up arms against constituted authorities must be brought to face the full weight of the law. The support of all Nigerians to security agencies to enable them successfully execute their mandate is crucial in our bid to effectively secure our country. Seeing the joyful return of thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to Damasak town in Borno State, following the reopening of Maiduguri/Gubio/Damasak road in Northern Borno on December 25, 2016, reassured us that the voluntary return of IDPs in other parts of the country is imminent. The Federal Government will spare no effort in seeing to the resettlement and rehabilitation of the unfortunate victims of terrorism and insurgency. I urge state governments, privileged Nigerians, donor agencies and countries to redouble their contributions towards this goal. Government is aware of some mistakes and wrongdoings in handling the affairs of IDPs. We are taking measures to correct those mistakes and punish the culprits. In this New Year, I want to reassure all Nigerians that our defence and security forces are more than ever before ready to perform their constitutional role of protecting lives and property in the country; and we will surely overcome all other forms of security challenges. The lingering security issues in several states will be frontally addressed. These ugly crises cannot be allowed to fester as they strain the unifying bonds of brotherhood and neighbourliness. Some sections of the press and some politicians should avoid provocative and inflammatory statements, while the government is painstakingly trying to find solutions to our challenges. I want to remind you on the first day of this New Year of an African proverb that says “it is easy to break a broomstick but not a bunch”. Nigeria is a bunch and is more than equal to troublemakers. I have interacted with a broad spectrum of Nigerians, the old and the young, and they have told me unequivocally that they believe in the unity and stability of Nigeria. The year 2017 provides an opportunity for us to build on those aspects of our national life that unite us. We are courageous, hardworking, hospitable, steadfast and resilient people, even in the face of difficulties. These are the attributes that define us and have for years confounded the pessimists who do not believe in our continued existence as a united and indivisible nation. We are a remarkable nation that has succeeded in harnessing our multiple diversities for national development. We must continue to support and tolerate one another and live together as one. We will continue to pursue peace initiatives in the Niger Delta as I again, call on our brothers in that region who have taken to violent disruptions of economic infrastructure to come to the negotiating table. As for our brothers and sisters of the Shia Community, we urge them, too, to embrace peace. They must accept the laws of the country they live in. They cannot be islands by themselves. At the same time, the law enforcement agencies must treat them humanely and according to the rule of law. On our part, in the past 20 months since our inauguration on May 29, 2015, we have focused our energies to turn around the economy, create jobs, fight corruption, and transform agriculture to replace oil and gas as a major revenue earner for the nation. I am encouraged that we are getting things right. The agricultural revolution has begun. Farmers in different parts of the country are experiencing bumper harvests; states are getting into strategic partnership towards attaining self-sufficiency in rice, and the era of over-dependence on oil for foreign exchange revenues is gradually waning. I am optimistic that the CHANGE we all yearned for in voting this administration to power in 2015 will manifest more and be sustained in different sectors, particularly agriculture, in 2017. As you may be aware, our economic recovery and growth plan in 2017 is anchored on optimizing the use of local content and empowering local businesses. In pursuit of this administration’s philosophy, we will continue to appeal that we buy “Made In Nigeria” goods. Like I said during the 2017 Budget presentation to the National Assembly, farmers, small and medium-sized manufacturers, agro-allied businesses, dressmakers, entertainers and technology start-ups, will remain the true drivers of our economic future. They are the engine of our economic recovery and their needs underpin our Economic Recovery and Growth Plan. On job creation, this administration will sustain existing programmes aimed at lifting a vast number of our youth out of poverty, while at the same time creating the opportunities for people to fend for themselves. Our determination to wrestle corruption to the ground remains unshaken. This fight, which will be guided by respect for the rule of law and due process, will not spare anybody or organ of government. It is a collective undertaking and resolve that must be seen to its logical conclusion in spite of certain distractions. The fate of our country lies partly in the success of this campaign. It will be unthinkable on my part to allow the boat of this crucial campaign promise capsize mid-stream. I thank you for the public support for our administration’s efforts to transform Nigeria. I assure you again that the current pains are temporary and will ease when the economic seeds in gestation begin to bloom to fruition. I urge you to continue to support this administration in its effort to transform Nigeria for the good of all. I wish you a Happy New Year, 2017. MUHAMMADU BUHARI President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Prince Abeeb Adesina Faronbi is an oba elect in Lagos State. A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and humanitarian socialite, Aremooba Faronbi, in this interview, shares his life and business successes, including his rare experience as a young prince. Enjoy… What keeps you busy as a socialite? Well, I belong to so many social and philanthropic organizations such as Rotary Club of Isolo, District 9110, Nigeria of which I was a past president, between 2009 and 2010. We meet regularly to discuss how to assist the less-privileged in our society by providing such social amenities as drinkable bore-holes water, wheel chairs for the physically challenged, eye-screening and provision of eye glasses. We also provide desks and benches for schools and we give free medicals and medical assistance to the needy and we help to alleviate the sufferings of the inhabitants. It is done weekly and it keeps me so busy from engaging in trivial-issues. Tell us about the experience of being a royal prince. The experiences are indeed varying depending on your standing in the society. A prince must have a large heart to understand the problems of his people and must be ready at all times to assist them. And again, this also depends on your capability financially. And it is also prestigious to be a financially buoyant prince because you will always be accorded that royal honour. But you must always cut your clothes according to the size of your fabric. Above all, royalty commands respectability, honour and grace. Therefore, princes and princesses are expected to be up-and-doing positively in all ramifications to contribute positively to their communities, socially, politically and economically. Please, share interesting moments of your growing up. My growing up was interesting. Like you know, I was born into royal dynasties of Isolo, Ewu, ejigbo, Iba, Eletu Iwashe, Akesan and Adoyi Alashe chieftaincy, royal families in Lagos State some sixty years ago. I am therefore a heir apparent to the thrones of my forefathers. I’m a thoroughbred crown prince of Lagos of Awori descent. Hence I’m always referred to as a crown prince of Awori dynasty. I didn’t stay with my parents during my youth days and even in adulthood because my parents believed I might be pampered beyond redemption. I started my early education at Ansar-ud-deen Primary School, Isolo, Lagos in 1967. But my father in his wisdom later sent me to live with one of my maternal uncles in Agege, Lagos where I attended St. Peter’s Blessed School, Oke Koto, Agege between 1967 and 1973. I later went to Federal Government College, Ilorin, Kwara State between 1973 and 1976 before I was later transferred to Federal Government College, Malali, Kaduna between 1977 and 1980. After that, I travelled to America to study Business Administration at Wayne County College, Detroit, Michigan. Though I was born a prince, I gave myself a rebirth which eventually shaped my life and the good legacies I inherited from my late father, His Royal Majesty, Oba Disu Olayiwola Akanni arimole bi osupa Faronbi Arolagbade Alagbeji 11, the Osolo of Isolo kingdom. You are already sixty years of age. Is there anything you are missing now that you wish to have before clocking 70 years in life? Nothing. Alhamdulillah (thanking God). I’m blessed with good family, friends and above all, good health. With all these, every other good thing will surely fall in place in sha Allah. Tell us about your private ventures and journey in politics. Politically, I have been elected the chairman of ward F1, Isolo under the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1983. I was chairmanship flag bearer also for SDP in Oshodi Isolo lga in 1993. Likewise, I was chairmanship flag bearer for the Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM) in 1997. I was a House of Assembly flag bearer for the Congress for National Consensus (CNC) in 1997. In 1998, I was elected the publicity secretary for the All People’s Congress (APP) in Oshodi Isolo lga. I was leader in the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 1998. Also, I was a leader in the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2006. From 2014 till date, I’m a leader in the All Progressives Congress (APC). I was appointed by former Governor Ahmed Bola Tinubu of Lagos State to serve in his cabinet as a commissioner in the Lagos State local government service commission where I was able to inject some five hundred Awori indigenes into the Lagos State civil service. This was done through the magnanimity of Asiwaju Tinubu. Business-wise, I’m by the special grace of God the CEO/President of various ventures which include Crown Prince Company Nigeria Limited, Dilafar Company Nigeria Limited, Mama Okiki & Son’s Nigeria Limited, and Prince & Princess Ventures. As a crown prince, what are the royal titles that you presently bear? I’m the Aremo Oba Osolo of Isolo kingdom. I’m the Oriomooba of Aworiland. I’m the Oloriebi Adoyi Alashe chieftaincy family of Lagos and I was recently appointed as the oba elect of Oke Alo which covers Gagada, Pedro, Mende, Anthony, Maryland, Kosofe, lga in Lagos State. What are the qualities that you have that you think attract people to you? I think that question should go directly to my: friends, loved-ones, well-wishers, colleagues, admirers and family-members. I’m like a mirror. I can only see myself when I look into the standing mirror but someone else can only tell me genuinely how I look behind me. That’s the truth. What’s your greatest fear and how do you manage fear? I don’t have any phobia. I take God almighty as my shield; therefore no weapons fashioned against me shall prosper. God is my protector, my alpha and omega. With Him all things are possible for me. How do you relax and what is your favourite music brand? Well, relaxation keh? (laughter). Honestly, I don’t actually have a regular relaxation period. But I sleep a lot and I don’t allow anybody wakes me up when I sleep which usually takes place in the midnight. I don’t do siesta too and it is even worse when i travelled. Who are your role models, socially and business wise? My parents are my role models. They brought me to the world, raised me and they gave me bread, butter and shaped my characteristics to be useful positively to the society. There are no better role models. You should have female admirers. Tell us how you manage women who want beyond business relationship? Yes o! (general laughter). Well, I know when to say ‘madam, I am sorry I’m not single, I’m happily married with children. Where do you love to spend your vacations with your family? Alhamdulillahi robili allaminah (thanking God). Because God almighty gave me a wonderful and understanding family, we sometimes spend our holidays in Dubai, United States of America or the United Kingdom.

Maruff Olanrewaju, the coordinator of the Kwara State chapter of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), in this interview, speaks on his experience with the Yoruba liberation group, the group leaders’ main grouse with the Ganiyu Adams leadership, the way forward for Nigeria and the only peace route for OPC, and more. Excerpts… You are said to be a freedom fighter, how did it begin with you? I’m a man who loves his tribe, the Yoruba, and I can’t stand my people being oppressed. When I was in school during the June 12 1993crisis, I admired freedom fighters like the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, Dr. Beko Ransome Kuti. Then strong human rights activists like Barrister Femi Falana, Olisa Agbakoba, and many others fighting then for the realization of Chief M.K.O. Abiola’s electoral mandate. Since then I had it in mind that I would become one of those fighting to liberate Yoruba from the bondage of the Hausa/Fulani oligarchy. That was about the time the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) was born. Before then, NADECO was the leading organisation calling for justice on the June 12 struggle. OPC was formed in 1994 under an organization called JACON but hardly did people know OPC then until between 1997 and 1998 when it joined the voices that were calling for the release of Chief Abiola, the restructuring of Nigeria, creation of state police, resources control, among other matters of national importance. It was then I joined OPC in which up till date I’m an important factor. As an important factor in OPC just as you have said, please, share your relationship with one of the leaders of the group, Gani Adams? My late father used to tell me that whenever you find yourself within a group, make sure you give respect to whom it’s due, meaning respect who the leaders are and give all your support to them, obey instructions and never allow yourself to be used as a tool for destruction, do not cheat and never accept to be cheated. In line with this wisdom, I followed Gani Adams leadership in OPC to the letter. He can attest to this claim. Whatever he did that was legal, I gave my total support, and I love him blindly to the extent that other members of the group took me as enemy. This is because I never supported any plot against Gani. For example, in 2007, there was a serious crisis in the leadership of OPC when Gani Adams was alleged of embezzling the organization’s money and some of his security aides demanded for 10 million naira if the crisis must be settled. During that crisis, I stood solidly behind Gani because I believed that the crisis was meant to humiliate him and question the integrity of his leadership. So, at what point did crisis come between you and Gani? You will recall that I said earlier that OPC was an organization calling for restructuring, resource control and state autonomy. If I may ask, do we have autonomy in OPC? The answer is no. Let me use this opportunity to tell the world that Gani Adams leadership is purely dictatorial as I later realized. Gani believes in dictatorship, he doesn't welcome ideas from other members of OPC, especially if such ideas contradict his own agenda. During the 2015 general election, there was the speculation that Gani Adams collected 9 billion naira from the Goodluck Jonathan government to destabilize Yoruba land. I personally addressed the press on the issue and debunked the rumour. But later, we got to know that Gani truly collected money from Jonathan, which we were told was meant to empower all members of OPC. How did you find out he got the money? He confirmed it later. When he got the money, he asked all our members to open a dedicated account in the bank that he would send what he called employment money to every member between 200,000 naira and 250,000 naira. But that was the last we heard on the issue of the money and employment. Before the 2015 election, Gani was living at Abule Ado but immediately after the election, he bought a mansion in Omole Phase 2 for 500 million naira, he also bought brand new jeeps for himself, his wife, and his only son for 35 million, 12 million and 5.5million respectively. He didn’t stop there; he went to London to launch a radio channel and newsmagazine. He did all these without giving any member of OPC a dime. That was the point I and likeminded people took it up with him. We told him that he must step down as OPC leader since he has betrayed the confidence we had in him. The OPC leadership, does it have a term limit backed by its constitution? There is no term limit or any leader in OPC and the constitution is weak. The constitution was written between 1999 and 2000 when Gani was already leading the organization but he refused to sign it because he saw some aspects in that constitution that he felt was not favorable to his leadership. He later wrote a new constitution but he was still scared of presenting it to the OPC national coordinating council because he knows that there is nowhere under the sky where such an autocratic law is operating. What is the connection between OPC and Oodua Progressives Union, OPU? The connection between the two is that the both are Yoruba organizations. But the difference is that when Gani Adams noticed that he might not survive with his dictatorial leadership style in OPC, he used OPC money to establish OPU outside Nigeria with the intention to destroy OPC so that if he has any problem with OPC, OPU will come to his rescue. We will continue to say it, OPC is not a political organization and it is not affiliated to any political party. When we say our aim is to protect the interest of Yoruba but we are supporting political parties, it means we have already deviated from our oath and objectives because Yoruba cut across all political party. So far, what can you point at as OPC’s achievements? Sincerely speaking, OPC has achieved a lot especially in cultural promotion. We have been able to showcase our cultural values to the outside world. Even our home governments now realize that they can generate a lot of revenues in tourism if they can invest more in tourism. We have many tourism attractions here in Nigeria especially in Yorubaland. We have the Owu Force in Oke Oyan/Owa Kajola in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State, we have the Oya groove in Ira, Oyun local government of Kwara State, and we have hot and cold water flowing together in Ikogosi in Ekiti State, and a lot more. Moreover, we still have a long way to go. Our government needs to come out in full support of cultural groups like OPC which is doing a lot in cultural promotions so that our rich culture which is our only pride will not become history. OPC originally was born as a liberation force. It came into being basically to promote and defend the Yoruba nation when the Ibrahim Babangida military junta annulled the June 12, 1993 election. We swore on oath never to allow the interest of any tribe to override the Yoruba’s. The first major success happened when the struggle was hot between 1998 and 1999. The Nigerian government headed then by General Abdulsalami Abubakar, a northerner, was forced to endorse the nomination of two Yoruba men for the position of number one citizen in Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Chief Olu Falae. But we still have a long way to go even now in term of emancipation. We are still calling for the creation of state police, resource control, let those whose lands produce determine how they live their lives, let’s have state or regional autonomy, let’s have true federalism, Nigeria needs to be restructured if we must continue to live together in peace. If we are to look at it critically, you will agree with me that nothing is working in Nigeria anymore. So, the only solution to liberating this country is restructuring. The OPC particularly can't stop fighting for liberation when we are not yet at the destination. What is your assessment of the Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government? Considering his integrity, I would say that President Muhammad Buhari means well for Nigeria. But there are two problems I have identified with his government. One, he came to power at the wrong time. Wrong time because things have been so bastardized it would take even the holiest of men years to fix. Two, Buhari is surrounded by corrupt politicians, and he was supported to become president by this same set of corrupt politicians, which I see as another reason he may find it even more difficult to move Nigeria forward. As a leader in your own right, how accessible are your followers to you? Every member of my organization can tell you about me. They are the mirror through which I see myself. I’m a man of the people and my people have easy access to me anytime. Do you have any political ambition yet? No. Tell us about the empowerment scheme in your group. Empowering our members is one agenda that I take serious. We do it regularly, though with the little resources available to us. I’m not ready to disappoint my people because one leader took away all the money meant for everyone. Tell us about yourself and what you are you doing at the moment. My name is Salam Maruff Olarewaju. I was born some years ago in Ondo State but I hail from Oyan, Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State. My father is Chief Salam Atoranse of Ayekale compound, Oke. I had my primary education in Ondo State and started the secondary education there which I later completed at Shao Grammar School in Kwara State. I also studied Public Administration at Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin where I got OND and HND. I’m currently studying Finance Management at the Institute of Finance in the UK. I also attended Arabic school both in Ilorin and Lagos State before moving to Abeokuta, Ogun State where I got Dhanawy certificate in Arabic. Later, I studied Arabic and Islamic at Uthman Danfodio University, Sokoto, where I graduated as an Islamic scholar. I then came back to practice in Ilorin as an Islamic teacher which I did for some years before quitting to face full time business. Finally, so you foresee reconciliation with the Gani Adams group? No. This issue is not about the Kwara OPC alone. It is about OPC in seven states, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Delta, Bayelsa and Abuja, and OPC in 12 local government areas in Lagos State. So, there won’t be any reconciliation until Gani Adams quit and allow OPC to freely choose its leaders.

-Senator under attack over outburst The controversy surrounding the expected return of the former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, to Nigeria has assumed a new dimension even as security has been beefed up in his home town in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state. Meanwhile House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has denied any links with the former state chief executive. While his kinsmen in Oghara are in high spirits awaiting his ‘triumphant’ return, the outburst of some of his loyalists, especially those who travelled to London as ‘advanced team’ to receive and welcome him back to his political fold in Delta State and Nigeria at large is raising some eyebrows. The ‘Odidigborigbo of the universe’, as Ibori is popularly known among his teeming supporters, who was jailed by the Southwark Crown Court in Britain in 2012 for money laundering, regained his freedom on Wednesday, December 20, 2016, is yet to indicate when he will be returning to the country as there are some issues yet to be sorted out with the UK authorities – especially his assets forfeiture case. His long anticipated return, last week, prompted prominent leaders of Urhobo ethnic nationality in the state and the incumbent Delta North Senatorial District representative, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, to depart the shores of the state to usher him into the oil rich state once again. His anticipated return had also encouraged his political allies to raise money to restructure his private house in Oghara, even as his daughter, Hon. Eriatake, representing Ethiope West Constituency at the state’s House of Assembly, has allegedly prepared a grand reception for his arrival. However, the jubilation, which accompanied his release, when his loyalists popped bottles of champagne within Asaba metropolis, especially at a popular restaurant, owned by Ibori’s younger brother and named after the former Governor, along the Okpanam Road, yesterday, dovetailed into controversy. No thanks to the outburst of the Senator, representing Delta North, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi in London, where he was quoted to have said that Ibori remained an undying political figure in Nigeria politics, having delivered a President (Late Musa Yar’Adua), a Senate President (David Mark), Governors, including Uduaghan and the incumbent Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa (from prison) and got many other of his loyalists into political offices. Nwaoboshi also bragged and attributed his position as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), to Ibori, as well as making his daughter a member of the state’s House of Assembly from prison without qualms. But Speaker Dogara, in his reaction distanced himself from Senator Nwabaoshi’s claim. In a statement by his special adviser, Turaki Hassan, the Speaker said “We have watched the video clip and noticed that there is nowhere the distinguish senator mentioned Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara by name. “However, reports published in both online and print media insinuated that Senator Peter Nwabaoshi referred to Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara. “For the records, we want to state that the Rt. Hon. Speaker was elected by the votes of members of the House of Representatives. There may well be silent supporters and well-wishers of the Honourable Speaker from far and near some of whom he may not be aware of.” Also reacting to Nwaoboshi’s comment, a Senior Special Adviser to Governor Okowa, who pleaded anonymity, wondered why a high ranking Senator would travel to England to be with the former governor. “Nwaoboshi’s sojourn to London to celebrate the release of Ibori was a mere face saving mission. Everybody knows how Nwaoboshi was strongly opposed to Okowa’s bid to become a Senator whereas Okowa was Ibori’s candidate for that seat. Nwaoboshi led the campaign of Dr. Mrs. Maryam Ali and was a very bitter opposition to Okowa.” Also reacting to the release, Ibori’s Commissioner for Economic Planning, Chief Clement Ofuani, now Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Director-General on Asaba Capital Territory Agency, attested to Ibori’s credibility, saying: “I can attest to the veracity that Ibori did not commit an offence he was labelled for, as indeed millions of other people. We are not shamed for we know the truth.” Meanwhile, it has been celebration galore at Oghara, since the announcement of the release of the former governor just as the area is presently wearing a new look. On a fact finding tour to access the situation at Chief Ibori’s home town discovered that everything has been put in place to welcome the ex-governor who is reportedly coming home in the first week of January 2017. Already Ibori’s country home has been renovated to suit both the ex-governor and scores of dignitaries being expected during the arrival of the illustrious son of Oghara. Similarly, other places such as the palace of the Ovie (King) of Oghara, His Royal Majesty Noble Eshemitan and the Ethiope West Council secretariat have also been given a face lift; while various companies operating within the locality as well as hotels and drinking joints have also not been left out in the renovation exercise. Meanwhile security outfits, such as the Army, Nigerian Navy, Police and others have beefed up security to ensure a hitch-free reception at the Oghara Township Stadium.

Immediate former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has revealed he is under enormous pressure, to contest for president in 2019. According to NewsDay, Jonathan has been receiving calls, messages and mails from home and abroad, urging him to contest in the next presidential elections. He revealed this while addressing his kinsmen, who paid him an end-of-the-year visit in his hometown in Otueke, Bayelsa State. It is also understood that some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains, want Jonathan to consider contesting. They believe it was the party who failed in the 2015 general elections and not the former president. The 59-year-old ruled from 2011 to 2015 and lost his bid for re-election last year, to President Muhammadu Buhari. Jonathan, however, said he was not thinking of running for office now, as he believes he has done his best for Nigeria.

The lawmaker representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, has stated that a former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori, who has just regained freedom in the United Kingdom, UK, made governors, ministers and House Speaker while serving jail term over money laundering charges. Nwaoboshi, who said he travelled to London after Ibori’s release to congratulate him on his release from prison, disclosed that Ibori sat right there in his cell in UK prison and made his daughter a member of the House of representatives. Joining other supporters to felicitate with Ibori on his release from prison, the lawmaker said, “My names are Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi. I left Nigeria yesterday because of my boss.” “James Ibori is my brother, he’s my boss and somebody am very well…loved.” Amid cheers from those around, he continued, “Let me make one point. All of you who are here today, you have come because of James ibori. “There are many people who have been made governors and as soon as they paid their governorship fees, nobody remembers them. “There are many people who have been governors and some people who served under them don’t even remember them again. There are many people, by the grace of the Almighty God, who have had the opportunity…suffered this problems and people will not even come when they have these problems.” “But James is a good man.” This brought about cheers and clapping from the people around as Nwaoboshi continued, “The man that made everybody and nobody made him.” “The man that made everybody and nobody made him.” Ibori laughed as he said this. Nwaoboshi carried on, “There are many people who have been Governors, who have never even been opportune to make their successors, but James Ibori made his successors. “And there may never be a governor in history again who will sit in his cell or in prison and make a governor.” At this point, a thunderous applause and cheering erupted from the background. The Senator went on to say, “There may never be in history again of a governor who will sit in prison and make senator. “I said there may never be in the history of Nigeria again of a governor who will sit in cell and support a Senate President. “And there may never be another governor who will sit in the prison and make a Speaker of the House. And there may never be a governor in this country who will sit in cell or in the prison and make his daughter a member of the House of Assembly. “There may never be any Nigerian man who can pass through the tribulations you have passed through today and come out, and everybody will be flying…when I was flying, a security agent told me I know you are going because of James Ibori, I said, I am going because of James Ibori and there is nothing you can do to me because I have the authority to travel. If you want crisis we create it in the airport.” “Then I know those he has served a lot of things but who have forgotten him today.” The former governor interjected on him by saying: “I’m the father of all.”

Crystal Palace are looking for a new manager after Alan Pardew was sacked on Thursday. Pardew’s tenure at Selhurst Park has been ended after almost two years after being appointed on January 3, 2015. It is estimated he has been handed a £5m pay-off. Palace are 17th in the Premier League, a point above the relegation zone. Chairman Steve Parish said: ‘I would like to put on record our sincere gratitude for the tremendous service Alan has given us, both in his time here as manager and previously as a player. ‘Following a fantastic second half of 2014/15, the 2015/16 season culminated in only narrowly missing out on winning the FA cup as well as securing our Premier League place for a record breaking third time. ‘During his tenure Alan’s hard work and dedication were without question, he has improved so many areas of the club and we wish him the very best for the future.’ Palace added: ‘With games now coming thick and fast over the holiday period the club are hoping to put someone in place as quickly as possible but have nothing to say about a replacement at this time.’ In a statement on the Palace website, Pardew said: ‘I would just like to take the opportunity to thank everybody at Crystal Palace for their fantastic support. ‘In particular a big thanks to the players who gave me absolutely everything and Steve Parish and his board. ‘Personally I have a lot of good feelings for this football club and am sad that my time there has ended. ‘I feel that I have a special bond with the club and hope that hasn’t been affected, I wish everybody associated with the club the best of luck in the future including of course the fans who have been magnificent. ‘There will be no further comment at the present time.’ Pardew’s last game as Palace boss was a 1-0 defeat by Chelsea at Selhurst Park on Saturday. Palace had won one of their last 11 in the Premier League and Pardew leaves after taking charge of 73 matches, winning 25 with a win percentage of 34 per cent.

An Osun State Magistrates’ Court has issued a warrant of arrest for the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adewale Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi. At its last sitting on December 2, Chief Magistrate Olusola Aluko threatened to issue the bench warrant of arrest if Oba Akanbi failed to appear before him in compliance with the court order on November 25 in a case filed against him by the Oluwo of Iwo-Oke, Oba Kadiri Adeoye. Oba Adeoye was in court, but Oba Akanbi sent another monarch, Ologburo of Ogburo, Oba Asimiyu Sadiq, to represent him. His absence drew the anger of Magistrate Aluko. In his submission, Oba Adeoye’s counsel, Soji Oyetayo, urged the court not to entertain any of the applications filed by the respondent until he complies with the order of the court. He said: “The first respondent (Oba Akanbi) filed an application of stay of proceeding yesterday afternoon. “So, I am of the opinion that he is not ready to move any application today. “The court made an order on November 25 and up till now the order has not been complied with. “The application asking for a stay of proceeding cannot stay the order already made. “The order of the court is meant to be obeyed. “The non-appearance of the first respondent in this matter is a flagrant disobedient of the order of the court.” Oba Akanbi’s counsel, Olayide Yekeen, said his client submitted the notice of preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the case on November 15 and that by careful perusal of the State Magistrate Law, Section 19:1, the court cannot entertain the matter. Yekeen said: “It is the threshold of all cases that whenever the issue of jurisdiction is raised, it is to be taken first. On the issue of jurisdiction and the competence of the case, the respondent has the right to be heard first before any enquiry can be made in the matter.” In his ruling, Magistrate Aluko stated that he agreed with the respondent’s counsel that the issue of jurisdiction must be treated first, but said: “On the order of the court made on November 25, the order remains. “I hereby issued a bench warrant against the first respondent while further proceeding on the matter is adjourned till December 27.” Oba Adeoye had approached the Magistrate Court, accusing the Oluwo of concealing some facts about his past to the government when he was installed as a first class monarch about a year ago. In a 33-paragraph affidavit, the Oluwo-Oke said Oba Akanbi’s character did not befit a person of his status and calibre as he was used to carrying thugs, miscreants and hoodlums around to harass, intimidate, molest and attack his perceived enemies. He further alleged that the Oba Akanbi forged his name to obtain travelling documents to the United States where he was jailed in New York City and deported to Nigeria in 2000. He added that Oba Akanbi later travelled out with his real name to Canada in 2001 and became a Canadian citizen, but was also arrested in Toronto and was in jail between 2006 and 2007, saying these facts were concealed from the government. He also accused him of presently making money through internet fraud and was using his palace as a cover-up. But Oba Akanbi reacted to these allegations in a 13-paragraph affidavit through the Aremo of Iwo, Chief Adelani Akanbi, who described the application as “scandalous, vexations and designed to embarrass, blackmail and ridicule the monarch in the view of right thinking members of the society”.

Award winning singer Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Whizkid and his manager, one Sunday Areh have been declared wanted over a breach of performance agreement. This was as a result of a court order by a Ugandan court that issued a warrant of arrest on the duo, thereby directing both interpol and the Ugandan authorities to arrest the duo and make to appear before it. Face TV through its lawyer Fred Muwema of Muwema and Company Advocates has obtained a warrant of arrest for the singer, who allegedly failed to honour a US$60, 000 contractual obligations to perform at a concert in Uganda on December 3. Whereas Sunday Areh of Lagos Nigeria stands charged with the offence of; C1: Obtaining money by false pretence contrary to section 305 of the penal code act. C11: cheating contrary to section 307 of the penal code act. You are hereby directed to arrest the said Sunday Are and produce him before me on or before the 16 day of January 2017.” The order was issued by Magistrate Baligeya Moses Mufumbiro. According to Muwema, Wizkid’s manager Sunday Are was paid the full performance fee of US$60,000, a brokerage fee of $5,000 and $3,000 as per diem for the days Wizkid’s group was going to stay in Uganda. “Our client then incurred substantial expenses in booking and re-booking flights, hotel, venue, advertising and promotions for the concert, which expenses grossed over $300,000. In the meantime, more than 25,000 Ugandans paid for tickets in advance in anticipation of the Concert. “To our client’s dismay and utter shock, Wizkid and his troupe did not show up for the Concert despite assurances that were made up to the very last minute. This misconduct by the accused has not only damaged the name and reputation of our client” Subsequently, the court issued the arrest warrant against both Wizkid and his manager Are.

Osaze Odemwingie’s move to Cardiff from West Brom Albion in 2013, forms part of a £10 million damages claim launched by the Welsh club, against their former manager, Malky Mackay. Cardiff has already lodged a claim of dishonest conspiracy against Mackay; their former Director of Football, Iain Moody and three agents – David Manasseh, Rob Segal and John Inglis. The Championship club claim the five men conspired to defraud the club in 2013 over Steven Caulker’s £8.5million transfer from Tottenham and Odemwingie’s £2.5million transfer. They are holding Mackay and Moody responsible, as the two principal officers that handled transfer business at the club. Cardiff’s owner, Vincent Tan, has spent more than three years and £1million investigating eight transfers done during Mackay’s tenure.

MD/CEO of Heritage Bank, Dr. Ifie Sekibo in appreciation of the award, stated that the bank’s supports toward women entrepreneurs reinforce its belief in small businesses and their importance to economic growth of the country. He said: “Heritage Bank recognizes the importance of women in the society, especially in the economy, and this informs its commitment to women empowerment. Our mission is to help women succeed in business and in life. “We believe that with the right motivation and resources, more women in Africa and in Nigeria can achieve the enviable success that many women across the world have achieved. At Heritage Bank, we have committed ourselves to providing these capacity and resources to empower and motivate women across the country.” Women empowerment, according to him, was informed by the need to advance the Nigerian woman’s confidence and also teach her to find a balance between living the life she wants and securing her financial future. The hostess and leader of OYSOWA, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, described the summit as a landmark for two reasons: “The first is that this is the fifth edition of the summit and it is so amazing that this small idea that was conceived a few years ago has become a reference point. “The second is that just this year, the Violence Against Women Law 2016, was passed by the Oyo State House of Assembly to the glory of God. I recall that during the first summit in 2012, I mentioned that steps were being taken to pass this bill into law and there was even a session on passing a bill on violence against women during that summit. This summit gives us an opportunity to celebrate this achievement for Oyo State that now, we have a law that protects us (women) specifically.” She noted that over the last five years, several programmes have been organised with a view to producing ultimate women in the society. She also advocated upward review for the roles of women in nation building. Nkechinyere Okorocha, wife of Imo State Governor, who advocated greater recognition for women, noted that the change that Nigerians desired and believed has finally come to the country. Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, emphasised the need for Nigerians to pray for their leaders and why women should be supportive to their husbands and play their own quota in the growth and development of the country. Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, and his counterparts from Lagos and Osun, Akinwumi Ambode, Rauf Aregbesola, called for increased support for women to ensure that they overcome challenges limiting their potentials. The three governors noted that in this period of economic recession, the leaders at every level should ensure that the water does not become too hot for women, and that the future of every society is determined by the quality of women in that society. They also called for empowerment programmes capable of preparing women economically for any emergency situation in the country and on the home front.

The rejection of Ibrahim Magu’s nomination as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission marked the end of months of delay by the Senate to act on President Muhammadu Buhari’s request. The Presidency requested the Senate to confirm Mr. Magu’s nomination in July through a letter signed by Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo in his capacity as the acting president when Mr. Buhari was away on a medical trip. However, since the letter was read by Senate President Bukola Saraki on July 14, the Senate showed no readiness to act on it until last week. After failing to hold the confirmation hearing last week, the Senate said it would screen Mr. Magu today, Thursday. But indications that Mr. Magu would face difficulties emerged Thursday morning during a meeting of the Senate leadership ahead of the plenary. There was disagreement over the mode of the screening. While some Senators were for an open screening of Mr. Magu at plenary, some were opposed to it, saying the EFCC nominees should rather be referred to the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption for screening. Later, Dino Melaye and Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, exchanged insults openly. Due to the disagreement, the Senate was little over an hour late to commence sitting. Then, the Senate dissolved into an executive session which lasted over one hour. During the executive session, it was learnt, Mr. Magu was invited into the chamber and stayed for about 15 or 20 minutes. But the Senators had already made up their minds, it seems. The Senate relied on a damning security report reportedly obtained from the State Security Service. Mr. Magu declined to answer questions posed by journalists as he left the National Assembly. He had come with associates and EFCC officials who all left disappointed.

Workers of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, an affiliate of ExxonMobil, on Thursday protested against the indiscriminate sack of 145 Nigerian workers and violation of expatriate quota by the company. They called for the removal of the Chairman/Managing Director, ExxonMobil Upstream Companies in Nigeria, Mr. Nolan O’Neal. ExxonMobil Lagos office was shut after a “dispute between the employees union — Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) — and Mobil management on initiating an arbitrary sack of Nigerian employees without conclusive negotiations”. The protesting workers displayed placards with inscriptions such as: ‘no to indiscriminate sack of Nigerians’, ‘Nolan O’Neal must go’, ‘Expat Contractors @ $2000 per day I expat = 10 Nigerians’, ‘Restore Dignity Of Labour Now!’. A terse statement circulated by PENGASSAN to its members, stated that the protest, which began on Wednesday, was to continue on Thursday with an “increase the tempo”. Part of it reads, “The plan is to withdraw our services totally from all our operating locations by midday tomorrow (15 Dec). “The secretariat will keep you informed and updated as we arrive at that threshold. Injury to one is an injury to all!”

Flashback to 2006 when the very first edition of popular reality TV show, Big Brother, staged its Nigerian version. The show brought to the limelight 14 vibrant youth who entertained us with their different personalities and unique talent. The show eventually produced one winner – Katung Aduwak – who won $100,000 after multiple rounds of public voting and contestant eliminations. These former housemates have since moved on to various pursuits – some into private businesses which have kept them out of the spotlight, while others trode the path of stardom. With the second edition of the competition set for January 2017, here’s a walk down memory lane and a look into the lives of seven popular housemates ten years after: Katung Aduwak: We all cannot forget that moment when 26 year old Katung was announced the winner. His win was surprising seeing as he came into the house after the second eviction and won about 80% of the tasks. He and his co-housemate, Sandy, were kept in isolation with no external contact & zero access to TV or news for 3 weeks before being introduced to the show. Katung proceeded to New York to get a directorial degree from the Digital Film Academy after which he returned to Nigeria and worked on several projects. He produced and directed the movies “Unwanted Guest” and “Heaven’s Hell”. He also directed a number of music videos for Chocolate City, Styl Plus, Gabriel Afolayan and starred in EbonyLife TV’s Desperate Housewives. Currently, Katung is the Senior Channel Manager MTV Base and Executive Director at Chocolate City. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu: He is perhaps the most prominent face on the entertainment scene since leaving the Big Brother house. Ebuka won our hearts with his charming smile and witty personality. Although he did not win, he went on to write for a number newspapers and magazines and anchor events before taking a break to go back to school for his master’s degree in law. Since his return to the scene in 2011, there has been no stopping him! Ebuka has become a media personality of note, contributing to several online publications and hosting several events. In 2013, he was announced the new host of Rubbin’ Minds, a youth-focused TV show on Channels television and is also one of the co-hosts of The Spot, a show that combines a bit of reality TV with talk show and sitcom, showing on EbonyLife TV on DStv channel 165 alongside Lamide Akintobi and Zainab Balogun. He has won several awards and been honored by the Federal Government as one of the Best 100 Young Nigerians in one of the events to mark 100th anniversary of Nigeria as a union in 2013. Gideon Okeke: He was the sixth evictee of the Big Brother Nigeria house and ten years later, Gideon has maintained a steady acting career. He captured our attention with his role in AfricaMagic’s Tinsel, the longest running Nigerian soap opera, and a number of feature films such as ’93 days’, ‘A Place in the Stars’ and ‘When Love Happens”. His acting prowess has earned him a number of accolades and recognitions including an award for Best Actor in a TV series (drama) Nigerian Entertainment Award in 2010 and a nomination for Best Actor in a Drama in the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) in 2015. He has been a part of big budget stage productions such as critically acclaimed SARO The Musical (2014). He has also hosted several TV shows and events and is the CEO of a media outfit, AppleBox. Francisca Owumi: She was the fiery dancer during her stay at the Big Brother Nigeria house and emerged first runner up. After a stint as a writer at Revista, an international magazine based in Ghana; the Big Brother Nigeria star made a comeback, with two singles “Gbadu you” and “Diva” under her own record label Cisca Entertainment. Sandra Osaigbovo – or ‘Sandy’ finished fourth in the Big Brother Nigeria house. Ten years after the curtain fall on the competition, Sandra is now a certified fitness trainer and Zumba instructor. She is a Fellow at the Institute of Registered Exercise Professionals (IREP). Maureen Osuji: Maureen opted for a career in the corporate world after the Big Brother Nigeria experience. She later proceeded to the Fashion Retail Academy in London for a degree in Fashion Buying Merchandising and Management. Now, she works as the creative director and independent buyer at Aurora Daniels. Frank Konwea: Known for his ‘loud-mouthed-ness’ in the house, Frank continued his career as a professional dancer performing at several shows and concerts. He was also a judge on a popular dance TV show. The Big Brother phenomenon presents a platform of endless possibilities. It holds the appeal of catapulting ‘ordinary’ people from different walks of life into superstardom. Some of these individuals don’t even know the extent to which this road will take them, but they are willing and brave enough to take the plunge! So come January 2017, the country and indeed the whole of Africa will be introduced to a new set of talent. The question is will you be watching? Big Brother Naija will air on dedicated event channels on all DStv packages on channel 198 and GOtv Plus on channel 29 from January 22, 2017. The show is proudly sponsored by PayPorte, your preferred online retail store.

The founder of the Silverbird Group, owners of Rhythm FM and Silverbird TV, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, has stated that although President Muhammadu Buhari currently retains his support, he will fight the president in 2019. Speaking in an interview with Peace Hyde, the lawmaker, who represents Bayelsa East senatorial district, said; “Buhari is the president today; he is my president. I must respect him regardless of what I feel. “In 2019 we can fight but right now I want the economy to grow. If I take the position that I want to destroy APC and destroy Nigeria, will there be any Nigeria for me to fix in 2019? “So it’s a dumb move to try to destroy your president or somebody you hate and destroy your country in the process. I’ll fight Buhari in 2019 but today he is my president; I will support him.” The common sense advocate advised Nigerian presidents to appoint a minister of common sense to solve the problems of Nigeria, stressing that: “a lot of people in government do dumb things. I’ve told successive presidents in this country to appoint a minister of common sense. “The minister of common sense will not have a budget. All the minister would do is to think about Nigeria and find solutions to the problems of Nigeria without thinking about enriching himself.” He also voiced his dissatisfaction with the western media’s coverage of Nigeria, asserting that: “The Western press don’t like you; don’t be fooled. They see you as a product and sometimes you have value. They don’t see you as the destination for any major event, they will hit you hard.” “My greatest goal in life is to support the poor and I support them for two reasons. One, they are poor and they need help. Second is that if you don’t support them, they will kill you. The rich uses the poor to kill the rich. They kidnap, rape and maim you. We have a serious problem in this country,” Murray-Bruce added.

Nigerians have been thrown into a sudden anxiety following a decision by promoters of deposit money scheme, MMM, to suspend new payouts to subscribers. The members woke up on Tuesday morning to a disclaimer on the scheme’s website informing them of the move. But the promoters of the scheme say it won’t go burst just yet, adding that the setback will only last a month. The MMM is a deposit money scheme that market analysts said remained highly suspicious. The scheme draws from investments of later investors to pay off earlier ones. Despite repeated warnings by the government for Nigerians to desist from investing their money, the subscriber base of the scheme has continued to boom. But the MMM said the move was only to prepare its system for intense activities ahead as part of its preparation for a new year, which arrives in less than three weeks. “As usual, in the New Year season, the system is experiencing heavy workload,” the message, seen by those who logged on to their account this morning read. The promoters also blamed the hysteria that has greeted the emergence of the scheme in the Nigerian media, as well as attempts by the Nigerian government to shut it down. “Moreover, it has to deal with the constant frenzy provoked by the authorities in the mass media.” The alert came two days after the scheme’s founder, Sergey Mavrodi, taunted President Buhari for trying to shut down a business that has supported ‘over three million Nigerians’. The development immediately sent some subscribers into panic mode. Harriet Okpara, an Abuja-based lawyer, who has participated in the scheme for several months, disclose on Tuesday morning that she “immediately lost appetite” upon realising that she won’t be able to cash out on her investment. “I put money out to support other people last month and I expect that money to yield so I can request for my payment with interest from the community, but now I can’t do that,” she said. “I don’t want to believe that we’re gradually getting to see the end of this business.” MMM Nigeria, which coordinates Nigerian subscribers of the scheme, posted a screen grab of the announcement on its Twitter page on Tuesday morning, saying that the scheme “has not and will not crash.” The disclaimer reads as follows: “Dear members!” “As usual, in the New Year season the System is experiencing heavy workload. Moreover, it has to deal with the constant frenzy provoked by the authorities in the mass media.” “The things are still going well; the participants feel calm; everyone gets paid – as you can see, there haven’t been any payment delays or other problems yet – but!.. it is better to avoid taking risk.:-)) (Moreover, there are almost three weeks left to the New Year.)” “Hence, on the basis of the above mentioned, from now on all confirmed Mavro will be frozen for a month.” “The reason for this measure is evident. We need to prevent any problems during the New Year season, and then, when everything calms down, this measure will be cancelled. (Which we will definitely do.:-))” “We hope for your understanding, Administration”
